DIRTY ENGLISH BY JUICY COUTURE ENGLISH OUD Fantastic fragrance even if it's quite synthetic. It reminds me a bit of the discontinued original Gucci Pour Homme from 2003. It has a slightly above-average performance and gives you a divine leather/wood experience with a twist of oud. You feel like having just parked your Harley before spraying this dirty juice. It is a bit dark just the way I like it. The blending seems to be somewhat complex and a balsamic camphoraceous and resinous accord is also to be noted. It's a fragrance that I like to wear. I layered it with a vanilla scent for some added sweetness and the result was awesome as well. A clear suggestion for Juicy Couture to make a Dirty Oud Leather Vanilla Englishman. This is a classy and sophisticated scent. Not for people just getting into fragrances, It takes elements from older fragrances similar to a generic "pour homme" fragrance like Azzaro released and adds some woodiness, this sweet and sour booziness which explains the bottle. There are warm spices and a faint bit of leather There is a rich fullness to it. It's some warm spiciness to it. I found this scent to be addictive. You just smell wealthy wearing this. It doesn't project enough to fill up a room unless you probably bathed in this with 10 or more sprays. I appreciate the modern touches to this, it doesn't seem out dated. From time to time I even get a bit of Dior Fahrenheit out of this as crazy as it sounds. It's an easy to wear scent. I usually wear this if I got a few quick things to do, this would be a great office fragrance, something to wear at an expensive dinner or drinks at a local bar. I could easily wear this all year except for the very hot days. The way they are marketing this scent seems a bit off as if this is a scent for risk takers and that sort of thing. I wish they found a better name for this fragrance. is it blind buy worthy? If you go in expecting a classy for him fragrance for someone 30+ you'll like this. If this performed better, or Juicy Couture knew who to bribe this would be a classic. This is a modern wearable version of Bentley For Men Intense. Don't bother with Absolute, this is actually wearable. I'll pick Dirty English over, Azzaro Pour Homme, Jovan Musk and drakkar intense.

What makes it dirty is the clash... You know, when you mix two scents that just don't quite meld together? That kind of clash. In a good way. Citrus and cedar on one side, oud, moss, and leather on the other. Usually scent clashing is a bad thing, but in this case, it's dirty, yet clean. I get what they were going for, and I think the name is fitting. The citrus and other woods keep this from being too dirty and dusty of an oud, which I really appreciate. There are some ouds out there that I just can't take, but this smells like a humid attic - in a VERY good way! Paired with a nice fitting pair of jeans, a leather jacket, and a little bit of confidence, this scent really works. This also works well as a daytime scent after wearing a stronger oud scent the night before. Update: After trying a bottle of the older stuff, I actually find the newer formula to be slightly stronger than the older formula. Also, I'm allergic to the old natural oak moss, so the new formula is perfectly fitting for me. I did keep the metal cap and charms from the old bottle, though. The metal cap is much nicer! For the record, the Cypress and Cedar were stronger in the old version, along with the Oakmoss. If you're buying this (newer version), expect the Cypress and Cedar to be lower on the totem pole of ingredients, and the Mandarin, Ebony, and Musk to be a bit higher. In my opinion though, the newer version lasts longer than the older version, however it is lighter smelling.

Well, well, well. I ordered a back-up bottle of the original formulation (metal cap, leather strap, metal charms) with a photo of same and instead received a new bottle with plastic cap, no leather strap and no metal charms. Darn it all. I'll be returning it to the fleabay seller at his expense. But in the meantime I did sample spray from the bottle and I'm not altogether displeased. It's not what I wanted and it's definitely a different fragrance (less leather, less spice, much less sillage & longevity) BUT... if you haven't experienced & fallen in love with the divine original... it's not bad. Consider it similar to the difference among fresh peas, frozen peas and canned peas. Each is different but none is unpleasant. The new formulation is lighter and has less of the gorgeous dark leather of the original but it has a FLORAL aspect that simply does not exist in the original. In fact, I rather like it and I'd keep the bottle if I wasn't searching for a back-up of the original. The new formulation just might be perfect for the wo(man) who didn't care for the image the original evoked of the Harley Davidson owner/rider who'd been on a multi-day hot weather road trip and hadn't showered for a couple of days. This new version suggests that the motorcyclist did, in fact, stop for a shower and even used a little powder before getting dressed in clean clothes. Not like the original but not bad at all.

