Bvlgari Man In Black

Alright, so I'm making my way back here to give this a more adequate review now that the weather for me is starting to cool down significantly... Was surprised at the performance of this. I sprayed a little more modestly after seeing around maybe 2022, there was some mysterious batch change that made this into shit, after research, I learned my bottle is from 2020, so maybe that says something? Though I'm skeptical of yall with your batch talk after seeing some reviews of other frags... Lol. First of all, the smell this has, is different. I initially labeled it as a boozy kind of spicy vibe. I like it quite a bit, but it kept leaving me feel like I needed something more? Like there was a note or something that this was missing that it just needed to send it over the cliff, but that note never came. Thats not really a bad thing, maybe the newer parfum has this note. But what I got from this, was on opening, a very spicy boozy feel, that shifts into the same booziness, but extremely powdery with some spiciness added in as it dries down. My only real complaint with it, is that I kept feeling as though I wasn't quite of age to wear this one yet. I'm 31 so it felt like the vibe, but I'm learning I may have to let this one sit for a little longer or maybe hit a super cold winter day with it and maybe I won't have that feeling. Lol. That isn't so much a complaint with this, I like how it smells, and it smells amazing for what it is, but idk maybe another year or so and I'll think different here. So I guess what I'm saying, is if you are younger than maybe 30, probably stick to the spicebomb extreme. :P Longevity was good for me... Again bottle is 2020, so its got a few years, but I sprayed this on at 3 pm today, and as I write this at almost 12:30 am, I am still detecting its powdery goodness. Sillage is good, maybe more moderate than strong, but it seems to stay pretty moderate through most of its longevity. Only a couple of times during my wearing was I kind of wondering where it went, only to be greeted by it shorty there after. All in all, I like this, I want to love it, but I don't yet, and I think its entirely because I'm just too young still for this one. Will be coming back to it when its even colder, and when I'm another year older :P

I can’t really say anything more than what has already been said but I do want to mention how great I think this scent is.... I’m a big fan of Spicebomb, Pulse of the Night, Herod, Oajan, Habdan, Carlisle, Blessed Baraka, Side Effect, Rehab, Dior Homme Intense, Guerlain L’homme Ideal EDP, Philipp Plein No Limits, and this fits right in there with them, I pick up on similarities between each one. The opening is just magnificent, I really enjoy it. I get a nice big blast of warm spices, rum and a clean tobacco leaf with a waxy, leathery undertone. Within moments the powdery iris and a slightly indolic tuberose show up, which I just love, adding a very pleasant floral nature to the mix while retaining its sensuality and masculinity. The base of tonka, guaiac wood and benzoin perfectly compliments the rest of the composition, leaving you with a slightly sweet, creamy, earthy, leathery, gentlemanly and seductive aura. I get average performance from my more recent batch, I’d say around 6-7 hours. Spraying my clothes might stretch it an extra hour or so but it’s still not crazy strong, which to some might be a good thing. I feel this is a more refined, mature take in comparison to Spicebomb, so if you feel that’s a bit too sweet and youthful, or even aggressive, Man In Black is different enough and at its price point it’s certainly worth looking in to. Great for business professionals or more rugged individuals who don’t want something too fresh and sporty, yet enjoy more traditional scents, maybe even classic fougere’s but want something more modern, sexy and alluring. This is better suited for the colder months. Perfect for fall and winter, day and night. All in all, this has been brilliantly executed at the hands of master perfumer Alberto Morillas and one he should be very proud of. Ps. The sprayers for these bottles can be kind of finicky... they’ll either provide a nice even distribution if pressed down more aggressively, or shoot out across the room like a jet stream if pressed down slow and gently. There’s really no in between.

So, my review feels way overdue for this fragrance. I got my bottle of Bvlgari Man In Black around August 2022, and it quickly became one of my favorites. It gives the fragrance a unique, edgy complexity, perfect for colder weather or evening wear. If you enjoy Spicebomb Extreme, you’ll find similarities here. Both share a spicy, warm core with a vanilla-style sweetness, but Man In Black feels more mature, with dark rum and leather providing a deeper, more refined profile. Projection is strong for the first 45 minutes, then settles into a 2-foot scent bubble. Longevity is around 7-8 hours on skin (not much longer on clothes), though the last 2 hours are more of a skin scent, with a woody, sweet base that lingers close. I like to wear this after priming my skin with Iso E Super body lotion, which helps the fragrance perform better overall. The name *Man In Black* is perfectly matched to the fragrance, as it would be ideal for a black-tie event or similar occasions—classy, bold, and sophisticated. Overall score: 9/10. Especially from discounters, this fragrance offers great value for its price. It’s bold, refined, and long-lasting, with a perfect balance of maturity and opulence. Highly recommended! (Tip: For better projection, always double-spray each area you choose to apply it!)

