Rosie

This perfume breaks my heart. I first discovered it in 2020 by purchasing a sample set directly from BRJ. I "kind of" liked Rosie when I smelled it but I put it away. A few months later, I tried it again, and simply fell hopelessly in love. It's one of the most beautiful, intoxicating, hypnotic smells I've ever come across in my entire life. Soft, creamy roses wrapped in sultry musk. It has a very fresh, "watery" quality to it. If you've smelled it, you know what I mean. Extremely feminine and sexy, but not trying to be. It just was sexy. I heard someone else describe it as, "It smells like the kind of people you can't get out of your mind." Spot on. Then the company destroyed it by changing the formula, which they confirmed when I first wrote to them. To make the confusion worse, *after* the formula change, sometimes some batches smell a bit more like the original, but most of them just smell like alcohol, oil, and/or water, virtually no scent. You'll see hundreds of 1 star reviews online, confused customers trying to figure out why what they bought doesn't smell like what they originally smelled or sampled. I've never seen a company more committed to gaslighting their customers. I've written multiple times to ask what's going on with such dramatic and widespread batch variation, and they send me these unbelievably patronizing responses like "it's a subtle scent, even the type of food you eat can alter your perception of it!" Excuse me what? Do you think this is my first perfume ever or I've never eaten with perfume on? Ridiculous. If I could regularly get my hands on that 2020 smell, it would be my signature without question. It's a travesty that something so beautiful was so fleeting. I've tried literally all the products with this scent: big spray, travel spray, fragrance oil, body oil, shower gel, and body milk. There is significant scent variation between products and between batches, and nothing compares to the original, and I finally just gave up. It's just a scent from my past that will forever haunt me.

I'm fascinated by how polarizing this scent is given that it's quite basic and lack-lustre on paper. To me this smells like stepping straight out of a steamy shower, skin is still damp, and there's an open window in the bathroom allowing the scent of freshly rained-on roses to waft through. There is something both warm and cool about this scent that occur at the same time. I'm typically not a fan of rose, but this is a dewy wet, fresh rose that is perfectly balanced by the musk (to my nose). It's clean but not in a soapy or powdery way. This is quite linear, it doesn't develop on my skin but in this case I am grateful since the scent of the initial spray is perfect in my opinion. Performance wise- again I am shocked that some people can't smell this or that it disappears right away (goes to show how different our noses are). For me this creates a perfect scent bubble that truly lasts all day for me - I don't even consider myself to have a particularly sensitive nose. Usually I am smelling my wrists throughout the day to get a whif of my perfume, but with this I don't even have to try. It's just there, in the best way. Fragrances which enhance the natural scent of skin are my favorite, but Its hard to find something long wearing that creates a scent bubble without getting too musky or animalic. I wouldn't change one single thing about Rosie and as long as the formula remains the same I think I would purchase this forever. If I read the reviews on fragrantica before trying this, I probably would have passed on it. If you think you would like this one, I urge you to try it before you pass up on it, it might be underwhelming or disappointing as it is for many people here, or it might become your all time favorite like it is mine.

I’ve been trying to switch to cleaner, more transparent fragrances because I love wearing perfume directly on my skin. So I ordered a discovery set By Rosie Jane. At first, I was honestly disappointed by Rosie. I could barely smell it, and when my partner smelled it, he simply said: “Meih...It just smells clean, like soap.” But the more I wore it, the more I am falling in love of that unique smell. To me, this is a WARM HUG, salty, slightly peppery skin scent (even though pepper isn’t listed). I’m not a fan of rose fragrances, but I hardly notice the rose here. Instead, it’s a soft, addictive musk that reminds me of warm skin and a comforting hug. It’s quietly sensual rather than loud. Perfect for the tropical climate and hot weather where I live. The only downside is the projection. I need quite a few sprays to really enjoy it, and sometimes I wonder if I’ve gone nose-blind. Since I’ve only had it for a short time, I’m still not sure how much other people can smell it. I hope I eventually get a compliment while wearing it—it’s always nice when someone notices your fragrance. I Hope it is not only a skin scent. Still, every time I catch a whiff from my neck or wrists, I want to smell it again. I’ll probably buy a full bottle despite the performance because this scent has become incredibly addictive. I can’t stop smelling it I love it 😍 My only wish is that it had stronger projection

