Pour Un Homme de Caron 2017

A friend was going to Paris on vacation and I asked her to pick me up a bottle of this heavenly juice. I've been wearing it all day and agree that the primary DNA of lavender, vanilla and musk which it shares with Caron Pour Un Homme is certainly there. If someone didn't want to go through the machinations of enlisting a traveling friend, or paying for overseas shipping, then enjoy the EDT. It is super enjoyable. But I had an itch to get my hands on this parfum. With the addition of amber, and better quality ingredients this stuff is SMOOOOOOOOOTH. I will use this parfum the same as the EDT, avoiding the heat. This is a beautiful, sexy, semi-formal, deep parfum. No buyers remorse here.

Pour Un Homme Parfum by Caron is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. It is a relatively new fragrance since it was launched in 2017 as compared to the OG version which was created in 1934. 😅 The nose behind this fragrance is Richard Fraysse. The fragrance features lavender, vanilla, amber and musk. A very simple composition but masterfully blended. That said, I am not sure this fragrance will be the most pleasing one for the young folks under 25 years old but to me, it is one of the best old school designer lavender scent ever made hands down. 😊

I was lucky enough to find this rare Parfum version of the iconic Caron perfume at a reasonable price. I think it's funny that it's called "Pour Un Homme"... And it is even more fun that someone calls it an "old man perfume"!!! I think this is the most genderless and ageless perfume I know! This Aromatic, vanillic and powdery scent is great for anyone who wants a safe, cuddle and soothing perfume, in any season. I've just met it, but I already know I'll love it forever!

A wonderful version of the original Pour un homme. All the great stuff from the edt, + some amber in the base. Deeper, denser and more intense. It sits closer to the skin, but it has better longevity than the edt. Amazing scent! 10/10

A kind of CPuH on steroids. This one is a bit dryer than the original, less sweet. The sillage might be a bit stronger than the original, and it is lasting very long on clothes. Unfortunately still not as good quality and as strong as the old versions of the standard CPuH EDT, but it is definitely a good flanker. I might prefer the Millesime 2014 for its better quality of ingredients, but all 3 (CPuH, parfum, and 2014) are all different. 8.5/10

I really don't like this one, recently picked up a bottle and was my first foray into the house of Caron and a recommended blind buy (risky business I know...) I did an olfactory double take on intial sample, I was not expecting it at all. Reminded my amateur nose of my Grandmothers love of all things Lavender, but not in a nostalgic good way. I will be parting company with it ASAP..

I have been wearing Pour un Homme de Caron in one form or another for almost 50 years: All through the 70's and 80's, Caron made the complimentary "necessaires de toilette" that were offered to passengers on Air France flights: Men got Pour un Homme, and the ladies initially got "Bellodgia" then later they changed it to "Eau de Caron." The men's version contained two glass flacons and a small bar of soap encased in a heavy clam shell carrier. My inaugural introduction to Pour un Homme occurred while submitting helplessly to severe trouble after having excused myself to visit the loo, always a fun experience when you are on a jet, and you are 5, to empty an entire flacon over my head then emerge screaming that it had burned my eyes, also handily perfuming the entire cabin just for everyone's pleasure. Having traveled back and forth from France constantly (Paris-NY, then later Paris-LA) I collected whole drawers full of these flacons and soaps, considering them like precious cargo. I was a dapper smelling 7 year old: Perfectly groomed in my little navy suit with the white pearl buttons, and matching hat. It stood to reason, and was perfectly logical, that Pour Un Homme would stay with me. I considered it a precious "perfume," when my mother would send me huge bottles of Eau du Coq or Eau Impériale when I was off at school. A tiny splash of Pour un Homme layered atop these maintained my now famous aura of fragrant perfection. As I grew up, I toyed with other things. Jicky, then, when the Guerlain boutiques finally began selling it to the public, Mouchoir de Monsieur, became my signatures, and they remain so to this day, only, they are almost always augmented by a bit of Pour un Homme: Caron now even make a fragrant hand sanitizer for these barbaric times of plaque. In the winter months, when the world turns frozen, I have taken to using first finger dabs of "Impacte," and now strategic puffs of "Parfum" both of which I find comforting. These intense versions do something the Eau de Toilette doesn't, as their base notes are increased dramatically, and the strength of their vanilla and musk foundations are far more noticeable, though "Impacte" is more gluey. Each version of Pour Un Homme is indeed different, "Impacte" being the most noticeably altered: It has so much coumarin in it that it truly does smell like glue, or, as most Americans will define this note, "Play-Dough." The newer version, aptly called "parfum" is simply deeper, more velvety and in many ways more suave and sensual. It is for use exclusively in cold climates, and in those cold climates, during times the world is frozen: There is nothing more delicate and comforting than the effluvia of Pour Un Homme Parfum lingering endlessly on a scarf, or, more seductively, on the rolled part of a roll neck cashmere jumper. Pour un Homme in any strength requires a certain amount of confidence to carry, though it is simple, it presents a gravitas that not many mens scents might match. There are few things that have remained as they were for all of the long years of our lives, but I might confidently attest that this menu of refined indulgences is one of them. Approach with caution, but if you dare, indulge with abandon. Life is short. Savor every moment.

Seemingly impossible to find in the USA so I broke down and ordered a bottle directly from Caron Paris. It is very similar to the EDT but amped up. You get a big blast of lavender in the opening which I like. As it wears it starts to resemble the EDT more and more. It doesn't project quite as much as the EDT but lasts well. It's nice but might not be worth paying a lot. The newer Le Soir is easier to find and is great.

According to Parfumo this version is from 2005. This Ombree bottle is perhaps the most beautiful in the line, although the latest release of this year from puhdc x Nathanaël Koffi is also extraordinarily gorgeous. - Volgens parfumo komt deze versie uit 2005 Deze Ombree flacon is misschien wel de mooiste uit de lijn, alhoewel de laatste release van dit jaar puhdc x Nathanaël Koffi ook buitengewoon prachtig is.

Really, I can't hardly wait but the downside i see that the size (75 ml ) is just simply not enough as I know that the original edition iconic Pour Un Homme Caron has a grate satisfying size ( 200 ml ) , I hope the house of caron release this great size in the parfum. Soon