Totally disappointing. I hope this review helps. I bought a bottle in late August, I opened it, sprayed it a few times to smell it and let it sit until November 30, which is the day I wanted to wear it for the first time, at a wedding. I sprayed it a few times in my room during that period just to enjoy the fragrance. The day came and I wore this, sprayed it on me like 14, 15 times, maybe more, I was wearing a suit for the wedding. To my surprise, projection was nonexistent and longevity was really poor, maybe 3 hours. I wore it again the next day and today with a shirt and had the same result. Super disappointed with this, since the smell is absolutely fantastic. I also have Bvlgari Blv and it has the same issue. However, being a blue, fresh fragrance, this kinda performance is expected from it. I never expected a fragrance of this profile to have such a poor performance on me, especially after 3 months of oxidation. And for the price it goes, I feel like I got ripped off. Oh, and the atomizer is trash. It’s not a spray, it’s a spring, a stream. Scent - 10 Projection - 3 Longevity - 3 Smells great in the air but test it out on yourself with a decant so you can check the performance before buying, ESPECIALLY for the price point it goes.There are sooooo many cheaper, great scents with much better projection and longevity.

Started out sweet and almost gourmand...but I left it a few weeks and its opening is now a gently peppery leather rum....delightful.....grabs immediate attention and its richness is assertive but not harsh or hasty. This fragrance is subtle but masculine from the off. The drydown blends some benzoin and spice into the steady iris which is happily NOT a make-up powder type and blends delicately with the nutty aspect of the tonka bean....nothing feels sharp or out of place. Its got a darkness to it, but its not dense or too moody. Its mature and confident but not bold or loud, an understated elegance. Basenotes are barely detectable....so it fades fast. BUT the major negative is it really isn't good enough on Performance and longevity... i get about 2 hours tops and projection is around mediocre at best, its just a little weak for my tastes. The scent is original and fascinating. I just wish it was stronger and lasted more. I'd give this a 5/10, if it had better performance i'd give maybe even a 9, but its just too weak excellent one for work, you're probably not going to offend anyone wearing this lovely gentlemanly scent and it stays close to the skin.

The opening to this is a wonderful tobacco-spice, with the smell of something like Haitian Barbancourt rum without the kick to it. It isn't in your face, and it's really quite exquisite. As it dries down, it turns into a more smoky, incense type of fragrance, like Myrrhe Mystere by Tom Ford, except not as expensive. Definitely would recommend for the winter night and day, or a hot summer night. It also has a resemblance to Gucci Guilty Pour Homme EDP to me, but faintly. I don't like this fragrance because its too strong of a smell to me, but this takes that smell and mixes it with wonderful incense and spice. I would definitely recommend this for a very masculine man, but if you make yourself look classy enough (e.g le smoking suit or gold bangles and anklets with traditional bedouin wear), I think it would definitely be more unisex. Lasts fairly right, and has a nice sillage. Not too big, but enough so that the person next to you and behind you in class can smell what you're wearing and ask what it is.

One of my favorite fall scents. Incredibly dark, warm, slightly powdery and very masculine. It’s a more adventurous than formal scent for me though, because it has notes that remind me of a pirate ship on the high seas, or even a classic rock star vibe. Tobacoo, rum, spice, leather- very rich, warm/spicy, but not too thick nor synthetic like many modern, dark EDP fragrances can be (spicebomb extreme, for instance, literally hurts my nose with its thick, synthetic nature). The only thing I don’t like about it is the leather I think, there’s something a bit sharp in the dry down stage that I would prefer have a more rounded and woody vibe as opposed to the rubbery leather. It might be leather or rum, not exactly sure, or maybe a combination of the two. However, that’s just a small critique as overall I love the blend- very evocative, pleasing, and transports me to a different era. Definitely test before buying, it’s not good for a fresh, young vibe- more of an adventurous (yet classy) man.

This was a bit of a blind buy, but I was already familiar with and enjoyed the Man line before trying this one on skin. The note breakdown on Fragrantica seems accurate overall, though on me, one note stands out more than I expected. I believe it’s the iris, but I could be misidentifying it — what I pick up is something powdery, almost reminiscent of lipstick. To me, this is a fragrance that feels suited for adult nights out — the kind spent in a classy lounge surrounded by attractive, well-dressed people. It has a confident, assertive presence and can lean aggressive if overapplied, so I usually keep it to two or three sprays. On occasions where I want to lean into a bolder, more dominant mood, I’ll push it a bit further. This is a scent I genuinely enjoy smelling on myself, and performance has been solid for me, lasting roughly six to eight hours. It’s not subtle, but it’s intentional — a fragrance I reach for when I want to feel composed, confident, and a little unapologetic.