Rosie is similar to the clean airy musk in Dedcool Milk, with a less oily application, and Lake & Skye 11 11 without mineral notes. It's subtly sweetened with rosewater. Performance starts intimate for me but then shockingly warms up to a nice moderate-sized bubble. A great revelation after not experiencing much the first time. It even took me long to try it the first time because I thought it was going to too be powdery and rosy. Not at all. It's more musky and rosewater to me. I tested it again in store with Missing Person and was only getting wafts of Rosie standing in line. With the bottle, that performance has remained consistent. The sillage in the air is also pretty and clean. There's a touch of Phlur Missing Person's warm musky dewiness which I love, but that one is truly missing on me after 10 min and I've tested liberally on skin and clothes many times. It's great I tried this again. Now I have all my different skin musks that cover their own bases, this one being a warm dewy but fresh musk. Not too crisp and cold, or too sweet. Update: The amount of frequent compliments I've received wearing this has been more than any other perfumes I've worn in the public. A testament that soft fragrances also get attention.

I happened upon ownership of the oil rollerball of this and it became a fast favorite. To me, it smells like being safe and clean and cozy. Like you're in a bed with clean sheets and blankets just out the dryer, after taking a soothing shower and bath. It has next to no sillage, but I don't particularly mind. I throw this on when I need to feel better (safe, clean, cozy), or to enhance that sort of relaxing mood. I draw a heart on my wrist, dab it to the other, and dab it on my neck. Maybe put some behind my knees. Basically the only other person who would notice it on me is a lover (who has expressed liking the clean soft scent). I love it so much, that I actually bought the shower gel! My skin is quite sensitive, so I use an unscented baby wash most everywhere most of the time, but I use this when I also need said pick-me-up. My rollerball is coming down to its last 1/5 of product after about 2 years, and I will be replacing it. I think since it's such a personal scent, you have to try it for yourself to see if it's worth having. To me, it's a precious scent I never want to be without.

As an *avid* hater of anything with a prominent rose note... there's like... zero discernible rose in this much to my pleasant surprise. If Rose gives you the ick like it does me, this is the fragrance for you. I absolutely understand the comparisons to Nemat Amber, and I ultimately sampled this because Amber is my favorite smell EVER. Rosie is like if Nemat Amber and 11:11 had a baby. This is soft, cozy, musky, warm, and inviting. A tiny touch floral but not "rosey" in the sense that it smells like actual rose petals. If you told me there was rose in this, I wouldn't believe you. It doesn't project very far but that's not needed to me - as long as I can smell it on myself I'm fine and I can with Rosie - I've smelled it lingering on my skin for a good three hours now. I'll probably have to reapply in the middle of the day, but that doesn't bother me. From my understanding, this line is meant to be understated. I already own Dylan and I love it. I love Rosie so much, I'll probably end up with a full bottle of it as well and layer it with Nemat Amber oil for extra sweet muskiness! 10/10

I will start this off by saying I go nose blind to this fragrance quickly, but through out the day I receive a lot of compliments on my scent. This fragrance is very oily so I think that helps its longevity. With that being said, be careful spraying it on shirts. It can leave a spray mark. My co workers tell me when I walk around the office I leave a scent trail & that I would never be able to hide lol. I get a lot of compliments from people who say they don't usually like fragrances because fragrances irritate them. This scent is very clean smelling. It doesn't smell like anything, but at the same time, it smells good. It is similar to Dedcool Milk, which I love and own (I go nose blind to this too, but I receive compliments all day). It's also similar to Riddle's original scent perfume/body oil. I'm usually a gourmand girly but on the days I don't want to smell like food, but still want to feel pretty I reach for a clean scent like this. Rosie is one of my most worn these days.

This is definitely my new signature scent. I was intrigued by reviews and videos reviewing this perfume because i love a clean musky skin scent and also i love light florals. Some of the reviews i read said this perfume didn’t last on them but i had the opposite opinion. I sprayed on my wrists I couldn’t smell anything ant first and was disappointed however after about ten minutes i could smell it perfectly i was smelling it all day long. A light musky skin scent that smells beautiful and feminine. The rose was not overpowering or old ladyish at all. Very clean smelling. It smells like how your warm skin smells after laying in the sun or a warm window. It seemed like the longer i wore it the more i could smell it. Very romantic and nostalgic smelling. I absolutely adore this fragrance and will be purchasing the whole body care package in this scent!!

