Tuberosa

Carthusia Tuberosa opens with a heady, balsamic whiff of plum. It is overwhelmingly fruity and jam-like, not to my taste, but is intriguing. The subtle hint of cinnamon complements the soft, juicy plum notes with its typical sweet spiciness. The florals creep in after a little while - ylang-ylang and something akin to indolic jasmine. They are joined later by a surprisingly soft tuberose, which develops beautifully. The tuberose note is very interesting - neither green nor heady/waxy as it usually appears. Instead, it is soft, subdued, sweet and creamy, and doesn't overwhelm the other notes as it so often does in perfume. Combined with the vetiver, it is a dream. There is some natural-smelling vanilla, which provides just the right amount of subtle sweetness. This scent is a masterclass in rendering typically loud and overpowering ingredients soft and cohesive. The rich, soft sweetness lasts as it dries down, and it becomes woody and slightly musky. As mentioned below, this scent needs to be tested on skin to be appreciated. On paper, this is a generic sweet, fruity and one-dimensional scent. Tuberosa is a modern take on a classic, ladylike scent. Despite being marked as unisex, it is distinctly feminine to my nose. Well-blended and made from good quality ingredients, this has just the right amount of projection, and garners compliments. Decent longevity too. The best new scent I've tried in a while and my first from Carthusia. 4/5.

Luca Maffei again did outstanding job. It starts with a heady fruity flowery notes and morphs in to creamy and airy but stil complex tuberose. On my skin light and airy cinnamon is persistent throughout the creations and adds gorgeous trail with musks, vetiver and ambroxan at the dry down. Simply irresistible and unisex and as I love it in the summer, now in the end of September when is a bit cooler shins and develops even more beautiful.

Mainly plum cinnamon and tuberose 😍 Now that I finally bought it since 4 years ago when I first smelt it, I can tell, it transports me back to a decade ago when I had this fragrance by Lange (French skincare brand) called Day in Orient. It smells like Tuberosa, although Day in Orient was a cardamom rose bomb, and Tuberosa doesn't feature cardamom - must be plum/cinnamon together. This is a rich thick Elixir of a fragrance.

Carthusia is a brand that perfectly embodies the Gusto Italiano (Italian taste): its scents are well crafted, original, never too loud, elegant. More of an acquired taste as the perfumes are not simplicistic but need time and devotion to be understood and appreciated (but isn't it the same with other brands? Tauer, Montale, Tom Ford - just to name three?). Tuberosa is no exception. It's a beautiful interpretation of the theme, but rendered in a new way. What aspect of tuberose is displayed here is not the greenery as in Maitre Gantier, or the sexy creaminess as in Fracas, but a pensive hue halfway between cosmopolitan elegance and intellectual style. It starts with an array of notes, maybe too many and the first impression is of a little confusion. But we know complex perfumes require time, so let's be patient. And after a few minutes we get a catwalk of notes leading to the most beautiful drydown we could imagine after such a beginning. The cinnamon is clearly present at the very start paired with a soft plum: phase 1 - Spicy and Fruity. Then both notes subside a little and ylang, vanilla and rose appear on stage: phase 2 - Creamy and Floral. Wait! Isn't this a tuberose? Yes, patience please. I said we have to be patient. All the other notes in the background - Here comes the tuberose in company of a stunning vetiver. This tuberose is creamy, soft, sweet, with a gardenia undertone that I find marvellous: this is not a green tuberose, this is a sweet tuberose. But vetiver tames the sweetness offering its shades of green underwood. These two notes continue playing on stage and the final effect is something totally different from what you would (could) have expected from the start. This is phase 3 - Sweet and Woody and it last hours and hours. On my skin this is all but a fleeting scent, on the contrary, it's persistent and I am glad because it is WONDERFUL

This is a tuberose smack in the face. It’s bold and deep and mature but not “old lady,” and it projects and lasts like crazy. I bought this on a summer visit to Positano where I was sweating my ass off going up and down stairs all day and it never weakened. I never get compliments on it but it kind of makes me love it more.

It’s a sunny white floral scent, yet quite indolic. I can also feel lots of yellow flowers (ylang?) and musks that makes it quite soapy and somewhat spicy. But the base is pretty: sweet musk mostly.

