Rose of No Man's Land Absolu

A much appreciated improvement on the original in my opinion, I have less than stellar thoughts and experiences with the OG, as it smellt like an old fashioned rose without any nuance on my skin from memory, not that there's anything bad with that but it's not my preference, this however keeps the core idea but adds quite a bit to it. Much like the original the core is a beautiful and strong Turkish rose, however the florals themselves smell sweeter in this to me, on top of that it has a hefty dose of a tart raspberry throughout the opening and the mid, which add a much needed brightness to the mix, all tied together with an airy almost fresh-like spiciness that is understated but more than welcome. Projection for me was medium to strong and longevity was an impressive 10-11 hours. As is with the original it definitely leans feminine, however I don't think this is entirely a feminine fragrance. This is honestly a solid daily driver fragrance for a certain person, due to its easygoing tartness and the soft but firm rose, all seasons except a hot summer day would suit it wonderfully. All this bring said, it's not something I as a guy would personally wear outside once every blue moon since I appreciate its profile, but objectively I think it's well made, high quality, and a good improvement on/flanker of the OG. Final verdict is an 8.4/10

Rose of No Man's Land is a ROSE lover's rose, so if you're ambivalent about rose, just carry on! I had a small travel spray of the original and loved it unquestionably but dammit, it did not last, and for that price I couldn't justify buying it given the lousy performance. This one, however, while I need to test further on skin, is lasting ages on the card I test sprayed it on yesterday -- a good sign! I enjoy the added fruitiness in this absolu version -- I love rose but rose and fruit - especially raspberry and blackcurrant?? I'm SMITTEN. This is a gorgeous, straightforward fruity rose bomb and I NEED IT!!!

The first whiff.. heaven. And than my critical mind said. Wait. Pause. This spin off from the original Rose of No Man’s Land may disappoint ( they usually do by an astounding 50% rate ) 30 minutes later, I carefully deeply inhale my skin, my cloth and sooo pleasantly surprised that it settled down to become more mellow, more richer and smokier.. yes its denser thanks to the prominent note of saffron, amber, patchouli that makes the projection eternal to me. All the fruity notes and peonies behave like the background choir making the whole ensemble complete. Now all it needs is an applause

This scent is as if a rose decided to be as mysterious, captivating, and chic as possible - an unmistakable aura of refinement. Passersby will get a hint of it, but it doesn't dominate the room, elevator, or car, nor does it offend those who aren't fans of rose. Two spritzes onto clothes is plenty for myself and those around me to enjoy. At $400 USD a bottle, this is certainly expensive, but for the compliments and its longevity, I think it's on the edge of acceptable. This is a wonderful unisex scent for anyone seeking something distinct for winter/night wear.

Byredo is a not for me kind of brand, nothing really hits me and I'm sometimes nose-blind to some of their perfume but this one is really good. I was looking for a rose that could go against portrait of a lady int term of strong and warm rose that follows you all day and I think this is the only one I've found, I was also looking for something less spicy and complex. It does not smell like Portrait but it's just so powerful, enveloping and also really pleasant. I did not like the original, but this is one is a hit for me.

This is absolutely gorgeous! I had no expectations when I tried both this and the new Bal d Afrique Absolu. I loved both of them. Rose of No Man’s Land was the one I could not stop smelling. This was the one I went back to purchase the next day. This is a predominately rose fragrance. I do get the saffron and the raspberry- makes it divine! I say this knowing that I generally do not like fruity perfumes, they usually smell synthetic to me. This just smells so good!!

Definitely different from the OG. It’s Warmer. It’s not a projection monster but it’s very there. The rose is very controlled. I get mostly saffron, patchouli and raspberry. To soon to say it’s a love but it is most definitely a strong like. I have Bal d Afrique Absolu and I believe I’ll wear this more often because BDA Absolu is a statement maker and this is more in easy reach territory.

Love this fragrance! I must say I was positively surprised after reading the mixed reviews. This has a slight spiciness to it but not in a bad way, I’m usually into fresh and airy fragrances but this is totally enjoyable to me despite of my usually scent profile. Very modern rose with a cool edge. And it totally reminds me of Ex Nihilo‘s Brompton Immortals Extrait‘s drydown.

Oh man. I love this. I love everything about this. While I found the OG RONML pretty boring, and lacking in complexity and staying power, this one makes up for it. I really do feel this will work on anyone, men and women alike. And in all times of year for that matter. Byredo's been killing it with the Absolu collection, which makes my nose happy and my wallet VERY sad.

Beautiful rose forward fragrance. Definitely get hints of the raspberry, pink pepper, and peony notes. Silage is moderate and I've gotten compliments. Longevity is better than most Byredo fragrances as the Absolu really packs a pink-colored punch but not in an aggressive way. I love each of the Absolu formulas for the main lines, they're all beautiful.

