Escape for Men

★★★★ In the 90s, when I was a child, I had my first experiences with fragrances which equipped me with wonderful nostalgic memories and associations with places and people. Some of the scents I remember from that era were Jean-Paul Gaultier's Le Male that my dad used to wear (and still does), By by Dolce & Gabbana, Eau De Soir, and Polo Sport that was one of my first scents I was given as a present. Now, there were a couple of scents I remember as a memory but never really had their identity revealed, therefore there were just indistinct memories that lingered in my brain for all this time, blurred images and thoughts of a beautiful careless feeling, a place and a season. When I revisited Escape for Men recently, I suddenly completed the puzzle. That smell that i could not really put into words, that blurred image just got crystal clear and left me speechless experiencing something very personal while smelling my wrist. I was a kid, in my room, playing Nintendo 64, the air condition was on in that hot summer day, and a couple of friends were over. Someone was wearing Escape that day, and i remember noticing it and enjoying the smell without asking what it was because I was only a child and Pokemon seemed like a more interesting subject for discussion. Escape smells very 90s, not because it has a synthetic aquatic character, but because it has a relaxed and outdoor influenced freshness that was popular back then, casual but elegant at the same time. It starts out with a wonderful melon note, but it is not sporty in character. The top notes are achieving that outdoor freshness, because both the mango and the melon are not too sweet since they are blended wonderfully with the herbal freshness of the eucalyptus. After that, the middle notes stay for a few hours, which is a blend of fruits and green herbs with some woody undertones, nothing stands out, all working in harmony creating a unique aroma that is youthful but not juvenile, casual but not cheap, just uplifting and crisp. The base notes are very discreet and support the masculine character of the fragrance without letting it be unisex. Escape lasts for about 8 hours on my skin with good sillage for the first couple of hours and then a moderate sillage for the most of its lifespan until the soft base notes appear. If I try to set my personal memory aside, I can say with confidence that this is truly underrated, since it does what fragrances like Millesime Imperial tried to do, only Escape is cheaper, unpretentious and more original, released at a time where good aromatics thrived before extreme aquatic sporties dominated a few years later. The green notes in this make it suitable for the winter too, therefore it can be a great signature scent for every occasion and in every temperature, well, at least for me, after having the true vintage Kouros and the niche Acqua Di Sale on that position, and after having tried so many rare and niche fragrances that try too hard, the conclusion was finally the notion of "less is more". This, Kenzo Pour Homme and Ralph Lauren Polo Sport are my summer staples, what can I do, I'm a 90s kid. In an era that gourmands are trendy and oud is everywhere, I walk around wearing Escape and when people ask me what am I wearing, expecting an answer equivalent to Creed or Acqua Di Parma, I just remind them of what the fragrance aesthetics used to be, when creativity was a priority. Please, all you fragrance lovers out there, there are some creations from the 90s you choose to ignore that are still relevant today, after all the trend in the 90s was modernity and transparency, doesn't that suit your total black Skandinavik urban clothing look? Four fruity fresh stars for the sake of nostalgia!

