Leila Lou

11/29/19 - The description above starts out, “Leila Lou is a gentle, fresh and feminine scent.” Succinct and accurate, it’s crowd safe and a definite crowd pleaser! At first application, I got banana-pudding: I’m guessing that’s the pear blossom and vanilla notes. But as it settles, the jasmine enters the dance and keeps it from being sickingly sweet. Fresh cut grass is hiding; maybe it’s just enough to even out the sweetness so it does a great job if it’s in there. I hate it when all I smell is that hay/grass note. Not with this one. I’ve had it on now for 3 hours and it still smells wonderful. I’ll be honest - it does definitely remind me of shampoo. When I invested in this, working in the healthcare field, I was looking for something that wouldn’t offend the clientele I am around as they are not feeling their best, and the last thing they want to smell is something heavy and gourmand-y. This is clean, fresh, and super feminine. Smells just like what I want to smell like after a cleansing, refreshing shower. I absolutely love it! Daytime, springy-summery frag. Sexy and sensual? Well... IDK... do you consider yourself sexy and sensual? Then this perfume definitely is. YOU define the scent - don’t let it define you. Top notes: nectarine, fresh cut grass Heart: pear blossom, jasmine Base: vanilla, white musk 12/02/19 - I wore this to work - on a critical care unit - and my fellow staff and patients alike complimented me, and the pt’s don’t want to smell much of anything due to their compromised health state. Longevity is amazing - after 12+ hrs, they could still smell it on me. This is **THE** most perfect crowd-friendly, clean-smelling frag. I paid full price and I ain’t even sorry 🥰

WOW! I LOVE this! I did not know what to expect based on reviews. I keep changing up my signature. This is the one. This is my favorite Rosie Jane. I’m testing the roller ball mini. I may need to immediately buy the travel size until I can afford the full size. I have like close to 50 perfumes & this is my favorite. On me, it’s not too grassy or too sweet. It’s just right. My search is over finally! ... I’m relieved. It’s more floral & musky on me. Smells clean, pretty, bright, feminine like sparkling champagne. Goes with anything, day or night. Doesn’t smell exactly like shampoo, but has that beautiful hair / just showered vibe I wanted. It’s very well blended & refined. Smells like the perfect French girl coming from the salon. To die for. I do not even like to eat pears. I was worried because people said ‘canned pears’ or green jolly ranchers & I’m so glad, not on me ... absolutely sounded nasty to me. I don’t like sweets or fruity candy scents or like pure grass & usually don’t like green notes ... So glad tested & gave a shot. The pear sweetness is balanced perfectly with the jasmine & the musk to me. I want everything to smell like this. This smells like ME. I will need a spray to put some in my hair next. Reminds me a little of my Davines conditioner which is divine. I’m just obsessed with this! I’ll wear for a long time as my signature. I did not expect that whatsoever. Made my day. Thanks, Rosie! I have tons of expensive Chanel & fancy brands. Thousands of dollars of perfume. Didn’t expect this to smell expensive. It is just so chic! Day or Night. Perfect for Date Night. Every Season. I’ll be taking on my upcoming trip. It’s a classic for sure.

I'm trying to switch to more clean, sustainable and non-toxic beauty products lately. With perfume it's not that easy and it will, most likely, remain a weak spot in that regard. I think that Leila Lou is the first fragrance in my collection that ticks a lot of boxes - with regard to ingredients and packaging materials. I stumbled upon by Rosie Jane by accident: Petite Cherie is one of my favorite fragrances of AG and Leila Lou is listed in the "reminds me of" section. So I took the risk and ordered it blindly via niche-beauty (hooray). Leila Lou is indeed very very similar to Petite Cherie - so if you're not able to test Leila Lou in a store near you, try to find PC and see if you like that. If you do, you'll most likely like Leila Lou too :) The pear (blossom) is intense and straightforward in the beginning. There is an underlying juiciness of the nectarine and throughout a green accord of grass. The jasmine comes out a tad later and is more green-soapy, not indolic or very fleshy. All dries down rather soapy and musky, vanilla probably adds a bit of sweetness but honestly, I don't detect much. Leila Lou is all about the pear, grass, jasmine and musk. So if you don't like soapiness, pear and/or jasmine, steer clear of this one :) Longevity is moderate while sillage is enormous in the first half-/hour. After that it's more intimate, which adds to the appeal of the perfume and brand's concept, I suppose. My only qualm is the spray nozzle which "shoots", rather than mists. So I'll probably refill a little in another bottle to achieve more even distribution on my body. All-in very happy and loving Leila Lou!

