Amor Pour Homme Tentation

First sniffed this in a random perfume store in Budapest on a winters day back in 2009 and it fueled the fire inside me for wanting to buy nice smelling things. This was incredible. To me it smelled of an intensely dark, spicy, smokey & juicy fruit. It was unlike anything I had ever smelled at the time. I can't tell you how devastated I am even to this day this can no longer be got. It was one of the nicest smelling scents I ever put my nose to.

Smells very similar to Dior Fahrenheit Le Parfum, but lighter. Imagine Calvin Klein did a dupe of Fahrenheit Parfum, and that's basically what you have here. Great romantic scent, decent longevity and projection. I like this one! But Fahrenheit Parfum is, of course, better.

Finally found this one. The notes seemed quite intriguing to me, since you don’t see a lot of mainstream/designer fragrances featuring jasmine as the most prominent note. It opens up quite juicy, sweet and spicy. The ginger is a bit muddled though, it doesn’t have that tangy, sparkling aspect. The mandarin provides the juiciness. The opening isn’t really anything to write home about; so are the mid notes. The jasmine is rather well behaved: it isn’t indolic, but it is very sweet/one-dimensional and slightly sour due to the cassis note. Amor Tentation becomes a lot more interesting when the incense and cedar start to show up. They mingle perfectly with the opening/mid notes, providing a smoky, woody, sharp touch to the sweetness. The drydown is quite masculine; something I wouldn’t have guessed considering the composition. It smells completely fine, but I wouldn’t pay a large amount for it; if you can find it for a small price – go for it. Sillage is moderate. Edit: It reminds me of a softer and mellower Bleu de Chanel.

Another commercial attempt that catched my heart. Good ! Sweet, juicy, oriental, very easily wearable. This one surprised me as I hate Amor pour homme. It requires a little to be appreciated but after more than a year I still love it. Intriguing for a so commercial mainstream product. The only problem is : how much time will it still be available ? Discontinued! It starts as a fruity floral fragrance, a bit sharp for my nose. This sharpness is what most floral fragrances suffer from, but Tentation fades into a sweet, incense base. The base is like a cherry-er YSL M7 base. Wonderful!