Been on the hunt for a pretty specific frag i keep smelling in the wild. This was not it, though what it is, is pretty damn great! Spices, rum, a touch of Iris, little bit floral with all that. Reminds me of if you mixed TF Noir Extreme with a touch of Black Orchid, then upped the masculinity level in it. Got a fairly old bottle in dated 04/2020, so I got a little lucky with it hopefully being less reformulated than the newest versions. This seems to be a frag though where the formulation doesn't matter, it seems to be one where either its a beast, or it absorbs into your skin quickly. Right now, this stuff seems to be sticking to me pretty good. Catching beautiful lofts of it all the time. I will get a full wear of this as soon as a cooler day comes around. At that point I can review this more fully. But so far I love it! Can confirm it lasts longer than many users "20 minute" quote, it's actually quite thick on me here!

Man this does smells so good. Probably the only fragrance that combines my favorite notes, tobacco, rum, leather and cardamom, in an amazing, appealing scent. Not overtly masculine as some here suggest, but yeah definitely masculine. Very popular in the community but not overused in real life, so you will still be smelling unique somehow. For cold or fresh nights only. I love mine but stopped using it when going out because a few occasions after I understood the "mature" take on this, while I still use it occasionally at home. Now I use Blazing Mr. Sam, which are somewhat close, as my bars and going out at night scent because is a bit bolder and younger, but this is still a great one. Yes it is mature, not old-mannish but I would say +35. Classy, not formal-only but elegant and old-school rockstar. Lasts a decent time and moderate projection, turns weak after like 4 hours, which is enough for me.

I love this fragrance, and it permanently owns its spot as my Fall Oriental/Spicy selection. This popped out as me as something I needed to own when I was smelling tons of fragrances at Nordstroms. I think having this and Spicebomb or SpiceBomb Extreme can be a bit redundant. MIB is smoother, more sophisticated, and seems more mature than SpiceBomb. I think it beats it slightly on price. If you are looking for a quality super cheap clone of this try Lattafa Awsaaf ($25): They are extremely similar, but of course MIB has more notes (especially tobacco) and performs better. Awsaaf is a bit sweet before the dry down, but they get close. I get good performance from MIB (7 hours) and confidently recommend this to you. My teenage son even sprays this on as a preferred departure from his sweet JPG and 1Million heavy collection.

I love it ,it's perfect for the cold weather,the rum and tobacco notes in it are well blended with the perfect amount of spices and iris,the opening is kinda harsh but it dries down to perfection ,i don't know if it's just me but after 2-3hrs i start to find it sweet which is a bonus to me ,it makes it so sexy,dark and masculine.. what actually amazes me is the longevity and the performance ,i bought a 3+years bottle that was well preserved i don't know if the maceration helped with it ,but it stayed on my clothes and on my skin for a+14hrs which is crazy compared to the comments and the reviews i heard ,also it projects well maybe +5ft for a decent time .

Mature, masculine, classy, peppery-spicy, leather-tobacco warmth; this one really has it all, and at a reasonable price. Heavy enough for cooler weather, yet light enough for summer. Some say it was inspired by PdM Herod, which I love, and I get that, but I like the scent of Man in Black better (it's not redundant to own both). I'm agreeing with those who state performance is not great. However, I'm basing this on my first bottle which is from 2023. Since I heard it was reformulated some, I purchased an OG bottle from 2014 and I'm getting better performance. Highly recommend; likely blind-buy safe, but grab a mini-sized bottle if you're ascared.

Don't listen to the women in the reviews below. There's absolutely nothing feminine, let alone unisex about this scent. I swear, women in fragcom would argue that John Varvatos' Dark Rebel is a feminine or unisex scent if they find it appealing. This scent may be too masculine for some men even, as it has a nod to the "old school" influences of male perfumery while still remaining modern. If you're a woman who likes this, it's not that it's feminine or unisex, but rather you just have taste that deviates from the norm. Nothing wrong with having deviant taste, just please stop misleading people who haven't tried this scent yet.

