My Burberry Black Elixir de Parfum

JASMINE & CANDIED-ALMOND. This beauty, signed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, opens with a burst of lemon-zest & jasmine, that deepens into a candied-almond & rose rose heart, all resting on a beautiful marzipan & sandalwood base. The drydown is a lot like Hypnotic Poison, I kid you not. That being said, it may require a few months of dark storage after spraying to do this as I've had my bottle since 2017 and I just noticed the similarity to HP (not sure how I missed that but probably I ignored it because I had just discovered Shaghaf Oud back then). Contrast to My Burberry Black Burberry: These are different, but there are similarities with jasmine & almond. My Burberry Black has a more forward patchouli, and doesn't go as deep into marzipan territory. My Burberry Black Elixir outperforms. Contrast to My Burberry (OG) Burberry: These are different, but there are similarities, especially in the opening of My Burberry Black Elixir where the My Burberry DNA is present. In the original, the musky facets of jasmine show through more in the drydown. My Burberry Black Elixir outperforms. Contrast to Hypnotic Poison Dior: These are different, but there are similarities with marzipan & jasmine. Hypnotic Poison has a more forward powdery candied-almond, with jasmine much more to the background, but as they drydown they become more and more similar. Although current formulations of Hypnotic Poison are less potent than the original, performance is still well above average although My Burberry Black Elixir outperforms. Overall: a beautiful jasmine & candied-almond scent profile, this has elixir level performance true to it's name. Despite the very real risk of choking yourself out, his is my favourite of the My Burberry range., Enjoy!

My Burberry Black Elixir EDP is a rich, decadent, sweet cozy lemony rose that is wearable all year round. I overspray on this 85F day and it is still not too much. The lemon zest keeps the stickiness away. It also gives the sensation of a ripe fruit that has slightly gone off. Like a sweet peach. But this is not suffocating nor is it cloying. It feels decadent but not sugar sweet. I have a few heavy roses but this is the rose that I can wear all year round. The longevity is great and there is definitely some silage. This is a modern perfume and adding that lemon zest was ingenious. I was in search of a good year-round rose, not realizing that I already had one. To be fair, I don't think "rose" on the dry down. It smolders into a full, rich, sweet peach. A note which I usually do not tolerate. I might still be searching for my rose. Nevertheless, I hoard this perfume. It gives me great satisfaction. Pssst ;) If you are having trouble finding this one, you might also like Elie Saab Le Parfum Royal. Very similar.

I think this bears repeating, this was ONLY made in the 30 ml size, and it's not easy to find. It seems to be listed on a lot of sites, but it's the parfum not the Elixer. And while the parfum and Elixer bear some resemblance in the jasmine, it's the lemon zest and almond/rose that is almost candy like is where they differ completely, also no patch in this (technically there is, but it's not prominent and on me it's absent). It is stunning, but don't accidentally buy the parfum. Unfortunately, even the packaging is confusing. But, oh, if you can find...............buy it! Edited to add ~ this is one that gets so, so, so much more decadent as it ages. I'm on my second bottle in 5? years, but I went through the first way too fast. So, don't give up if it's just way too much after you first try (don't, under any circumstances, over spray. You'll choke) give it some time.

I hate to say this, but the one on the Burberry site is just the Parfum, not the Elixer. Look at the description (notes). It's always listed as Elixer. There is no EdP. Just Parfum concentration or the Elixer de Parfum. I really hate breaking this to people, but I bought it when I read here that it was on the site. It's just the parfum, I wish they would clarify, it's in the new packaging which also confuses; I wonder if that's deliberate. This is still a unicorn. I'm halfway through my last bottle, ugh. It must say Elixer de Parfum not just Parfum , can't stress that enough. A lot of unscrupulous people in the perfume resell marketplace, unfortunately ~ even Burberry's official site is being opaque. I know I've written several reviews, but if I had a favorite scent this would be close to it and I have a lot of perfume. This one just ticks a lot of boxes for me, lol.

DIVINE! There is no proper word to describe this masterpiece! This one holds a first place with my beloved Kingdom by Alexander McQueen. Both discontinued but I have two of each and keep them like precious jewels. The difference between My Burberry Black and the Elixir: MBB - Jasmine, Peach, Rose, Amber, Patchouli Elixir - Jasmine, Lemon Zest, Candied Almond, Rose, Sandalwood. I guess the Jasmine and Rose keep the heart of the original, the rest adds a divine combination that stands above any fragrance I have ever tried. Every single time I wear it I’ve been stopped and asked “what is this perfume”. When you wear it you are IN it, it surrounds you completely. I’ve never had an experience with a perfume like this one, it is almost alive.

