Bvlgari Man Black Orient

AN ARABIAN-ITALIAN IN BLACK Before the launch of Man in Black Oriental, Bvlgari had a feminine oud perfume (Lazulia) and a unisex one (Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir). The designer missed out on a fragrance for men. Boss, Versace, Ralph Lauren, Varvatos, YSL, Gucci and many other designers already had a successful masculine offering in the Oud range. 2017 saw the birth of what seems to be another successful Bvlgari perfume, with an Oud flanker of Bvlgari Man in Black. The fragrance type is not in the comfort zone of nose master Alberto Morillas, but he has produced another winner. Let's highlight some of the qualities of this Bvlgari oriental gem: * The first impressions - I gave this fragrance top marks, and not without reason. It is a modern oriental fragrance, very well combined, simply brilliant. It smells very spicy and a little boozy. It is strong and intense right from the start. It's wonderful and I'm very happy. On top of that, it comes in a nice looking bottle with a seductive oud leather scent! * When to use it? - I love this kind of cold weather scent. Don't wear it on a hot summer's day unless you enjoy making all living things run away from you! * How does it feel? - It's smooth, well blended and with a harmonious evolution! Who will like it? - It will attract compliments from lovers of oriental scents! * How does it devellops? - The rum/cardamom opening is quite great and the DNA of Man in Black is detectable. The introduction of Taif rose, along with tuberose, works well with the oud and leather base notes. * What about performance? - This perfume has quite a loud projection, so be careful with the spray. Its sillage peaks at 6 feet at the end of the 3d hour. The dry down still has a generous sillage and you can expect a usable skin scent until the 10th hour. It performs above average on the skin and even better on clothing! * Is it a classy scent? - It does not smell cheap or synthetic! It smells really classy and the fragrance ingredients are certainly of the highest quality. * Does it look good? - The Bvlgari marketers have done a good image job and used the Man in Black hype to promote this fragrance! It's a bit different from Man in Black. It has the vibe of the original fragrance, but the Taif rose and the strong oud/leather notes make it a little different. Its orientality justify the presentation. * What about the cost? - I consider this fragrance and Man in Black to be in my top preferences list! Unfortunately the price is higher than Bvlgari Man in Black. An unexpected Gem. The term "Niche-like" seems to get thrown around a lot, simply because a scent doesn't smell like the typical designer fragrance you might find at your local department store. In the case of Orient, I think it's kind of warranted. The original MIB has been a staple in my winter rotation for the last couple of years. Out of curiosity, I ordered a bottle of Orient to see how they compare. The opening of Orient is dryer and dustier than the original MIB. The sweet rum note has been toned down significantly, while the addition of a smokey note gives this fragrance some masculine, rough edges. The tobacco note is still present but a slightly sour woody note is brought up to match it (I'm assuming that is the oud). A smooth leather note comes in to round out the rough edges as you head through the mid. Both fragrances dry down similarly at about the 3 hour mark. The performance of Orient rivals that of MIB on my skin. I do not require more than two sprays for all day performance. Plus, Orient sticks to your clothes for days, while never falling apart or turning synthetic and "cologne-ish". Given the price of a bottle, I'm flabbergasted by the quality and performance it offers. My only criticism of Orient (and that's if I'm being really picky here) is perhaps the projection. Orient, although a stronger projecting fragrance than MIB, doesn't project as strongly as some niche brands. But honestly, do we need to gas-out our friends everytime we walk into a room? Both Orient and the Original would be used for the same situations, although I find Orient perhaps leans a little more to evening wear. All in all I'm really impressed with Orient and am considering a back up bottle, if I can find it. The quality of ingredients and performance is beyond anything you would expect from a fragrance at this price point. If you enjoy the general scent profile of the original MIB but you find yourself seeking out more challenging scents, definitely check this one out.