I adore this fragrance. It's the white tee-shirt and jeans of fragrance – easy to throw on, perfect for everyday, and absolutely classic. Rosie /by Rosie Jane is soft, fresh white musk with a gorgeous dewy rose opening. Lightly soapy in a fresh, just got out of the shower kind of way. A very your-skin-but-better scent. I think this would be perfect for the office or for school, it's so inoffensive, sheer, and lovely. Rosie reminds me quite a lot of Lake & Sky 11 11, as both live in this subtle second-skin, lightly soapy category, but it's not a 1:1 match. 11 11 leans more ozonic and Rosie leans just a touch more floral. If you like Lake & Sky 11 11, Phlur Missing Person, Clean Reserve Skin, Glossier You, Nemat Amber, Ellis Brooklyn Myth, Maison Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning, etc. definitely give Rosie a try.

Wow these reviews are NOT fucking joking. I would normally never write a review for a fragrance I haven't at least purchased a decant from but I'll make an exception here. I was in sephora today looking at the new kayali releases when I decided to round the corner and look at the rosie jane shit. When I say "abysmal dogshit," I don't mean that it smells bad. I mean it doesn't smell like fucking anything. I tried one spritz on paper. Nothing. Two spritz. Nothing. Soaked the paper. Nothing. My arm. Nothing. How fucking dare you charge people $80 for a 1.7 oz bottle of fragrance free alcohol? I'm so fucking sick and tired of these companies asking exorbitant prices and then pissing in your fake. Literally go buy anything else. Go buy tea rose or demeter for a linear musky rose. Unbelievable. Such an insult.

The first time I smelled this was when I was in a wedding and one of the bridesmaids smelled DIVINE. She told me it was Rosie by Rosie Jane and I immediately snagged a travel spray. I love this scent more than any other “your skin but better” scents that I’ve tried because of how light and airy it feels. Glossier You has a bit too much of a kick from the pink pepper for me, JHAG is obviously amazing but it can get a little strong after a bit, Skin by Clean Reserve was too floral for my taste, and Milk and Xtra Milk don’t last super long on my skin. I layer this fragrance with my Nemat Amber perfume oil and I stay smelling nice all day. I love that I never get sick of this scent and it is appropriate for any time of year!

This is a soft clean musk that's not soapy. I smell the smallest essence of rose and no vanilla. Beautiful and intoxicating skin scent. It can sometimes smell oily, like an odorless light oil. It goes on a bit oily on skin at first but dries up quickly. Haven't had issues with it staining clothes. It's almost exactly the same as Nemat Amber and a more feminine version of Dedcool Xtra Milk. Very soft projection, but I can smell it on myself 6-8 hr after initial sprays. I get complimented every time I wear this. While I love this scent, I go nose blind to this very quickly, and not just for a few hours, but for a few days. Some days I can't smell it at all (same happens to me with Nemat Amber and Xtra Milk).

EDIT: HEY SO THE KEY IS TO WAIT & LET IT DRY DOWN. i am now obsessed with the smell. i'm gonna get the full size version of this. it definitely is my skin but better! :)) I bought a travel size version bc I'm already 50/50 based on the reviews. SOOOOO... I can't smell anything. I sprayed it like 5x on my shirt and nothing..... My favorite perfumes are Glossier You and JHAG Not A Perfume and I got this one bc it says they smell the same but I can't smell anything!!!! Idk if i'm nose blind to this but I was kinda hoping I would love this bc I loved the fragrance notes when I first looked it up. But sadly nothing, nada :((( should i give this one another try? I really really wanted to love this.

this is my favorite every day perfume. it’s kind of like a less sexy version of missing person. it’s all skin musk. i don’t smell rose at all. i just smell skin, but not TOO clean. i like the body milk ok. i wish i had it in a laundry detergent and a deodorant and a candle and a body wash and absolutely everything. i adore this perfume. it doesn’t project far at all unfortunately, but it lasts all day and night on my skin. it’s so simple and perfect. i should try layering it to complicate it a little, but it’s perfect just as simple as it is. i wear it almost every day. i pray they never stop making it cause i can’t afford to stock up.

