Angel's Share On The Rocks

I have tested Angels’ Share on the Rocks four times now, and it is a love. But I do base that on the scent only. More specifically on the dry down. The opening is super lemony fresh, tangy and sharp, but you can already smell the AS base and that familiar DNA coming through. I personally don’t care much for the opening, even if that is the aspect that sets it apart from its siblings. I want that boozy, dark genie that is hidden in the gorgous frosted bottle. Luckily, about 30 minutes in, the citrus fades a bit, and the base becomes prominent. There will still be a light and fresh aspect to it during the whole wear, but this flanker is all about being a lighter, diluted and thusly a more wearable version of AS for the warmer season, as becomes clear throughout the wear. In fact, it reminds me more of Paradis in the dry down without the fruity note. Somewhere in that dry down, I also defect a hint of almond which must be coming from the tonka bean. The scent transforms from a energetic freshy into a darker, albeit light wearing, sophisticated perfume that will take you from the cheerful daytime into the mysterious night where, though unisex leaning masculine, I can see a super sexy and confident femme fatale wearing this, ready to slay. It would have been easier to slay, however, if the scent were stronger, more present. Alas, it is not. It is for sure the weakest of the trio. It fades quite quickly, does not have much of a sillage, much less projection. This one is for the die hard AS fans who, in all honesty, may not have had their expectations fully met, but will add it to cart and into the collection. Yes, I am a fan. Yes, I am biased. And so I accept this one for what it is, which makes On The Rocks much easier to love.

Mentioned this in my Paradis review, my lovely girlfriend bought this for me on her trip to Europe simply based on the reason that it "smells like heaven" as it isn't out in Singapore yet. She's absolutely right though, as it smells bloody sensational. Scent: At its core, it's still an Angels' Share, however On The Rocks opens with the amazing, ICY and citrusy freshness that just smells so nice and airy. The OG to me was very overbearing even in colder weather because of how sweet it is throughout but OTR manages to freshen up the opening while still maintaining its sweet, boozy creaminess in its heart with an amazingly high quality blend as you'd expect from a Kilian. Performance: THIS GENUINELY MAKES ME SO SAD. The scent is absolutely divine but on my skin OTR barely lasts more than like 5 hours before I have to stick my arm up my nostril to get a whiff and that absolutely hurts my soul. While it is working, it's WORKING. Creates a nice scent bubble and trail of citrusy, boozy and creamy sweetness. I really wished it performed better on me like it hurts my SOUL that it doesn't. Versatility: All year round. Any occasion. On The Rocks works whether you need to dress up or down. Signature scent worthy all year round. Fresh enough for the high heats and sweet enough for the cold winds. Scent: 10/10 Performance: 5/10 Versatility: 10/10 Personal Score: 9.5/10 I really wanted to give Angels' Share On The Rocks my third 10/10 in my collection because it just smells so amazing but the performance... bummer. As I've said, just an absolutely divine scent so definitely do give it a sample as it might last longer or shorter depending on your skin chemistry.

As someone who confidently can say this is absurdly mass appealing, let me tell why I think I have that nailed down from personal experience through the next two points: 1. I was not a fan of Angel's Share and its DNA (even in other fragrances) after trying it several times. Lately, I've been trying to learn to like fragrances that have a specific function/profile/note and this was the #1 I wanted to approach like that. Went to Sephora, fully invested in liking ONE of the flankers - well, I walked out of there with 7.5ml of this and if was available, would have copped 7.5ml of Paradis. 2. The epidemy of how pleasant this is was arriving home with the travel spray and asking my wife to smell it on me. "I love it" was so far from expected that it actually shocked me! My wife is a hater of anything that is not BLUE, super fresh, masculine, nor simple - she is the biggest thermometer of mass appeal for me. If she liked this, the way she did, I know this is be highly sought after! In summary, I didn't use to be a fan of the DNA and in theory my wife wouldn't have been either - adding to that, she didn't like neither the original AS, nor the Paradis flanker haha - BUT this On the Rocks flipped the switch in my mind and I've actively been looking for deals on this line! This shit's AMAZING! It has fantastic versatility, very good longevity of over 8h of solid detectability (not necessarily pushing far out after the 2nd hour) but what I loved the most about it performance was how long I could smell it easily on myself! Picked up the 7.5ml only because I know it will go down in price soon and I'm patient.

HELLOOOOO KILIAN After a not-so pleasant review of the born to be (un)forgettable, I stumble across this beauty of a fragrance. What surprised me the most is that On The Rocks (OTR) is actually QUITE different to the rest of the Angel's Share (AS) line. Without looking at the notes, my first impression of OTR upon applying to skin is "bitter orange with rum/whisky mixed with syrup". The original AS and AS paradis are what I'd classify as "warm, sweet booziness", but AS OTR is "cold, sweet booziness". Imagine you're on a beach with your mates/partner and you're grabbing a glass of whiskey on the rocks with freshly squeezed citrus, this is what this fragrance is all about. Perfect for the hotter days, but won't stick out as much as the OG AS or the AS paradis on colder days. As for the drydown, it's like you've finished your glass of sweet citrusy whiskey, and now you're having a stroll along the coast - this is what the scent reminds me of. Absolutely in love with all the AS fragrances and flankers. Kilian does not miss when it comes to this line. Longevity is pretty good! A solid 7-8 hours with the dry down being strong, so no need to worry about sillage dropping until around the 5-6 hour mark. Overall, would I recommend it? Personally, yes. Alongside the whole of the AS line. All in the line is a straight up 10/10 for me. (Even though I still prefer AS paradis out of all of them) But for the purpose of making it unbiased? 8.4/10. Keep cooking brother.

As someone who loves citrus-based fragrances and doesn’t enjoy overly sweet scents, I thought I would like this one. And I really did — it’s the kind of fragrance that makes you keep smelling your wrist over and over after testing it. About 15 minutes after the opening, it gets very close to the original DNA. There is some sweetness there, but it’s not as intense or tiring as the original. In that sense, I think it’s a very wearable and excellent flanker. The only — and most important — complaint I have is the performance. Unfortunately, it lasts around 5 hours with a noticeable scent bubble only in close proximity, and that’s definitely not with just 3–5 sprays, but more like 8–10 sprays. Considering the asking price, I find this absolutely unacceptable. Otherwise, I actually loved the scent even more than the original. If the performance were better, it would be one of the rare fragrances I’d buy regardless of the price. I’ll definitely try a few decants and test it thoroughly. I hope I’m wrong about the performance, because I’m really eager to buy it. Edit: march 2026 I had shared my thoughts about this fragrance before. Today, I couldn’t resist a good deal I came across and decided to buy it. Performance-wise, it’s not disappointing to the point of being a dealbreaker, but honestly, I expected it to be a bit better. Still, that’s not really an issue, because the scent is truly good enough to deserve a place in my collection.