Quick review of Bvlgary Man Black Orient - EDP - Wonderfull looking bottle ! Good sprayer ! - Oud Leather fragrance - I love this type of scent. It's a cold weather fragrance. Wear it during a summer hot day and even flies will try to be miles away from you! - Smooth, well blended, good notes harmony during it's evolution ! - Atracts compliments from Oriental frags lovers! The Rum / Cardamom opening is quite great. The introduction of Taif Rose along with Tuberose does team along quite well with the Oud and Leather base notes. It does have a loud projection so be calm with the sprayer. Its sillage peaks at 5~6 feet till the end of the 3d hour. The dry down has a generous sillage still, and do expect to have a practical skin scent till the 12/14th hour. It does have a well above average performance and perform even better on clothes! - Does not smell cheap or syntethic. It really smells classy and Bvlgary marketeers did not need call it F****** Oriental or some other similar name! - It's somewhat different from Man in Black. It does have a vibe from the original but the opening booze and the strong Oud and Leather do make it quite different. - In my top 10! - Price is still above Bvlgary Man in Black. It will go down a bit more in the future. This is a fragrance that -in my opinion- improves everything good about Man in Black - the famous previous flanker - and solves all its weak points, taking the original olfactory idea to its maximum artistic expression - without leaving its series, of course -: - Creamier, more mysterious, more refined... better blended, better performance, better sillage... If you like MiB, it's hard not to like this one; it also dispels that inconvenient “drunken scoundrel” reminiscence of the first: Black Orient replaces MiB's tobacco with cardamom, orris with Taif rose and benzoin with oud, creating a fantastic olfactory composition albeit a little darker, more enigmatic and elegant. Unfortunately it wasn’t cheered on YouTube as happened to its sister who became the bet of the brand, discarding the rest of similar iterations. If you like MiB and you can get this, you shouldn't hesitate, although I don't advise paying collector's prices either. So I see the shelf with the fragrance bottles and I reach out and pick up the black bottle crowned with gold, knowing that with each new breath, it draws closer to its dark destiny...

I like oud, so I could not pass by, I honestly expected that oud note would be strong enough, but it is rather a light shade here, it's strong presence begins to disappear quickly, and it goes far to the second place, It seemed to me that there was a cinnamon, although it seems like it is not in the composition, it appears with the skin, cinnamon sweetness as well as oud makes a step back, but the skin does not want to go anywhere. And at some point you can smell something floral, I would even say with a light, barely perceptible fresh note of menthol, almost not audible. Cardamom has not yet caught, but as they say, it's not evening yet. For me this aroma associates with the autumn period, such cool windless evening in the end of September when there's about +12C , and around dryly, leaves rustle under legs. But I will be actively testing it in March, I can't wait six months, too long) Began to actively wear it, and now I decided to add that in about 3-4 hours it becomes very similar to versace oud noir in it's early stage, and I really enjoyed it, because The latter gradually becomes fresh-oceanic by the end.

I can see this being my signature fragrance for a loooong time. It smells very similar to Man in Black original, but a little better performing. The oud is very mild, and hard to detect. There is a pencil shavings/paper/cardboard accord here that i love. I found this accord in the OG MIB as well. It is very pleasant, warm, and alluring. People around you will feel nice and cosy. It isn't too harsh, although there are spices which some may find harsh if oversprayed. The projection is decent and forms a nice scent bubble and leaves a pleasant trail, which is perfect for me. The longevity is quite good. Will last more than eight hours easily in colder weather. I think the search is over. I'll settle for this. Edit: after wearing this for a few weeks, i notice one way in which I like the original MIB better: the sweetness from the Tonka. I miss that here. I wish there were some vanilla/Tonka here. There is some floral sweetness, but it isn't the same. I layered it with some vanilla perfume oil. Now it is perfecto.

Redundant to a degree if you already like "Man In Black"... I enjoy flankers that are similar yet different, which this is barely. However, it's a solid fragrance just like the original with a few very minor tweaks. Meh... It's about the same scent profile as "Man In Black", which I love... The only difference is the dry down which is somewhat more floral, less sweet... A little more woody. The oud and rose are very subdued, if you like rose in a masculine setting, this is an inexpensive and satisfactory route to go. I enjoy this as I do the original MIB. I would probably prefer this one to the original as it's a bit more complex and alluring as this type of scent is supposed to be. Either way, for the price, I don't think you can go wrong if you're looking for a modern woody scent. Longevity and sillage are great, just like with MIB... 8+ hours, first 2-3 of good sillage. It's solid. I'll probably purchase Black Orient when my bottle of MIB is done.