Wow! A dense and lush scent. My skin is really amping up the jasmine for some reason. It is indeed quite nutty, a little rosy and has some kick from the lemon zest. I can definitely tell it's a Burberry flanker. I've got to admit that I have not loved many Burberry scents but this a definite winner. The dry down is jasmine, rose, almonds and a little lemon zest on me. It's sort of in the middle of gourmand, floral and oriental. Thankfully not too sweet. Further down the timeline and flowers ease off considerably and it's now a lemony, soft rose, nutty sandalwood scent. I get very good longevity and sillage.

Lovely fragrance. Just what I expected from a My Burberry scent. Exquisite and expensive feeling. The suggestion that the black bottle is somewhat an Oriental fragrance would be wrong. It is very fruity and floral, but lacks the spicy aspect that would make it such. It is a divine scent though. Too heavy and syrupy feeling for a hot, humid day, but wearable and likeable. The longevity and projectivity is pretty good on this one as well. I've received my fair share of compliments while wearing it. I feel the absence of leather that the original possess though.

There's usually a cheeky bit of fun in a Francis Kurkdjian fragrance, but My Burberry Black Elixir is his signature style at full tilt. This smells like the inside of a classic sweets shop- the sharp smell of lemon drops, vanilla fudge, turkish delight and the fine powdered sugar that gets up your nose. It's all supported by the same tenacious jasmine note that brings to mind my Baccarat Rouge. Moderate sillage with great staying power. I was delighted when my SO just said "Wow!"...high praise indeed.

I luckily have a perfumers sample of this. I've used 20ml in 2 months of my 30mls. This is literally what people know as my signature... It lingered in my partners car for over 3 days after a drive together... Francis... I love you... I need more of this, why so expensive... I wish I could drown in it. BTW, I work in fragrance sales and I can literally sell Burberry Black in 3 minutes to someone... Its so delicious... It's my FAVOURITE fragrance...

Just found this forever love on Fragrancebuydotca for roughly $80. If your looking for it, this is the only place besides the great roulette wheel of eBay and it's going for a lot more there. One of the only perfumes I've ever used a complete bottle of. Just a blast of citrus, candied almond rose. Sounds weird, smells amazing ~ to me anyway. I bought Tom Fords Rose D'Amalfie trying to replicate this one.

Amazing projection, longevity and sillage, citrusy sweet and really quite unique although I will say As I am a die hard oud satin mood fan this has some similaritys to my nose in the mid and dry down. well done again FK 👏 I have both the parfum & the elixir de parfum and enjoy them so much on cold days.

I and my mom smelled that fragrance and whoa! We smelled candid almonds with hints of lemon zest, jasmine petals and roses! We love it!

A citrussy, dark rose in the opening that dries down to a creamy, candied rose that doesn't come across as powdery. Just perfect.

If too expensive for your budget, try out 'La Roue de la Fortune' by D&G, very similar top notes and middle notes.

I've never smelled lemon so well done. Worth every penny. Super sexy. Best version by far.

SWEET. LORD. This is ridiculously strong! I take it with a bag of salt when people write 'enormous' sillage here, but in this case it's dead-on. It is quite possibly the strongest perfume I've ever smelled - at least on par with Montale's Intense Tiare and Mugler's Alien, probably even a notch above. This is rose gone nuclear! A roaring, world-shaking, all-consuming, post-apocalyptic monster of a rose. Dark, sexy, syrupy, deep crimson rose. One spray, and you're drowning in an endless pool of this blood-like nectar. Boy! I initially sprayed this on a business card, and was overwhelmed. Yes, it smelled great, but the intensity was absolutely brutal. I placed it on the other side of my bedroom, several meters away, and waited for it to calm down a bit. Its scent filled the room for a good four hours. I could even smell it while in the room, let alone upon re-entering. Even now, about 7 hours in, I can smell the card sitting an arm's length away. Deep, dark, syrupy, almost candied rose with a citrus twist. Simultaneously velvety-thick and acidic. Not a safe blind buy, but absolutely fascinating. Beware of the beast.