Escape for Men was launched in 1993 to pair with the highly successful female version, launched in 1991. Its fragrance was created by Steven Demercado and David Apel, at a time when little was said about co-creations, which is why few people know about the presence of the latter in the creative process. Escape for Men is classified as aromatic, but on the skin, it reveals very striking fruity nuances and a very surprising woody drying. At the start, it brings notes of bergamot, eucalyptus leaves, melon, mango, grapefruit, cedar, and juniper. On the body, it brings notes of rosemary, cypress, birch leaves, fir balm, marine accord, and sage. At the base, it brings notes of amber, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, and oakmoss. Escape for Men is from a time when we still had creations with fewer synthetic notes, resulting from prohibitions imposed by the industry. My bottle dates from August 1997 and can therefore be considered vintage. After that, much is said about a reformulation that brings less quality to sandalwood and, above all, to oakmoss. And it is also worth warning about repackaging since the most current bottles do not have the matte/frosted effect of yesteryear. On the skin, Escape for Men shows the weight and huge success of the Calvin Klein brand in the 90s, when its fragrances were of high quality and desired worldwide. The fragrance touches the skin in a very juicy way, a real fruity mix with a lot of grapefruit and melon, which does not easily yield to the mango notes but does not resist the camphor side of the eucalyptus. Here, this creation achieves something rare, which is to stimulate the taste buds without using gourmet notes. Then, a green and aromatic rosemary smell starts to emerge, taking us from the juice stand at the beach and transporting us to a sunny and not-so-humid forest, with green woods and many aromatic and balmy facets. On my skin, cypress and birch stand out, with citrus and leathery nuances. Escape for Men leaves the fruity environment and enters the aromatic-green universe, which precedes the arrival of denser and woody notes, with the enormous creaminess – almost powdery – of sandalwood and all the green aspect of the oakmoss. In this fragrance, we don't have the mossy facets that are common in fougères, but the green and exquisite ones of the chypre (especially the feminine ones). On my skin, Escape for Men has high performance and is, in my opinion, a masterpiece of world perfumery. Its fragrance manages to change, deviating through different olfactory paths until reaching an extremely elegant, youthful (in a way) and refined result. Even today, when I wear my Escape for Men, I notice that people ask me the name of the scent, waiting to hear the name of a Creed or other brand in the niche segment, and are surprised when I say it is a Calvin Klein. Without a doubt, it is one of the best aromatic and fresh fragrances ever created for the male audience in the 90s.

Story time... I was in Highschool and I remember talking to the sales lady @ Hecht's as she said it was CK's newest fragrance... I loved it... It was the one I asked my folks for and received as a gift for Christmas in 1993.. It became the scent that I would tie all of my high school memories to... I had only been dating the girl that is still my wife for a couple months so our early relationship is tied to this scent... I had many more bottles of Escape through out the 90s as well... And have multiple versions now and will ALWAYS have them in my collection... The current "clear glass" formulation is just a shadow of it's former self... I mean it is still nice but it's not the same fragrance... It's much sweeter and long gone is that masculine birch note (like fresh cut birch wood and not birch tar) that really manned up the heart of this fragrance... So some tips to would be buyers... If you are looking to pick a bottle up, pay attention to the back of box... If it says Coty & "Made in Spain" on the back it will be nice if it's the first time you are smelling it because you don't know what you are missing... As long as you do not already have scent memories tied to this scent you'll be happy with this... BUT... If it says Coty on the back & "Made in USA" on the bottom then you should have a frosted bottle and it will be more like what you want... It's a nicer a richer scent... BUT... If you find "Unilever" on the back and "Made in USA" on the bottom printed on the cellophane... (If no cellophane then no code on the box...) You are even closer to the original and the bottle will be from early 2000s... In the range of 20 years old... This version is very close to the OG and it may be the version you have your scent memories tied to... ^_^ BUT FINALLY... Should you come across the unicorn for Escape lovers... No Coty on the back... No Unilever on the back... Just Calvin Klein Cosmetics... 4 Cities: New York, London, Paris, Milano on the back... "Made in USA" on the bottom cellophane... (Again... If no cellophane then no code on the box...) Short Ingredient list in multiple languages... You have an OG 90s bottle that may be 30 years old... If it was stored properly then you have the golden egg that the goose laid... ^_^ I actually have this version on right now... Not as sweet as current... That wonderful birch note... Richer and fuller than any other version because the base notes are of a higher quality before IFRA limited them... Just laying outside in the grass at night looking up at the stars with your future still ahead of you... The possibilities were endless and the fragrance was incredible... Actually... It still is... ^_~