Just Add Rum! Bvlgari Man Black Orient is Bvlgari Man in Black with a rummy, leathery twist. The same warm, spicy cinnamon DNA of Man in Black (MiB) dominates here. Supported by the warm spiciness of cardamom. Softened with a soft and lightly-ambery rum, and enriched with a deep and mildly-sharp leathery note. There is no oud here at all. So do not try it hoping for oud. Warm, spicy, rummy, leathery, slightly-ambery. If you've been into masculine fragrances for a long time, you probably already smelled that warm spicy cinnamon note in MiB, V&F's Spicebomb, and Costume National Homme. Well, Man Black Orient keeps that same note but with the best twist I've smelled. Penhaligon's Halfeti has the 2nd best with the cypress. Smooth, warm, spicy, leathery...Black Orient stands unique among the rest of this cinnamon family. Masculine and dark. A manly, cool weather wear. "Love!"

In my humble opinion, this is the best BVLGARI fragrance ever. It is niche juice in a designer bottle. It lasts forever (figuratively speaking) and projects more than any designer frag I own. Quick story, I got mine 3 years ago from the Birmingham Airport and there were only 3 left. I decided, what the hell, let me take all 3 (got a whopping 5GBP discount for it lol) and the next day I regretted it (wait for it). I was thinking: "When will I ever use all of these? If I wanted more I could just buy it once I finish the first one, right?" Well now I'm so glad I did it, because this thing is nowhere to be found. And while I'm not selling any of the bottles (2 of them are still brand new, sealed), I can offer decants (EU only sorry NA) for those unlucky souls who haven't yet smelled this masterpiece!

Bvlgari Man Black Orient is a spicy, woody, smoky, oriental fragrance. When sprayed, its opening it feels a bit aggressive, spicy and medicinal. This sensation lasts about 30 minutes, but then it becomes softer, more floral and sensual. Already in this phase it is more similar to its mother fragrance Bvlgari Man in Black, where the note of leather and other sweet notes such as vanilla or tonka bean stand out. It is a fragrance to be worn preferably in winter or autumn or at night, due to its warm and woody spicy style, it could also be used for a date. This version also gains in intensity and duration compared to the original Man in Black, but always maintaining the elegant style of Bvlgari. I liked it a lot, even more than Bvlgari Man Black, it is stronger in the spicy and leather notes.

I smelt this at a Duty Free in Brasil and loved it. Upon return to the US I discovered it's hard to find and pricey. I bought a decant and my love turned to a solid like. This is a well rounded, non-spicy soft oud with a very faint floral background. Generally acceptable in any work or social gathering, projection and longevity is about average. All in all a refined, well made and masculine scent but not overly unique or original. I don't see the need to add this to my collection but I'll enjoy my decant until its gone. On a side note, the prices of this have come down considerably, I see bottles on line in the $40 range. If you are in the market for a soft high quality oud fragrance and can get a bottle of this for under $50, then grab it, you won't be disappointed.

Aside from the stunning bottle, this is quality juice. It opens very spicy and strong. I was not a fan of the opening, but this grows on you throughout the wearing. Eventually the Oud calms down and makes way for that majestic Man in Black base. With that said, the Oud is present throughout the entire fragrance and smells sublime. Personally, I am not a fan of Oud, but Black Orient creates a paradigm shift in my olfactory bulb. This one lasts a commendable time, and projects nicely. I could smell it one my hand, very slightly, the next day. In short, Black Orient is an excellent flanker to the already spicy Man in Black. On the contrary. it is less versatile but definitely more special. For the more fancy wearers who long for a bit of Oud in their spices.

