Les Beaux Jours

These may be newly made perfumes, but Burdin and the fragrance names are not new. I have a vintage set that was probably sold in the 1950's or early 1960's at the latest that has 4 bottles, each of which is probably 1/2 ounce. They are in these scents: Les Beaux Jours, Cuir de Russie, Tabac de France, and Paris Minuit. I got them on eBay, probably around 2002-2005. The Tabac de France is empty, and the best of the remaining ones is Cuir de Russie. I need to wear it more often for a definitive opinion, but dabbing it on a couple of hours ago it appears to stand up to Chanel's Cuir de Russie any day. The bottles have those little plastic stoppers in them, and have a screw top. They appear to have always been kept in the box, so the scent has held up well. I'll have to check whether they're making Cuir de Russie again. Just checked their website; no, they aren't making it, as of November 2, 2018.

Les Beaux Jours or, ‘The Good Days’, aims to whisk you away to memories reminiscent of warm sunny days when you’re at your happiest. Would I say it achieves this? Sort of. It’s obviously a very feminine scent, but could still be pulled off by the right sort of man. The intense red juiciness of pomegranate and litchi subject you to a blast of sparkly sweetness, which is then elevated by the sharp tang of Clementine. A floral medley of airy rose, soapy lily and soft jasmine combine gently to brighten everything up even further. Overall you’re left with yet another fruity floral from Burdin, but this time even more sweet than other counterparts. It’s a pleasant and enjoyable wear for the summer, but I wouldn’t be overly keen to reach for it personally.