CK Eternity + Escape = my childhood. During the past few years I've tested and owned many fragrances. Dolce & Gabbana's The One reminded me of this fragrance for some reason which lead me to give this a review. This is the first fragrance I've ever had that could be called a "unisex" fragrance. I think both men and women could pull this one off. Back in the day...the days when CK eternity, Davidoff cool water , Aqua di Gio, Fahrenheit dominated earth with "manly" or "Aquatic" scents. I chose this one to be a little different. I've had so many compliments wearing this I've lost count how many. Not every guy can pull this one off even though it is a lovely scent. You have to smell it since it is generally speaking.....not a scent you would associate with a big bulky, muscular man. And those men wouldn't wear this. It is still true to this day. I find this scent to be really sexy and so do girls. Today, there are many other fragrances to choose from so this one is going under the radar. Many young , new generations who has never smell this should give this masterpiece a try. I've only had bottles that are 10+ years old. So I don't know if the quality is the same as my old bottle. Back in the day...the 80s. An eau de toilet would always have good sillage and longevity. So if you like scents like this and don't want to spray/bathe in Dolce & Gabbana's the One. Give this a try. People around you WILL smell you and it will last all day....like a good cologne should. Having used an entire bottles of this and speaking 20 years later...this is a 9/10 fragrance. Worthy to be named alongside all the other greats from the 80s and 90s.

This was the second fragrance I ever owned and the first one I bought with my own money in summer 2003, before my sophomore year in high school. About once every 3-4 years I'll pick up a bottle just for nostalgia's sake, and while it has been noticeably reformulated a few times, the essence of it is still there. CK Escape certainly ain't a powerhouse fragrance. The projection is just a little more than arm's length. On my skin it lasts about 3 hours, so for anyone interested in wearing it, I'd recommend carrying a small travel sprayer for reapplications throughout the day. Thankfully it is inexpensive and 100ml bottles can be found in the $25-30 range. That said, I find the melon and mango notes in the top unique for a men's fragrance. The fir and birch notes mixed with the aquatics in the mids is very clean and refreshing, and the base with the sandalwood, oakmoss, and vetiver is fine by me. It is certainly different from the olfactory shotgun blast of pepper notes and ambroxan that sorta took over in the mid-late 2010s. So yeah, this stuff smells a bit dated. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though. Dated in a 90s sense is very different from dated in a 70s/80s sense. Your significant other won't comment on you smelling like her dad and/or grandpa. It is pretty inoffensive and works well enough in an office environment (interestingly gotten quite a few compliments about it in the office) or just as a spring/summer day outdoorsy fragrance. Personally, I very much enjoy CK Escape despite its shortcomings, and while it isn't in my weekly rotation of everyday fragrances, I do regularly come back to it.

Misty-Melon Over Spicy Shades-of-Wood ... This scent by Steve DeMercado came out in 1993, two years after Escape for Women came out in 1991, a year which also saw the release of Point Break, the surfing film starring Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze & Lori Petty. The mood & tone of the film represent both the women's & men's Escape well, and I could imagine a scene from the film smelling like this, or Keanu wearing it on set. It reminds me of surfers getting up at dawn when it's still misty, to catch the best waves - and like the women's version, it has a misty, overcast & cooling vibe. Opens with a burst of melon accented by eucalyptus, but already the aquatic sea-water and woody aromatics including balsam-fir are swelling through. The overall effect here in the opening is a fresh & spicy melon. As it transitions to the heart, the aquatic melon continues but underpinned by a woody-aromatic accord from a combination of notes that leans near-cedar. The base notes continue this effect of spicy melon over shades-of-wood, but eventually it becomes a vetiver scent for me. What sets this apart is really the melon, which again fits well with the theme and name, Escape. My sister wore Escape for Women, back in the day, and there are similar themes, but I had never really tested this until recently. I'm really enjoying it, especially the melon opening, but it does lean masculine, more so in the drydown. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Escape is in that typical early 90's style. A sort of proto-aquatic so to speak. Not too shabby at all, and far better than most of the fresh fragrances that followed it. It opens with a calone infused cocktail of melon, fresh eucalyptus, grapefruit and mango. It's quite fruity and sweet, yet also quite ozonic. It's a very light and spaced accord, unlike most of the modern fruity scents that tend to be tightly packed and in your face. The middle stage is where a peculiar green edge makes it's presence. A combination of sage, fir, crisp juniper and cypress. The middle accord is quite weird. Almost confused as it's both quite green yet also quite fresh. However it's mixed expertly with the opening notes. The drydown is very subtle. I mainly get a hint of smoky birch, vetiver and a tiny bit of amber. It's very subtle to put it mildly, but it's there. I find it hard to actually pin down why I enjoy Escape so much. It is a very generic fragrance, yet it's blend is done so damn well. It's not a masterpiece by any shape of the imagination, but it's one of those scents that I just enjoyed from the first sniff. It's a very worthy try and much better than most of the nonsense that Calvin Klein has released since then. Longevity is quite good - 6-7 hours. Rating: 7/10

