Rouge Chaotique 2025

Smelled this at Byredo's boutique in Soho and absolutely fell in love. The extraits are done incredibly well. I'm really surprised no one's really talking about this one. If you're a fruit + pachouli + oud lover like me, this one is for you! Do yourself a favor and get your nose on it. Its pricey though.

I really enjoy this! The fruity aspect does remind me a lot of Rouge Trafalgar Extrait, with this being more on the chypre side of things.

Smelling this new reformulation broke my heart. But I could learn to love it. Don’t get me wrong, it is a very good scent, and I don’t hate it. For those who are only now discovering Byredo’s Rouge Chaotique, you have no idea what you’re missing. This latest version feels different, uncanny almost! It is like when a beloved childhood pet passes away and your parents replace it with a look-alike. There is just something unexplainably off about it. Having been loyal to the original one, this new rendition is less complex and less intense, with weak sillage. It's just too watered down. An unfortunately overly expensive downgrade. I'm still in pain that they discontinued the original 2023 Rouge Chaotique. Rest in peace to a good perfume that’s now an overpriced version of its former self :’(

Smells like you’re squeezing red berries into a super expensive cup at a fancy restaurant. I also do get a bit of that baccarat in the dry down. Smells great but it’s not worth the price tag

I fell in love with RCH 2019, a fragrance that stood out for its depth, intensity, and beautifully dark character. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued along with the entire Night Veils collection. While this newer version is not without its merits, it falls noticeably short in comparison. The sillage and overall intensity feel significantly toned down, which diminishes the fragrance’s presence and impact. More importantly, it lacks the rich, almost hypnotic darkness that made the original so distinctive. Overall, it is a quite pleasant interpretation, but it does not fully capture the essence or quality of the 2019 version, and therefore does not quite do it justice.

Very sweet to me... too much if I smell it up close. It is like BR540 and AS Paradis had a baby. Definitely cloying if oversprayed The oud helps it not become too much, but would only wear in colder weather, definitely can fill a room

This does not do the original Rouge Chaotique justice. Less sillage, does not last much, and lacks that deep dark sweetness that characterises Rouge Chaotique.
