Burning Rose

Gorgeous deep, dark, sultry, sensuous, spicy, womanly rose. Rich bulgarian rose damascena here brought out to full blooming glory nestled cozily in a plush bed of fiery hot cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger. The patchouli is exquisitely beautiful here; warm, earthy, herby, dense, deep, chewy, minty, menthol-like, and thick, but amazingly and wonderfully clean like a fresh growing patchouli plant; no moldy cheap disgusting stale dying plant graveyard dirt odors here. This is maddeningly fabulous to me on my skin! Smoother and far more silky feminine than Amorem Rose. More effervescent than Rose D'Isparta. Cleaner and more transparently constructed than the other two. Much more sweet and chewy than Amorem Rose owing to the exquisitely deft handling of the Indonesian Patchouli here in tandem with the Myrrh in the base; less dry, a little moist and touchable, but not at all cloying or sticky with an absolutely fabulous soft/smokey resinous drydown. Less sweet than the Rose D'Isparta but fresher in character with the cinnamon/ginger melding much more seamlessly with the rose element than the saffron/rose combo of the other two. The rose note itself is richer and sweeter here. This one is much more........languid and relaxed in feeling. This one melts into the skin and feels like it seduces the nose inwards rather than radiating outwards in spicy aggression like the other two. All three are very dark spicy roses, but this one is definitely the most Yin in character. Amorem Rose is definitely more Yang to me. The Rose D'Isparta falling in between the two. I definitely prefer this one on my skin. I absolutely adore this one. Edit: The bottle really is magnificent, weighty and substantial. The magnetic cap is wonderful too.

Dark, mysterious, sensual and captivating! Burning rose is yet another stellar offering from the CH confidential line and it was a very easy love for me which is saying something since I don't get along with most dark rose centric fragrances. Imagine burning a full beautiful red rose that has been lightly dusted with powdered sugar and some spices. In a few moments, the fire has gone out but rose continues to burn slowly, with glowing ember-y remnants of the fire slowly consuming the petals and caramelizing the sugar, producing the most gorgeous spiced, smoky rose scent. To put it simply, it is a sweet (but not syrupy or jammy) rose but also dark, spiced rose enveloped in a subtle incense-y smokiness. The smoke is not overwhelming as it is in Commodity Velvet, as another reviewer noted, and the rose is not a quite as sweet (but it does get sweeter with wear). Patchouli lends a hint of earthiness to the composition but nothing too loud or obnoxious and serves mainly to ground all the other notes which are superbly blended. No one note is fighting for the spotlight and the end result is my perfect dark rose scent! I thought Elie Saab Essence rose was going to be the one (but it was a disappointment) but Burning Rose is everything I wanted from this scent profile. This leans slightly more feminine in my opinion and the performance is great as is with most fragrances from this line which can, it seems, no do wrong to my nose. Highly recommend getting your nose on this especially, if you love rose in fragrances.

This is one of my favourite dark rose perfumes. It reminds me a lot of MFK Oud Satin Mood, but yet is quite distinct from it too. It has the same enveloping deep red rose and I get oud too even though it isn’t listed. This is probably the wood. However this is paired with a sweet spicy accord, in which the cinnamon is prominent. Rose cinnamon is a great combination, and reminds me a bit of the favours of cinnamon chewing gum that I loved as a child and rose flavoured chocolate (from the rose patchouli combo). Yum. Whilst this is not really a gourmand perfume, there are some foody notes in this oriental. The spicy and sweet notes combine to prevent the perfume from becoming cloying or overbearing. After a few hours the spiciness settles and a smokey note drifts in. I am very glad to say this is not a tobacco note but more like the faint smell of a distant fire. The rose persists until the drydown (about 6 hours) and the perfume settles to become a warm, slightly balsamic and smokey Rose fragrance that lingers on for a few more hours. This is fairly unisex. Sillage moderate. More suited to evening. I wore it in sumner but better for winter.

