CH Birds Of Paradise For Him

When I saw this limited edition in a flashy bottle covered with toucans, I dismissed it as just another generic, cash grab. But Carolina Herrera’s CH Men Birds of Paradise was a very pleasant surprise. Not only is it remarkably good, but it also stands out as unique and underrated. I found this to be a unique scent with a triple personality. It is a beautiful “green”, “tropical” and “aquatic blue” fragrance. It opens with an herbal blast of Egyptian blue chamomile and violet leaf. But don’t let others references to Fahrenheits petrol like violet leaf scare you away. I don’t get the petrol smell at all here. As it dries down, the fragrance transitions into a woody aromatic resting on a smooth, base of tonka bean and sandalwood. Interestingly, despite no coconut or banana being officially listed in the notes, the blend creates a creamy, earthy sweetness that feels distinctly tropical without being gourmand. On MY skin, my nose finds the closest point of reference to be Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Beau Paradise Garden. However, while JPG Paradise Garden leans heavily into an incredibly sweet, blast of coconut and fig, CH Birds of Paradise takes a more grounded approach. On ME, CH Birds of Paradise is a greener, earthier version of JPG Paradise Garden. It shares that same "lush tropical getaway" DNA, but it replaces the heavy, syrupy sweetness of the JPG with fresh rain, cut grass, and mossy woods. It’s more mature, more versatile, and perfectly balances its blue aquatic and green notes with a tonka sweetness in the dry down. If you loved the concept of Paradise Garden but found it too headache inducing for high heat, this is a refined alternative. Performance was surprisingly solid. MY experience was 7 to 9 hours of longevity on the skin, with a moderate, pleasant scent bubble that doesn't scream for attention but definitely turns heads. Because it isn't aggressively sweet, it boasts very good versatility. It’s light enough for the office, refreshing enough for the peak of summer heat and woody enough to transition into a tropical date night scent. CH knocked this one out of the park and I give it a 8.5/10. CH Men Birds of Paradise is a hidden gem that blends green aromatics, blue aquatics with a tropical, woody backbone. If you want to smell like a sophisticated, earthy island getaway and want to stand out from the sea of standard summer colognes this is an absolute must try.

Blind Buy: After reading the comments, it seems like I’m the odd one out with this take but I don’t get any fruitiness. It smells very similar to the original CH Men but is a really nice quality flanker. Timeline of its development for me: First Spray: •Original CH Men DNA shining through •HEAVY violet (CH website just says violet but smells more sharp and green w/metallic edge like violet leaf, think Fahrenheit) •Soft, muted chamomile (makes me think of a warm-tone grey) •Almost intangible mint note (most likely from fir balsam) •No banana/fruity vibes ~ 20 Minutes In: • Violet/chamomile still center stage •Beginnings of a cool, wet jungle, slightly ozonic with a mineralic edge •Fir balsam kicking in •Cashmere woods giving a soft, grounded base ~40 Minutes: •Glorious wet jungle. Phantom palm leaf notes. Water dripping from tree leaves into a rocky stream. Humid but not hot?? (getting more of a sub-tropical rainforest vibe) ~1H: •Soft, almost transparent woodiness with more minerality taking over (driftwood/sandalwood + cashmeran?) ~4H: •Skin scent- no more transformation, heavy on the woody notes I will personally be renaming this one Violet Yucatán as this seems to be along the lines of what DS & Durga were shooting for but unfortunately didn’t come together well as I had hoped. Solid 8.5/10 fragrance but I’m kind of sad about the missing banana note. The intentional addition of a slightly underripe banana and leaf with a touch of copal or copaiba balsam would easily make this Top 5 worthy imo. Feels like a versatile easy reach for warmer temps. Seriously good stuff! Edit: I’ve gotten more compliments over this scent than I’ve ever received about a fragrance. Great mass appeal!

This is really good. I wasn't too interested after the CH Pasion flanker, which smelled great for all 30 seconds or so that it lasts. There is definitely a recognizable Paradise Garden-slash-Kenzo vibe here. If you blindfolded me, and gave me a test strip of this without telling me 'CH limited edition flanker' I'd have guessed something from JPG or Kenzo. The DNA is very much present. I don't see a perfumer listed here but this reeks of Bisch. Whatever the case is, this is very well done. It actually fits somewhere in-between JPGPG and the Kenzo EDTI. And judging from the RMO list, I'm not the only one getting that. There is a touch more green here, and a lot less of the sweetness I get from Paradise garden. I only mention it, because if you have smelled that, or the kenzo, you've smelled this. I think, honestly, I like this more than both of the others I mentioned. There is something....almost...waxy (?) deep in the drydown that is a little bit odd to my nose. But overall this is a well done offering. Probably not full-bottle worthy for me, as I'm not the biggest fan of tropical leaning fragrances. But I might... Edit/Update: Bought a bottle. I like it enough to add it. The Limited-edition scarcity of it added to my FOMO I guess. But it is a unique offering in this genre. Yes. Green. If you don't get it, then you probably haven't smelled too many in this particular space.

Very unique fragrance. I own over 400 bottles & nothing i own smells like this. It's unique scent DNA makes it a stand out; it opens very green & herbal, definitely of chamomile tea. However, its also aquatic & ozonic. . . It's literally a "blue" meets "green" fragrance DNA, that sits on top a delicate woody acord. There's also hints of sweetness, almost creamy like a banana or coconut despite none being listed on the official website! It's not a gourmand sweet, its a very earthy sweet, its dry down is where I love it. Once 10 minutes pass that spiced, herbal tea opening becomes subtle & a softness emits from it. Despite being a tropical themed scent I can see this worn anytime of the year or event. It's very versatile in its presentation! The woody note is listed first above but to me the green accords and ozonic notes lead the scent, the wood is only hinted. It's a fresh rain with recently cut grass on a sweet backround. . I wish this was easier to find so people could test it, due to its unique profile I'd never suggest blind buying it, but the sweetness actually increases as it dries down. VERY unique but I adore it! This combination definitely needs to be played around with by other fragrance houses because its lovely. Great longevity, sillage & projection. Its a limited edition that has come & gone twice since its 2024 release but floats around discounters often.

So I "blind-bought" CH Men Birds of Paradise (my most expensive blind-buy) and it did NOT dissapoint😄. Shout out to Ross from TLTG on YouTube who properly described this as having a "banana smoothie vibe" which is why I became so interested in it, and YES, I'd say it has a quite sweet, creamy, banana/woody vibe, but I dont get much "green" from it as most folks have described. That may be because my bottle needs to mature a bit as its only a few months old according to CheckFresh.com. I would describe Birds of Paradise as a summer appropriate, fresher take on a (Woody Gourmond). Again, it's really sweet, unique, creamy and dries down ultra woody and stays sweet throughout its entire performance.. BEAUTIFUL! Great performance betwern 8 and 10 hours depending on application, and I could easily pick it up on my clothes the following day and beyond. Birds of Paradise does come in a women's version, but although the men's version does lean a bit more masculine bc of the woodyness, this men's version could easily be pulled of by a woman and it would smell amazing on her. I am really VERY happy with my "Blind-buy" and would definately recommend anyone try out atleast a decant, or try it out at your local Mall. 9 outta 10 imo, and one of my top 5 outta my 60+ bottle collection (LOVE THE BOTTLE DESIGN TOO) 😘🤩🥰
