Contra For You

**Update 2** I wore this fragrance out today for the first time, and I got a compliment! **Update** This scent has done nothing but improve with time! The notes are even more well blended now, and I myself have been wearing this fragrance regularly! While I do find it to be masculine leaning, the sweet melon and pineapple make it more unisex to me. I've noticed the scent lasts about 6 hours on my skin, but can last days on fabric. I first bought this fragrance for my husband from Marshall's; I was smelling many fragrances, picked up the Contra, smelled it, liked it but put it down and ended up walking to a different part of the store. Every couple of seconds, I kept catching a wiff of the most amazing smell, and at first I just assumed there was a scented candle or someone wearing cologne nearby, but then I realized I had gotten a tiny bit of the Contra on myself, and that was the amazing smell! I went right back to the fragrance section and bought the Contra For You immediately. This is such an amazing scent (with a pressurized sprayer!!) for less than $20, you definitely get the most bang for your buck!

Happened to be wearing Stronger With You Intensely when I walked into my friends room and seen his collection of colognes. He happened to have Contra For You on his shelf, and as I was trying his colognes, I tried CFU and thought I was mistaking the SWYI on my skin, but no, it was CFU. For $15-$20, this is a ridiculously close fragrance to SWYI. The blend lacks a little bit of quality compared to SWYI, and the fragrance comes off a bit more sweet (rather than a bakery style of sweet) compared to SWYI, but its absolutely brilliant for what it is. The cinnamon style notes aren’t as strong and fade off much more quickly than SWYI, however, this makes it a more versatile and all year round sweet unisex (maybe slightly masculine) scent, and less masculine than SWYI. The longevity is poor, with the smell fading from to a skin scent in less than a hour without overspray, however, for $17, you really cannot complain all that much. It’s good cheapie that you would never expect to come out of TJ MAXX.

A nice sweet and spicy, very affordable fragrance. Tried this at a discounter store and got it for $17, was not disappointed. It projects really far early on, then dies down to about 2 arms' lengths for a while, and lasts many many hours. I love the smell - warm, spicy, a bit sweet. However, the polarizing part of it I'm sure, at least for me, is the Bubble-gum aspect that is very noticable. It must be from the combination of Guiac wood, Tonka, Chestnut, Melon, Cinnamon, and Violet that gives this powdery, artificial bubblegum smell that I personally don't like. BUT, despite that, the rest of it really pulls the whole scent together and actually makes for an EXCELLENT layering option. I spray this after first spraying another inexpensive Smoky, woody cologne, making the result much more complex and enjoyable, and reminiscent of other designer colognes with the Woody, smoky, spicy, pineapple combination. This will last far longer than most under $20 perfumes.

This fragrance is either a clone of the original Stronger With You or Stronger With You Intensely. My wife and daughter surprised me with this one a few months back. I believe they bought it from Marshall's for about $15. Wow, what a steal! It's sweet, with vanilla, smoke, pink pepper, maybe some cinnamon. It's a perfect fall and winter fragrance. It definitely punches way above its price point. And it does not smell cheap at all. It's actually a rather addictive fragrance. If you like the Stronger With You DNA, don't be afraid to pick this one up and to save yourself lots of money.

This is very reminiscent of SWY / SWY intensely but def not a 100% similar, but I'd like to attribute that to the added fruits. I remember testing this in perfumania the same day I smelled SWY intensely for the first time, and I actually preferred this one to intensely. It's an amazing fragrance Loud vanilla, lavender, and chestnut paired with the added fruits and good longevity and projection. Not to mention the pressurized atomizer. My only gripe is finding out I could've got it for cheaper at marshals instead of for 60 dollars at perfumania. other than that it's really good.

I actually prefer this over the original it's my daily winter fragrance and also has great layering with other vanilla scents it's an amazing scent and smells like a really warm vanilla that reminds me of being by a fireplace with family where it's intensely snowing, for this being this cheap I'm just surprised but it can be a little headache inducing outside of cold weather and is also a pretty unisex sent so someone might say you smell like the opposite gender when wearing I'd still say that it's blind buty safe though

This fragrance is without a doubt the MOST underrated from my small collection, it’s absolutely amazing. Is insane that is only 15.99, when it performs like a much more expensive one. I put on some in my arms/ shirt to test it at the store while I was shopping around and It lasted around 6-8 hours, in the north Fl. heat! And as I was on my way to the car got two different compliments lol reminds me a lot to the SWY series, so if you like that type of scent, this is for you, straight fire!

Contra For You is a banger. It's got SWY vibes but not a dupe and smells fantastic. Safe blind buy. It's easy to go nose blind with this one and there's something addictive where I just want to keep spraying more to get that great opening again. Very good performing and projects/sillage like a beast if you spray a few extra.

I am surprised by this one. Blindfolded I would not know it was a cheap clone. I am not a fan of vanilla for myself, but this has a slight freshness and warm spice that works well on me. It lasts more than 8 hours and is very good from opening to deep dry down. One of the better fragrances I have.