This is my favorite rose perfume that I have ever smelled. I love rose in perfume, but Burning Rose is everything I have ever wanted from any dark rose perfume I smell. Burning, yes, but not too smoky so it goes sour like in Commodity Velvet. Spicy with cinnamon, yes, but not so spicy you smell like pie, like in Coco. Sweet, dusky, mysterious, captivating, ROSE. It's not too medicinal, too woody, too sugary, too metallic, it's just the perfect balance of deep dark rose that no other perfume achieves. Patchouli is here but this is not a patchouli-rose traditional combo. Turns a little musky and ambery on my skin, the dry down is different from the opening, and becomes something I can't describe, but I just love it. The scent is so me, from top to bottom. It wears so comfortably, never overbearing. My husband bought me a mini some years ago, and I am planning to buy a full bottle when I feel I can justify the price tag. This is a must buy for me, though. I don't think I will ever smell a rose perfume that I like more than this one. Perfection.

Burning Rose is very feminine and gorgeous. This fragrance is along the lines with Lancome Oud Bouquet, Oud Satin Mood, Kayali Sweet Diamond, Nina Ricci L'Extase Rose Absolue and etc, just to give an idea what direction this fragrance is going. It definitely has its own uniqueness and Herrera DNA. Sweet slightly Oudy, spiced and a little powdery rose. Spices are not strong, it wont make you sneeze or anything, its very well blended. Fall/Winter kind of a fragrance. If you like the fragrances I mentioned above, you most likely will like Burning Rose too. I would say this one is the most feminine leaning from the confidential line. Very good date night out kind of a scent. I would also compare it to Nightfall Patchouli because of the rose and patchouli, but of course they are different fragrances, juts one reminds me of another, probably because of that Herrera Confidential DNA. For me its easily one of the favorites from the Confidential line along with Bronze Tonka and Nightfall Patchouli. Very happy I got my hands on it finally.

Lots of patchouli in this one, but I really like the ginger note in it. Initially this has a strong black pepper note that I'm glad is only a top note and soon fades away. It gets your attention but is a bit too harsh for me. Fragrantica also does not list a myrrh note that is listed in the official perfumer's notes. It's not a very strong myrrh fragrance, though. I really like the drydown, but it's actually not a strong rose fragrance. Much more about the spices, the ginger, and cinnamon, blending with patchouli. I just like it because it's bold and has good longevity and you can really tell you're wearing perfume. If you're looking to be noticed for your perfume (and sometimes I am) this is a good fragrance. The bottle is beautiful. These can be ordered from the Carolina Herrera boutiques. Very different from the current wave of wimpy, powdery rose florals. More of a throwback to an '80's type of fragrance with the spiciness.

Carolina Herrera's Burning Rose truly befits the name. From the moment you spray it on until the sweetness of it fades, you will sense the smell of slightly burning Damascena Roses, Cinnamon Bark, Patchouli and a brew of Black Pepper, Ginger and Myyrrh. This scent is like the finest quality Red Wine, it is dark, mysterious, sensual and alluring. I don't find this scent changes much, and I prefer it that way, but it does become sweeter on my skin, mainly from the Cinnamon and maybe Vanilla? I would wear this scent in colder months, mostly at night or in the evening. Silage and longevity are quite good, this scent will fill the room when you're in it. Oozing with richness and opulence, Burning Rose is very grand indeed, one of the most enticing fragrances I have, not to mention the beautiful heavy glass bottles with magnetic lids they come in, I find this fragrance to be just perfect from every aspect!

I love rose fragrances and this is very spicy rose juice with smoke, yet make it a unique fragrance. Its very warm fragrance and fall into oriental category and definitely unisex. I feel its more sexy on women than men. I have smelled the whole line and still find this the most beautiful fragrance among them. It's turning heads fragrance and find it very deep mysterious warm spicy scent. When I walk in the office, people immediately asks me what I'm wearing and got many complements. You can't go wrong with this fragrance, it's a signature for me ! I love it.

It finally made it from the UAE, it is as beautiful as expected. It is a very deep rose created for people who do not care what others think of the perfumes they wear. Absolutely worth the hefty price I paid for it. The box along with the packaging make the fragrance looks expensive as it is. I would like to purchase two other bottles from the same line in the near future.

