Miss Rocaille

Miss Rocaille just helped me power through a dreary January day. Each time I wear this I try to understand why I find it so energizing and sustaining. Today, as I took my daily rain/shine/snow constitutional around the park I had a revelation. For me, Miss Rocaille harnesses the thundering carnality of Spring. The roiling green things bursting forth violently to cast off their dormancy, and get to work on the urgent business of creativity. Earlier this week I'd had just as unexpected a revelation about a vintage bottle of Balenciaga LA Fuite Des Heures EdT that I had believed to be completely spoiled. I walked up to the perfume table in my bedroom and gave it a vicious shake. An intuition? I applied it and instantly had the Proustian moment that I had believed to be possible yet had never experienced prior. The little things growing close to the ground, the smell of which I cherished as a tiny child had been kidnapped and trapped inside the bottle like dozens of genies. This tenderness of Spring is in opposition to the rigorous adolescence of Miss Rocaille. She is off to paint a 6' by 6' canvas of her lover, en plein air. I literally own thousands of dollars worth of perfume and I'm pretty impressed that something I barely paid anything for is such a stand out in my collection. If you have feelings for the green smells of Spring you have to sample this one.

This is definitely a spring/summer fragrance. It is so refreshing! A spring garden after a rain. Lovely, cool and green. I really like the sea water note. One reviewer said it smelled musky but it doesn't on me. It has good projection and last a long time. It is not your typical Caron, it is a lovely green floral, but it's not flowery. I really love Caron classic fragrances but this one is different, special, but no less impressive. I guess the bottle is misleading because it's pink and rosy. I actually really like the bottle. It looks perfect on my vanity. The bottle is very classy and feminine. The fragrance inside, while beautiful is nothing like roses. It is perfect this spring and I am so enjoying it. Even though it's named Miss Rocaille it can be worn by anyone. It is also very affordable, one of the least expensive perfumes I own. You can find it on eBay for not a lot of money. So if you like floral greens give this one a chance. Green florals are one of my favorite categories and one is great!

We are so different and our tastes and perceptions of fragrances are, too! For me, this perfume is exceptional, a piece of art with its unique character. It's green, fresh, aromatic and very herbal, fresh spicey and citrusy at the same time, but this doesn't tell much, because the combination and blending of the notes end up in a scent that doesn't smell like anything else in the whole world! I love it and this is one of my most unique and interesting yet beautiful scents I own (and a back up bottle, too:)

I love this fragrance! The opening is very fresh and a little grassy, then the floral notes appear. The lov comes out strongly on me,it's a beautiful green lov and the basil adds to it. Stays fresh to the finish. Reminds me of a spring garden with plants almost ready to flower, and new grass underfoot. This one will definitely stay in my collection!

This is my first ever Caron and I love it. To me it smells beachy and maybe a little grassy. Mostly beachy, I guess that comes from the sea water notes. It is beautiful, perfect for summer and strong (I like strong) I hope it has great sillage and lasts a while, if it does, it just might be my summer signature scent.

The bottle does not match the fragrance inside. The bottle is pink and dainty with embossed roses in the glass giving it a very feminine look. One would expect the perfume to smell like roses or be heavily floral and very womanly. The scent is not typically floral at all. There are some floral notes there but they are light. When you first spray this on your skin, what you get is a very bitter "green" smell. It's almost off putting but it settles down rather quickly and turns into something much softer and friendlier. The "greenness" lasts throughout the duration and like I mentioned previously, there are also some light floral elements as well. The beauty of this scent is the lovely sea water note. It's prominent to my nose in the dry down and that's what I'm mostly getting as the fragrance becomes faint. The lasting power on my skin isn't too great. I find it does fade out pretty fast. I also find that this is a perfume that sits very close to the skin so don't expect too many others around you to notice it. I don't love it but I do like it. Totally unique and different from most of the fragrances I usually wear. Definitely worth a try!