I blind bought this a few years ago and boyyy this fragrance is sooo sexy. It's probably the best one from the Bvlgari Man line and I have gotten many compliments on it. It opens boozy with spices and after a few hours it gives this warm, cozy, powdery-woody vibe. It is VERY similar to Spicebomb Extreme, so i would say it is redundant to own both unless you want the boozy spicy vibe that this one has in the beginning. This one is perfect for the fall and winter mostly nights. SMELL: 8.5/10 SILLAGE: 8/10 LONGEVITY: 8-10 hours SEASON: fall, winter SETTING: casual, date nights, professional settings MY SCORE: 8/10

This scent overall is very well blended and smooth. The spices are very mellow and not sharp at all, which is different from the spicebomb line (even though I love strong spices). I only get the boozy rum note faintly in the opening, but within 30 minutes the scent quickly transitions into a blend of spicy suede and non-lipsticky iris that's been dusted with vanillic tobacco leaves. The performance might feel sub-average at first, but it either needs to mature or you might be going nose blind. It a very sophisticated and enjoyable wearing experience but may be slightly mature in taste.

Underrated gem. The opening is probably my favourite of any perfume I've smelled. It perfectly blends spicy, dark, and subtle sweet accords and I wish it lasted longer. The drydown is also great though. I can't personally pick out any of the notes after it dries down because it's just so expertly blended, but it's up there with D&G The One and Givenchy Gentleman for me. It's very masculine and slightly on the mature side. It's also a lot stronger than the votes here give it credit for. If you need a nice elegant winter scent, this is a fantastic option.

I hate how I go noseblind to this perfume, because I truly love it. To me, it’s the definition of mature, captivating masculinity. It’s very warm and spicy, with everything in balance—without being too sweet, too boozy, or too powdery. It’s definitely better suited for evenings and mild temperatures. I really wish I knew whether I’m the one losing the scent or if the performance actually falls short. Either way, it ends up hurting the value for money. I can understand people saying it reminds them of Spicebomb. It's along the same line. However, MiB is less sweet, less 'easy' and therefore more sophisticated, in my opinion. I love to wear this myself, but I love it on a man as well. I think it's quite unisex, very feminine on a woman and very masculine on a man. Anyone wearing it with confidence and style would be able to pull this off. Very good one from Bvlgari; touché.

Literally the best perfume ever fucking made. Opens smelling like sweet whiskey and tobacco, then smells floral and then ends up smelling really really sweet. Too bad it’s greatness is as big as it’s shitty performance. The only thing that’s made this perfume a bit more intense in scent and performance has been freezing cold days for me. If not, it won’t last more than 3hs. Really sad state for a fragrance this good to be in

This is one of my absolute favorite fragrances and it's definitely a permanent part of my collection. It's super sexy and seductive. The spice notes are really noticeable and attractive, but not too heavy so it's not just a winter scent. The woody and leather notes give it a dark, masculine vibe that I love. Longevity is solid, and the sillage is decent, especially in the first hour, though I do wish it projected a bit more

I’m writing my second review on this fragrance since it’s been over a year since I’ve picked this up. First, every note is blended so perfectly that it’s one of those fragrances you smell walking by someone on the street and you want another sniff Notes aside, I get warm, spicy, woody, with a tint of vanilla. This last over 10 hours for me then becomes a skin scent. Crazy projection, and even crazier performance.

This perfume somehow manages to be a formal perfume that can be dressed down. But not too dressed down, it’s a mature scent that can be worn to the office, the kind of scent I would wear as a CEO. It surprisingly holds its own as a daily driver, doing well in every situation but extreme heat. Definitely try it before you buy it. Also I find it to have a nice deep incense note in its base. One of the greats 9/10

@Fady311 a blind buy is always a risk. That being said, if you are looking for a night, masculine and unique fragrance that will stand out, I would way yes. The combination of the top notes (spices and rum specially) make a very interesting, strong and masculine smell. I can tell you that I've been using it for several years and I will continue using it, and you can see that lots of other users also enjoy it.

This was my proper introduction into the fragrance world. And I am still in love with it. Is the performance good? No. Is it worth the price tag? Absolutely not. But is it an absolutely phenomenal fragrance that I would buy again if I had the financial capability to? You bet your arse I would. It is my favourite fragrance till date and I don't think anything will change that.

I can't love anything else after smelling this scent. Just so good, well blended, unique and so so beautiful. And it has NO similarities with spicebomb. Update: @Fady311 I did and glad i did. I'm a sucker for leather and tobacco. This checks both boxes with added tones of benzoin for sweetness and tuberose for florals. Smells sexy, grounded, well mannered and very gentlemanly. I didn't smell the old formula so I appreciate this for what it is instead of yearning for past times. Smells incredible and lasts decently on my skin. Love the bottle.. not the atomizer.

