Caprissimo

This scent was released far before 2009 - I have a bottle from 1997, and it wasn't even new at that time. I'm not sure if it was reformulated in 2009, which could be the case. In any event, my vintage bottle has aged beautifully and is a shining jewel in my collection. The bright top note of citrusy bergamot is radiant alongside the floral bouquet of gardenia, lilac, and frangipani - these notes are unashamed to be bold and indolic, and their treatment is closer in character to scents from the mid-twentieth century. The base in the vintage formulation has a prominent ambergris backbone, the likes of which are rare to find today due to certain regulations. I love the hints of spice and warm resins, and it reminds me of days long gone. I think perhaps this vintage-style beauty couldn't appease modern noses, and it seems to have been discontinued based on the Carthusia website. Knowing that, I'll treasure my bottle all the more now.

Another vote for this one reminding of Fidji. It has the same quality that you can sense sweet flowers, yet it's not overall a sweet scent. I love the combination of creamy gardenias & ylang and equally potent breezy lilacs and honeysuckles. It smells modern but has a classic structure - fresh bergamot gives a sparkling beginning, but in the last phase a warm soft spiciness lingers on my skin. Very good lasting-power, moderate silage and strangely addictive to my nose.

Oh why couldn't I have discovered this before it was discontinued!!! I found a small bottle on ebay and have completely fallen in love with it. On me, this is a very multi-hued fragrance which does not remind me of anything specific but a new creation of its own. The floral aroma sifts through filters of different spicy or green angles and entices absolutely and gently. I must find more of it!

This is quite beautiful. Extrememly nice on clothes as well as on the skin. Nice elegant classy day fragrance that can be used any time of the year. Also, it's also very nice to mix and layer. Just a beautiful floral and well worth the try :)

Visiting Florida right now. Nice, warm spring weather....70-75 and moderate humidity. Tried this perfume and really like it. Can't wait to wear this this spring in Chicago. EDIT It did not disappoint in our lovely, humid, Chicago weather.

Caprissimo confused me... I tested it without have read any reviews or looked notes... The opening remembered me of O de Lancome, but it was not so sharp, it was softer. I associated it also with Y by YSL, with Fidji and maybe also with First by Van Cleef & Arpels - there was something common in Caprissimo and all these three. Caprissimo was more rounded, though. I checked the notes and I couldn’t believe it - there wasn’t any hint of oakmoss or aldehydes – ...I was rather confused, thought that I had made some mistake with samples, but reading other reviews, I saw that everything was ok – I was not alone with these confused feelings. So, for conclusion - Caprissimo is complex, interesting, green and soapy classic fresh floral perfume.Very pleasant and veratile, ideal for office use. Really recommended to ladies who miss vintage Y or Fidji or First or O , but not only...also Prada Infusion d'Iris or Chanel no19 Poudre lovers could love it...I do!

What a complex and mysterious wonderful perfume this is. I got it as sample with a purchase of corallium. It is a great perfume no doubt on that. Very prominent is the scent of gardenia. Later on the floral scent is coming through especially the iris and honeysuckle with the tiara flower or frangipani followed by cloves. The wonderful thing is that after this a bit the strong scent of white flowers softens on its way through cloves and amber-like scents to a citric-fresh and sweet floral scent. Yes it is a very mysterious scent and just in the end you could imagine that it is more a scent that women would wear but no need. This perfume is so great it has all sides of a great perfume. You can wear this especially on festive occasions. Silage is great and longevity is moderate/long.

Carthusia's Caprissimo is EXTREMELY similar to Fidji by Guy Laroche, a classic fragrance of which I have owned many bottles. The difference lies in the price point: $80 for a 50ml EDT of Carthusia online versus Fidji which is $36 for a 50 mL or $48 for 100mL The choice is yours but my nose sincerely cannot distinguish between these two fragrances.

Definitely try a sample of this before buying! I don't know if my sample has gone bad or if this just doesn't work with my skin chemistry but this was a total scrubber. This manifested as old florals, pencil shavings and funk on me. All I could think was that I was smelling an old schoolteacher's underwear and I needed to get rid of it now! PS. I really liked Carthusia's Mediterraneo and found Carthusia's Via Camerelle alright (both are citrus frags). Those worked better for me.

Caprissimo is not at all what I expected it would be like before sampling. What a confused fragrance to my nose! I find that there is something unharmonious hiding in the group of notes, maybe it's the myrrh that is clashing about with loud symbols..... The top citrus and floral notes are muddied by something unpleasantly pungent lurking in the heart of this composition. Test thoroughly before buying.

Everyone else breaks this down far better than I ever could..... I will say that while I may have been tempted by Mediterraneo or Via Camerelle, I’ve never actually purchased FB of those. I guess I need a little more heft and longevity in my scents than either of those lovely, lovely creatures, which this gives, but I guess I just kinda think this is what Guerlain would wear out on the yacht or for dinner in the grove. It’s a magical blend of fresh and yet spicy. Love. (Plus, my grandmother’s home always had wafts of clove, so over and above the performance/blend of this, I’m always gonna love scents with clove. And opoponax.... So I guess that myrrh is working it’s magic on me)

Odd and interesting. The citrus is bitter, more like lemon rind than the juice or fruit. The myrrh comes up with the lemon and there is a very soft floral note in the background that eventually develops into a quiet jasmine. I actually like this quite a bit but I'm struggling to think of where I'd want to wear it. It seems to be an evening scent but it's too stern to be romantic. There is something very Greek about this perfume so perhaps visiting Piraeus at night would work. I didn't make a notes comparison but as soon as I put Caprissimo on my skin from tester I thought: "I know what this is! Fidji!" The old good Fidji by Guy Laroche, a beautiful total floral with an exotic touch and a gentle aromatic sandalwood base, flowers smelled through branches of fragrant trees a soft breeze in the air and the smell of summer close to the sea. It is not beachy tropical nor ozonic, thanks heaven. This Caprissimo is actually a little more mellow and less pungent in the start than Fidji. It's Fidji with a hint of Creed Fleurissimo. Expensive.

I am very confused by this scent--or at least my sample of it! The first thing I noticed upon applying Carthusia Caprissimo was the presence of oakmoss. Then I was sure that I smelled aldehydes. Neither is listed among the notes! The perfume currently on my skin is a classic floral and bears a resemblance to Guerlain Chant d'Arômes (during its aldehyde period...). A solid floral composition with a greenish facet--and I swear some aldehydes! Complex and inviting. Another winner from Carthusia. But is this Caprissimo? I suspect a decanting error.

Wonderfully Mediterranean (that is, with plenty of lemons in it) and charming, becomes thoroughly floral after a while. I gave a bottle to my mother many years ago and I remember she was keen on it.

Strange herbal lemon, the sourness extinguished by powder. This makes my nose itch.