I really loved this, but the new bottles smell so much waterier and broken down now. Reminds me of the water left over after you've boiled smoked sausages. Or you added so much water to a great bourbon that you don't like all of the separate parts you now taste so much as you did the whole. With the 'metal cap' version before, though, this smelled like dirty, boozy pencil shavings. It had a base of cedar, surrounded by sweet oranges, whiskey, and dirty oud. I would've gladly paid retail if they'd kept it around, though its price at Marshall's probably helped it gain popularity. Wearing the original into the dry down 24 hours later, it's very different, but the base is still there and is heavenly. It smells like sweet, creamy sandalwood and leather, similar to the dry down of Vera Wang for Men, though these fragrances are very different otherwise. Also, I used to think "macerating" a fragrance was just something people made up. But having gone through most of the 1.7 oz original bottle and compared it to the previously unused 3.4 oz bottle that came in the same gift set, the 1.7 oz version is stronger, more concentrated, and just smells better. So maybe spraying the new bottles consistently and allowing them to age a bit may make them better? I really loved this stuff. Can be worn year-round, even in summer, but at night.

EA Reformulation rumors are NOT true. I was getting to the bottom of my original bottle of DE. And noted at Marshall's a 3.4 oz bottle for $19.99. Purchased it. Tested on both wrists. EXACT same juice. Enough with these Reformulation rumors. A corporate buyout doesn't automatically mean Reformulation with cheaper ingredients. And sometimes a Reformulation while different is better. "Modernized." In any case, it's the same juice. These rumors spread like wild fire through basenotes, etc. because one person says "oh yeah I bought it and it's crap now." People start saying "oh yeah I heard its crap, only find the original discontinued version for the real thing." Totally bogus. I love this fragrance, and being able to get it for $20 is a steal, Hey if you avoid it because you think it's crap now, and "Reformulated"....great! Believe the rumors, because it leaves more for me on the store shelves. Great frag for the money. Wife loves it on me. One of my most complimented fragrances, and I own a lot. it's Colin Farrell, Sean Connery, Daniel Craig all rolled into one suave, bad boy frag. Leather, woods, tobacco, boozy, Amber goodness...enjoy...if you chose not to believe the misinformation.

There's something hilarious about this. In a good way. It literally makes me laugh. Joyfully It's not a strong performer and it's softness makes it seem weaker than it is, so you overspray until you finally smell it on yourself...or at least I do. Then it finally starts to build on you It remains soft, even office safe, but it's genuinely adult and masculine. Nothing shower gel about it. Classic, yet contemporary masculinity without the over-compensating vibes of a lot of majors that can otherwise say the same. It shares almost nothing in common with Old Spice, but it reminds me of the Old Spice of my childhood. The musk does a lot of heavy lifting here, rounding woods out with a sweetness and blooming the scarce diversity of spice (just caraway and cardamom) to bloom with the amber, into a concoction that is much more full-bodied and rich in terms of their spicy facets. The orange adds the perfect something extra here, not dissimilar to Old Spice, as I said, or a cinnamon bun with orange glaze. A fragrance you might not want to love, but you kind of do. Really damn nice. Would also layer great with a cheap tobacco scent, like any number of Cuba Paris frags.