when i first sampled this i was underwhelmed. but then i was going through my samples to find a fragrance for the day and i grabbed this one by chance. later that day i was laying in bed and wondering what smelled so fresh, like laying down in freshly cut grass in the spring, and realized it was me!! this is just BEAUTIFUL. simple, safe, wearable, yet still somehow unique. it reminds me of how the front yard of my childhood home smelled in the morning in spring. the breeze would carry the dew from the grass, the magnolias blossoming, and, my favorite, the scent of blooming texas mountain laurels. this is that smell. i’m addicted. it’s very grassy for me but the jasmine and pear undercut that and make it less earthy (sometimes grass notes come across to earthy for my taste). in my parents new home they have a trellis on the patio with jasmine and in spring they eat dinner outside right by the trellis and this perfume also recalls that scent to mind. but something about this is so lovely and comforting to me. it just makes me think of childhood springs so strongly. my birthday is in spring so it’s always been my favorite season and the nicest season in the south by far. this also lasts FOREVER. it’s one of those scents you’ll smell on your clothes when you’re pulling them out to wash them. i have literally no complaints or notes just perfect.

I’ve loved Leila Lou for years, first as the oil version, now as the edp. This is so close to Goutal’s Petite Cherie but much more affordable and longer lasting, I find! The pear, grass and jasmine are blended so beautifully together to create a friendly, casual, grassy, fruity floral that while youthful can definitely be worn by any age (who cares about those rules anyways!). On my skin this is actually not jasmine-prominent, as others have described, but more grassy and pear-forward. Leila Lou is one in my collection I reach for a lot (and it’s a sizable collection), as it’s so easy and enjoyable to wear. I didn’t realize for the longest time the perfumer behind this is Sarah Horowitz. When I finally discovered that, I understood why this resonated so much with me — she’s one of my favorite American perfumers and has created some of my most loved scents! Leila Lou is a gem!

I've been searching for something close to my beloved L by Gwen Stefani for years. A few have come close and then also been discontinued. A few more have been somewhat similar but not quite what I'm looking for. This fragrance is 90% similar to L. Slightly green, slightly aquatic, slightly sweet, slightly fruity, slightly floral, a bit juicy but in a dewy way, not a syrupy over ripe fruity way. Compared to L, this is a touch more green/grassy, a touch less sweet, and perhaps a whisper of soap/powder/musk but barely there. Silage is not too much, more than a skin scent but not obtrusive. Lasting power is good. A summer morning, pear trees, dewy grass in the morning light. Pretty, dewy, soft, a bit sweet. As close to L as I have found and I'm loving it.

I have to agree that this scent is fresh and feminine. At first spray, the fresh cut grass is sharp and there’s a sweetness (fruit or floral) that accompanies it. This fragrance is nostalgic and peaceful and reminds me of my childhood. It is sooo easygoing and I’ve been reaching for it several times a day (like a madwoman). The price point is amazing and the fact it’s a clean scent is a bonus for me. I’ve already ordered a backup bottle. This scent is for everyday, for anything and is suitable for anytime. It is inoffensive yet it has a quiet presence that’s undeniable. I hope they hat I never grow tired of it and that the formulation doesn’t ever change. I’m absolutely smitten with this fragrance.

