Carlos Santana for Men

I was not expecting a semi-sweet floral-woody like this is. Carlos Santana by Victory International starts as an Apple-Cinnamon scent, quite subtle after the first few minutes. To me, it's a "night" scent, semi-sweet, intimate and romantic, for getting up close. It comes in a Cologne Spray strength. The Apple-Cinnamon is joined by Vanilla and merges with a light Benzoin note coming from the base. What gives the scent a little more depth is the Lavender. It is a fresh, still green, Lavender smell, not an over-emphasized perfume version, it smells like the fresh flowers. The lavender holds on for over an hour and is the best part. I only smell a very light Bergamot in the opening, it's not a citrus scent. Sandalwood and Tonka Bean come up from the base while the Lavender is in focus, and take over as the Lavender fades. During the dry down there is a woody Patchouli-Cedar accord that joins the Sandal-Tonka and sees the scent through to the end. I need to apply a generous amount to be able to smell it. It goes on oily (skin is shiny even if I rub it in) and it lasts at least 4 hours on me. I really like the Carlos Santana fragrance, but it would be so much nicer in a stronger form, an EDP would be best. I enjoy it, it has become my favorite Lavender scent. Good for close contact, not so much for parties or bars. You will not get noticed in this one, but you will probably like it. A safe, quality, low-key scent.

Usually i dont wear sweet fragrances but carlos santana for men is a nice edc, well blended and not in-your-face. Yes it's sweet but vey balanced, it has a pleasant apple-cinnamon combo, u can also detect tonka beans, vanilla, cedar and maybe a soft leathery undertone. It's not the sweetness of a teenage cologne, it's something more mature but not old style, u can easily get compliments. It's for a man over 25, a romantic and seductive guy, full of charm and confidence. Luckly it's not a pushy scent if u do not overspray so u can use it in late summer evenings or autumn. Carlos Santana is a master piece. It reminds me Diesel Fuel For Life Homme. By Purchasing this colonge , 10% of the Santana"s profits will be donated to the Milagro Foundation(Charitable public foundation established in 1998 by Deborah & Carlos Santana,the organizations that work with children around the World in the areas of arts,education & health). Iam proud by owning this colonge. The smell really rocks like Santan maria oh mariya... It projects dam good for 3 hrs. Stays up to 4 hrs,then gets close to skin, But first 2 hrs will do the magic, i got many compliments. I Love this Colonge. My rating 10/10. It should have been EDP or EDT. One must buy this. I agree with @BLKHWK 1,000% this Fragrance was way ahead of its time. Almost reminds me of something like a spicier LNDH or Pure XS or anything else along those lines. Had this been released today , the community would go bananas over it. Even the quality is incredible , I have my original bottle from 2006 still about 80-85% full and this thing still pumps 5+ hrs later. Given it’s almost 20yrs old , it opens with an alcohol blast but then the spices settles and it really opens up. If you’re a collector or want something exclusive, I suggest grabbing at least some samples from eBay— you won’t regret it.

It's great to see that this fragrance is still available and selling for over $400. Way ahead of its time, I think it's the inspiration for many Designer fragrances today and setting up an era of fragrances following its sweet, fruity, amberish cast. I think too, it is an acknowledgment of the Artist. Known mostly for his guitar play, then his music, this fragrance invites us to recognize him as an evolved and sage human being. His leadership invites us all to reconsider what it means to be human and that life can be lived as an art. And that being Human is a highly nuanced sensory experience.

A gourmand for men! Opens with spicy cinnamon which led me to wonder why its being compared to apple pie. My curiosity was satisfied when notes of apple and vanilla began to mingle with the cinnamon giving the noted impression of apple pie! This fragrance differs greatly from other celebrity fragrances in that it doesn't smell cheap and has great sillage and longevity.