Claude Dir is a very competent nose, and is behind some very successful perfumes in terms of sales or exquisite fragrances for niche perfumers. With Dirty English he did a very good job as well. The opening is a woody affair. For all it's listed notes, we get a dusty peppered mandarin, blue cypress, calabrian bergamot, cumin and cardamom. As we reach the middle, a woodsy leather note is revealed. The heart brings marjoram and black leather accords accompanied with sandalwood, Atlas cedar and vétiver root which create a continuous bold scent bonding in perfection the top and base notes. A woodsy combo ends the accord. It's a peculiar type of woodiness. You have the harshness of ebony and black moss emphasized with oud and musk. The combination is a real head turner. This fragrance is devoted to irresistibly charm the air around men between 30 and 60 years old (I am 57) using jeans, leather jackets, cotton shirts and stylish moccasins. A younger Al Pacino and an actual George Cloney would wear this perfume. Only the juicy feminine family to which DE belongs leaves this sexy men fragrance a bit forgotten between so many sisters. GREAT FRAGRANCE !!!!

This came out when I was around 16, and I remember being absolutely floored by it. My high school smelled like a mix of your generic aquatic and fresh scents meant for teen boys, and when I found out that guys could smell like this? Well honestly, I liked it so much I bought a bottle for myself when I started college. I still have a bottle to this day and I still love it. In today’s market it’s not as unique as it used to be, but it still holds up. My bottle is a little older so I can’t speak to the supposedly less strong current formulation, but this is a woody-leather dream with a hint of orange that make it reminiscent of Hermes Eau des Merveilles. (Not a dupe by any means, just a cousin.) While this is definitely more traditionally masculine in nature, it still has all the comforts of a cozy unisex scent. Probably not for someone who goes for more traditionally feminine, floral scents - but hey, it’s what turned me on to wearing mens/unisex scents, so who knows? It’s also remarkably affordable - my bottle was $20 at the time and you can still find it for cheap. So if you’re on the fence about trying it, I’d say give it a whirl!

If all men's naughty bits were to smell like this the world would be a better place. This could give a gal some serious lady-wood. Be shy if you must, but I'll bet there are many women (and quite a few men) here who agree with me. Dirty English is truly magnificent. It‘s that “sex in a bottle“ we often speak of, a spicy, woody, smoky, boozy, leather wonder that lasts 6-8 hours and reappears and "reblooms" with perspiration. I think if this had a Tom Ford label instead of Juicy Couture it would get more notice, but then a person would have to pay $150 more for a bottle. And honestly, how many fragrances with oud are available at under $20 an ounce? An incredible bargain. As fully “manly-man masculine” as this is I find I can wear it myself in autumn’s cool weather and winter’s cold if I restrict application to just one spray down my blouse and another on the back of my neck under my (long) hair. Goes as well with high heels and wool as it does with boots and leather and makes me feel confident, powerful and equal to any difficult task or situation I need to conquer.

I love this one ❤️ I own a bottle since 2018 and bought a 50 ml back up bottle, the one with that charm. A light fresh spicy masculine scent with a bit of booze as well as sweetness. The Oud note here seems timid, but it’s in the background like a friendly ghost. I find this easy to wear. Simply gorgeous and addicting to my nose. I wear this at home on rotation with others for the most part. I personally enjoyed reapplying once in awhile because of its aroma so I didn’t really noticed the longevity issue. This is one of the best in my gem collection that I didn’t even know it was being compared to Gucci Pour Homme which I haven’t put my nose on yet, ever. If this one is good, GPH1 must be a very beautiful frag. I’ll give this little guy a 9.5/ 10 Try before you buy 👍😉 “Let's spread the scents of peace and kindness. A night-shift Amazon co-worker recently complimented me on my fragrance (that happened to be a caramel gourmand) and I offered to make a decant for her. She thanked me but said she wasn't interested for herself but for her fiancée. "I like her to smell girly but not so much for me." Thinking of a recent forum topic I said I thought I understood her conundrum, "You don't want to smell girly-girly but you don't want to smell like your father's after shave, right?" "YES!", she said, smiling, as if she was surprised that an older co-worker actually understood. So I made her a decant of Dirty English and brought it to work the next night. "PERFECT", said Heather. "I really like it and so does Haley! Thanks so much!" Thus reinforcing my belief that Dirty English is most definitely a unisex fragrance. Mostly leather with lots of spice, I think it's appropriate on men year round and best on female skin in cold weather.

