Gold Oud

First wearing of By Kilian Gold Oud, part of the discontinued Arabian Nights collection, a more amped up (and I believe more expensive) rendition of Rose Oud. It seems to be midway between a sweet jammy rose and a rose/oud/saffron blend, somewhat sweet but still herbal and resinous, a really enjoyable blend. It’s definitely reminiscent of other rose/oud fragrances (it’s been a while since I’ve smelled By Kilian Rose Oud), somewhere between the mostly sweet, slightly sharp Tauerville Rose Flash, the more acerbic Aramis Rose Calligraphy, and By Kilian’s own more animalic, deeper Pearl Oud (the Doha city exclusive). For my money, Pearl Oud is a more compelling rose/oud fragrance but it’s also a bit more challenging, so Gold Oud is going to fit the bill for more people, I estimate. I’d certainly recommend that fans of rose/oud fragrances, or even rose fragrances in general, try this if they get the chance, but I imagine it’s difficult to come by nowadays, as both the main line (Rose, Musk, Pure, Amber, Incense) and the higher-end (Gold, Extreme, Eternal Black) Arabian Nights collection fragrances are discontinued. 8 out of 10

It took me a few years but I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this rare release from the Arabian Nights line. It's similar to Kilian Rose Oud but leans more masculine. The red berry fruitiness is muted, and oud is turned up, although not to the point where it dominates or berates. There's less sweetness and no powdery finish like in RO, but the patchouli and cypriol is still there. And the beautiful wet and jammy rose is still there. Perfectly unisex IMO. Kilian Rose Oud is, in my opinion, a reference scent for jammy rose with almost zero oud. This one is more about the oud which smells like real agarwood. Performance is outstanding. Would it be redundant to own both? Not really, but It doesn't really matter since this fragrance is nearly extinct and impossible to find. I'll savor my bottle, and enjoy it on special occasions. ❤️ 🖤 -------------------------------------------------------- Scent 97/100 Performance 90/100

This is an absolutely amazing perfume. Lasts forever and fills a room with a creamy, succulent, dark rose accord tempered with oud. Makes its little cousin Rose Oud seem almost insignificant. Actually makes just about ANY other rose/oud combo I've tried (and that's a lot) seem insignificant. If you can afford it, buy it. Scent 10/10...so good...what perfume should be Projection 8/10...really fills a room Fortitude 10/10...14 to 15 hours without breaking a sweat and still projecting scent. The strongest perfume besides oud ispahan that I own. Full bottle worthy?...indeed!...get it! Now!...rob a bank if you must, but if your a true connoisseur it's a must own.

Definitely an improvement over Rose Oud (which was already my favorite from the collection). You really get a sense of oud this time, instead of just some soft oriental rose "oud fragrance"

Great oud base fragrance..best perfomance..very long lasting.

To me, the initial blast is formed of rose, saffron and patchouli. The rose is thick, syrupy, jammy and quickly dominates the blend for about a couple of hours. Yet, in the first hour I get a metallic feel, not sure from where that comes from. After that, the rose clearly still stays in front, but it's backed up by a tame oud note. 6.5/10

Sampled a few times - Boring, cheap, air freshener like vibe.

this is very similar to rose oud, with natural oud added. that deep, dense cloying rose is still here. yep. it's almost nauseating and not pleasant at all... on the plus side, i can smell all the ingredients clearly as they are of very high quality. don't be put off by this review, it may differ greatly from yours...

Smells very cheap. Basically very dense rose water with oud. Very cloying and headache inducing (saying a guy who loves heavy colognes) The whole blend smells like cheap middle eastern stuff. Do not waste your money. Not worth it. Close to Haramain oud 36 nuit

this is the rose oud. it's like an oil. one spray and stays in for ever. not suitable for women couse it's very masculine . excellent sillage and longevity. one bottle for all your life.
