La Botte

An extraordinary perfume that harmoniously combines soft suede-like leather and delicate violet. This has to be the smoothest leather fragrance I have tried. The fragrance opens with a flower bomb of violet and Jasmin. But this quickly dries down and the smooth rich suede notes come to the front, evoking indulgence. As it develops, the violet is ever present, adding sophistication to the suede's sensuality. The wood and civet are very subtle in the background helping give this fragrance more depth and body. A balanced blend, showcasing the perfumer's artistry. Very alluring and I can’t stop smelling it.

I really love this scent. My first impression was strong leather and violet, with a touch of tobacco. After a couple of hours, I was left with a fruity, woody violet. I have really enjoyed what it's done with my particular chemistry. Very long lasting, too.

Most violet is too sweet/candied for my taste. But this is a revelation. The dirty leather elevates the violet into something more at home in an auto shop than a garden party. A true favorite. I wish it were still widely available.

I have never smelled a violet this strong and well blended with a leather note that the line is based on. Very unique fragrance in a crowded space. Shame it is discontinued.

Quite TomFord-esque, but more balanced and realistic, very smooth and pleasant; better than Tuscan Leather itself and most of the copies, but the price though..

This scent is absolutely phenomenal! Wearing this fragrance gives me the feeling of walking into a room and owning it!! This is truely one of a kind.

HARD CORE leather. No spice. No smoke. Extremely “lean”, like Clint Eastwood after liposuction. At the very beginning, it has something strongly reminiscent of that industrial glue scent of new boots. Chloroprene rubber glue, to be precise. Then comes that “stoic” leather: there is nothing soft about it; it’s as serious as those boots wore by Queen’s Guard. (Loads, loads of IFF Suederal, perhaps???) The leather is accompanied by abstract violet elements——In fact, no, not accompanied. This type of leather refuse companionship, like a silent, eccentric guest on a party. The violet element floats somewhat aimlessly on top, barely touch the leather base. I say element because it’s not a real floral note, only a skeleton of the smell, as if they forget to add complimentary molecules to make it full. (Yes this abstract violet scent does remind me of Fahrenheit.)

A leathery sleek and discreet perfume named as a tribute to a shoe maker, La Botte is an interesting but frightfully overpriced offering from eclectic Byredo. The perfume begins with a faint jasmine and proceeds to a floral animalic heart comprised of violet and civet. Finally it settles into a woody leathery base of mahogany and leather. The overall feeling is of a sophisticated lady wearing a leather coat or boots. Unisex with moderate sillage and good longevity. Given the super premium price it retails for, only recommended for die hard Byredo fans. Enjoy!

Jasmine and brutal leather. Monster sillage and longevity, although it ́s absolutely linear on me - no development. Definitely money well spent if you ́re into it - two drops will keep you going for 24 hours easy. A confidence-boosting scent.

It's Jasmin & Cigarettes by Eldo. A jasmine leather with facets of cold tobacco, like smoker's fingers.

Very unique, love or hate type of fragrance. Jasmine has a synthetic note to it, and the Civet is a bit heavy, not appealing to me.

Animalic ski-wax - linearly so, no change . Can't say it's bad - its just too industrial - not my cup of tea.

Not the luxury couch leather of AdP Colonia Leather or Guerlain Cuir Intense. Not the fruity suede of TF Ombre Leather. Not the aldehydic fizzy leather of Molinard Cuir. No. Here it's a badass new motorbike jacket leather in-your-face, but not rough. This one could be remotely compared to Dior Fahrenheit, with the leather being the main player supported by a gasoline-ish violet (that will never show her floral side). That said, they are not really similar. Good news: definitely niche quality. Bad news: definitely niche price ($350+ for just 1oz...) Winter evenings, 20-50.

The usual Givaudan raspberry/leather accord, with a result falling in between TF Tuscan Leather and Mac My Heroine. Ultra synthetic to my nose, but has good performance - should that count. I really don;t know who shelled out ~$400 for just 30ml of that juice, but I really don't see the point of doing so. Hard pass.