This is my signature fragrance and I’ve already used 6 bottles of it, but I should say that longevity sucks. Please somebody suggest a 1-1 alternative as I’m tired of reapplying and could never get over the smell. 100% recommended if you wear a suit and tie on day to day basis, this will boost your confidence and pleasure anybody who works with you.

I got this back in 2013 when I was on deployment and I remember this being so damn good and strong so I can only base my review from that batch. This was my signature frag when I got it, smelt spicy and deep, it had this special effect and was an instant love for me. Unfortunately I lost the bottle when I moved :( but god was this beautiful.

Well, most of people comment about bad performance, i know It depends on the skin ph... But most of these people just got noseblind. In my skin it last for 10 hours easily, and if i get noseblind i ask "do i still smells like parfum?" All the people say i smell from a couple of meters. So it's your nose, the fragrance works perfectly.

Has a similar spicy Spicebomb Extreme accord, but dialed back to make room for a much more interesting top & mid. This also prevents the spices from coming off as body odor-ish. It's a WAY better, more mature and interesting balance. I really dig it. Not nuclear but not nearly as bad performance as the other reviews seem to suggest.

Why I ignored this for so long? Mr. Morillas is a legend in the fragrance world and this might very well be his best fragrance. A stuning spicy and boozy fragrance, that is ultra-masculine and has excelent performance. I absolutly love the Rum note in this. It is a perfect night out fragrance for confident men. 9.5/10

It's like you got rid of half the spices in spicebomb, added rum and more tobacco, and sold it to me for a bit less. Still in my top 10, but it will never defeat my goat spicebomb, it did release first tho, so respect to Bvlgari for walking so Viktor & Rolf could run and beat the land speed record. 9/10

Dark, spicy, and straight-up seductive. Rum, leather, and tobacco give it that warm, mysterious vibe, like a villain in a tux. It’s bold, smooth, and perfect for cold nights or bold moves. Not for boys. This one’s grown man heat. I would say more masculine than the Spicebomb Extreme by Viktor&Rolf.

Easily one of the greatest designer fragrances ever made. A mature Spice Bomb Extreme. I will ALWAYS have a bottle of this in my collection. The profile, quality, and performance all swing above its weight class. This is one that others will smell on you and will compliment.

Spicy, resinous, tobacco fragrance with a rich leather, boozy, vanilla and iris backbone. Very manly fragrance for the colder months. I have a new bottle, and like mentioned below, I dont get crazy performance out of it. If you like the Spicebomb dna, you will love this.

This perfume is such a default, no frills, universally enjoyed fragrance. People going out of their way to write a paragraph about how much they hate it is completely wild to me. Some people will just straight up lie in order to cause discourse. Must be really bored

The scent is great,. To me is better then spicebomb and SBE. the leather the florals in here even things are not the star players love the direction that Bvlgari went with this DNA plus the bottle is very aesthetic. This is best for intimate settings.

Masterpiece. Absolute banger for the cold weather. This needs to be studied. Some similarity to spicebomb. Way better. Loved this since 2018 when my sister gave me a sample. I was 16 at the time. As Jeremy Fragrance would say, “SEXY BABEH”

coming back to this and really love it, less offensive and more sophisticated spicebomb. a classic, and its so so so cozy. you just cant hate this, unobtrusive but confident. shows up very sweet and almost more vanilla on me (as a woman)

To my nose, this is essentially a more classy, grown-up version of Spicebomb. It is incredibly well-blended and literally makes me feel like a millionaire when I wear it. A fantastic choice when you want to dress up and smell expensive.

I had an old bottle that I gave to a friend. Now, I’m regretting it. The new bottle I bought in October 2024 is a mere imitation of its former self. I’m disappointed. But let's see, after a few months of maceration. I'll report back.

I love it, opening is very good, the longetivety is also good, not a extraordinary projection but it's enough for a parfum like that, it's strong it think it's better if it's keep smooth and subtil. Good for date or winter time.

A REAL blockbuster. A warm, not too strong, very pleasant, comforting fragrance. It was a real love from the first sniff. This scent isnt much popular and IT IS ITS STRENGTH. You still May smell unique and crazy good.

So sad I'm a woman, if I were male I'd wear this scent every day. So sexy and deep, with a nice spicy rum smell. Very addictive, if my boyfriend would wear this sent I wouldn't keep my nose off of him. Defo reccomend.

This is my go-to scent for evening events. It's bold and sophisticated, just like the bottle suggests. The rum and tobacco notes are intoxicating, and the leather adds a touch of masculinity. Highly recommend!