Okay. I have to apologize to Rosie. I have a very harsh review written about her somewhere below. I will not delete it, but suffice to say, my stance has changed. I did not do her justice. You cannot judge Rosie on a paper strip. I smell NO alcohol now. All I get is soft musk and delicious, slightly jammy rose. It works like a gem on my skin chemistry and makes me want to explore more linear, musky fragrances. I don't think linear is a bad thing. I expected this to be a skin scent but my dad could smell it across the couch. It's so nice. A great take on "your skin but better." A less synthetic, sweeter JHAG NAP.

I've never become anosmic to a perfume as fast as this one. I've had it a week! The first few sprays were a blast of rose that dried down to a soft musk. It actually made me sneeze because I'm so sensitive to scents of any kind. Then last night I sprayed and waited for the nose tickle and it never came. I sniffed with my nose right up to my wrist and nothing. I then sprayed it on my shirt but all I could smell was alcohol. Right now I get the faintest musk and (maybe)a powderiness that *could* be rose? What the heck? It's so weird and a bummer because despite the sneezing I really liked this. Boo!

This is my favorite “skin scent” of all time! It smells like delicate rosebuds and sweet musk. It’s fresh and slightly powdery and the dry down is literally just a fade-away, it doesn’t get weird or change too much. It’s wonderful for work or close spaces- a few dabs with my rollerball will have me smelling more like clean skin and fresh laundry than obvious perfume. When I choose to layer, it blends well with and enhances complimentary fragrances. Depending on how much is used, it gives intimate to moderate projection and I can detect traces of it on my skin for 6 or 7 hours at least.

The perfect rose musk for rose haters. I HATE rose but this... this is perfection. I have a 10ml travel size and wore it to bed last night as previous reviews said it was a soft weak fragrance. I woke up and could still smell it. It’s been 2 hours since I have woken up and I’m still getting STRONG wafts of it as I’m writing this. This has been on my skin over 8+ hours and still going strong and I only did 4 sprays... People who are saying they can’t smell anything and it’s weak. Try spraying on your shoulders and wrists rather than in front of your chest as you will go nose blind.

The first time I sprayed this in the air I couldn’t smell anything but alcohol, but I sprayed it on my arm and after a few seconds I got the most clean gorgeous scent. Someone said two rose petals in a glass of ice water and I love that. Light, musky, slightly floral and a touch of sweetness. I get super light and airy soap bubbles floating past a rose bouquet. Great bedtime scent if you’re into that. I got the set with the body wash, body milk, and full bottle and it lasts all day when layered. I love this scent and get compliments every time I wear it.

I bought this fragrance after seeing it recommended over and over, especially for people who enjoy scents like Another 13, Glossier You and Dedcool (xtra)Milk. I have to say, to my nose it does not really resemble those. If anything, it comes closest to Nasomatto Silver Musk. For me this is a very dry, powdery, clean musk with an almost metallic edge. I do not smell any rose or vanilla here: it stays completely clean and musky from start to finish. It feels incredibly comforting and has that sense of familiarity, as if I have known this scent for years.

When I first smelled Rosie in the BRJ discovery set 3 years ago, I thought to myself: "this is how I want to smell for the rest of my life." Needless to say, it has been my signature ever since. It's like a slightly more floral version of Nemat Amber. Fresh and clean, but there's also something about it that's intoxicating. It's deep, warm, and ever so slightly sweet, maybe from the vanilla in it? I've had a few people do a double take when they smell it on me. It's truly barely there, but it lasts, it's stunning, and it garners compliments!

Something about this is deeply nostalgic. When I smell it on my wrist, it pulls me straight back to the ’90s—coming home from the pool, skin warm from the sun, taking a bubble bath and getting slathered in that L’Oréal shampoo with the eyeball on the bottle. The one we always used after swimming. Pink Mr. Bubble foam climbing the sides of the tub. And underneath it all, the faint powdery sweetness of my mother’s Mary Kay—clean, cosmetic, comforting. It smells like the best parts of childhood: sun-warmed skin, soap, and being taken care of.