Holy 90's Batman! This has the smell of an era. I'm not sure if someone I knew in my childhood wore this or if this type of scent was popular during it. I'm going to guess the latter and I really enjoy it. It doesn't feel dated but certainly not in style anymore. Who cares? A style is yours and yours alone. Escape is a fitting name. The opening is fruity. The melon, cooling eucalyptus, mango and somewhat aquatic notes up front. The middle is herbal with the fruitiness still in full force. The drydown being a mix of all with a pleasingly sweet green tone. It's what I would imagine a tropical oasis would smell like. Very good. It's decidedly masculine, I don't think even the sweetness makes this unisex enough for a woman but to each their own. An age group doesn't fit. I think it's a bit fun for the office or formalities, casual use in spring and summer is the best bet. The sillage is very decent as is the longevity. However, on clothes, this stuff lasts days or longer. I live in a tropical state so a week or so ago I sprayed it on my zip up hoodie and it's still there. What you will get far outweighs what you pay with this one.

Fantastic smell but weak longevity and projection !! But a lot of the present day expensive big brand fragrances also have weak projection and longevity.. So, can't really blame a fragrance that came out in the 90s.. I absolutely envy the people who used this fragrance in the 90s !! This has such an amazing scent profile !! It's really unfortunate that none of the present day perfumers or designer houses are trying to recreate anything even remotely close to the CK Escape scent DNA.. My CK Escape bottle from 2022 smells very "minty-fruity", fresh, slightly sweet and very green.. Think of a basket full of sweet, juicy summer fruits surrounded by lots of fragrant fresh, green leaves on a bright summer day.. I would associate the CK Escape smell with such an imagery.. Projects at about a 3 or 4 inch radius for the first 2 hours or so.. On skin the longevity is around 3 hours.. On clothes the scent lasts for days.. If that qualifies as "longevity" then yes, CK Escape has an eternal longevity !! My summers would be incomplete without this fragrance.. Calvin Klein should bring this masterpiece back !!

Being someone who still has a bottle from 95 and just purchased a bottle in 2019 I can tell there is a reformulation, but the interesting thing is there isn’t that much of a difference. I have no reason to deceive anybody here. After spraying the 95 bottle on my left hand and the 19 bottle on the right, they both smell exactly the same, maybe a little sweeter on the 95 side, but the 2019 side is a little more aromatic in the middle, but the difference is so subtle.. I timed them both from first spray and after 3 hours I get a skin scent, but it lasted for about 7 to 8 hours each. One of the reviewers below was bang on with their assessment in regard to this smell. The biggest problem I have with this smell is that the opening is ridiculously strong, to the point where you can’t over spray to increase longevity because you can literally clear people out of a room. Like the reviewer below me said, there is no off switch. The price is right too, got my 100ml at a local Rexall Pharmacy for 23 bucks after tax. This is a classic and have never smelled anything like it.

I find myself having to re-review this, bought a bottle about a year ago which has sat unloved in the fragrance cupboard, yesterday on a hot sunny day it got an airing, I sprayed it generously, the initial opening I'm still unchanged on, it's a little bit harsh in a sharp fruity kind of way, but once that passed what develops is something very complex and rather wonderful. I've recently become a huge fan of Guy Laroche's Horizon, and as Escape developed I kept getting a whiff of Horizon, wonderful gorgeous aquatic notes that myself and others kept noticing and complimenting. For those that have reviewed Escape in a negative light please do what I've done and consider giving it another chance. Maybe wearing it in a warmer climate was beneficial, but boy that drydown was fantastic. I agree with those who have said there is a synthetic thing going on, I find all of Calvin Klein's fragrances (except Obsession) have it, here it doesn't bother me. It is a classic.