This is my favorite cold weather fragrance, period. The oud / leather is a classic masculine smell and the taif rose plus tuberose is much more appealing to me than the normal oud / rose combination. Throw in the booze and cardamom and this is one classy spicy oriental fragrance for men. And yes, the pencil shavings comparison that everyone mentions is accurate. In a good way. Performance may not be beast mode but it's not far off. It lasts 8 hours and projects well for a solid 2 hours. Sillage is good too. Walk through a wine bar and heads turn. I've received a lot of compliments. Sadly, this stuff is hard to find now and getting more expensive. I'm not sure if it's been discontinued or just interrupted by the pandemic.

One of my top fragrances. Its spicy, boozy, a little leathery and yet just a bit floral... and in all the best ways. I don't know what a masterpiece is, but man this is good. It lasts all night long (its not an office scent) and I've yet to meet someone who doesn't adore the scent. Women and men ask me what I'm wearing; even my mom loved it so much she bought it for my dad. It's only draw back is its limited versatility. This is for cold nights. You can wear it formal or at a party (might be too much for a sweaty club though) but its for the night time. You can wear it for the crowd, but I wear it for myself because I love the way it makes me feel and smell. 8/10 from me because I can't wear it all day everyday.

@sdfreshscents, I hear you! Prices have exploded, and I find the quality not as good as it was before covid shutdown the entire world. There's only a handful of companies that produce most of what's on the market today. Because they are able to monopolies the industry we are at their begging. What I believe needs to happen is awake call for these companies. If most of us started to buy more smaller start up companies, these conglomerates will take note in their sells and will need to return a more reasonable price point. Unfortunately most are hooked on brand names. I have several not as well known purfumes and are just as good as these big names. Good luck trying to find one at a decent price.

I had so many expectations for a new perfume to the rose but I tell you now that I have been disappointed. the opening is pleasant, very alcoholic (rum?) and strong with slight notes of cardamom .... then the best part ... rose !!!!! but lasts few minutes ... along with tuberous ... this part is very pleasant because the flavor is intense and floral and feels it coming something pleasant incensed .... and I said wow !!!!! and then .... then the end of everything ... the oud comes in the form of a heavy and oppressive smoke covering everything. It left with a wood smoke smell burned with little sillage and little longevity. what a disappointment. 5/10.

What can I saw? This has been my all-time favorite signature scent since 2020. Black Orient is a gorgeous, surprisingly easy-to-wear fragrance with a Spicebomb EDT-like cool cinnamon and boozy sweet opening, with a lovely floral, oud and leather dry down. I get excellent longevity with this fragrance, and projection is moderate but not overpowering. I bought a full bottle when they were under USD $100, but now that prices have exploded, this will be my first and last bottle. Once it runs out, I will embark on a journey to find a new signature scent, but until that day comes, I shall enjoy my time with Black Orient.

First of all: not similar at all with classic Black or others. Nope. Got a sample and this is absolutely breathtaking. A true gem...this is a niche made by Mr. Morillas, with exquistie ingredients. I adnit sometomes Bvlgari are making mainstreams with niche quality. The oud is from natural sources and it is surprising for a mainstream. Unfortunately the price is very high, around 300 eur for a 3.4 oz bottle But instead of an annoying Xerjoff, I'd better spend this amount for something unique and rare like this one It is very rare and extremely hard to find but still available on eBay.

Woods out of an arid landscape, soft flowers, leather and a little spice. I love it and when wearing it I can't stop smelling myself. It is Man In Black Plus, if you will. Similar but, to me, better. As others have pointed out; more specific than Man In Black. An analogy: if you had MIB's template of smells and they were all turned up halfway, this one has some notes turned up to 80% and some down to 20%. Unfortunately I think it is discontinued as shops don't seem to sell it anymore for a while now and online it becomes increasingly harder and more expensive to find.