I'm wearing this for the first time today. It is a creamy dreamy candied rose with a hint of lemon through and through. The jasmine doesn't really come through for me, which is a pity. It's quite linear. I do like it but I've been enjoying less sweet fragrances of late so probably won't reach for it too often. I had tried the original My Burberry Black, which I liked, but I'm very leery of patchouli - mostly I hate it, rarely do I like it. This doesn't list patchouli either here or on the official Burberry website so I took a chance and blind bought it. It is very similar to the other My Burberry Black so I'm not sure you'd want both unless, like me, you're avoiding patchouli. Projection is strong (three shallow sprays - one on each wrist, one on the decolletage) and the test spray I did lasted through my shower! Oh, and no, I didn't drop £150 on it from the Burberry website...I got it from allbeauty for under £40 and feeling quite smug about it!

This is a unicorn. Study the specs carefully but the solid clue is the bottom of the bottle, which must have “Elixir.” Accept no substitutes - and morally lacking sellers will try to gaslight you. Is it worth hunting this down? From the notes listed, yes. From the actual fragrance? - regular My Burberry Black worked better for me. Elixir is nice - very nice. But it doesn’t have the almond, loukhoum-rose feel I was expecting and the lemon is barely there. This is very pretty, though, and YMMV - if you have skin that amplifies almond and lemon this might be perfection for you.

I have both now. The Elixir, I would say is less fruity. There isn't that blast of peachiness fruity. I've only just sprayed so cannot comment on it. It's heavy, smokey. Same as the original. I do like it. I'm glad I have both. YouTube says it's not as long-lasting as the OG. I do hope it is as I'll be gutted for the price. Would or should you have both? I'm a perfume junkie so don't know. Update.. It's just as long-lasting as the OG. I do love it as it's not as peachy. Very happy perfume junkie great hit!

Another run-of-the-mill dark amber. The name BLACK is fitting. I just finished a bottle of this and it was fine but certainly nothing groundbreaking, I find all of Burberry to be like that... the typical fragrance produced for the masses. 💞

Very sickly sweet. I don't get any candied almonds, instead I get a bug spray like rose combination.

This perfume is completely balanced,Not too oriental and not too soapy.Proper scent of red roses,hint of Sandalwood and lemon zest prevent it to go too sweet . In the cold weather the Jasmin and Almond notes come to life and the liquid sprakly texture will turn to a beautiful deep dark sensual rosey cream. Sugared almonds and dark vanilla give a feminie vibe ,refreshed with lemon in the upper notes and wrapped in sandalwood in a smoky base. Longavity on my skin is about 6-8 hours,and has a moderate projection.This is my second bottle and a must have for me all year around,I see myself reach out for it very often. Compare to the original My Black Burberry,This one has a beautiful depth which I prefer better. #ladylovesperfumes

I'm not sure about the notes listed. This is a very heavy oriental, full of rose and vanilla, a little sandal, and a little jasmine. It's nicely blended and rich, definitely a nighttime perfume. That being said, it's nothing special. It's worth the price for the longevity, but if you already own some beautiful oriental - for instance, Fath de Fath Extrait de Partum - perfumes, I'm not sure you would love this. I can't imagine a better nose than FK, but this perfume needs something added to be sublime.

Delicious zesty-sweet almond jasmine. Very plush and luxurious, smells super high quality. Big sillage, you only need two sprays. It’s denser and sweeter than the EDP, and doesn’t have the translucent peachy amber that makes the EDP stand out. If the EDP is light brown silk, this is a lacquered dark brown. Good longevity on me. Highly recommended if you like sweet!

This frag is unbelievably good, especially considering I blind bought it on a whim in the sale section of my fav discounters. It's one of the rare ones where I can smell every note in the notes list in sequence: dark red rose, very fresh lemon zest, marzipan. It's bold, unique, tons of character, and performs excellently.

@ceeceelee ... I purchased it and found out it wasn't what I was seeking. I've been checking sites for months for the actual Elixir. It is my absolute favorite perfume of all time. If anyone has this for sale.. please send me a message. There is just no comparison. The Elixir has my whole heart.

I just added Al-Rehab's White Full (a lush jasmine) to this and now the perfume is elevated to a more complex floriental. I know, Francis K. would probably scream, but this addition tones down the vanilla a little and I think improves it. I imagine a good rose oil would do the same.