I absolutely adore this one. Leila Lou starts out as a slightly herbaceous rose and jasmine scent, sweet without being cloying and floral without stuffiness. After about an hour, it settles down into something subtly fruity and vanillic. For me, there's a lovely little scent cloud that smells like rosy peach skin and lasts about 5 hours (with the oil, anyway). It really blooms in warm weather, blending with my natural skin scent in a way that I've not experienced with many fragrances. This perfume reminds me of mother-of-pearl -- gently gorgeous, mesmerizing, colorful but not gaudy, and a little different from every angle -- and I can't imagine a fragrance more perfect for summer.

This is one of those perfumes that just makes you feel clean and soft. It opens with this airy mix of jasmine and pear, but what really gets me is the fresh-cut-grass vibe in the background. I’ve always loved the smell outside right after they cut the grass, that fresh scent that hangs in the air. So it makes perfect sense why I ended up loving this perfume. It kind of brings that same feeling into a bottle. The dry-down stays soft and delicate, a hint of floral, and that whisper of green freshness that lingers in the nicest way. Perfect for spring.

I got it as a perfume oil sample from Sephora and I hated it at first. It smelt very strong and sharp but when I tried it again after a year... it was so gorgeous and juicy. When I smell it I imagine early spring morning and I’m sitting on a porch and I’m biting into the juiciest peach ever. Birds are chirping and I can feel sun shining on my face, I can also smell fresh cut grass. Beautiful scent and I wish I could get it anywhere in my country but unfortunately it’s out of stock. Still trying to find any dupe but nothing compares to this beauty

this perfume smells like a beautiful cross between juicy pear jelly bellies and a fresh spring day. on some days it smells sweeter on me, on others it smells greener. either way, it has a very nice right-out-of-the-shower quality to it that i really love. i've found that this works better for me in cold weather as opposed to warm. whenever i try putting this on on a hot summer day, it ends up being too jammy and indolic on me. this may just be because i hate the smell of hot grass though lol. works surprisingly well in the fall!

The very first time I tried this perfume I was in love! Its one of those perfumes that will leave a lasting impression. The staying power is amazing and the silage is just right. At first the pear scent comes right through but after about 20 mins it fades and the middle notes blossom through. The price is a plus for this perfume and if you are into fresh lively young scents, then this one is for you. Made with mostly natural ingredients also makes this perfume a good choice. Its one of those scents you have to try to believe.

I’m really loving this perfume I got in a By Rosie Jane sample set. LAMB, or “L” by Gwen Stefani as it’s called on Fragrantica, is one of my all-time favorite sweet and juicy scents, and on me, Leila Lou is a 95% match with it. I would choose Leila Lou over LAMB if I was going to repurchase because this one is clean, cruelty-free, and vegan. I love that all of the By Rosie Jane scents actually smell like their fragrance notes and not like the “generic department store perfume section” scent of so many designer scents.

Smells like Gap’s newest rendition of Grass Eau de Toilette. Freshly cut grass top notes, subtle Jasmine mid notes with a musky dry down. It’s not the same as the Gap Grass 1994 but it’s more like its latest bottle in stores. Smells great and at the fraction of the price. I own Rosie Jane and wish I had gotten Gap instead. I love both though! Smells like a white tee, blue jeans and a walk in a warm late spring evening after a fresh shower! Chic and effortless. It’s a great spring and summer fragrance.

Very nice floral scent that isnt too sharp or cloying , and not too fruity or sweet. Its just right. Pear and jasmine mixed together and I get a hit of something blossom? Top notes Remind me vaguely of Tommy Hilfiger Tommy Girl ,but softer. And the dry down is similar to bath and body works pear blossom spray (discontinued) and the dove pear deodorant. its a safe blind buy if you like florals in general. Very feminine pretty scent.

