Canali dal 1934

This is setting in my closet for 12 yrs now Wear it a couple of times when I was younger and didn’t find it suitable for my age back then. Very classy, average performance & unique. Update: It has some vintage aventus vibe with a weaker performance... if you replaced the birch from aventus with cedar, then you have it. Surprisingly, this smells way better than aventus despite of its age & weaker performance.

Beautiful fragrance from one of my favorite designer houses. Nothing to do with Aventus.

I have the Dua clone of this and yep, the scent profile is indeed proto-Aventus. The use of pineapple and black currant in the top and overall structure. And the actual smell. It was no doubt on Herault's mind when Olivier Creed gave him the Aventus project. There are a few fragrances released in the immediate years prior to Aventus, created by Pierre Bourdon or Bourdon disciples, that foreshadow the Aventus DNA. In addition to this Dal 1934 created by Bourdon disciple Herault, Bourdon himself created Ferre for Men, which foreshadows Aventus in some, more distant, ways (use of pineapple again). This Canali also has some Ralph Lauren Purple Label vibes, which many people, including myself, believe foreshadowed Aventus in structure when released back in 2003. One thing about both Aventus and Canali dal 1934 is that the fruity accord is supposed to be prominent, but it is not. Evidently Herault doesn't like his fruit notes too prominent. I wish they were. The fruity accord listed top of the accord stack on this page should be lower, and the powdery accord should be higher.

This is really an underrated perfum, doesnt have any recognition for it fragrance. I smell it smokey pepper pinapple and blackcurrent without it being to fruity which is really never seen in any fragrance that I have smelt before.

To suggest that this smells nothing like Aventus, or has nothing to do with Aventus, is clearly laughable. Same perfumer. One year apart. Shares MUCH DNA, as well as specific notes including pineapple and black currant.

For people who don’t know this is the what he build aventus off of and tweak it to make aventus with pierre bourdon. This is technically the real Aventus in a sense.

This smells nothing like Aventus. It's an amazing fragrance, spices, leather, fruits.

I want to try this, mostly cause it looks like its proto-Aventus.