This is one of my all time favorites. For me, it's the best combination of subtle and sophisticated yet manly and mysterious. I can definetly smell the apple, cinnamon, leather, and vanilla. It reminds me of a warm evening in spain. I take this fragrance with me wherever I go. 10/10

I demolished 2 consecutive bottles of this 20 years ago. When I came back for a 3rd it was gone, never to return. Goodness, I do miss this frag. It foresaw the creamy spiced tobacco wave that became so popular and it executed it beautifully.

carlos santana has a great drydown and the sandalwood, lavender and woodsy spicy notes and vanilla make this a flawless romantic scent that most best sellers dont even come close to smelling like

A great surprise, a very interesting composition, that is sweet and at the same time cozy (not overpowering). It's an EDC that works like EDT. Great buy.

This is a very nice fragrance from start to finish,I think anyone who gives this a try will be surprised how good it smells a definite sleeper.

The smell of this cologne makes me wanna do very bad, bad things. If you know what I mean. WINK! WINK! It smells amazing.

its Fahrenheit meets cinnamon/allspice 8.0/1O its very unique and cherish-able....and not easy to locate on the cheap

as a summer evening .... a great perfume

I own this for several years now and it always emerges around late summer early fall time when the weather is still warm yet not hot. This has a delicate aroma which makes it a addictive indeed. Overall you would think its to sweet and cinnamon like but there is a spicy dept to it which keeps the structure from being a candy fragrance. It has a nice appeal for mostly outdoor occasions. Like it!!

i get it today. it deserves all tributes there is people wrote here. it has power.especially 80's power but it does not bother my nose seperators. after 20 mins. it settles down and close to skin.very classy for true man.. 10/7

As gourmand (food) scents go, it's not bad upon a first spraying. It has cinnamon-apple notes with a hint of cocoa. But what kills the deal for me is that, after about an hour, as it wears down it begins to smell cheap and common.

A blind buy for me. I generally liked the idea of what it was going for but I detected "that synthetic smell" like Joop! but not as bad (skin chemistry?) Unable to wear this.

Definitely one of the better celebrity fragrances. I've had my bottle of Carlos Santana for Men for over five years now (since my sophomore year of high school!), and while at one point I got kind of sick of it and was about to sell it, I came to my senses and kept the stuff. I should give forewarning - perhaps there will be a bit of bias on my part, since I've been a fan of Santana ever since I was little when my dad played their music from me. Santana's first three albums from the Woodstock era are bona fide rock classics, with the second one, Abraxas, being one of my all-time favorite albums, ever. Carlos's guitar tone is distinctive and beautiful, and much of his music is, unflinchingly, a part of my soul. That being said, when I first smelled this a long time ago, I wasn't sure what to think, but I hoped it would be good! Well, it is. Carlos Santana for Men is a wonderful sweet/spicy fragrance. It is somewhat similar to Spirit for Men by Antonio Banderas, yes, but Spirit has a different character that's quite hard to replicate. There are also comparisons of Carlos Santana for Men to One Million by Paco Rabanne, but, if anything, One Million smells like this (note the release date). Yes, I can smell a slight similarity, but One Million has a MUCH stronger cinnamon note, and overall is much sweeter, stronger, and more cloying. Carlos Santana is a lot smoother and well-blended. This stuff is definitely strong and long-lasting - apple, cinnamon, leather, and amber all the way. You'd think that would be cloying, or at least reminiscent of apple pie, but to me, it's not. It's more like a "fun", hot and spicy fragrance that works AMAZING in cold weather, especially around the holidays! Now, that's not to say that you'll smell like Christmas if you wear this, I only find it appropriate for that time of year, just as I do with Michael Kors for Men and John Varvatos Vintage. Overall, Carlos Santana for Men basically smells like what it looks like. It's rich, sweet, spicy, and comforting. Strong, long lasting, and very well done for being so affordable. I'd avoid wearing it in warm weather, as I fear it would be far too cloying and nauseating in the heat, but when the weather gets cooler it's a real treat to wear. Go on, don't be afraid to try it!