Wow. Wowowow. I did not expect this to be as good as it is. It's the perfect gentle dewy flower fairy fragrance, which is hard to find as someone who hates rose. I've heard a lot of people say it smells like grass, but on me that is thankfully not literal. It is grassy in the sense that it is green, fresh, bright and smells like spring, but not at all evocative of mown grass. This is quickly going to become a daily grab for me.

went through THREE bottles of this in college and picked up a travel spray a couple years ago for old time’s sake. even though this isn’t my every day vibe now, i can’t help but smile every time i smell it! it’s been perfect for the 80 degree early spring days we’ve been having. very floral, juicy, and fresh. i feel like it also creates a nice scent cloud that lasts, even if it’s not as noticeable on the skin after some time.

This is pretty much Spring in a bottle. I don't usually care for green notes but this is blended really well. It starts off with a strong jasmine with a hint of grass. The softer and fruiter floral notes come in and then the smoothness of the musk and vanilla. I agree with Betthany Frankel on this, this is giving rich woman at a summer party in the Hamptons. Its fresh and classy and something I'll be reaching for all summer

Juicy fruit, grass, and I swear I get a little lily of the valley. Wearing a white dress that was dried on a clothesline, eating a peach in a grassy field. Clean, but also very green. The grass is prominent enough to make it not boring. The drydown is better than the opening. I'm glad to have found something flowery and fresh that actually has decent sillage and longevity. I love this so much that I almost want to gatekeep it. It’s one of the only fragrances that I have gone through an entire bottle of, it smells so much more expensive then it is, like a greener Petite Cherie by AG which is my signature fragrance. I don’t see pear listed as a note but it’s definitely there, very pear and grass heavy and oh so lovely. It also lasts super long for such a fresh fragrance. Love love love.

Yay! Finally found a near dupe for my 1st real perfume Goutal's Petite Cherie. When PC topped out at $180.00 at Nordstrom, I decided to hunt for a similar scent. Probably tried 20 pearish scents but nothing close enough until Leila Lou. It is about 90% similar, and By Rosie Jane often has discounts. Now to try her other fragrances, as recycling her bottles and no animal testing appeal to me.

Absolutely love this perfume and cannot get enough of it. It smells perfect to me - floral, but not overpowering, comforting. It sits so nicely on the skin that you can just smell it a little when you move and it's the best. I'm in love with this one <3 I wear it a lot around the house and even to bed because this scent is just my happy place.

its a sparkling spring day, the grass is lush and green and you’re enjoying the first juicy pear from your blossoming pear tree... 🌿🍐🌸 very cute and wearable in most situations. not a ton of projection but it lasted a long time on my skin and i enjoyed catching whiffs of it! want a bigger size after i finish my sample

It’s a fresh, dewy and almost indolic jasmine that makes me feel so feminine, pretty and clean. I love to wear it when I’m going to be outside and want to feel extra fresh. I got one of my favorite comments wearing the perfume oil version: “wow it smells like fresh flowers here!” That’s exactly how I love to smell 🥰

Sweet, fresh, girly, clean. Such a perfect Spring scent. I was hesitant about this at first because on the initial spray the grass note is definitely present. After drying down on my skin a very strong soapy scent comes through which I love. Smells like I just hopped out of the shower. Makes me feel clean and happy.

A beautiful fresh (soft) grassy pear scent that has a little bit of sweetness to it as it dries down ( with a very present jasmin) . It does not smell like shampoo to me, but if your shampoo smells like this, pls ... drop the name ? So if you're into fresh fruity floral scents this for you :)

I love the idea of grassy and dewy notes in fragrances but in reality, they usually result in a cloying mess of too much dew. Leila Lou is the perfect blend of green grass, crisp florals with a touch of dewiness. I first wore this on a rainy summer day and it was a perfect fit.

I only blind bought this because it was an add on in a subscription box, as its totally not my scent profile.I love it! it's a spring green freshie with a smooth base beacuse of the musk and vanilla. It's perfect for daytime wear, out and about or around the house. easy reach.