I bought my own bottle in 1994 and it came with a travel size. I took the travel size to school and kept it in my gym locker to spray on after running 1 mile in +80F weather in September when it was back to school. I had PE class in the morning and I could not stink the rest of the day...God forbid. Well...I would spray it on before getting dressed in my normal clothes and the other kids in PE class would want to borrow some. I wasn't stingy so I would share it. But then my travel size ran out and I would bring my full size bottle to school. Again, a very sophisticated fragrance for a 14 year old in HS...but I LIVED!!!!!! So now I might go out looking for a bottle just for the nostalgia of it. I am a fan of using fragrances as fancy car freshener or using them in my diffusers for home fragrance....Guess it's time to hit up a Ross or Marshall's!!! LOL Very nostalgic indeed. One of the best Calvin Klein fragrances i have ever smelt. A great cheap, fresh, aquatic fragrance that lasts a decent amount of time. This starts off very woody, citrusy, aquatic, fresh and fruity. Dry down is mostly the same to my nose. Although Escape for Men came out 30 years ago, it smells relevant and uplifting to my nose. I can recommend this for all age groups because of its price and its versatility towards all age groups. Let's talk about performance. I got around 5-6 hours on my skin with a medium projection, leaning on the masculine side. Since it's a fresh, aquatic it is best for the spring and summer. This is mainly a daytime fragrance. Lastly, is it a safe blind buy? Yes, for sure it is. If you love old school fresh, aquatic, ozonic, fruity fragrances like this, then this is for you. In conclusion: Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 6.5/10 Projection: 6/10 Escape for Men by Calvin Klein: 8.5/10

I was in the middle of sampling bottles (Hugo,Lacoste, Azzaro, Lanvin, Dunhill, CK) in a bazaar when I finally came to this and man, this smelled different from them all and I liked it immediately. Theres something layered in the air that I cannot identify exactly, like the smell on my hand is different from the smell reaching my nose like fruity but somewhat greenish, green but not herbal/medicant, aquatic but not salty nor sweet. No ambroxan also. Weird layers forming a synergy of notes from top to bottom. I have to gather myself and after visiting the shop twice and testing again and again, I became like an eagle that is ready to swoop down a prey that hes been observing, studying and hunting for days and weeks. I simply dig this scent. Its different from 95% of what we are smelling from perfume shops these days. 8.2/10

Fresh, fruity, woody and aquatics, the DNA definitely spilled out into other lines in the 90s-00s. This came out 3 years before Acqua di Gio and while that one could be argued as a perfection of the style by swapping in some florals Escape shouldn't be overlooked if you want a day with a bit more zing. Versace Dylan Blue occupies the same space as this in my collection, having the same clean shower gel or laundry feel that works really well in warmer weather- Escape has a fruity burst followed by a well blended herbal aroma, with the wood remaining delightfully fresh. Yes, it's not where near as strong as it was in the 90s, however! 1- we don't smoke as much so you don't need a fresh fragrance ot have a beast mode anymore and 2- you can pick this up for not much money at retailers at the moment, so just keep spraying it

I have been testing for a week, what can I say? An uncompromising fragrance. Mild at first, almost like a little white cloud on the sky, but after an hour it starts to show its horns and drills into the nose incredibly. Sharp, slightly spicy, but this is what I expect from it. Safe for the office and everyday use. When I take off my jacket, I smell it all around, despite only 4 puffs. Strongly noticeable after a day's work, with the skin even after 12 hours, which I must consider a result above average for my parameters. It projects nicely, unobtrusively. Price to quality... well, ladies and gentlemen... I wish all the other fragrances in my collection were as long-lasting, even the much more expensive ones. A positive surprise and a spring return to a classic from many years ago of my youth.