What an absolutely beautiful everyday scent. This is the perfume I have worn the most often since discovering it. It's definitely a cleaner scent but I dislike shampoo, soap and laundry smells. To me this scent is clean but delicate, it's a floral musk. It's inoffensive and mass appealing. I work in a science lab so we are not allowed to wear perfumes but I still wear this everyday because I enjoy smelling nice. It sits close enough to the skin that you smell it on yourself all day but it doesn't take up the room.

My absolute signature scent. It’s such a skin scent and my husband never smells it on me but it’s the scent that feels most “me”. I wore this during my pregnancy & started wearing it again when my son was around 4 months old so it just holds so many amazing memories for me with my baby. I layer it with the perfume oil, but I will admit that it does not last long. I wish they had a much stronger concentration, but I often just reapply. I often wear this to bed because it’s so subtle and just feels like “me”.

smelled this inside sephora, and thought, what is the hype? but on skin outside, i really like this. its very crisp and clean girl. floral in a way that is super non-offensive and non-powdery. almost aquatic, airy, and solar? its spa-like but not exactly, as it feels happier. i would describe it as the idea of cold-smelling handsoap or shampoo, but it doesn't give soap at all. upon opening, all i get is alcohol but it dries kind of oily, and when i rubbed the oil into my skin, it projects more.

everyone asks me what i'm wearing when i put this on. half the time, i can't even smell it myself, but it's awesome knowing other people can smell it far more than i can. strange oily consistency that i wish was not there. smells a little masculine, which i like. i'm not really one to be humble about fragrances, so i feel like this would play out for someone that was a little more calm and feminine than i am. overall 8/10, awesome longevity, but the sillage could use some work...

This is creamy, musky perfection. Mainly a milky ambrette skinscent which some people may not smell due to its molecular nature. It's so simple and soft, with the ambrettolide, ethylene brassylate and ambroxan working together in sensual harmony. Very simple and clean with almost a vegetal musky quality. This smells really great - very comfortable and quite the compliment magnet. Personally as I detect musks and ambroxan quite well, it lasts effectively to my nose, though YMMV.

This perfume might make me fully accept skin scents to be real. I don’t like rose heavy scents so I was skeptical but I totally understand what people says “it smells like clean skin” it does!!! Skin scents can smell like alcohol to me but this immediately smelled good. I figured what it reminds me of, it smell exactly like amber by nemat. it has a really good longevity by itself but if you really want to pump it up combine the two. Good longevity

ugh i loooove this scent. it reminds me of 11:11 by lake and skye (which i love) but a bit more floral and natural smelling. the only flaw is it really isn’t long lasting or strong, which is interesting because i find most scents with a rose note seem to have good longevity, not that this is very heavy in the rose scent regardless. very clean and summery.. i think this is the best fresh scent without giving clean laundry.

This has been a favorite of mine for years. I recently ordered a new set from the BRJ site. And the reviews from Sephora are accurate--it doesn't smell like much of anything now! I am so sad bc I have loved Rosie for so long. Previously, it was stronger and it lasted hours on my skin. Now, it's very, very light and gone within an hour. I hope one day they will bring back the original version!

I LOVE this fragrance. It is so so clean. I expected it to smell super rosy based on its name, but it really doesn’t strike me as a floral fragrance. It definitely sits very very close to you and is not overpowering whatsoever. Super fresh and pleasant scent that I think almost anyone would find extremely unoffensive. I do wish it lasted longer, as it seems to fade quite quickly.

Reminds me of drinking tea in the home of a fashionable (yet understated), humble older girl friend. Clean wipes and gently pressing my face into the milky fur of a kitten. Do try Rosie if you want a powdery, gentle, classy, feminine, skin scent. *I almost didn't buy this from all the commentors who smelled "nothing" but it turns out I can smell this on my clothing for ~6hrs. :D

I layer this one with Skin by Clean Reserve and my situationship goes FERAL for it lol this combination definitely causes something... he digs his face wherever I sprayed and can’t get enough of it. It may be the “human skin” similarity it has.. perfumes with pheromones do not really exist... but this combo is the description of what a perfume with pheromones would smell like...