A very crisp, clean scent that is almost exactly as described on the packaging, your favorite jeans and a white tee. I wouldn't call it a safe blind buy as I could see how the fruity crispness might come off as artificial on some skin types.

This perfume started off with a very strong Pear opening which I was very impressed with tbh. Then it kinda fizzled out to a clean fresh laundry scent. The dry down is where I noticed some floral notes and they were very lovely also.

this is gorgeous! I get a very sweet, almost caramel-y pear but the green notes help lighten it. I almost wish there were more green notes just because it might make it even more unique smelling but I love it

Photorealistic canned pears and nectarine! Super fresh, wet and grassy! Gorgeous and soft and sweet and dewy on my skin but not soapy. It almost reminds me of pear candy. I definitely want a full size now.

I usually don't like floral Fragrances, this is absolutely beautiful. You can also smell Strong fruit notes but not in a childish way. This is a wonderful day time, spring/summer scent.

This perfume feels both angelic and effortlessly cool like a forest nymph on a Brat Summer. Among the entire Rosie Jane line, this one truly stands out for its incredible longevity.

It smells great on my mom, but awful on me. It smells like fruity freesia- light and breezy, potent and lasts all day on my mom. On me, it’s bitter and smells like grass 😅

This fragrance opens up with a very bright and sweet pear note, and then it settles down into a scent that's a bit more green and mellow. The fragrance definitely stays sweet throughout, but it's a more vegetal kind of sweet than a gourmand leaning sweet. I've found that it lasts a while as well, which I was pleasantly surprised with, as this is definitely a lighter, airier spring/summer scent. I would say that this is unisex, but it leans slightly more "female" because of the inherent sweetness of the pear and jasmine notes. I never picked up a true grass scent with this, but as I've said, it's definitely a green based perfume. It's also supposed to be a "white tee and boyfriend jeans" kind of scent, but I don't know if that's how I would personally classify it. The fragrance is simple and linear enough that I think it's a great every day option for people who consider themselves to be more low key or casual, but I think the scent is just a little too bright to be consider a white tee, blue jean type. Instead, for me, it evokes more of a sunny cottagecore, cotton sundress and field of flowers vibe, if that happens to be your thing (and if it matters at all).

Pretty, Fresh, happy, clean, bright, and sweet. I really pick up on the syrupy pear and juicy nectarine notes, they’re the most prominent to me. I also get floral jasmine and fresh, clean, and green grass notes that intertwine beautifully with the fruity notes. The white musk and vanilla are subtle, but they do become more prominent during the dry down. Overall, I think this is a really pretty fragrance! I think Leila Lou is a pretty easy reach during the spring and summer months. It would work especially well for casual wear, outdoor occasions, and at the office/school. This is a great fragrance for the freshie lovers as well as fruity floral lovers. BRJ describes the feeling of this fragrance as “your favorite jeans & white tee”. I agree with that statement, but I would make it “picnicking in the grass under a pear tree in your favorite jeans & white tee. I get really good performance with Leila Lou. The longevity is great, it lasts the entire day on me. The projection is nice too, it radiates out about an arm’s length from me.

I don't think the notes here are correct/complete. I bought a travel spray, and it lists pear right on the box. I get mostly a synthetic pear, honeysuckle, and lily of the valley. If there is nectarine, it is not ripe. So, for everyone who says pear fragrances don't last on skin, this one is for you. This juice is nuclear! I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. This is one of those scents that is better smelled in the air. Don't put your nose on it. After the first hour or so, I stop getting most of the individual notes and it smells like synthetic pear and fabric softener had a baby. The fragrance it most reminds me of is Jessica McClintock. I own that as well, and it is also nuclear. This is a bit sweeter and has the added pear note. I would say they are both spring florals. I wouldn't wear either one in hot humid weather--they would choke you out. Given the limited season of wear, you probably don't need a full bottle.