Smells very high quality and fairly close to SWY Intensely, maybe a tad fresher. Unreal value, projects and lasts very long too. Only downside is the hideous bottle. Even tho it isn’t my favorite DNA 9.5/10.

@Thesnowman00 The silver part of the cap can come loose and fall off, leaving just the brown part underneath. I have the silver part still, but mine often comes off, too. But your bottle is normal!

Not the most unique, but trust me, women go crazy for it. Warm vanilla, a hint of cinnamon, and it sticks around forever. I’d grab another bottle in a heartbeat.

As is the case with the other Contra fragrances in this line (with the same bottle style), this is a great purchase for the price range. The smell is quite comparable to Stronger With You Intensely. The sillage and longevity are impressive. If you like SWY and/or the Azzaro Wanted line, this is a great inexpensive alternative that regularly makes the rounds at T.J. Maxx and Marshal's. It will cost you about $17-- unless you are lucky like me and find them on clearance for $10-13. If you are unfamiliar with the scent profile, Contra for You starts out fresh and "bubblegummy"-- meaning that it has a kind of sweetness like what you have at the top of fragrances like Invictus and ADG Absolu. As the fragrance dries down, the more fresh accords back off to reveal the tonka, vanilla, and chestnut. You are left with something that is essentially a gourmand, but a lighter gourmand. Wearing this, you won't smell like a baked good. You will smell like a sporty man who has spent time in a room with an autumn scented candle. Again, all the Contra fragrances in this bottle style are WELL worth the price in terms of quality and performance. If you find them for under $20, go ahead and make the purchase. The only one I don't own is Pharos Royal Edition, which is a dupe of PDM Pegasus. Pharos is a quality purchase too; I'm just not a fan of the DNA.

Pretty solid clone of Stronger With You Intensely for the money. I paid $15 for it and I'm very happy with the quality. Great performance for the money too. I don't like SWY, not even a little so I have no idea why I bought it. I have the Layton Exclusif one as well (Latin Exclusive) and that one is fantastic for the money too, it smells a lot better than Detour Noir to me even though it only costs about 60% as much. I also have the Contra Intense which is supposedly Givenchy Gentlemen Society Intense and that one's great too, but the Latin is my favorite. DISCLAIMER: These RVL Brands: Camara, Mirada, Monarch, Amaran, Mouj, BPI (it's all the same company, you can tell by the RVL Brands sticker on the bottom of the bottles), they are very hit or miss, but they did a great job with this one. Don't believe all of the review scores because I'm pretty sure they voted up their own scores. Smell them for yourself too, because I have encountered pretty huge variations in some of the batches from one store to another of the same fragrance.

I purchased this last Fall and for $15 I figured if I wore it for 1 Fall & Winter season and then gifted it, I got my moneys worth. From the first leaf falling all the way thru Feb wear this anytime anywhere. It’s warm inviting & enjoyable. Not complicated at all. Vanilla cinnamon tonka bean.. the QUALITY of some notes are indistinguishable. Vanilla is vanilla, cinnamon is cinnamon tonka bean is tonka bean price points don’t smell different when blended. You’ll smell like a very good gourmand candle. I couldn’t believe I was getting all this was giving for $15. Is it PDM or Montale good?, no but it is much more than $15 quality and just goes to show there are a bunch of retailers who are ripping us off. If the folks making Contra (with its pressurized atomizer) can do this and still make money what more can they do putting $50 -$75 IN THE FRAGRANCE and selling for $100

Smells very similar to SWY to me. Performance is strong with this one and you can’t beat the value. Recommended for cold weather exclusively.

A nice surprise. Pecan pie opening, not too overpowering, with a lingering fancy soap kinda finish. A great scent for the price paid.

This is a pretty good inspo of SWY/SWYI, but the best of the line is Contra For Man Intense!

This is impressive. Was at tj max and it was the only thing that stood out. For some reason my cap is different than all the ones im seeing online with a brown round cap instead of a silver straight one, anyone else with the same thing? Anyways, Decently similar to SWY with its own nice twist. Its very cinnamony, thats what stands out to me the most. You could put this in a designer bottle and charge $100 for it. I got it for $18 and it does start a little bit strong but on the dry down its very smooth. What shocked me the most is the pressurized atomizer, I dont even have this on any of my designers, so for $18 it actually took me by surprise. Honestly getting better the more i smell it, very impressed, just in time for fall coming up. Very slept on cheapie definitely get this if you find it there was only one on the shelf for me.

This is a GREAT cheapie. It's sweet and heavy, but also really aromatic and woody, which makes is smell masculine. I never tried Armani Stronger Than You, so I can't compare. Nothing unique here, but who cares? It's a great smooth, complex and pretty elegant frag that costs pennies. It projects strongly and lasts 12 hours. People will think you're wearing a $200 designer fragrance, it's that good. Nothing cheap smelling at all about this one.