I work in healthcare and am currently in nursing school, so I was looking for a scent that smells good without being overbearing or offensive to others—something appropriate for spring and summer. This is perfect! The term “skin scent” can feel overused, but this truly is a feminine, soft skin scent. It’s a slightly sweet, sheer floral that feels fresh, light, and just right :)

Clean girl scent. The smell was a bit strong in a powdery way when I sprayed it at first, but after 1-2 hours, I had this almost addictive skin scent and couldn't stop smelling my wrists. It is pretty intimate but you can smell it when you move around, a great everyday scent! I'm not a fan of rose but it did not bother me at all as you can hardly smell it.

This is my signature scent. It is so unique and delicate. I smell clean, but also get the rose and musk. Its a cool scent, and very comforting. This is definitely my daily. I've gone through half a 30ml bottle in a month if that says anything, and I don't use up perfumes particularly quickly. I hope they never discontinue. I would bathe in this if I could

Classy and clean! Does not smell stuffy or powdery to me, just whispy and soft. I can't truly smell it, like other perfumes, but it somehow lasts a long time! Even after going to the gym. This fragrance as a feeling... an everything shower, putting on a floral pajama set, climbing in a fluffy bed, and scrolling on Pinterest or reading your favorite book.

Rosie is a beautiful skin musk that is not overly “perfumey”. It just smells like you are a person who smells fresh and clean. The rose is really not detectable in my opinion. It just smells like clean and fresh musks. Similar to 11 11 by lake and Skye but less aquatic. I just wish it projected a bit more and lasted a bit longer. But it’s beautiful.

The reviews made me nervous to blind buy this. Honestly.... I'm obsessed. This is soft, subdued, easy to grab, perfect for office/everyday wear. Minimal sillage, light scent trail, but feels like this is someone's "natural" scent. The rose and white musk make this scent fresh and bright. Minimal vanilla to my nose, but so well done. I love!

I'm on bottle #2 of this. It's such an easy white t-shirt kind of fragrance. It goes with everything and easily layers when you want a more dramatic scent for an event or evening out. I did grab the body oil this time. Not my favorite body oil formula by far but it does give the perfume a little more oomph if needed/desired.

LOVE IT. It’s better than your skin but better. It’s comforting and clean, a mood booster. I like to wear it for work layered with the amazing grace body emulsion. I feel put together all day. You really can’t go wrong with this beautiful creation. Be ware that if you can’t smell it you’re probably anosmic to musk or amber.

Rosie feels to me safe and sexy at the same time. I feel at home when I am wearing Rosie. If I had a signature daily scent that I could identify myself with, it will be Rosie. I like to change, I use other perfumes. Rosie is heavenly familiar, close to my skin and sexy at the same time. Warm and sheer

Not everyones thing, but it’s definitely mine. Some people think it smells like hand sanitizer, but when it macerates it smells like a beautiful rose; but it smells like musk too, so it has a your skin but better thing going. When I was doing laundry from a week prior, scent stayed lingering!

This is a clean and sharp rose musk that I absolutely love. Something about how this is slightly masculine makes it feel really fresh and sexy for a skin scent. The roll on oil has incredible longevity on my skin (like 12 hrs plus) and I find the EDP is also pretty good (6-8hrs).

Really comforting, versatile and easy to wear musky perfume. I use this perfume on days I feel overstimulated and can't use a stronger perfume. The rose notes are subtle but makes it stand out from other musk perfumes. It's soft, clean and elegant.

A beautiful white musk/grey amber with soft rose and hints of vanilla. I seem to go nose-blind to this pretty quickly, but other people can still smell it on me HOURS later. I like the oil slightly better than the EDP, but they’re both great.

Smells intimate, clean, soapy, slightly sweet and floral. This is a soft girl that wears cardigans and reads a lot. The musk and sweetness definitely comes out more on skin, and the rose note is very soft. Beautiful every day scent. 9/10

Pleasantly surprised by this one. I normally despise rose in my fragrances, but this one hits more as a sweet your-skin-but-better type. I don't think rose when I wear it. Beautiful for spring. Light floral and a beautiful musk.

This is a no-brainer, easy grab fragrance for an everyday wear. A perfect musk I always get compliments on. I find longevity good compared to similar profiles I have tried, I will always have a full bottle of Rosie on hand.

This is my all time favourite perfume. Something about it is deeply comforting to me. It doesn’t project much, so I wear it more *for me*. There’s many other’s I love, but I always reach for Rosie By Rosie Jane as my daily.
