Calypso Figue

A beautiful earthy patchouli segues into a creamy milky fig with slightly pulpy tropical fruit notes. This is bold hands in the dirt stuff that dries in the sun to reveal the journey from the roots to the arbour and the scent of ripe fruits warmed in the sun. The mid transition from the patchouli to the incense is smooth with the patchouli being present to varying degrees throughout. To my nose not challenging in the way some have described but deeply satisfying if you love your patchouli earthy without being too redolent of Head shops.

When I first tested this fragrance, the temperatures were a little too warm for my liking. I tried again with cool breezes (late fall temperatures) and was reminded somewhat of Chanel No 5. It doesn't make sense, but before the fig really comes out....truly smelled of Chanel to me. Seeing how I love that as well...two awesome layers of note combinations that meld so well together and into the amazing base. I love this little inexpensive house. I own two now, but I will definitely have a couple more I am certain!

I get a lot of dirty patchouli in the top notes, and only a fleeting moment of playdoh (which I enjoyed while it lasted). The fig note is present in the heart phase, but is overshadowed by dry incense, which persists and becomes the main note throughout the dry-down. In my opinion, this is similar to, but better than, Les Nereides - Patchouli Antique (which was musty). It's easily a unisex scent. You have to be an incense and patchouli lover, I'd guess, to enjoy wearing this...and I am most certainly both!

I absolutely adore this fragrance. On me, I get a very creamy warm fig scent. It's a little sweet with some vanilla under tones. It's very comforting!

I blind bought this following my new crush on fig fragrances, and I'm confused! It's a very good perfume don't get me wrong, but it's way more patchouli-centered than fig-centered. Another thing: the juice in my bottle is darker than the one shown here, it's golden brown. My wife, me and my friend felt as if this is not finished project, it has no top notes, few middle notes, and strong heavy but simple patchouli at the base. - It opens up with big plast of synthetic nail polish smell thats harsh and awful. - 20 mins later: light fruity fig smell with patchouli starts to apear - At 1 hour mark the fragrance becomes 90% patchouli (dusty, earthy, dark chocolate) and 10% hint of fig leaves/fruit, it's overall dry rather than juicy fruity, and it continues like that for up to 8-10 Hs. It is a very good candidate for layering, with fruity, floral, vetiver and few rich ambry fragrances. Do I like it? Yes, I do for the simplicity and quality. Does it itch the fig edge? Big No 7.5/10

At first, I thought my bottle had turn bad, it smelled like an old papyrus tome. Dry, no sweetness, not even perfum-y. This is a strange one. I`m not sure how fig is supposed to smell, but the opening is ugly with this one. I gave it a couple days to settle from the trip, and tried again. The dry down is pretty, it gets better. To me this is a pleasant powdery creamy scent, slightly fig(?) sweet. This reminded me of a very watered down Estee Lauder`s Youth Dew, as if it was in a diluted body spray concentration (just a mist). Quite comforting and lasts 10 hour + on my skin.

Green at first application with a bit of sweetness. Fig gives a tartness that's a bit sharp but not severe. I do get sandalwood too. The tartness softens with drydown leaving a slightly smoky, incense fragrance. Also in this stage the fig takes on a bit of a coconut vibe. I find the drydown my favorite part. I doubt I'd buy unless I got a great deal but I'd certainly wear if gifted.

FILTHY. I LOVE IT. Very strong, very dirty patchouli opening. If you think Kokorico is dirty, this is about 20 x's more intensive. It takes some time to get to the fig. It is green and earthy. A true fig scent. Minimal sweetness. Ambergris is very present. This perfume actually has a very oily texture in addition to the oily/salty smell of ambergris.

Sprayed 1 spray on my 4 year old and she said its smells like um play doh lol.