Burning rose is one of the most beautiful scents I have ever smelled. This is a very realistic rose mixed with spices, a little sweet, and a hint of leather. It is divine. I just yearn for it to last longer. I yearn for it to project. For the price, I need it to. Sandal Ruby from this collection smells just as good and does all of that! Chose that one!

Can we update the nose who created this beauty. It appears this should be attributed to the very talented Olivier Pescheux who very recently passed away. If this could be confirmed and updated it would be wonderful. Very very sad to hear of his passing ❤️

Understated rose and spice! Sexy, classy and mysterious. It does not assault the senses. It makes you want to continuously sniff yourself. Easy to wear. I wore this on a windy day and everyone i passed asked about it. Simply gorgeous.

I couldn't stop thinking about what this smells like. In the gym it came to me Amber Aoud by Roja. This is a super fantastic sweet and spicy rose with some eearthy, but non hippie patchouli that hints at a sweet expensive oud.

For me this is the perfect rose: Smoky, spicy and like the name implies, it is not the fresh innocent rose, but the burnt redolent petals of incense. Just gorgeous, and in a beautiful bottle to boot.

Really great, luxary scent. I tried this last winter, and in the summer i bought it! Unfortunatly in this season sillage is almost zero! Im waitting for cold season to wear this masterpiece

Warm, beautiful and comforting, but smouldering. Equally suited to a casual sweatshirt day as to an evening out. Beautiful bottle. Winner. Plus I love Carolina Hererra the lady. All class.

Really beautiful smoky rose. Dry down after a few hours is reminiscent of a fancy cola (?) smell, probably because of the cinnamon.

It is insane how good this is. I really liked this private line. I have 6 of them and this is one of the best for sure.

Sexy, sultry, dark and spicy rose.

I wrote a review almost two years ago but finally I decided to buy this ones afte long testing other rose options like Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, and Rose D'Arabie from Armani. I decided that I needed to have a Rose perfume (with more rose thant any other options)and I decided this ones because the both I mentioned above are in some way similar but Jo Malone ́s is a little bit louder at first. On me Armani ́s fades away too quick it doesn ́t last more than Malone ́s. Another reason is that this one is very unique, is yes spicy but also very vanillic due to the myrrh. Once on my skin I've received a lot of compliments and it last longer than the other ones. Still the pure rose oil is an oil that is easily absorbed by skin so it will last shorter on skins for these reasons. I consider myself a very difficult costumer so I had to be 100% sure with my purchase.Also I wanted the Armani's Rose with the golden flakes version but it was out of stock. Finally I think I made a good decition. I still have more than 95% of the bottle and still using it. If I had to decide about this Rose Scents: 1 Herrera, 2 Malone, 3 Armani but if I could I would have the three because they have diferent facets of Rose. Also I have the Oud COuture which haves also Damascena Rose but also Taif Rose and I adore it because I consider the "masculine" version of this perfume. They are a unique duo and Im happy with them both.

Also a deep oriental fragrance. I liked it too but not for me. It reminds me a little bit black oud from montale which notes are rose and oud but much more subtle considering that Montale is a very strong and concentrated scent. Rose here is prominent and elegant. Patchouli doesn't feel like in Nightfall patchouli possibly due to the mix with myrrh. Very sensual and elegant fragrance. I would give it a try wearing it myself sometime. But as long as I have Montale black I will try to use it all first.

Absolutely gorgeous scent! Starts off full blown spicy, (where is that rose?) but mellows out into a saffron, tea / chai style softly warm spicy rosey scent, not too strong like the start would suggest. Wow this is a nice one from their prive line. Boozy spicy zesty rose. Is also woody misterious heavy dusty yet really enchanting. Dark femme fatale vibes. Too bad I am not all that I love plush sweet tangy citrusy pink flowers perfumes. Yet i do love this which is quite the oposite. Gives me also dark lipstick makeup powdered vibe.