I had this in the late 90s and I just got a new bottle to see if it still smelled good and man does it take me back to the 90s. Just like I remember it. What a wonderful classic fragrance that still smells great today and does not smell dated at all. This is a great alternative to the sea of “blue” men’s fragrances. If you’re looking for a great everyday signature scent that doesn’t smell like every other fragrance at Dillard’s and Macy's then do yourself a favor and pick this up cheap from an online discounter like I did. I think this is blind buy safe while still being unique. IMO this is the best offering from Calvin Klein and it is also the longest lasting and best performing. Lasts all day. 8/10

CK Escape for men is one of my ultimate top ten fragrances. It's one that got me into fragrances back in 1995. My review is of the original formula, which was strong and long-lasting. It projected fantastically and always garnered compliments. It was a casual but uplifting scent that would definitely carry you throughout the day. Today's formula is simply tragic. For the life of me, why do fragrance manufacturers do this to legendary fragrances? If it wasn't for Dior Fahrenheit, Chanel Platinum Egoiste, CK Eternity, Aqua Di Gio, CK One, and CK Escape, I wouldn't have such an affinity with fragrance. All of the above fragrances pale in comparison to what they once were, and it is a shame.

I'm new to the fragrance world, and finding out that this was apparently a popular scent was a little shocking. This is my favorite scent, I have been using it since I was 13 years old almost exclusively. It is everything you would want in an extroverted, adventurous scent. It is charming, understating, long-lasting, inspiring, outdoorsy yet classy; it's perfect. Layers well due to it's subtlety and doesn't stack hard, so you can be a little liberal without committing a war crime on your passengers or elevator mates. Do not try this scent if you want to be a better person or attract your soul mate. You may not be able to handle this scent rizz, scizz if you will.

I’m like a month into my fragrance journey. This is my 13th bottle. Cologne doesn’t seem to work too well on my body. I have to spray a ton. This is the first time I got complimented wearing a fragrance. I work on a rooftop restaurant. Tons of sun. Great for the season. For $20 this thing lasts quite a while. I could still smell it on my arm 9hrs after applying. Very fresh. It’s really powdery smelling but very pleasant. I am really liking some of these older fragrances from the 90’s. Very similar to Tommy and to RL Polo Sport. Pretty happy with this one. I will be wearing a lot.

I picked up a new bottle of Escape recently after not having smelled it in years. Smelling it makes me wanna crack open a Zima and binge-watch Melrose Place. Damn, I used to love this stuff...I don't know why I ever stopped wearing it. I still love that melon juxtaposed with the pine-firry notes. This is a juicyfruit forest. Nostaglia aside, wearing this still makes me feel so fresh and so clean...I could almost swear that my muscles get bigger and my teeth more sparkly-white, as a result of spraying Escape on my skin. I'm glad to have a bottle of this again...still so good.

Escape is nice for what it is. It's a 90s everyday fragrance for men. Fruity, slightly sweet, aromatic, aquatic. A product of its time. The term generic is unfair. What came after (and keeps coming) is what we can call generic. Escape is a pioneer. I see no problem with it. Performance is good, scent is good. No surprises there. A solid "no brainer" for the office or whatever. Drydown smells close to Platinum Egoiste without the "metallic" edge. If one's looking for art here, the issue is not with the fragrance itself... 8/10 - Escape is simple and honest

I heard so much about this classic , so i was always tempted to get it. and i was not disappointed, its so nice. so much fruity vibe from this, tropical...if you love ck eternity now, ck summer and also ck reveal,eternity, this will be an easy like.its no masterpiece but its simple and easy to use, decent longevity, i get lots of winter melon,banana and oceanic notes from it. its better than women's version. it also has cypress and kinda vetiver drydown, but not major player. i will give this classic a solid 8/10....good bang for buck and everyday usage.

