I Don't Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess - Rose de Mai

I was totally ignoring the existence of this gorgeous perfume until I noticed it on a website. My first encounter with "My Kind of Love" line was 2 years ago and left me unimpressed. However, I was totally wrong. This candied rose petal scent spiced up with ginger is the reason I cannot stop smelling my wrists right now. The amount of roses is rather delicate while the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows surrounds them with grace and suavity. Fairylike and utterly girly, this is the type of fragrance a young woman would wear after the first dates with her beloved one, on a romantic day out for rose petal lattes and raspberry macaroons at La Duree. Holding hands and laughing. Also, the powdery element makes it more loveable and dreamy (cannot detect matcha though). Love, love, love. One of my most successful blind buys. Ps: cannot compare to OG as I have not tried it on me.

I’ve never had the pleasure.. to even be near a *drop* of Princess Rose de Mai. But, if I go by everybody’s reviews, why not use my imagination and layer up until I finally can try the real thing? 🌹💧🌸 My immediate thought was to layer with the Chloe Eau de Parfum. I think it’s thee *perfect* scent.. to blend with Princess. Same “volume” if you will. Nobody is going to overpower the other. 💐💦 For a cheap experiment, I’d use the Rose lotion from Bath & Body Works, then spray Princess on top. Rose came in everything, even an actual Eau de Parfum (full-size and travel-size) so there’s that option as well. 🍵🌷🍋🟩🪴 My last thought for a rose that would blend effortlessly with Princess is Idole, especially the new Eau de Toilette with its green tea and rose essence notes. I can only imagine the delicacy! 🩰

Wonderful flanker. As said by the reviewers below, it is literally the original Princess with rose added. The rose is definitely the main character--- it's a very potent but also natural rose. It's not a dark rose, quite the contrary--- it smells fresh, fleshy, youthful, bright. The overall perfume remains a gourmand but the rose doesn't smell heavy or sugary sweet. It really helps further balance the sweetness of Princess (even though it's not an ultra sweet gourmand to begin with). Sillage is stronger than the original, it's not a low-key fragrance but it's not invasive either. Perfect for spring, beautiful during summer nights. It's smells so joyful and romantic. It's a shame that it was a limited edition but I agree with SailorV--- you could definitely achieve a similar feel with layering.

A really well made Princess flanker. The opening is gorgeous - sweet fresh delicate sugar sprinkled rose petals. For the first hour or so, the roses dominate. They are strong, yet still on the delicate, fresh, youthful side. There is just the right amount of powderiness. During this period you can still smell the original Princess DNA and although being toned down the whole scent is just very well balanced. Later the marshmallow sweetness with a tea/ginger twist becomes a bit more noticeable and more similar to the OG. I wish to see more Princess flankers and not limited only to Russian market as the 2021 Fleur d'Oranger was. I think the OG Princess has a lot of fans worldwide, that would be happy to have a chance to try them, too.

Princess Rose De Mai is such a pretty boy fragrance. The rose adds freshness and extra crispness to this very delicate scent. And it dries down to a sweet and fluffy, marshmallow goodness. I love the original Princess but for me this takes it to the next level. And every time I have this on, it gets me into such a great mood. For me it is a year round fragrance. Longevity is about 6 to 8 hours on my skin and it projects quite decently. It’s really hard to get a bottle of this scent as it was a limited edition and I’m quite thankful that I have it in my collection.
