La Panthere Edition Soir

I love Cartier la panther and adore la panther legere,legere is among my top favorites so I had to try edition soir.I thought I won't need to buy it because I believed how can they make an already great fragrance better? Well they can.just one spray on back of my hand was enough to decide I NEED it.I love moss,musk and gardenia and their combination is heavenly here.it doesn't have fruity notes of original or soapy aldehydes of legere and I agree that it reminds narciso edp of Rodriguez Narciso but gardenia and musk(which are very similar in this two)don't appear in a milky,creamy base such as narciso.they appear in a powdery,earthy,mossy base which I find even more charming.it can also be a cousin of Bottega veneta eau legere I was scared of animalic notes here but there's nothing stinky or dirty in it.they have a balancing role here;I believe it could be a soulless,sterile clean scent if there weren't animalic notes to give it a lively,sexy quality.don't let it's minimalistic notes fool you to expect a plain scent.it has multiple layers waiting to be unfolded on your skin.I can't assume it a safe blind buy unless you love a tad soapy musky white florals enveloped by warm mossy,leathery notes(yes,I pickup a touch of leather here.in the softest,most feminine way) Stays the whole day on my skin and radiates strongly for a long time without being heavy All in all I loved it.I was thinking of buying a backup bottle of la panthere legere,but instead I think I'd better buy edition soir first It Smells expensive.is full of confidence and sophistication.it's a modern classic just like other members of la panthere family It may need some time to grow on you.my nose was half anosmic to it's sisters in first couple of trys,I was totally dissapointed to see they last less than an hour with no sillage but suddenly they became clear and powerful to my nose ❤❤❤❤❤

This fragrance shares a very similar DNA to Cartier La Panthère EDP, but the difference is quite noticeable right from the initial spray. It comes across as more musky, kind of sour and it’s listed with "animal notes". To my nose, the animalic facet here doesn’t smell like typical animalic notes such as castoreum, civet, or oud. Instead, it feels more like a slightly “dirty” musk or possibly something coming from the gardenia itself. The animalic character is quite approachable,this doesn’t go into very niche or challenging territory. It’s still something most people can tolerate. The overall composition remains familiar. You can still pick up the dried fruits accord from the original La Panthère DNA, along with the prominent gardenia and oakmoss. In the first hour, the projection feels stronger and more intense compared to the EDP. However, after that initial phase, it can feel somewhat redundant if you already own La Panthère EDP. As it moves into the drydown, the classic La Panthère DNA becomes more dominant again, and the animalic aspect fades, turning into a more musky profile overall. In general, this is a muskier, slightly more animalic take on the La Panthère DNA. The animalic facet is beginner-friendly and not overly niche. It adds a unique twist, but still remains wearable. That said, in terms of overall scent and performance, I still prefer La Panthère Parfum as the best flanker. In fact, I consider it one of the best chypre fragrances I’ve ever smelled. Still, this is a solid release. The gardenia here feels more bold and intense. Sometimes I find the EDP version a bit flat or even slightly boring after frequent use, while Édition Soir adds a musky, slightly animalic dimension that makes it more interesting. 8.2/10

Oh my! This is my first animalic perfume and I had no idea what to expect. Then I spritzed it on and, after my Scarlet O'Hara worthy swoon, I cursed a bit because I was going to have to figure out how to write about it without using the utterly tacky "pantydropper". It's a perfume that resonates on a very basic level. Core drives. The sort of response promised by pheromone perfumes. The actual scent is a very sexy musk, but I hesitate to call it a musk since I'm more familiar with that as a base note vaguely anchoring other scents. This is a scent in it's own right. The gardenia and floral notes are there, but they aren't calling attention to themselves. They're well blended and not the main show. The oakmoss is powdery and a good step away from the damp forest floor scent that's all too common lately. A slight sweetness. I love this perfume, and my loves list is far shorter than my likes. As for who can wear it and where, I have no idea. For me this could be a dailywear, a "dang you smell amazing" scent that I want all the time. I could see others considering this an "only with lingerie" scent. It's not a perfumy perfume; I can't see it as a compliment getter unless you're in a pick-up type setting. This one is getting noticed rather than asking for attention. A very special scent.