This is another special fragrance from the beloved House of Bvlgari. I personally love Bvlgari as I grew up wearing their fragrances and our engagement rings were Bvlgari. This is a rich and luxury fragrance with a hint of booze and exotic spices. I find it a bit dark and dense though, so I don't overspray and stick to wearing this on darker/colder days. I also own MIB and MIB Orient is definitely heavier, denser and longer lasting. MIB in that sense may be more versatile. Scent: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10 Longevity: 9/10

Very good cold weather scent. I enjoy the warmth you get from the woody notes, little bit of spice to me and minimal Oud (I live in the Middle East and there are much more noticeable Ouds). It’s an intoxicating date night fragrance that has good longevity, average sillage and projection (this is what I want on a date) so it does it’s job. Better than Man in Black due to performance and the spice that increases its complexity. A great safe blind buy if you’re into dark scents. Rating: 4.25/5

By far the best scent in my collection. Bought this one in 2018. Was planning to buy MIB then they showed me this one and I immediately had a feeling that this one is just another gear with well blended notes that last an eternity. I even remember spraying in the seat belt of my friends car and he could feel it few days later. I don’t know why but it lasted an eternity on my skin and on my clothes even after washing them. I need to buy at least 3 bottles for the rest of my life.

This is great! I haven’t smelled Man in Black, is this supposed to smell like it?? This is Smokey, I almost get an Amouage Interlude man Vibe(maybe because of the intense spice in this?), I swear! I’m surprised I’m the only one commenting about that, this stuff is dope, It fits my personality, It last quite a while, maybe 9hrz on my skin and projects so well, Silage is heavy too, And this is a Niche Quality IMO I’m just curious to get Man in Black to know if it’ll be the same!

Great leathery-spicy oud. I know the oud-rose blends are spreading like wildfire, so if you are looking for a more subtle oud but you don't like rose, this is definitely one to look at. Like I noted for Gucci Guilty Oud, I don't like "oudy-oud" - it has to share the stage with another accord or two, and the leather, cardamom and boozy notes make great partners for the soft, synthetic oud in this one. Taif rose is listed but it never strikes me as a oud-rose scent.

On my bottle it says Perfume, does that mean its not an EDP as stated by fragrantica ? Anyway if you like the man in black series, it does not necessarily mean you actually will enjoy this one as its totally different. The first spray is a blast of strong heavy smoke, very well blended, but it seems like it never really develops from there on, it is just a strong smokey oud with hints of rose, i like it but this is not a safe buy if you dont like heavy hitters,

So I got my bottle, and I like this very much. To me it's very similar to the original Man in Black. It's the addition of oud that makes it different, more dense and heavy. This one goes right up there among my favourites perfumes. I see other people write about the rose, but in all honesty I can't detect any rose. It's nothing floral here to me, but it could just be my nose. The only negative to me is that it's maybe to close the original.

I just had to come back after a few days and rave a little bit about this... masterpiece... yes I said it. This is what Spicebomb Extreme wanted to be. More masculine and longer lasting. Very natural smelling leather. Delicious and spicy cardamom. I get some pipe tobacco even though it’s not listed. Oud in there too. It’s divine. On paper, it lasts over 24 hours. Sillage is incredible. Discontinued? How and why?? Snatch this stuff up now.

I love Oud, I love Leather, I love Oud/Leather, I love boozy fragrances, I love Man in Black, I love other Bvlgari fragrances... but I do not have more than an "yeah... it's Ok" for Men in Black Orient. I recognise the beauty of the bottle, the well above average performance, that it does not smell cheap... but my car does not fit in this garage. It's probably my fault as I also consider Sauvage and Bleu as average fragrances.

Splendid, to me more impressive than MIB original. Sweet and spicy scent at the top. smokey and leathery at the dry down. I am smelling tea note, but it's not listed, may be the combination of Taif rose and Tuberose gives that vibe. The oud note not strong, and very nice. The performance, also impressive more than MIB. The down side is the sprayer, they should make one like the sprayer of MIB orginal 30ml.

All the Bvlgari Man Black/in Black & Viktor&Rolf Spicebomb fragrances are selling variations of the same scent. Black Orient is no different, despite the deceiving note pyramid. This is not an oud fragrance at all but, to me, is the best of the Spicebomb variations. Yes, I said Spicebomb because they came up with scent first. It's the same cinnamon-spicy scent but more mature & formal. Big like.

