Calypso Marine

This is my best AQUATIC! Why? * Because the notes are composed to perfection. Nothing gets too sharp, as often happens with aquatic notes/perfumes. * Because it's a niche perfume, you wont smell it "everywhere". * Very Good lasting power.

I got this perfume when I was quite young. I only bought it because I liked the name! I hated it when I first got it. It was so heavy and earthy. To be fair: I was, like, 14 years old and only liked the sweetest, most sugary scents. I found Calypso Marine again last week - my bottle was undisturbed and pretty much full, tucked away in a cabinet at my grandmother’s. I was curious, so I sprayed a bit on my wrist. I actually quite like it! It’s biting and oceanic and a little ‘spicy’. I can’t discern what spice I’m smelling, exactly, but I’m also bad at pinpointing scents. This perfume is a little herb garden near the sea. Perfectly unisex- intriguing - refreshing - not a showstopper, but definitely worth wearing on a casual day. If you like less-conventional scents and want to smell like a dewy, early-morning garden with seasalt in the air, try this one!

Sampled this frag without knowing that it was for women. Apparently to my nose it could be a mens aquatic as it seems to be very similar to Takada Kenzo's pour homme from the 90's. Not being in to eighter of the fragrances this one is not something for me. It lasts quite long on the skin and projects really good unfortunately I don't like the scent at all. Really feminine and a good all round choice for women I guess. Overall rating: 4/10 - as a women's fragrance / /

Calypso Christiane Celle MARINE is a real oddball fragrance. Although it has an aquatic facet, which smells just like salt water at the seashore, there is also a light woodiness, in addition to a greenness which could I suppose really be seaweed rather than bamboo. I'd call MARINE a unisex, at least, if not more masculine than feminine, but it smells very natural and can be used to transport the wearer to a beach setting--especially in the fall or winter, when the sky is overcast and the smell of the seawater is buoyed by the cool, humid air. In fact, MARINE reminds a bit of Mallorca in December. In contrast to AQUA MOTU, this composition is not too musky, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who likes AQUA MOTU would like MARINE as well. As this creation also reminds me of my vague memory of WOMANITY, which I finally managed to acquire a liquid (not powder) sample of, I'm going to have to review that next...
