Lazy Sunday Morning

Oh, love of my life, my honeybee, sweetie pie, pear bear... Where do I even begin..... If I could marry this darling, I absolutely would. There is nothing lazy about this scent, in my opinion: It is clean, it is soft, but it sure works throughout the day to ensure you smell like *heaven*. Granted, you won't smell like an angel, but it's so gentle, you may come straight from above the clouds. White florals, but in the best way imaginable. Aldehydes? Yes, they're there, but nothing screechy. I would've thought the pear note would ruin it for me from the beginning, but dearest, oh my, you never disappoint. Sour only for the merest moment, only to leave in your soapy veil of a wake something lovely. I imagine falling in love smelling like this. And I guess I could say I experienced it: it didn't start out the best, but it warmed up to be some of the most memorable times in my life even now. It's one of the perfumes where the longevity doesn't upset me, because just like with my experience, I wished it ended just as sweet. It's like awaking to your lover's smile as you both lay under the duvets. The air is cold, but it's warm under the covers. They rouse from their slumber, only to smile sleepily at you. That snapshot is as if it's frozen in time. Maybe after that you get ready for work. Whatever, I have to stop deluding because this is a perfume review, not a story-telling competition or a perfume sales pitch :| Spraying on clothes is almost the same as spraying on your skin: it will bloom and come to the same conclusion. Only difference is that instead of it being flat and muddled like on fabric, it's warmer and reveals its complexities on your skin. I like it better that way, but I would still spray on my clothes to make sure I smell like it the entire frickin' day. Screw what anyone says >:') I believe the iris makes it give the idea that it's soapy. Not the usual handwash or something you'd use, but something on the more expensive side that you won't typically be able to reach for. It's almost a Jo Malone experience, but I'm not sure which exactly it could be. It just smells clear. I have a Shokubutsu Iris Bliss shower cream, but I haven't tried it yet, and I hope it can compliment this perfume. And for once, I don't hate the patchouli. This is such an odd blend, because I feel that I should hate the notes, but why do they all work so well in tandem? Nothing about this perfume allows me to hate it, DAMN IT! I'm getting frustrated over how this will keep me on it for the rest of my life. I still frickin' smile every time I catch a whiff of it. Ahem. If you don't like aldehydes, then leave this alone. This isn't dated by any means, because some aldehydes would lend to the "vintage" feel. The aldehydes in this only lends to its airy and bedcovers-from-the-morning-laundry sensation, like it had just been pulled into your house after some time in the sun. Not totally detergent-y, but not totally sunscreeny either. I imagine a wedding perfume to smell like this. I don't think this perfume could be limited to age. Gender? I don't even bother. I would see women wearing this, but I have no idea about men. Maybe you could try making it work with something green and blue to layer. Otherwise, I honestly don't care. You like this? Awesome! You don't? Move on. I get that you'll review this as you see the perfume, but god, some of you use the worst words imaginable. Turns off people who plan to try it. With that said, as a reminder, DO NOT BLIND-BUY, TRY IT WITH YOUR NOSE FIRST!!! Do not take a written review at full value until you try it. I'm just trying to describe it, and hoping you might arrive at the same conclusion. If not the same but you still like it, that's still a win in my books! Alright, enjoy. Or don't. In that case, I hope you come across something you like sometime soon.

Although I've been collecting fragrances for six years, since the age of 13, I have always done it with the sole purpose of smelling good, and therefore never took it very seriously. With that said, I have still seemed to gravitate towards two types of scents: aldehyde-heavy, laundry/detergent-like fresh fragrances, and heavy, boozy, tobacco/amber-heavy warm fragrances. I was told by many people before purchasing Lazy Sunday Morning that it fit neatly into the first group, with some people telling me it was the quintessential laundry-like fragrance. These people were setting me up for disappointment, yes, because this fragrance doesn't smell "laundry-like" at all to me, but I would've been disappointed without this expectation. I have three Maison Margiela fragrances in my collection, and while one of them isn't for me (Never-Ending Summer), none of them smell bad at all. Lazy Sunday Morning, at least for the first hour on skin, does. The opening is a strong mix of florals and leather that doesn't pair well at all. There is almost a "bad breath" quality to the smell. The longevity/performance is incredibly subpar, which to me was a gift because I didn't want to smell like a stinky leathery rose all day. It dries down into a slightly soapy, floral smell a few hours later, which is admittedly much more appealing, but the smell is almost too weak to discern at that point. Overall, I'd give this fragrance a 4/10. I was expecting to love it, so I got a 5ml decant of it instead of the 3ml decants I got for all the other fragrances I want to try, and I'm now wishing I did that with a different scent, because I can't see myself ever using this fragrance again.