A beautiful scent. I own several rose fragrances, atomic rose, Impadia, can’t get enough etc. But nothing is like rose in nomansland absolu . On me it smells mostly patchouli, peony and rose. But it blends so well. I could easily had this is my signature scent, but price wise it’s to expensive. I bought a 50 ml, and I will use it sparingly

What A 🌹 ROSE! This is my very first rose cologne, and I got this from Harrods LDN. The Byredo lady at Harrods said this is one of her favorites and one of the best sellers. I don't disagree. I tested the entire Absolu line there and nothing came close to this in terms of 'pure WOW'. Amazing scent. So posh/niche/modern. - I'm a guy.

On a tester the drydown smelled very good. On my skin tho, it was not good. It smelled like Novellista vetiver myth and I don't like that scent profile. I want to like this and I'm going to try it again some day and I don't want to make conclusions too quickly. It's kinda feminine, but I could use it as a man.

This fragrance is incredible. I have been searching for literal years for a sexy nighttime perfume that I can wear during the winter months/cold weather. I can’t bear anything too cloying or synthetic on my skin. This is very fresh and feminine, it’s also drop dead sexy without being overbearing.

Reine de Nuit (now discontinued from the extrait line) has been rebranded as Rose of No Man’s Land Absolu. Same scent, just a bigger bottle at a lower price - total win-win! Plus, the liquid isn’t dyed anymore - no more red stains on your shirts!

Beautiful light airy rose with a subtle underlying fruitiness. Nowhere near as intense as other rose fragrances I’ve tried, making this a much easier wear in my opinion. Super versatile I’d wear this in almost any situation.

I get a lot of Oud in the opening and I’m not sure if I’m going mad. The rose seems very subtle. I really like this scent but this doesn’t smell feminine leaning at all to me, a very masculine rose scent

This is one of the prettieset perfumes ive ever smelled. But its so expensive. Does anyone have a dupe for it and not the original but specifically this one.😍😍

Not sure how this fragrance is rated so low on a recent release. Definitely a masculine floral scent with a touch of sweetness and smokiness.

A rich, deep, dark fruity rose. The base seems to me like an approachable Western oud accord. I love the leathery saffron.

I’m a bit biased, because I love the original and find it super unique due to its melancholic and earthy nature. The Absolu version is, in my opinion, more common that the EDP. It’s still very nice though, I used my decant with pleasure. It’s a more sweet and fruity version and also more smooth and warmer. I think that Delina enjoyers might find it more attractive that the original version, however I encourage all rose lovers to check it out. I feel that the original is more “serious” and mature and this version is flirty and playful. In terms of performance, on my skin it doesn’t last longer nor is stronger than the original. Both have very good parameters!

Dare I say it? I prefer the OG to the absolu version with this one. It’s pretty but this one gives more vintage rose vibes than the og which is a fresher jammy rose to my nose. I also don’t get any performance issues with the og with it lasting several hours on my skin. This one I like but if I had to choose a full bottle of 1 I’d go OG. There’s a note in here and I’m not sure what it is that just doesn’t quite agree with my skin chemistry - it’s either the saffron or the base notes but either way the OG is just better on my nose. Don’t get me wrong if someone gave me a bottle I’d wear the heck out of it but if I’m spending my own coins it’s gotta be the OG.

Julien Sorel in "Le Rouge et le Noir", an anti-hero with contradictory personality, would have smelt like this. The only rose fragrance that I personally enjoyed was Rose Highland, until now. I ́ve never cared much about the OG, but man, this is good! Smoky, fresh and dirty at the same time, and truly unisex. Saffron is one of my favorite notes and it is really well blended here. Just beautiful!

I am another one in the camp of preferring the EDP to this absolu. The rose is lost on me in this version - the opening is all currant, peony, and raspberry. It’s fruity, sweet, and in your face. Not as cloying and expected as a mall-perfume fruit, but borderline obnoxious to my nose. More gourmand than I was expecting from this house, as well. The dry down, again, is roseless. It mellows into a very warm saffron and soft black currant. Unfortunately, I don’t really love either of those notes. I may have jumped the gun on the Byredo discovery set because a lot of their scents are black currant-forward, and I’m having trouble finding one I really l-o-v-e - but i do really like the EDP version of RONML, at least.

Meh. I did not like the og and I like the absolu even less. Strong Arabian rose with sweetness but unoriginal and just ok... Sample it first!

So, this was my first meeting with a Byredo perfume and I was so excited! I've read raving reviews on Rose of No Man's Land and the biggest issue most people have with the brand is the weak performance so I was really excited to get my hands on an Absolu decant. You guys. What are we getting excited about here..? This perfume has a sweet and fruity opening. I definitely didn't get any pink pepper and as for saffron, I could as well have imagined it for how short-lived and weak it was. Then comes the rose? I guess? Or is that peony? Either way it's the most generic and faint floral that you must try really hard to pick out at all. Drydown is giving lightly spiced amber with no discernible characteristics. Now, I'll be honest, if I liked the perfume, I would likely call this "well blended". Here, instead, it just felt like such a nothingburger. Pleasant but honestly so boring and generic! As for performance, it stayed on my skin for about 4 hours with an intimate to moderate sillage. I have to assume this is due to my skin chemistry and will gladly spray some of my friends to test this theory but I also know I won't be spending any more money on Byredo testers in the foreseeable future.