Oh YUM!!! I love it! I love the cardamom and leather and cedar notes. A blind buy I was hoping to mix with sweeter perfumes for an occasional edge and darkening, which it does beautifully. Bonus is an increase in longevity of the woody notes when it’s mixed, because as others have noted, on its own this does not last or project. I would wear this straight up if it remained more than 30 minutes as I think it’s pretty unisex. If it were a movie, it would be Almost Famous or 20 Feet from Stardom. It’s such a shame and so very disappointing. Don’t hate me - it smells heavenly on my fluffy little dog after a bath, and it stays in her fur for days. It’s one way to be able to enjoy it for a long time. How sad is that, Juicy Couture!! I know you can do better!

Good news for all lovers of this perfume. It seems that it has been put back into production. For now you can find it on the manufacturer's website. The scent is very cool. The smell of leather and oud give it that "dirty" shade, but immediately comes the cedar and sandalwood that sweetens the composition well. 100% masculine, bold, quite elegant, mature, good for the cold periods of the year. For me it is the most pleasant designer perfume based on oud. His misfortune, as well as that of the M7-YSL, Guci pour homme 1, is that the oud note at that time was not popular at all, on the contrary, it was detested. I mention the fact that the review is made in the reformulated version, the one with plastic cover.

I remember seeing the advertising for this long before I bought it and loved the fragrance, even on the paper magazine inserts. I bought my bottle somewhere around 2011-2013 and it is still my favorite men's fragrance in my collection (and yes, I wear it myself). Despite the other notes, I mainly get "woodsy" and vetiver from this. The citrus notes on the opening are really subtle, if they're even there at all; it quickly progresses to the heart notes and stays there. I like that it doesn't have that generic men's designer cologne bergamot-aftershave vibe. It's a little rough around the edges, at home in a biker bar but works at a country club, too. Not overpowering. Props for bottle design, too.

The opening is woodsy and manly and leaves me wanting to LOVE this scent. The scent is a great soapy, woody smell. However, the lack of longevity docks some points with me. I have to put 10+ sprays to get any sillage whatsoever. This bottle was a blind buy based on reviews, and I'm not displeased with the fragrance itself, but I am totally and completely unenamored by the sillage and longevity. The versatility could have been sensational... My lady is mute on this one. I like this quite a bit for a woody frag so it will be a repeat buy.

This is definitely an uncommon reformulation, as it is not very similar to the original at all. I used to have the first formulation with the charm thing on the bottle and it was oudy with cypress and some leather, and it was nice and brash, but this re-do does have similarities with Montale Greyland, however decidedly flatter. I saw the smell alikes section here and was absolutely confused by that reference as the original was nothing like Greyland, but just got a reform bottle and it is surprisingly close, but also laking performance or depth of the Montale. Admittedly, not exactly thrilled as I was looking for the original and I already have Greyland which is superior to this anyway.

Cedar, leather, moss, cardamom, amber, musk, mandarin, and a bit of oud. All well-balanced and beautifully blended. Woody, dark, lightweight, boozy, slightly sweet, very slightly salty, herbal, slightly nutty, slightly dirty (in a good way), smooth, and quality. Slightly below average sillage and longevity. Office scent, mature (mid 30s), dark academia, hyper-masculine, and unique. Woah, I'm actually really surprised by this scent. It's sophisticated and easily likable. It smells like a sexy and older librarian man who spends his nights archiving the historical literature of a royal family with a bit of a drinking problem......whose casual talk comes off as flirty and playful.

I have no idea which bottle (formulation) this tester belongs to, but who cares, I am going to get a bottle for sure. This is so pleasing, from opening to drydown, this is good! It may sound weird but JC Dirty English reminds me of Gucci PH layered with just tiny bit of Azzaro Visit and finished by a touch of leathery scent. There is absolutely nothing "dirty". I get wood dominant scent rounded by leather, the wood I get is not your regular harsh Oud, but more like Cedar and Sandalwood and it's musky (a bit tobacco there too?). The scent is a bit synthetic, but then again who cares. This stuff smells very good compared to its price! Gives a bad boy vibe all over.