Well.. The story behind the reason that made me want to sniff this blend was weird! I meet a guy few weeks back, he was nice but bit complaining on almost everything, his life, the people he knows, the atmosphere, and almost every thing u could think of. However, for some reason i had to take him out! so i will short this up by saying i had the worse temper the following 3 days after the meeting! the temper was extremely awful that i couldn't even want to talk to anyone at all including my parents, my brothers, and even my friends! i almost tried to make up fights in the gym that i go to without any reason! i never knew what depression state of mind is but i believe i understood what it means now after those 3 days! i live it! On the 3rd day i just couldn't handle this mental issue till by coincidence i saw an email in my inbox that was sent by one of my friends, it was actually from his blog that he sends everyday. About him, he is a life coach who is similar to Bob Proctor, Mel Robbins, Tony Robbins, & John Maxwell. When i told him about my condition he then asked me to dig deep inside my thoughts and keep on asking myself questions, while he was with me on whatsapp, a friend of mine came to my desk and surprisingly i started telling him about what i am feeling and slowly that guy's story came up and i explained to him everything he said. Now my friend replied to me and i was extremely shocked that i didn't see it coming! he said "That guy is a (....)"(belongs to some racist group)! when i reviewed the information that i had about him like his homeland, his communication with his family, his ideologies, and how his mind speaks i realized in a shocking way that indeed he was weird! i can not say that he belongs to that group cause i don't know their ideologies! and honestly i didn't bother to read about it cause i couldn't careless! but all i can say is that i haven't witnessed anyone who is more racist than this guy! all i did was just listening to him as he speaks and then smiles to what he says without complaining which i always do when i meet new people, i realized that i was extremely speechless to everything that he said and shockingly it effected me which lead to those 3 darkened days that i pray to GOD that i won't witness anymore till the day i die! Now i can't deny that the guy was extremely good to me as he never hurt me with words or anything, he was very ethical to me, but the way he sees people & the way he crash them by talking about them was beyond imagination. Now the story that involves this perfume is that he said "Botte" means boots, it's the most smell of joy or heaven (i don't really remember which exactly) that i have ever witnessed", and since i am quite extremely curious about people's tastes so i decided to have a sniff on this one and the rest of the trilogy in order to know what this blend is about.... WELL, it's quite a designer's quality blend! & i have sniffed it somewhere but not in one piece rather than many mixed, i mean it's like a mix of 2 to 3 blends, one of them is "Cuir Venenum" by Pierre Guillaume, the second is "Tuscan Leather" by Tom Ford but much less strength, and i don't remember the 3rd! but maybe it has a very low quality hints of "1862" by Xerjoff JTC (not in the DB) the one that "Sergio" created for prince Harry & prince William, the name came from the day that a surviving Polo club was found but i don't remember the name, and it was exclusive gift for attendees of The Kent & Curwen Royal Charity on 2014 (as Constantine - Xerjoff Ambassador - Said to me once) & then it became exclusive to Harrods. Now i can't explain to you how perfectly rough leather that "1862" has, it has that horse stable (minus the dirt of course) with that leather covers the place, too harsh and too perfect. I remember i had a spray once on my hand when i was in Harrods London then i went to DKNY in new bond street WALKING from Harrods to buy some swimwear for my brother, when i was on the cashier the guy almost begged me saying "Hey man, please please tell me where did you buy your perfume! i love weird and uncommon smells", i was shocked :) but then i realized it was "1862". So "Botte" has some hints of "1862".. JUST HINTS. "Botte" is like a glue kind of leather which i believe it comes from violets, and the violet leaves, mixed with patex glue & i think the mahogany wood makes it quite a headache. It has bamboo as it calms down as you can smell the planty and green effect of it but the worm glue conquers the scene and i believe it does have hints of peaches. Surprisingly, i get "Iris Gris X.O." by Legendary Fragrances sort of vibes!!!! i am completely sure that i do get vibes of it! Eventually, i wouldn't be surprised if the label on this was "Abercrombie & Fetch" cause honestly the quality is quite low and it doesn't smell that much like leather or boot! maybe some kind of leather when you want to think too much and then believe it's a leather! by then you'll reach somewhere :) I really believe that this blend doesn't worth it's price tag! maybe 100$ or 140$ max, but 500$+ no, thank you.

this is not a typical Chanel kind of leather with barnyard smell, but rather sophisticated new leather piece of garment, that smells like elegance, to compare it with a shoe smell is demeaning. This extrait has power but no sharp angles, its soft rounded smell of slightly bitter slightly smokey and 1/3rd of violety new leather smell. The violet here dances perfectly with that non sweet sort of smokey/powdery leather character making it unique combination in leathery perfumes and the one that stands out in its luxury, lovely scent that feels very natural,it has moderate to low sillage, so elegant like some mentioned here.....for some reason makes me addictive...its bitternes resembles to sauce left after drinking turkish coffe. its so bitter but also has something interesting that makes me search for more and more...like searching for flowers in an ashtray lol...something nice and something odd at the same time.amazing

The first wearing left me struggling to get past the strong opening of jasmine, civet, and violet. The drydown is f'n amazing though. Now after a few wearings it's simply outstanding from start to finish and the finish is long long after the start. Great stuff.

The ideia in here is very similiar to Jasmin & Cigarettes by Eldo. But yes, it is a better job. The violet note (ionona) makes all the difference.