I love the original Rose of No Man's Land, and was excited to receive this! But sadly, this was a hard NO, and I returned it. I ordered it through Macy's, as they will take returns but they do not carry the Byredo line in stores to test or sample first. So beware if you love the EDT, that this is NOTHING like it. To me, it has a sharp, smoky, masculine vibe that might appeal to others, but I found it terribly strong and harsh. It is truly a very different scent and vibe than the original.

Can’t wait until my girlfriend runs out of this. Not a fan of the rose in this. I can imagine a lot of people love it but I get a bit too much grandma, and the stuff is nuclear. If you’re wearing this for others I’d go with Delina or Hibiscus Mahajad. Those are God tier rose.

Much sweet and femanile than EDP. It should be renamed as absolutely not the same mood as original.

I’m returning to post this because the current hype for the Absolu version is completely misleading. I bought this based on the 4.3+ rating on Fragrantica, and I regret it deeply. (but I had also tried on it before I bought, what happened to my nose...) The Scent Profile: It is far too fruity and aggressive. The delicate rose that made the original a masterpiece is totally drowned out here. The "Fish Market" Effect: On my skin, the sweetness becomes cloying and eventually develops a sour, metallic edge reminiscent of a fish market. It is not "easy to wear" in the slightest. The Verdict: At HK$2,100, this was an expensive lesson. I ended up giving the bottle to my mother. If you love the effortless elegance of the original Rose of No Man’s Land, do not assume the Absolu is just a "stronger" version—it is a different, a lot worse beast.

Its like a really bad bath and body works fruit spray that's meant for children. It immediately smells like sweat on top of fruit. Like most of Breydo scents that I've bought samples of, it gives me that bubble in my throat that makes me want to barf. Almost as if its combination was manufactured withOUT using real materials. This scent could easily be over sprayed and really gross to get caught walking behind or standing next to because of how obnoxious it is, even in small quantities. I'm even upset that I got the sample.

I’ve never smelled the original. I’m generally a light rose fan, so delina etc is not for me. This is not the sort of rose I enjoy, it smells heavy, vintage and quite masculine.

A cheap downgrade of a beautiful scent into flashy tacky saffron that smells like most of niche perfumery rn

IMO the best genuinely unisex rose fragrance on the market that doesn’t include oud. Was all ready to buy the original but tested the absolut in selfridges and couldn’t stop smelling it for the rest of the day. I already own noctambule from givenchy’s private line, but that is strictly evening whereas the Byredo is totally versatile. Anytime any season. I think it’s a very rose forward smell (even though not listed in notes for some strange reason) but the addition of the fruits give it a more playful vibe and the patchouli and black amber ground it with an almost earthy tone. Very elegantly blended and far removed from the ‘grandma’ stereotype.

this doesn't smell like the original at all which is a great thing for me. absolu feels like a blend of ombre nomade(95%) with a noticeable hint of black saffron. bit loud but it's soooo good🤤 you'll definitely love this if you're into leathery scents overall, it's a much longer-lasting evening scent compared to RONML that smells like a musty rose(still my fav) and barely lasts an hour😞

Tried this on a blotter the other day and it instantly reminded me Molton Brown's Rose Dunes, but less intoxicating and hypnotising. Comparing the pyramids, they have quite a few similar notes. I still prefer the Molton Brown one as for me it's deeper, plus I don't like longevity of Byredo, especially with such a price point.

I prefer the OG over this. Too much saffron and peony for my taste. Although Fragrantica does not list rose, the Byredo website lists a "trilogy of roses." I also seem to smell something like ambroxan in the dry down, which I don't like. Lots of rose fragrances that I think are better.

I am surprised at how long the fresh scent lasts! These fresh notes normally dissipate quickly in my experience. Its a complex and interesting scent which is what I like in a perfume. Not boring, it keeps surprising me the longer it sits on my skin. It smells very feminine to me.

Just received one today and it smells a lot like LV Attrape-Revés. It’s sexy dark and spicy. Definitely a night time fragrance I would say. But maybe daytime if you spray light

Beautiful powdery Turkish rose reminiscent of Attrape Reves and Delina Exclusif, with a touch of the depth and complexity of Side Effect in the drydown. I like!

very masculine rose imo. great fragrance. but like all byredos even the absolus they just don’t last or project too much. otherwise great fragrance 7.5/10

This blew me tf away, for the longest Initio Atomic Rose and Portrait of a Lady were my favorite rose frags but hands down by far this is my #1 Rose 💪🏽😎🌹

I wish I got the rose everyone is talking about but this is 99% saffron. Barely anything else. Nothing like the original version.

Not worth it, smells almost exactly like Shaghaf Oud Swiss Arabian which is less than a quarter of the price