This is by far my favorite of the La Panthere line! Like the OG, it starts off on a fruity note, but the whole composition here is more rounded, warmer and creamier than the og's. The oakmoss here isn't screechy at all, it flutters like a forest-green cashmere scarf in a wind that carries the breath of a garden of white and purple flowers. Yes, I think there are iris and violet here, which create the impression of leather, face powder, lipstick, and a mink stole draped over an elegant woman's shoulders. Due to this combination of notes, the Soir edition is, IMO, even more retro than the original La Panthere. It evokes the glittering charm of the roaring twenties, with their Art Deco style, marcelled hair and the sound of jazz coming from the smoky speakeasies. Also, I'm happy to say, I've got no headache while wearing this version of La Panthere! It's one of the creamiest perfumes I've ever come across, and it performs beautifully on my skin. A new favorite!❤️

The newest version of La panthère, le parfum, was an instant love and has made me stop to re-consider others in the line. Whereas the original EDP starts with fruity-floral-shampoo musks, the Edition du soir scales back on these notes and seems to have a slightly stronger accent on the creamy, lactonic musks. They are similar, but the 'soir' version is less fruity, with more unctuous florals before moving into the familiar mossy-woody base. My husband commented that it smells vintage - but in a good way. It has a femme fatale, film noir vibe but modernised. However, it is not hard to wear and people nervous about chypres can try this safely. It has as much in common with Narciso as it does with Mitsouko. I have to say that Mathilde Laurent has struck gold with this lovely tension between fruit, creamy florals and mossy base in this line.

The panther wants to get out and play... this is the fragrance to wear when you want to have fun... the kind of sexy fun that grown women get to have. This is not for the faint-hearted. Yes, you will be noticed, and yes you will make a statement. Not everyone will like it, but that's kinda the point. It is complex, it is poetic, and it is a daring, sexy, almost sexual fragrance. I own both the original La Panthere and the Soir version, and I do not smell too much of a difference. To me, the Edition Soir is slightly more floral, less musky, and animalistic than the original. It is softer, and less "aggressive" than the original on my skin. Anyway, they're both absolute beasts of a scent. I love how it lingers on my skin the morning after... and reminds me of the fun I had the night before :p

This excerpt from one of my favorite books, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, describes the feelings that this scent evokes for me quite perfectly. This is neither powdery nor reminiscent of makeup to me. It is straight up floral + animal skunk. In the best way imaginable. It is what I like to imagine Glenn Close's character would have worn in Fatal Attraction. I wanted to vomit when I first tried it, but now I can't get enough.

QUITE MUSKY _______________________________________________________ Today i tried 'LA PANTHERE EDITION SOIR' and it just blew me away. In the beginning i couldn't quite understand what I sensed, but after the alcohol disappeared, some hints of oakmoos and gardenia become palpable but soon after make room for the musk. The musk becomes seductively predominant and stays there until the end. It reminded me to 100% of Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez (the milky-white bottle). It is very luxurious and I fell for it - in my opinion however it is not feminine at all (rather unisex). Longetivity: - 9/10 Sillage: - 9/10 All in all: 10 out of 10 subjective points (because I love Narciso)

I prefer this over the already-gorgeous EDP. Why? Well, it’s a full-bodied gardenia with its musty and indolic facets. I got wary of buying one since most of reviews I’ve perused mentioned it not warranting substantial differences from the original. Surely, Mme Laurent isn’t stupid to have released something identical. I’d have to take note that comparing them side by side made me anosmic to the differences probably due to the salvo of power accords. However take time to smell them at different intervals; this one is mightier, more glamorous and of course hated by the ones who wants to smell artificially fresh. A patchouli nuclear bomb.

For those wondering about the animalic quality in this perfume, I'd say it leans toward the indolic type of animalic. While I find that rotting indolic smell challenging in most perfumes (think tiare flower indols), this one is perfection. More ripened, less rotting. I've had this perfume for quite a few years now and as it mascerates it just gets better and better. That animalic quality fizzes in the softest and gentlest way possible. It really is like a cat purring. While I generally lean toward unisex fragrances, this one just hits me with all the feels. A true work of art and it's easily in my top five fragrances of all time.

I reviewed Edition Soir a couple months ago after getting it as a random free sample. I really liked it; it smells like a sexy, mature woman to me. But since I am only one of those things (not saying which one), I didn't think it was very "me" and ended up selling the sample. I recently found myself wanting to sniff Edition Soir again, so I bought another sample and dang, DANG, I don't care that this isn't "me." Would I rather smell it on a sexy, mature woman? Sure, but sometimes you have to be your own sexy, mature woman, and that's okay.

My first perfume loves were the power chypres of the 1970s (Mom wore Givenchy III and Aromatics) and that may explain why I am mesmerized by this fragrance. This is such a unique scent unlike most current perfumes I own. The opening is simply exquisite with the Gardenia, patchouli, touches of leather and Oakmoss, and sensual musk.The dry down is pure elegance. It does remind me of the graceful beauty of a cat with that underlying element of wildness. The Edition Soir is a beauty that I much prefer to the fruity OG.