I got very curious about this one after reading the reviews here and decided to blind-buy it online. The composition sounded right up my alley. I got it just today, and I'm disappointed in it. For starters, the bottle is -IMO- very ugly. The cap fits so tight that makes it difficult to remove. The atomizer is one of the worst I've tried. Then, there's the fragrance itself. I can smell that apple/cinammon mix everyone mentions, but I think it's highly synthetic. After 10 minutes, it dries down to a woody semi-sweet VERY CLOSE to the skin fragrance. Kinda nice. Longevity is very poor (2-3 hours tops). However, I find it quite strange that after the first few hours, I have asked some of my friends if they can smell it (really close to me, of course) and they say they do, and that it smells kinda woody, yet I can't smell it at all. Like, literally, I smell NOTHING. I love fragrances with great sillage and this one is definitely NOT one of those. Good thing it was very cheap (14 US$ for a 100ml bottle). I don't see myself reaching for this too often, and I'm definitely not buying it again once I finish this bottle. As a matter of fact, I might end up giving it away.

It's nice but not worth the $150 to $200 sellers are trying to get for this... not even close worth that! It's a discontinued fragrance and that is the only reason why you see this so highly priced. There are hundreds of better options are much less. As for the scent, it's nothing special... lots of cinnamon, smoke, wood. Nice but not worth more than its original price of $38 TIP: Spirit For Men by Antonio Banderas is very similar and only costs about $25. The main difference is Spirit is more masculine and warmer while Santana is more playful and sweet. Both have more of a light sillage with below average longevity. I like wearing these fragrances taking my wife out to Spanish restaurants and I received a number of compliments. If I didn't have two left feet, I'd take up Salsa dancing and be rocking both Banderas and Santana. Hola Despacito!

i am a lady and i bought it thinking its for women it s smells so amazing like the good old perfumes full of amber sandalwood musk tanoka beans everything you need in a master piece its so woody warm spicy edgy mandarins and seductive..it mellows down and stays close to the skin its an oriental with a Spanish hint ..something in it i just cant stop smelling its addictive very pleasant sweet but not sickeningly so ... dont be fooled by the unattractive cheapish bottle the juice is a different story its amazing ..let it dry down warm up in your skin...then decide.. perfume rating 3.7 out of 5 bottle rating 1 .2 out of 5

This is one of the only celebrity fragrances I will ever vouch for. I can see how its popularity has picked up over the years. I got it almost ten years ago for about $12 (not kidding) sadly the bottle met its demise on the floor of a locker room. Have not smelled it since that day but now that I see it again I am finding myself trying to remember how sweet it was. I remember notes but i may need to find it again to give it another go. It does smell like 1 million - albeit a very synthetic 1 million. I've learned from karthiktas' review that 10% of the sales would go to charity - well. why not just send the whole fragrance's amount to charity? Sorry, Santana, you are quite a guitarist and I am one of your many asdmirers, but, I'd say your scents don't come even close to , say, Antonio Banderas" scents...

Smells nothing like 1 Million. There seems to be a plague going on where people like to sputter out a fragrance smelling like 1 Million because it has sweet and spicy elements. Smells nothing like 1 Million, nor does Spicebomb, nor does CK One Shock, nor does Mandarina Duck Pure Black.

One Million? Seriously? It seems all sweet fragrances are similar to One Million, which I completely disagree. Its apple/cinnamon combination that doesn't last long reminded me of Joop! Thrill. A nice cost/benefit relation here for an eau de cologne.

This is the best celebrity scent, hands down. This stuff outs- Really has better notes! it's......so fresh and it's a good kind of aromatic woodsy scent. It's got some spices and it's very masculine!

Great notes composition.But in reality- it's impossible to blend in all these notes for such a cheap price.Result- synthetic opening with simple woody dry-down.

smooth. The aqual note adds character. I enjoy the cinnamon and apple.

Good Cost/Benefit. Reminds yes 1million, but not as much as some say.