Smells like eating a slightly under ripe mango at the beach on a cool but sunny day. This is nice, I always saw this in the shelves at discount department stores and just thought it was some cheap dated thing for dudes in their 50s (which it kinda is since it came out in ‘93) but this is totally modern smelling just not as candy sweet nor ambroxan heavy as most men’s releases today. Short description is - Fresh, aquatic, fruity and green in that order. This could be a new Tommy Bahama or a Creed scent if it only had worse performance.

I discovered this recently. For some reason, the original went unnoticed when it came out 30 years ago—or maybe it just never got popular around me. I find it quite within my vibe nowadays, not because of nostalgia, but for the discreet, pleasant whiffs of mango peel, amber, and rosemary it emanates. The late vestige is reminiscent of a faint, oxidized iris that becomes unpalatable on wool clothes. I know my comment might lower its "classic" status; alas, I will still give it daily use with five sprays, max.

This has become my go to the beach signature summer scent. It’s so fresh and summery, this past summer I went to the beach a lot and after getting out of the water, salt on the skin, a spritz of this is just the cherry on top. Very much a daytime scent, it probably doesn’t fit with nighttime or for the colder months, it’s pure summer. Sweet, fresh, clean and fun. Beach beach beach. Nice price and I love the bottle too, it feels so nice in the hand, longevity is quite good and projection is fine. 4 out of 5

first fragrance i ever fell in love with ,absolutely beautiful stuff ...always had an expensive warm feeling to it and that beautiful melon note was to die for ...now whether its rose coloured glasses and nostalgia i have no idea but recently bought a bottle clear not frosted and straightaway that looked wrong and it was absolute synthetic piss that lasted about 30 minutes . never been so bothered by a reformulation ,the old one was a 10/10 for me this now at 20 quid is still too much ,its dreadful

one word: SWEET It's sweet, fruity, and woodsy. The melon/peach/bergamot wave is so relaxing. As a guy who wears this, it is on the edge of what I would wear as far as feminine or fruity. I would even say the Escape for men version could pass as unisex. I get a floral vibe in the mix beyond the melon/woodsy thing. This one gets a lot of hate but I love it. My favorite item from the Escape scent family is the aftershave balm, it soothes and smells amazing. I give it an 8/10 in my opinion.

Remember back in the 90s I really owned a few bottle of this and it was really my signature scent. Revisited this yesterday, bought a 50ml original packaging - frosted glass bottle... The scent really brought back alot of fond memories. I can say that this is a truly classic woody aromatic fragrance. I have not tried the clear glass bottle version, am not sure if the scent still smells the same? In my opinion, it is still one of the best fragrance of all time.

It's an absolute classic that still holds up today. It still feels modern, fresh, unique (I've never smelled anything like it) and in my opinion, more suitable for a mature, stylish man. The projection is decent! It's not overkill, but anyone within about a metre radius will pick this up easily. The longevity isn't the best, I get about 5 hours or so but for the price, it's worth it. Treat yourself to this timeless classic, you won't be disappointed.

This is a beautiful day at the beach in a bottle. From the bright and juicy tropical opening to the dry herbaceous woody finish. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the water is clear. You’ve enjoyed a nice drink, a nice swim and sun bathed the day away. The sun sets and you’re snuggling with your sweetheart in front of a roaring bonfire. The melange of sunscreen, sea salt and smoke linger in the air as you realize what a wonderful day it’s been.

I do like this one from CK. Longevity is a little below average and the projection is no different. Having said that, I have say this is a really pleasant smelling fragrance and a favourite of mine for CK collection. It is different but not unique. Is is an enjoyable smell throughout as it shifts through each stage of its performance. There is nothing not to like about this and I give it a 7.0. Spray it on you cloths it would take it to a 7.5.

i smell fresh guava the most which i really enjoy so much. I got the latest edition in a clear bottle, all i can say the frosted one (25 years back) smells more pure and not synthetic like current blend. This is my all day frag any time when i get tired of all my niche collections. Strange enough why do i have this along with my niche range.. haha... i wish any of the niche brands would copy this and make it a much better version..

