Eden

I was so excited to try Eden. The whole idea of perfumes inspired by desserts was enough for me to quickly order one. A fruit tart. Pineapple, lemon, orange, melon. What’s not to like? My first try was a little heartbreak. Doesn’t smell as I thought. Not unisex. It’s a powdery fruit tart, just to give an idea. For some weird reason I can imagine Marie Antoinette wearing this perfume. As a gourmand fragrance I see the whole idea and execution but as with many niche perfumes, the idea doesn’t fully translate in real daily life. I was hoping something brighter, uplifting, young. Try to get a sample first.

For some reason, perfumes with juicy fruit notes like peach, lychee, pineapple and mango...etc tend to smell 'overripe' on my skin and Eden is no exception. Opens with bright fruity scent and then turns into very sweet and sour of pineapple and peach syrup which of course smell 'overripe' to my nose. There is also some 'waxy' element in it and reminds me of berry-scented candle. The only perfume of this house that gives me nausea. Sillage and longevity is good and it's a good perfume but goes wrong with my body chemistry. I'm sure it could smell beautiful on the right person.

Testing out cafe de parfum and judging the notes I assume this fragrance is probably the "safest" and easiest to like by modern tastes. It kills me a little to admit I'm that basic, but honestly this fragrance so far has been the most enjoyable. I came close to liking Grim Fantasia, but ultimately found it too camphorous. I like the fragrance enough to use up my sample, but it's not a love story. Eden is heavy, syrupy, and powdery. Something I was not expecting with the bright and cheerful looking notes in the perfume. I get a strong peach and pineapple syrup, mingling with a minty cream. There is a talcum-y powder affect too. I love sweet, but this is the wrong kind of sweet and heavy for me personally. Esteban, I could see Marie wearing this :)