It seems like people either love Miss Rocaille or hate her. I think I fall more into the "like very much" camp, but full-size bottles are so cheap on eBay, I'll likely pick one up (I rarely buy full sizes of anything, just my personal preference). Miss Rocaille was a blind buy for me -- and a very pleasant surprise...once I got past the initial GREEN, very bite-y opening. within just a few seconds of application (dab from a tiny sample vial), the shrieking GREEN notes settled down into a very feminine, sweet floral bouquet that reminds me of spring in full bloom (only without all of the sneezing and watery eyes). today is a cold, overcast day in mid-December, and Miss Rocaille is a burst of sunshine and colour in an otherwise grey day. if you can get past the blast of very GREEN opening notes (did I mention it's *extremely* GREEN??), this fragrance is a lovely "pick me up" addition to a daytime-fragrance wardrobe.

Soft spring/summer floral, with a juicy orange and a green citrus edge. Just gets better as time goes on. Unusual opening featuring a very distinct basil: fresh, aromatic, and green. African orange blossom combines with tangerine to produce a wonderfully wet floral fruity note. With the water lily and the sea note (salt and ozone) comes a very fresh, natural, and again very moist and wet heart accord. The dry down is very resinous, and only mildly musky: green, dry, nutty, not sweet. Very nice LOTV also. This is a spring-green LOTV, which brings a little soapy note to what is otherwise a green and sappy finish. The overall effect is of a unique, youthful, greenish floral that reminds me of a fresh, seaside garden.

I can't believe this one has so many dislikes. I spray on Miss Rocaille and feel like I can take on the world! It is incredibly bracing and stimulating. The green notes smell like green tomato to me -- to be more specific, like a long-discontinued shower gel I loved from The Body Shop. They had this line called "Juice It!" and one of the scents was green tomato. I tried to buy out all their remaining stock when I learned the line was being discontinued, but the person literally right in front of me in line did it first. It's like a fresh vegetable garden, and completely unisex, unlike its name and packaging. Miss Rocaille is an attack-your-to-do-list fragrance, and I'm delighted to have it.

I find this perfume a bit unusual - one need to smell and taste it for long time in order to understand what it is all about. It is like meeting a grey looking guy, nothing special, you talk to him, also nothing special, but after you meet with im few times, you suddenly see the beauty of his personality with such power, that you fell in love. The same is with this Miss Rocaille. Strange...but interesting like all Caron's creation, so to say the perfume with surprise:) smells like a green grass or twigs at the beginning, late develops in aromatic and flowery scent. Not bad...

Very, very green. Reminds me of Vent Vert. There MUST be galbanum in this.

I bought this one blind when I first embarked on my fragrance-craze! NOT recommended as a blind buy! It was winter. I sprayed it on my wrist... and was shocked! I didn't want to smell like grass! However... feeling a little more comfortable at dabbling in "complex" scents, I tried it again today (I have only tried it a few times since.) Much more bearable! I definitely pick out basil and orange now - less grass! It's a rainy day outside, and I actually feel slightly empowered and "don't mess with me" since spraying it! I wouldn't call it a "pretty" or "beautiful" scent, but nevertheless it is feminine in a "gutsy" way. Wanting to compare it to another green scent, I sprayed Gucci Envy on the other wrist. Wow, Envy smells sweet compared to Miss Rocaille! I wouldn't say I LIKE it just yet, but our relationship has certainly progressed. I've decided to keep the bottle after all. Just don't think I'd ever finish it...

i thought i got a turned bottle upon the first spray on my wrist. It smelt simply terrible. To try to determine if it was indeed turned bad i kept sniffing at my wrist and suppressing my overwhelming desire to wash the perfume off. The perfume was very green and very bitter. It reminded me of the plants and leaves of green tomatoes, similar to DKNY. And both Miss Rocaille and DKNY gave me headaches. There was no floral note. The perfume stayed green and bitter and terrible from start to finish. The bottle is a major misrepresentation. Looking at the bottle, i would think it contained fruity sweet floral pleasant perfume.

Miss Rocaille is a slightly odd sort. She’s not your regular girl next door, and she doesn’t always feel the need to be sweet, or pleasant, and won’t alter who she is to suit your mood. She just is what she is, and if you don’t like that attitude, you can leave. She’s outdoorsy, tends to her flowers, cuts grass herself, and these things she does, they leave their mark on her. She’s not a bad sort, but I still haven’t decided if she and I really get along. We’ve only just started to say hello to each other. So time will tell.

I think that is too much musk, I wear it once but unfortunately, I did't smell nothing on this list of ingredients...no lilies, no water flower, maybe some bitter tangerine and marine notes...a few... eventually the combination between pistachio and musk is not my fav.