I'm not usually a floral or fruity scent kind of girl, but jasmine is an exception to my floral rule and so is this perfume. The jasmine and the pear really balance each other out and that fresh cut grass note is there to ground things. I actually hate the smell of fresh cut grass so this one was pleasantly surprising - I would say the note leans more towards dewy morning grass rather than freshly cut. It's a top note but I can smell it lingering for a while after dry down. I totally agree with the description that this is a jeans and white t-shirt kind of scent. It's fresh and clean and the right kind of sweet. It's good for day or night. Edit: Coming in with an edit after additional wear. Turns out, I'm horribly allergic to something in the formula and it took some time before the reaction started. I've broken out in a rash and hives everywhere I applied it. So much for that!

Sampled this with no clue as to what fragrance family it belonged to, and was surprised that a "clean" brand so unassuming and minimal could put out such a fruity powerhouse. This is a syrupy pear scent (or green apple, or melon, or nectarine apparently) with a fresh-green-clean tinge and subtle floral nuances that translates into straight-up gel shampoo. I could have sworn I've smelt this scent before between something L'Oreal Kids, Garnier Fructis, Hairfood, and Head & Shoulders Green Apple. It does also remind me of Jo Malone's English Pear & Freesia body wash. No particularly unique progression or detection of the base notes, just fruit through and through, plus a slight soapy floral (and still very pear-y) drydown that smells more like lily than jasmine. Great performance for a fruity-floral. Highly recommend to the hardcore soapy pear lovers.

Leila Lou is a fresh-floral every day scent, perfect for daytime. It’s casual and gives a model off-duty vibe, and feels perfect to wear during the day with jeans and a t-shirt. Feminine, but not particularly girly- it’s modern, airy and cool without trying too hard. It’s definitely a spring/summer scent for warmer weather. I definitely get a crisp pear-like vibe, and the grass note is not too green or astringent so if you’re not into bitter grassy green notes I think you could still like this one. Overall it’s a like, not a love. It’s inoffensive and likable, so I can see people getting this if they need a new easy-reach every day scent, but it’s nothing particularly different or interesting to me.

Like a cross between Lancôme's Idôle and Armani's Aqua di Gioia. I actually find it very pleasant. I was nervous about the grass notes because I usually find those repulsive but they're not particularly strong here, It's mostly juicy ripe pear and Jasmine — fruity floral to the core. Honestly it's lovely. If you like modern white florals, give it a shot. Doesn't smell vintage at all, which stuff with Jasmine often can. I think the vanilla works to sweeten it up a bit but by no means is this a gourmand. Unfortunately I think if you have Idôle or ADG, this is very redundant. I have ADG and so will likely not be purchasing a full size after finishing this sample, at least not until I run out of ADG.

personally, i love this fragrance as a daily-wear when i don't really want to think about what i want to smell like. if that makes sense. it's always a solid choice where i am guaranteed to smell nice throughout the day. I've noticed that if people don't get the grass scent, they have a tendency to dislike this fragrance. for me, this is VERY grass and pear heavy. those are the main notes on my skin. and the scent lasts for a long time. i'm currently at the 12-hour mark and can still smell it without needing to stick my wrist to my nose. can definitely see how this wouldn't be everyone's favorite, but i really enjoy it as an everyday scent.

I was looking to get a fresh floral, light scent and came across this find. After reading lots of positive reviews..... Very fresh juicy floral. Nectarine and jasmine. Like biting into juicy nectarine under spring blossoms. Wish that part lasted all the way thru, but about 10min Lilly of the valley shows up. This is where I find similarity with Gwen Stefani L Perfume. Bathings suit and pool, lilly of the valley creates that illusion here, even though I never before had that association. However this scent still maintains that nectarine and blossoms aura, just dryer version. Nice and happy scent. Excellent for spring and summer.