Rose-flavored medicine syrup. Sweet, rosey, medicinal. Lightly spicy, with a dash of ambery sweetness that smells like burnt sugar (hence "Burning"). Deep and rich but too sweet to be masculine. This is more of a mature feminine sweet rose scent. Cool weather wear. "Like"

This one is smooth sweet slightly feminine leaning clean rose with hints of myrrh. Very nicely done and blossoms in cooler weather. Shukran Habibi!

Mature, dark, almost waxy rose slightly sweetened by spicy cinnamon supported on a faint patchouli. Although it is supposed to be a chypre, it lacks any citrus or brightness as a top note and also the mossiness that characterizes this olfactory family. Feels interesting and mysterious, but better suited for cooler weather. Fairly unisex. I prefer this take on rose over the one in Oud Couture.

I sprayed twice on my arm. I don't smell anything here that would warrant the name "Burning Rose". No smoke, no incense, no fire. Nothing smoldering about this. Rose and patchouli, weakly. 30mn in and it's already just a skin scent with the wimpiest hint of ginger. Maybe good for someone looking for a very subtle fragrance, it won't offend anyone in the workplace for sure

I get why they called it a Burning Rose. This Rose is as spicy as a red pepper. She is bitchy, 🌶 peppery, boozy, smoldering, green and in your face. I have smelled something like this before. Wearable? YES! Likeable? YES Unique? NO -Pass

I am shocked by the positive comments. It smells like my grandmother's ten year old unsmoked cigarettes waiting for some guests in the ashtray. I expected a fresh and hot rose smell but the truth is it is like raw tobacco.

Don't buy their Coffret of miniatures. I did. And half of them were empty, same in the replacement they sent, then they ignored me for weeks until paypal eventually refunded me. Carolina Herrera customer service only reply on trustpilot, so the public think they are reliable. What a disaster of a company.

Got a small 1ml sample of both this and Gold Incense to try. I have been on a long quest to find some dark, heavy fragrances that my nose can bear for autumn and winter, because many of them cause headaches or nausea, or feel like they are too much for me. Black Orchid, LouLou and Obsession come immediately to mind. But I think this one might be it! It's a deep, velvety red rose, almost black its petals are so dark. It's sweet winter spices, Cinnamon and Ginger. It's a dark, earthy patchouli, and what smells like sometimes incense, and sometimes fire smoke threading its way through the fragrance, it's like a black magic love spell being concocted in a secret room somewhere. It's mysterious, it's a little bit dangerous, it's super sexy. It's a wild woman on a dark night who disappears forever before the sun comes up. It's so darkly feminine and intriguing. I wore it all day yesterday, and it lasted the whole day long. It projected well enough that it got comments (all positive), but it wasn't overwhelming to myself or anyone else who could smell it. It's autumn here in the UK, so the weather is cold, and it's definitely a cold weather perfume, although I think you could probably get away with it on a summers night if it's not too hot. I was a little worried it would be too much for daytime wear, but it wasn't, although its scent profile and its vibe are better suited to the night time. It's absolutely beautiful and everything I could want in a night time fragrance. I could not stop sniffing my arm when I had it on, and I got gorgeous wafts of deep smoky rose as I went about my day. It was quite linear despite the depth lent to it by the notes, and didn't really change other than to soften as time wore on. But I like that, I don't want to lose that initial spicy smoky rose scent, because its so damn pretty. Full bottle worthy for me, and absolutely not a safe blind buy, but definitely worth getting a sample to try.

I'm not new here, but this is my first review. I agree with most of the (positive) reviews: this is a smoky, unisexy (and for me, ageless) rose. I detest rose soliflores, and assumed I disliked rose until I began to research; I discovered many of my favorite perfumes contain rose. To me, Burning Rose gives off a slightly Middle Eastern vibe. Has anyone else noticed its resemblance to Aramis's Calligraphy Rose (2013) or Clinique's Beyond Rose (2014)? Both these just precede Burning Rose and are, for me, somewhat more interesting than the Herrera. All are rather linear and mainly winter/evening. Burning Rose's name evokes intensity, but ironically is the least persistent or mysterious of the three. I tried Beyond Rose first, propelled by Luca Turin's rhapsodic review. He calls it a balsamic rose (credited to Aliénor Massenet). He compares it to Le Labo's Patchouli 24 and YSL's Opium but ultimately detects the most similarity in the first Dioressence (1969). I was obsessed with the early Dioressence--perhaps this is why Beyond Rose speaks to me. Calligraphy Rose is significantly sweeter, more syrupy, than either of the BR's. Both CR and Beyond Rose are relatively harder to find. I'm content with my miniature of Burning Rose.