The combination of tuberosa, plum, elemi and cinnamon is mindblowing. Surprising, unique and genius. I prefer my perfumes strong, but I'm happy I chose EdP, not Profumo. This stuff is dynamite.

Overall, I like Carthusia Perfumes a whole lot. I like Lucca Maffei's work. I owned and loved Terra Mia; went through a full 100ml bottle in short time. I'm waiting on a full 100 ml bottle of "Lady Carthusia." With this, I decided to try "Tuberosa" as I'm exploring tuberose-centric fragrances. Not sure about Tuberosa. Going to give this more time and perhaps update my review. I find the perfume's opening extremely harsh & rough. The opening is a strong, aldehydic, synthetic plum accord that to my nose borders on offensive. The plum smells boozy and overly ripe, bordering on rotting. On my skin, the plum note is thick, syrupy and jammy. I detect something spicy, which I imagine is cinnamon. There's banana-like ylang-ylang. After 20-30 minutes on skin, an extremely shrill, faint bubblegum tuberose note pokes through, which also smells highly synthetic. While the fragrance is more tolerable at this point, I still primarily smell thick, fruity, sour-grapes and overly-ripe plum. If present, any tuberose or rose notes are practically drowned out by the spicy fruity opening and the other mid accords. And as I'm rechecking the "Reminds Me Of..." section, Tuberosa IS a wee-bit reminiscent of Crivelli "Tubereuse Astrale." However Tubereuse Astrale is much sweeter and smoother than Carthusia Tuberosa. And Crivelli's fragrance is seamlessly blended with prettier floral notes and a lovelier floral base. Uggghhhhh...this one is going on eBay.

Tuberosa by Carthusia is a cinnamon forward tuberose fragrance. It’s blended well enough that they merge together in a harmonious fashion, yet this combination isn’t for me. I don’t hate the fragrance, but I never reach for it. Given my love of most Carthusia scents, Tuberosa was a disappointment.

Tuberosa by Carthusia is the campiest tribute to tuberose I have ever smelled. This fragrance is an unabashed blend of 80s kitsch plum, a creamy tuberose reminiscent of a seductive and slightly eccentric aunt, an opulent and pretentious rose, sweet comforting vanilla and hint of dusty powderness.

163 Ah, the note combination sounded so good. It was a big letdown. Could barely smell edp or parfum. No tuberose, dusty, sour, watery thing. 0/10 Edit: Later, because I dumped the rest of the vial on my top in one spot, it smelled of a tart creaminess.

I bought this as a blind buy based on reviews here and I loved a tuberose fragrance as a teenager. With the bottle from Beauty Habit I received a tester so I did paper and skin. There is a huuuge difference between the two. Paper is rather meh, no floral at all, almost slightly unpleasant. I was Not impressed. Skin is an entirely different matter. This is, as one reviewer said, a fragrance that requires patience. It has to unfold itself and it takes its own sweet time. The first whiff is fruity, no floral, I didn't like it much and seriously thought I'd be returning it Ah but wait, then it morphed slowly, more floral, soft and creamy. delicate but a definite presence Not distinctly tuberose, at least not the sharp aggressive tuberose I remember but something .... different. A flower to be named later -- or maybe nameless forever but not to be denied. Then a slow deepening of the floral joined by woody and sweet. So it's not distinctly one or the other but all 3 in a a scent not to be igorned. This isn't for a young girl. It's a mature woman's fragrance. A woman who knows who she is, what she wants and isn't shy about getting it -- although in the most elegant classy way. It is as the reviewer above said "super sexy, super dark and super feminine." It doesn't smell like tuberose on me, but it does smell fantastic -- and it lasts for hours.

A very sweet plum and tuberose vanilla. I do get some banana ylang as well. This may be too sweet for me though. Must love a sweet floral for sure. I wish the spicy notes were more pronounced and that there was more base notes to round this out for me.

On me, the plum and cinnamon dominates, as I wait for a more floral turn, I percieve a lick of what appears quite coconutty... no bad thing, really. I like this smell, but it isn't as flowery as I expected!