Lazy Sunday Morning is exactly what the name promises: soft skin and fresh bed linen. From the first spray, it smells clean. Not sharp-clean like a disinfectant, but soft, airy, freshly-washed cotton. The aldehydes immediately create that “fresh sheets” effect. There’s a gentle pear in the opening that adds a subtle brightness without turning fruity. Very quickly, the heart becomes more noticeable: rose, iris, and lily of the valley. The rose is present but delicate, slightly powdery, slightly musky. The iris enhances that soft, almost cosmetic smoothness. White musk ties everything together, giving it that skin-like warmth. This fragrance feels intimate. It doesn’t project loudly. It stays close within arm’s length, sometimes even closer. It’s the kind of scent someone notices when they hug you. Longevity is moderate at best: around 3 to 6 hours on my skin. It fades gently rather than disappearing abruptly. Season-wise, this shines in spring and summer. It’s fresh, airy, and energizing. Perfect for relaxed mornings, cleaning your apartment, slow Sundays, or casual daytime wear. It leans slightly feminine because of the rose and powdery softness, but I genuinely believe it’s unisex. On a man, it feels clean and well-groomed rather than floral. Price-wise, it’s reasonable, especially compared to many niche houses. For what it delivers, it makes sense. Is it a safe blind buy? If you love clean, musky, “fresh laundry” fragrances, yes. If you want something bold and attention-grabbing, absolutely not. Rating: 8.5/10

This fragrance reminds me of my childhood home in Italy, freshly washed bed sheets hanging out to dry in the sun, and the very sweet pear juice I used to drink as a child. But above all, it reminds me of my mother. I am a man, and even though the fragrance is distinctly feminine, I love it very much. It is no wonder that the place this fragrance evokes is Florence, but it could just as easily be any home in Italy during springtime. A delight. Este perfume me recuerda a la casa de mi infancia en Italia, a las sábanas recién sacadas de la lavadora y puestas a secar al sol, y al dulcísimo zumo de pera que bebía de niño. Pero, sobre todo, me recuerda a mi madre. Soy un hombre y, aunque el perfume es claramente femenino, lo amo muchísimo. No es ninguna sorpresa que el lugar que evoca este perfume sea Florencia, pero podría ser perfectamente cualquier casa en Italia en primavera. Una delicia. Questo profumo mi ricorda la casa della mia infanzia in Italia, le lenzuola appena appena uscite dalla lavatrice e messe a stendere al sole, il succo alla pera dolcissimo che bevevo da bambino. Ma soprattutto mi ricorda mia madre. Sono un uomo e nonostante il profumo sia prettamente femminile lo amo moltissimo. Nessuna meraviglia che il luogo che evoca questo profumo sia Firenze, ma potrebbe essere benissimo qualsiasi casa in Italia a primavera. Una delizia.

I really love the smell of Lazy Sunday Morning. I know it’s marketed as a women’s fragrance, but to me it's unisex leaning feminine. To me it smells incredibly clean and fresh. It genuinely gives the feeling of waking up in a freshly washed bed, but amplified. Even though it’s considered feminine, I’d definitely wear it myself. The projection is good, but the longevity isn’t the best. I’d say you’ll need to reapply once or twice during the day. Because it fades relatively quickly, I tend to spray once more compared to stronger fragrances. It has a slight sweetness, but not too much, and it feels quite unique. Many fresh fragrances smell similar, but this one stands out with a different, softer approach. I think this works all year round, although it feels especially fitting for spring. Personally, I usually apply fragrances on my skin for the best effect, but with this one I prefer spraying it on my clothes as well, since that helps it last longer without losing its clean character. Considering the price of around €120 for 100 ml, I think it offers good value, especially if you enjoy this kind of soft, fresh scent.