Beautiful rose fragrance and I agree with the others on this stunning fragrance, however, I’m shocked that no one else is mentioning the leather note that comes off in the opening of this fragrance and then slowly subsides like I did. When I had my husband blind test this as well, it was the second note he picked up. I then searched other reviews and I see Sebastian, The Perfume Guy, reviewed this fragrance and he too also noted the undeniable leather note as well. For those who may not detect it, perhaps it’s just skin chemistry. I also went to the CH website for notes and this is what I found: Olfactive family: Floral Top Notes: Black Pepper, Nutmeg Indonesia & Ginger Heart Notes: Rose & Cinnamon Laos Bottom Notes: Patchouli & Myrrh Ingredients shown from left to right: 1. Rose 2. Patchouli 3. Cistelelabdanum 4. Incense 5. Cinnamon Aha! I found my answer to the mysterious leather note...labdanum! Labdanum can give off a leather note, so beware if you don’t care for leather, but for me I absolutely adore it in this fragrance.

Oh my Heavens. Literally. This is just heavenly. I smell the truest rose, like the scent on your fingertips after squeezing a blossom. And soft spice - not sharp and really just surrounding the florals, as if to propel it forward. There is sweetness here as well, and it makes me feel as if I could easily pass up the most decadent chocolate dessert to rather bury my nose in this fragrance. The effect of this on me is absolutely narcotic. Masterpiece. Later . . . I am smelling the smoke now and it is enticing. Adds a warmth to the fragrance which makes it particularly comfortable during this cold winter. A little bit of soapiness evolving as well. Feeling: Deep contentment.

Burning Rose! An incredible blend that I didn't discover its inner beauty until it cooled down! When i first sprayed it on, the rose went kind of mild, fragile, and bit light & tender, but when it cooled down the charm begun to rise! It's herbal, kind of incense, and bit burnt. I get powdered patchouli, bits of cinnamon, and lots of dry raw dill. It's like the Arabian style of Bokhoor. "Burning Rose" is a charming blend that you won't understand unless it cools down, and it's for those who enjoys the Arabian Style Bokhoor. Beautiful.

I have a little bottle from the brand itself, and I'm very confused on this one. I hardly get any rose or patchouli. What I DO GET is heaping amounts of ylang ylang. So much so that it overpowers the other notes. I'm wondering if the other notes/accords are presenting as ylang instead of the nutmeg, ginger, etc...At any rate, this is a big no for me because ylang is a note I no longer enjoy at all.

It's deep and truly (burning). It's spicy all through, but the rose after it opens will explode and remain then it mix with patchouli. Not for hot weather. Unisex. Preferably for the evening and night times. عطر ثابت جدا. شتوي. للجنسين. يفضل لأوقات المساء و الليل. تستمر حرارة الفلفل على طول. لكن بعد وقت قصير ينفجر الورد ( المحروق) بالزنجيل ثم يختلط بالباتشولي.. بصراحه تركيبه فريده جدا جدا

Are you familiar with the gorgeous Nightfall Patchouli? This, plus velvet petals and spices. It's refreshing like a spicy rose punch. Not heavy or musky. Not sharp. Just an enchanting and juicy rose with light and heat.

I bought this from frag flex and I honestly smell nothing!! Not what happened! All I get is a faint scent of spicy rose. Like very faint and subtle.

The rose for the non-rose lover.. and I HATE rose. It's awesome. I get spices and bulgarian rose. Simple but beautiful.
