DIRTY ENGLISH BY JUICY COUTURE ENGLISH OUD Fantastic fragrance even if it's quite synthetic. It reminds me a bit of the discontinued original Gucci Pour Homme from 2003. It has a slightly above-average performance and gives you a divine leather/wood experience with a twist of oud. You feel like having just parked your Harley before spraying this dirty juice. It is a bit dark just the way I like it. The blending seems to be somewhat complex and a balsamic camphoraceous and resinous accord is also to be noted. It's a fragrance that I like to wear. I layered it with a vanilla scent for some added sweetness and the result was awesome as well. A clear suggestion for Juicy Couture to make a Dirty Oud Leather Vanilla Englishman. This is a classy and sophisticated scent. Not for people just getting into fragrances, It takes elements from older fragrances similar to a generic "pour homme" fragrance like Azzaro released and adds some woodiness, this sweet and sour booziness which explains the bottle. There are warm spices and a faint bit of leather There is a rich fullness to it. It's some warm spiciness to it. I found this scent to be addictive. You just smell wealthy wearing this. It doesn't project enough to fill up a room unless you probably bathed in this with 10 or more sprays. I appreciate the modern touches to this, it doesn't seem out dated. From time to time I even get a bit of Dior Fahrenheit out of this as crazy as it sounds. It's an easy to wear scent. I usually wear this if I got a few quick things to do, this would be a great office fragrance, something to wear at an expensive dinner or drinks at a local bar. I could easily wear this all year except for the very hot days. The way they are marketing this scent seems a bit off as if this is a scent for risk takers and that sort of thing. I wish they found a better name for this fragrance. is it blind buy worthy? If you go in expecting a classy for him fragrance for someone 30+ you'll like this. If this performed better, or Juicy Couture knew who to bribe this would be a classic. This is a modern wearable version of Bentley For Men Intense. Don't bother with Absolute, this is actually wearable. I'll pick Dirty English over, Azzaro Pour Homme, Jovan Musk and drakkar intense.

What makes it dirty is the clash... You know, when you mix two scents that just don't quite meld together? That kind of clash. In a good way. Citrus and cedar on one side, oud, moss, and leather on the other. Usually scent clashing is a bad thing, but in this case, it's dirty, yet clean. I get what they were going for, and I think the name is fitting. The citrus and other woods keep this from being too dirty and dusty of an oud, which I really appreciate. There are some ouds out there that I just can't take, but this smells like a humid attic - in a VERY good way! Paired with a nice fitting pair of jeans, a leather jacket, and a little bit of confidence, this scent really works. This also works well as a daytime scent after wearing a stronger oud scent the night before. Update: After trying a bottle of the older stuff, I actually find the newer formula to be slightly stronger than the older formula. Also, I'm allergic to the old natural oak moss, so the new formula is perfectly fitting for me. I did keep the metal cap and charms from the old bottle, though. The metal cap is much nicer! For the record, the Cypress and Cedar were stronger in the old version, along with the Oakmoss. If you're buying this (newer version), expect the Cypress and Cedar to be lower on the totem pole of ingredients, and the Mandarin, Ebony, and Musk to be a bit higher. In my opinion though, the newer version lasts longer than the older version, however it is lighter smelling.

Well, well, well. I ordered a back-up bottle of the original formulation (metal cap, leather strap, metal charms) with a photo of same and instead received a new bottle with plastic cap, no leather strap and no metal charms. Darn it all. I'll be returning it to the fleabay seller at his expense. But in the meantime I did sample spray from the bottle and I'm not altogether displeased. It's not what I wanted and it's definitely a different fragrance (less leather, less spice, much less sillage & longevity) BUT... if you haven't experienced & fallen in love with the divine original... it's not bad. Consider it similar to the difference among fresh peas, frozen peas and canned peas. Each is different but none is unpleasant. The new formulation is lighter and has less of the gorgeous dark leather of the original but it has a FLORAL aspect that simply does not exist in the original. In fact, I rather like it and I'd keep the bottle if I wasn't searching for a back-up of the original. The new formulation just might be perfect for the wo(man) who didn't care for the image the original evoked of the Harley Davidson owner/rider who'd been on a multi-day hot weather road trip and hadn't showered for a couple of days. This new version suggests that the motorcyclist did, in fact, stop for a shower and even used a little powder before getting dressed in clean clothes. Not like the original but not bad at all.

I really loved this, but the new bottles smell so much waterier and broken down now. Reminds me of the water left over after you've boiled smoked sausages. Or you added so much water to a great bourbon that you don't like all of the separate parts you now taste so much as you did the whole. With the 'metal cap' version before, though, this smelled like dirty, boozy pencil shavings. It had a base of cedar, surrounded by sweet oranges, whiskey, and dirty oud. I would've gladly paid retail if they'd kept it around, though its price at Marshall's probably helped it gain popularity. Wearing the original into the dry down 24 hours later, it's very different, but the base is still there and is heavenly. It smells like sweet, creamy sandalwood and leather, similar to the dry down of Vera Wang for Men, though these fragrances are very different otherwise. Also, I used to think "macerating" a fragrance was just something people made up. But having gone through most of the 1.7 oz original bottle and compared it to the previously unused 3.4 oz bottle that came in the same gift set, the 1.7 oz version is stronger, more concentrated, and just smells better. So maybe spraying the new bottles consistently and allowing them to age a bit may make them better? I really loved this stuff. Can be worn year-round, even in summer, but at night.