This was my first fragrance. I instantly fell in love. My father's signature fragrance was Aramis and so I went in an entirely different direction with this! A fresh fruity woody aquatic bomb that unfortunately dissipated very quickly. I remember my uncle recommended I keep it in the fridge and that would make the performance better. Spoiler alert: It did not! Will always love it though. Definitely worth a try.

Today I sniffed the reformulation and remembered why I fell in love with Escape. The sandalwood, eucalyptus and grapefruit that really make this fragrance a masterpiece are still all there. Sexy, fresh but possessing a certain bitterness, Escape works in all weathers but must of all it takes me back to a hot night in the middle of nowhere, looking up at the stars and feeling at one with the universe.

This is a beautiful FESTIVAL or BEACH fragrance for the daytime (maybe for a little bit past sunset at the latest). It has good performance and a refreshing scent, full of fun and excitement. If you wear this in summer, everyone around you will appreciate the radiation of positivity and refreshment it brings even if they can't pinpoint it's esoteric scent. Age: 16-26

One of my favorite spring and summer scents--crisp and sweet without being cloying. The vintage bottles still have excellent performance, and I infer from others that the reformulation maintains the scent profile of the OG, even if the performance takes a hit. Give this classic a try: it's a summer scent from before summer scents started trying too hard.

I'm so glad that most men are too much of pansie cakes to wear this nowadays. Better for me. because when I bring out this bad boy it's nothing but compliments galore. People always telling me it smells great and so unique. Keep on wearing your watered down aquatics.... I'll keep wearing this powerhouse aquatic.

Smells very exotic and I like to wear it in the winter because it makes me ESCAPE the cold and think of wide, warm spaces at the sea. Carefree, 90`s, somehow "banana" smelling with a touch of oak moss and seawater. By now its a classic choice for anyone who wants to drift away from the grey reality....Love!

This is one of my favourite CK fragrances. The fruity citrus opening is fresh and up lifting. I love wearing it to work or casual outings and I think it is suitable for almost all occasions. For me, it's just a light happy scent. I must get another bottle in case my current one runs out.

Man this fragrance is the epitome of a 90s scent, I just love it so much. It's fresh and fruity aswell as musky, I'm pretty sure my brother used to wear this in the 90's so it gives me such nostalgia of everything about that era. If the 1990's is your whole aesthetic get this perfume!

Even though I don't wear it an awful lot right now this used to be my signature fragrance. Eucalyptus with sandalwood and grapefruit-ish top notes, it has an underlying sexiness and freshness. Harsh to begin with, it dries down into a sweet, almost powdery finish. A forgotten classic.

Just as I remember it from my late teens in the late 90s. Just bought another bottle after 20 years without. Can't say I notice any huge differences between then and now, only the opaqueness of the bottle. Such a unique blend too. There's nothing like it that I've ever smelled

Aromatic all the way. One of the Best sellings ck's fragrances of all time. Ck's fragrances are growing up on me, but my faves are Eternity, Eternity Aqua, CKone, Obsession, Encounter fresh and Escape of course! Thumbs up for this true classic in perfumery industry. 10/10

@Fylosykos i was wondering why the bottle was clear when I bought it because when I was a kid I remember the bottle being cloudy, not clear smh. But to me the clear bottle smells and perform how I remember it. I wish I had the older version now because of you lol 😂

This one i find quiet striking. and unique. old school maybe, cheap maybe, but i don't care. I like it. it really does capture summer holidays and the beach. i find it warm and creamy. I normally hate eucalyptus, but it really works in this one. go figure

Maybe the only CK cologne that i love. It is fresh, manly and addictive. It has a dirty fruitiness that is very manly and well constructed. The melon is the prominent note but I get also some grapefruit, mango and the forest notes of trees. Recommended!!!

Smacks of the 80's... And although it's not very strong the list of notes is amazing and smells so good... My lady Ioves it. And so do I.... It's not groundbreaking and doesn't smack you in the face, but what it does do is get you noticed.... 7/10