It's an interesting twist on the OG with leathery oud accord. It's darker and denser but deep in dry down, it's indistinguishable from OG in the air. Although I still like my OG 2013 bottle better than this but this one definitely has its own kick. I think it gives a better evening experience. Sad it's discontinued though. Anything discounted makes me no wear it for the fear of finishing it.

Very strong, even for me. I would say this is for mature men, it's very masculine, it would smell absolutely stupid on a teenager unless they're boozing and smoking and hanging out with older men. did not expect the classic mountain style pink oud combination. this is a combination that goes in a different direction, a little more acidulous, which is not a defect. the oud is sweet that makes everything fantastic with rum and then the sweetness of the tuberose makes it almost a masterpiece. I don't notice much leather and cardamom I would give 9 if it had more performance. total 8.

I purchased this cologne today for my teenage son. He followed his mother’s footsteps in becoming perfumista lol:) I must admit that this is absolutely amazing cologne. I layered it with Alien EDP and turned out to be one of my favourite layerings combinations. I will definitely ‘borrow’ often this cologne from my son as he is borrowing my Shalimar, Mitsouko and vintage Samsara.

Orient is the driest, darkest, and the woodiest of the MIB line. Leather and synthetic oud is very prominent here. In addition, this scent profile varies most from the OG. This is the most animalic. As of this review, I would rate the MIB line like this: Essence #1, OG #2, and Orient #3. That said, they are all good and this order may change for me in the future.

The best cold weather perfume in my collection. Adding oud to this line in this fragrance is the greatest idea a noz can have. It simply makes this fragrance the best in the line, far away from the Essence that was my favorite until I discover Black orient. It's long lasting and the sillage is great. This is a masterpiece !

Initial impression short review Very pleasant oud leather, sweetened by booze, amplified by cardmamom, tempered by smooth florals. After the initial boozy blast, settles after a couple hours to an oud leather similar to Versace Oud Noir. Performance seems just ok, however, still might want a whole bottle...

I have tried this scent about 4-5 times resulting with an hash opening, that really didnt dissapered in the drydown. The 6.th time I tried it, the hash smell was gone. Now the scent is really good. I dont know if it is my nouse that has adapted to the smell or if it was something in the top of the bottle.

I re-evaluated this perfume yesterday. I was disappointed because as a previous writing I would have liked to smell the floral notes of pink and tuberose. but they are absent. I feel a dark scent almost niche, leather, oud and smoke and a light rum and very high performance. 9/10

One of my "go-to" scents. On my skin it projects a very warm wood and spice note. Definitely a cold weather fragrance as it turns a bit muddy in hot weather. On skin performance lasts a solid 6 hours, while lingering on clothes much longer. I love it!

Got it last autumn for a really good price and it was a blind buy based on reviews here. What can I say, it is one of best blind buys! It has the leathery accent I was looking for but what I got as extra was a rich cherry. And I love it.

This is my all time favorite spicy leather oud rose scent. Strong projecting, long lasting, very masculine. 10/10 for me. I bought a backup bottle before prices exploded. I wear this at home a lot during the winter just to feel good.

this is what spicebomb would be. A winter spicy perfume, with a touch of sweetness and floreal, a dark sweet/spicy one, intriguing. A man dressed in black, also in black leather jacket or brown. It is good for night winter/autumn.

Love this best of the line .I have all spice bomb SB extreme the regular MiB too but I keep reaching for this but also running out and can't find a new bottle anyware can some suggest some thing that same with tuberose and rum

this seems to be an offspring between pdm Habdan and La Yaqawam pour homme by rasasi. Although incense isn't mentioned in the notes, but i do get incense in this. Beautiful beautiful fragrance. Very underrated gem for sure

Reminded me a lot of Spicebomb when I first tried it on my hand. And after a full wearing I fall in love. Very nice and not that close to Spicebomb specially when sprayed on clothes. Gonna use a hell lot of that fragrance.

The opening of this cologne really attracted me..the rum and the cardamom gives it a subtle sweetness. The oud that comes in after is a little powdery for me, it could be smoother. Very masculine though!