Miss Rocaille. I will warn those of you trying this for the first time to hold your breath for the first 10 seconds and give it 5 minutes to settle down before starting to explore it. It gives off a bitter green start like Vent Vert or a light green Aliage. Once the citrus kicks in.. Then she is on her way. Lilly of the valley and sea water keeps it airy but not beachy. Its riding the green aquatic trend too late by 2004. It does have a miss arpel feel ..where the big houses thought a green floral was the height of youth and freshness for a younger audience. However with the release of angel and pink sugar the youth were gravitating to the sweet gourmand trend already. In 2017 however this reads more as a niche with the basil green start. Its price is wonderful and its not something everyone will be wearing. Its fresh, bracing, floral and pistachio on the edges. It doesnt grow dark. Perfect for spring and summer. Its the oddball in the Caron cannon but dont be afraid to try her out if u like green edges in your fragrance.

What a strange scent! I'm not sure if I like it or not, but it is certainly interesting. The initial wafts of basil right after spritzing remind me of Manifesto by Isabella Rossellini. They're not around for too long, though. I agree with Tessture's description of "sunscreen and bug spray." Or perhaps hairspray? Some green florals have an odd chemical note that smells like one of those old-fashioned heavy-duty hair sprays in the giant aerosol cans. I get this impression from Miss Rocaille. Also, I detect a hint of something that smells like a freshly-opened box of plastic trash bags. And yet the perfume is pleasant, somehow, and it compels me to keep sniffing my wrist. Great longevity and those unusual synthetic middle notes persist for hours. Unique, to be sure. Worth a try for fans of the unusual. I don't see why men couldn't wear it, too. It's a bit flowery but not really girly or perfumey.

Sometimes when I read about a unique perfume like this, I start to wonder, whether it speaks mostly to people of certain geographic areas. The description of it could almost be a hymn to Ireland - all the green freshness, a little flowers and the sea. And the I start to wonder, will it attract people from areas like Ireland, or will it attract people who lives in Arizona e. g or other dry places, people who maybe sometimes could do with a little greenness and moisture in the air. If anyone who regret buying their bottle would sell me a sample, I would really appreciate it, or maybe I could give a sample for it. ( Not all my fragrances is in the wardrobe, if you should consider the sample-thing :-) )

it ́s a pity this one is not so easy to find, I would like to have it again. A true floral, you can notice perfectly the scent of fresh flowers in a garden, but with an aquatic sensation. IN the ad of internet shop where I purchased it, was writen Miss Rocaille contains some aphrodisiac touch of sea foam. In fact, the fragrance have such "salty" touch, midst the flowers. I lov it, very very feminine, but of course is not the "modern" scent of nowadays. It is for young and romantic women, I think.

I have no idea why so many women are hating on this fragrance. On me it opens like a fresh burst of Spring, but without all the sneezing. Very green and outdoorsy. Think of a walk in the park on a Spring day right after the lawns have been mowed. Then it dries down to something that smells almost exactly like Estee Lauder Pleasures Intense. A nice, light Spring/Summer fragrance. Not a favorite, but the bottle itself is a work of art, and at $14.00 a bottle on eBay it's like why the hell not?

I had to try this based on the reviews and wild notes. Can it really be that bad? For me, it really is that bad. Like... a decade of trying perfumes and this one might be the worst for me. It reminds me of that snow spray they used to put on trees for the holidays. Vaguely scented of pine and musty plastic. My husband, who is usually pretty chill about scents and restrained in his commentary, yelled "ow my eyes" when he sniffed my arm.

Goes on orange blossom, sunscreen and bug-spray and fades down to an almost resinous delicious base. It reminds faintly of church incense and honey and at other times of the yellow pollen you get on your nose when you sniff a flower in a sunlit garden. Very truly summer and just lovely. Odd, I don’t even like orange blossom based scents, but I do like this one

Anyone for a swap? This fragrance is a total miss for me, no pun intended. But the seawater is nothing but discord for my chemistry. My bottle is full and message me if interested!

EAu de New York by bond no9!! If you like that which I own, this smells exact!! I thought the seller poured caron miss Rocaille into its bottle until I read the notes. I have both.
