La Selle

I found a sample of this whilst cleaning out my cupboards. Very nice, elegant, leather/wood/smokey smell. Solid projection. It smells like a wealthy, cool, professional person circa 2016.

Le LAbo Santal 33 comes to mind indeed, the most masculine leather in the range, with green, tarred, smoked, very dark woody notes but with a nice smoothness.

To me this is extremely close to a dry-fresh sandalwood fragrance, so far Le Labo's comes to mind.. Nice but definitely not worth the price.

Isn't this the same juice as Sellier?

What is wrong with me? La Selle has all my favourite ingredients and still doesn ́t work for me. Unlike La Botte, which really delivers the idea of the bootmaker ́s craft, all I get here is imperfect chemical birch and sickening suede. Impressive longevity: too bad it ́s a scrubber.

Feces vs. Saddle!? You guys are debating about the wrong thing. Did you see the price!? With that being said, this is a bad ass fragrance. This ain't for no punk ass dude. You gotta have some sauce to flow with this one..and when I say sauce, I'm talking about swagger. For me, this has the right amount of everything. The smell of Selle is akin to one of those Stefano Ricci jackets. The leather is 24 karat quality, absolutely jaw dropping as it pivots towards a velvety suede note. This is smoky only for a few seconds and that's because the suede tranquilizes the birch like a dart gun to an elephant. Once it gets to the suede stage, it pretty much stays that way. As I wear this sample, I feel like one of those Ralph Lauren models. No doubt the price will beat up your pockets. You will need riot gear. A great alternative is Edward Bess Genre which is currently in my top 5. As far as La Selle is concerned, it's Christmas list type of stuff for sure.

Lovely smell and extraordinary staying power but that price. That price. It's too much. Impractical unless you have loads of disposable income and even then... It isn't that original, that special, to merit spending almost US$ 400 on 30 ml of scent. Just... no.

Interesting. When smelled close from skin, the wet-cement aspect of cashmeran is obvious; but move away a bit, there is something rancid, a water-down “barnyard” note. So this perfume is both rural and industrial at same time.

Outstanding longevity. I could still smell traces of this two days after trying a sample. But here's the kicker: after 10 minutes of smelling like an incredibly sexy leather couch, all I got was Body Shop White Musk.

For anyone who speaks french, I can't believe this perfume is actually called La Selle!! ; )