This fragrance actually shocked me. A long time ago I got a sample,fell in love with it instantly, and it has been on my wishlist ever since. A while ago I got another sample and completely forgot about it until a few days ago when I sorted all my samples. So yesterday I decided to give it wearing since I loved it so much. And god, it was horrible! Awful. Disgusting. I can't write a proper review as I simply had to scrub it after a good hour. It's the opening that almost killed me. Something extremely harsh and nose-burning. A very umpleasant bitterness. After a while some sweetness came in and morphed the fragrance into a very peculiar mix of eye-watering bitter hashness and something almost gourmand. A totally new experience, to put it mildly. I didn't get any fig out of it. At least nothing like the figs I enjoy to eat. Not patchouli either, which is one of my favorite notes. The bitterness was very unique too. Nothing mossy there (that what my skin usually get bitterness from. When I scubbed it, it had softened up - but I admit I could never ever wear it again. It's really strange as I know I adored it the first time, especially as my taste has evolved a lot since then. Back then I didn't like chypres, aldehydes, or anything challenging. I vas almost only into vanilla and wood. A consfusing experience from a very confusing scent. No doubt it's good quality, but definitely not for me!

By now, I've sniffed a wide range of fig fragrances: from brown to green to red; from dry to wet; from savory to sweet. With Calypso Christiane Celle FIGUE I have encountered for the first time what might be best described as a rank-Playdoh fig perfume. Initially dusty, the composition becomes by turns slightly Playdohish and slightly dirty, the smell one might expect if a child took his Playdoh outside and worked with it on top of a big pile of dirt. By the drydown, the fig comes through a bit more strongly, but the rank Playdoh quality never really dissipates, so this composition is not for me. This may well be a skin chemistry issue, so I don't want to deter others from trying this creation, especially in view of my positive responses to so many other Christiane Celle perfumes. But FIGUE is definitely one that I can easily live without!

I can NOT decide what to make of this. On my skin, yes it's the dreaded dirt-covered playdoh-fig. It really is. BUT... on other stuff? Clothes? The seat of my car? It's straight up gritty dusty earth after a while, smells like I went camping and caked mud cracked off and is all over my car now. Which I kinda dig, it smells like nature and acts as a pick-me-up when I can't actually go get all muddy. But good LORD it sticks forEVER! What use I'll have for this I'm not sure, but I'm dreaming up something to put it on to enjoy for what it is. P.S. The super drydown phase (past 6 hrs) is more dirt less playdoh, but that's a long time to wait methinks. Also yes, it's a commitment to wear!! It WILL be there all day!! And my car still smells of it easily after 4 days having driven w/ the windows down.

The strangest fig ever... On one hand, it is a very unusual way of representing fig by contrasting it with strong patchouli and incense. I have to admit, that it is an interesting solution. And if the perfume was called not Figue, but something else, I would, probably be more excited about it. But I sprayed Calypso Figue today because I was in the mood to smell a fresh and green fig leaf. However, this earthy and heavy smell has nothing to do with the fig the way I imagine it. That's why it is a no-no for me!

Rich, dirty patchouli mixing with a sexy fig, and strong anise note. Reminds me of incense at powwows. Great for a really indie outdoors type.

for me this is the case when it should theoretically work. love fig scents. but for some reason on me it smells weird, no elegance.

Something in this fragrance is off. It smells dusty and musty.

what can I say, my first association when i smelled it was - chalk! it reminded me the time when we had renovation of my grandma's house: the scent of dust, wood and plaster. For some reason I want to sniff my arm when I'm wearing it - it satisfies my ongoing craving for chalk (most likely because I lack calcium lol =) anyway, it is a slightly strange scent, I get lots of earthy patchouli, but one must wait till the dry down, when it gets milder and "coconuty". I'm not sure about this: it is not your conventional sweet fig fragrance, yet it's strangely appealing to me. I can't produce the final verdict)) Edit: this EDT also reminds me the scent of Figue body lotion by Mathias Paris))

I received a sample of this from Parfum1.com.when I ordered Krazy Krizia. Oh mah goodness. I am in love! This is a good dirty patchouli incense combo, which luckily I'm into. And yes I get a little whiff of dry coconut, bonus! I want this baby!

I got it in swap, but did not keep it, very strong strance fig, men scent, strong and needs to be mixed with some other perfume to be ok.

I like fig scents to smell sweet...This was too harsh for my taste.
