Oud Satin Mood

I have been sitting on this perfume and exploring it for a few months, trying to decide what I think and if it’s full size worthy. This perfume is not for everyone. It’s not a crowd pleaser. Although the dry down is a lot more appealing than the initial spray which is, as others have said, a veritable bomb of rose and powder that may send some into a panic and preemptively start grabbing advil. WAIT!! There is more to this fragrance, I promise you. Once the fragrance settles a bit, the scent develops into a very clean and fresh group of notes. Like fresh laundry, but not Downy. Something much more expensive. I actually tested out this urge by spraying it on my sheets. It was positively divine. If the scent is concentrated on the skin, it can be quite potent and overwhelming still. I prefer to spray this as a cloud in front of me and walk through it rather than spraying directly on my wrist or neck. There is something very classical and refined about this fragrance. But I wouldn’t call it mature. That is, unless you think rose cannot be youthful. This carries the depth and complexity that might remind me of an older perfume except that it hits none of the old tropes. It really is a modern classic to me. The antithesis of BR540, which I consider more of a trendy scent due to its many popular dupes and similar profile scents. I think this is a feminine fragrance. It is not an influencer girl sort of fragrance, nor a “mature woman” fragrance. I think this is a fragrance for a woman who is not juvenile yet not old, who has some wisdom in her and elegance, who doesn’t chase hype. She’s not quiet but not loud or wasting her breath on too many words. Undeniably romantic. She’s smart, intellectual, but hasn’t lost her abilities in arts or the deeper social nuances of conversation. There’s a darkness, a grounded ness to this rose. Like Beauty from La Belle Et La Betê by Jean Cocteau. This will be my next full size buy. Not for special occasions, but for every day wear, so that my closet can hold traces of this scent in it. I think it’s a great fresh scent and works well in daytime (I may be the only one). I apologized to my husband when I first got in the car after putting this on- I had forgot it was nuclear. But when we embraced in a moment of intimacy, he had to tell me I smelled intoxicating.

I did not know what love was until i started testing this fragrance on at MECCA, this is one of those scents that i personally do not own but have just sprayed on so many times and feel i am in a position to review (however i havent been able to spray it in a while so my scent breakdown is going to be left quite broad). Let me just open with the fact that this is EASILY my favourite fragrance of all time without a doubt. The way everything in this fragrance is blended is BEAUTIFUL, i was not a fan of any sort of floralness in my fragrances until i smelt this, the sweetness and stunning way the rose is done in the opening is addictive, rich, unique and sweet, it then dries down woody, vanillic, while still retaining the unique touch of the rose which has transformed into a sweeter thicker blend and i genuinely cannot express how beautiful this scent is to me. I feel like this can be described as a rose version of naxos, it's rich, sweet, can be worn every day or special occasions, unique and OH MY LAWD THAT PERFORMANCE, genuinely smelt it the week after on my jacket AFTER WASHING IT, the projection on it as well is stunning, i cannot fault this fragrance and currently my rating of it, which might change after more testing is a 10/10

We bought the 200ml for my father's 60th birthday...I had no idea perfume could smell like this. My father saw how in awe I was of this perfume and he generously gave me the massive decant gift that came along with the large bottle. I had never smelled, let alone owned or worn a fragrance like Oud Satin Mood before. I could not stop smelling my clothes from that night. It smelled like some sort of insanely rich and opulent turkish delight of roses, smooth resinous oud, and breathtaking vanilla. I wore it to work and people literally told me that my office and I smelled delicious! Within a month I got myself the 70mL bottle. In a word, the dry down is heavenly. Performance is incredible, the sillage is serious enough to cut through a packed wedding hall with all manner of "Allure Homme Bored To Extreme" and "Who De Chanel?" Oud Satin Mood started my journey, and will always be special to me. The smell is to die for. It changed my life. Francis Kurkdjian is a legend and this is 2nd only to Baccarat Rouge 540 in my humble collection of what I consider to be masterpieces. Update: I had the honor of meeting Francis Kurkdjian and he graciously signed my bottles...the penmanship was especially nice on Oud Satin Mood!

I agree with Edna beneath me. It’s hard to imagine that I ever disliked this fragrance. When I went to a Perfume class and there was a rendition of this there, it made me really fall in love with it. This was exacerbated especially in the dry down. I already have silk mood but that festín mood will be next. Also crazy that this wasn’t even in my top MFK fragrances. As of this past week it definitely shot up to number one. My first three times trying this out, I felt as if it was for someone who’s in their 40s or above. Granted, this was when I first started my Perfume journey and my nose was somewhat juvenile. Now I’m no scent connoisseur but it’s safe to say that I grew to a point where I can appreciate a masterpiece and this is one of those. As simple this profile is with rose vanilla and oud, the rose is very sweet and jammy unlike any other rose on the market. The vanilla sits on top of it, making it truly a decadent profile. And it’s not your traditional oud that’s astringent, sharp and bitter, but it’s more grounded and tone down I guess for western appeal. Either way this whole fragrance is very opulent and simply one of the best rose fragrances of all time

I really don’t enjoy rose scents. This isn’t a scent I ever thought I would like, but was curious to test it due to its popularity. I’m surprised Im really loving this! "Oud Satin Mood (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" to me opens with a beautifully blended rose and silky oud. It feels feminine, luxurious, classy and sophisticated. It initially comes across as sexy and mysterious. As it dries down it turns into a sweet, creamy, candied rose with the strawberry, caramel and vanilla notes noticeable on my skin. The oud note is very subtle. I find this long lasting but soft. Perfect for spring, autumn, winter or date nights. This is a stunner! It’s really quite addictive! If you aren’t a fan of the popular "Delina (Eau de Parfum) | Parfums de Marly" type of rose scents like me (I can’t stand this type of rose!) and you enjoy scents like "La Rose | Christian Louboutin", I think you’d enjoy "Oud Satin Mood (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian". I haven’t smelt "Oud Satin Mood (Extrait de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" to compare, but apparently that’s more masculine leaning.