This is very different from the other scents I own, which all seem to have a strong vanilla note. This smells very fresh to me. During the dry down I seem to smell patchouli, but that does not show in the notes, so it must be the musk. I sense oakmoss, but hardly any gardenia. I have gotten compliments on this, which is hardly ever the case, as my skin absorbs almost any scent there is. It lasts very long on clothing. The bottle is beautiful. A keeper for me.

Now, I've tried and test three of the current variations from this line - La Panthere edp, La Panthere Legere edp and La Panthere Edition Soir. And the last one was the one that I took back home with me. La Panthere Edition Soir was the winner for me. It is bit more creamy, sweet and slightly powdery. The Gardenia is very noticeable. The original edp was more bitter, herbal and green,but also beautiful. Love them all.

smath778 I think the perception of animalic elements is highly subjective. Personally, nothing particularly animalic in this to my nose. Only an intoxicating gardenia. A tropical flower in the jungle at night - so intense, it’s almost nutty. Again, that’s to me, but I can see people smell all sorts of different things.

Smells like absolute opulence. I can’t see people voting this as feminine, it’s perfectly unisex, or at least a boss man in a black suit could easily and unquestionably pull this off. Reminds me of some middle eastern scents I’ve tried, not like a typical rose Oud but if oud was a listed note in this I could see it.

Superior scent! Although I have the original Panthere and have great similarities, the evening version is as sweet, playful, strawberry (though there are no similar notes in the composition). Smells classy, sophisticated, expensive cosmetics, makeup, lipstick. I love it and is among my top 5 stylish perfumes!

I love this and I want this. Much powdery a little dark and fruity but in the old-fashioned way. Very long-lasting with good sillage. Feminine and luxurious and so different like other mainstream perfumery hits. The bottle wonderful. Good job Mathilde.

I love this one. To me this is more night blooming jasmine rather than gardenia. It’s a heavy indolic musky sweet floral with lots of amber and somewhat leathery. Reminds me of Grand Soir. More unisex or even masculine rather than femme.

La panthere Edition Soir is the only perfume that I really loved in the last two years. She is so special, vibrating, warm and very different. When you want to be cool and very sexy, this is the right fragrance.

I get a creamy velvety gardenia surrounded by animalic notes and moss . Absolutely gorgeous and sophisticated. I have the original Panthere EDP and love it too

I am a guy and I would wear this until my mind is completely gone. This is a masterpiece! I've gone feral over this beautiful thing. It's not even funny.

The opening on this is just enchanting and is the killer differentiator. The drydown is much more musky/animalic then La Panthere.

is it similar to La Panthere edp (original verson)?

I can't make my mind up about this! I bought it because I love Narciso EDP white cube, and some people say this smells similar. I'm still on the fence about whether it smells similar or not or if I even like it! I haven't smelled the original La Panthere, and I know Edition Soir hasnt got dried fruits listed as a note, however straight away when spraying this, I get dried red fruits, like strawberry and raspberry. Very interesting as I've never smelled such a realistic dried fruits note in a fragrance! The opening is also almost sparkling like the feeling of champagne bubbles, but I find that does dissipate a bit. The musk is not fuzzy and cosy as some musks can be, but almost sharp and sort of dusty. It's very unusual. The gardenia is creamy but it's almost hard to smell it, like I need to smell through the musk to get to the creamy gardenia. I do get the earthy and mossy vibes, but perhaps that is from the gardenia as I can find the note of gardenia to be quite earthy. This almost gives me the feeling of potpourri, with that very dry and dusty floral and musk blend. Whilst I can see the comparisons to Narciso, I have to continually smell my skin for a few moments to get the similarity. When I catch the scent sillage briefly on myself it doesn't smell similar to Narciso to me. Longevity is weird too, when I first bought it, I remember I wore it in the spring on a warm day on clean skin, did some cleaning and the longevity was terrible, it lasted 4 hours maximum and then it was completely gone from my skin. However, I wore it to bed once on clean skin and it lasted eternally through the night, I feel like it woke me up a few times and I found it really unpleasant! Maybe there is some element of anosmia going on for me? I still haven't made my mind up on whether I like it. I go between a liking and then feeling ambivalent towards it. I do find it really intriguing though and I can't stop smelling my wrists when I wear it, I keep trying to work it out. I don't think it's a safe blind buy and it's discontinued so can be expensive to source. I am tempted to see if I can test the original and see how I feel about it. I seem to get really different facets of it when I wear this fragrance, the scent when I catch it in the air smells completely different to up close on my skin and then the longer I smell it on my skin, the more I like it (and the more it resembles Narciso), it's very unusual!

It does have a vegetal aspect to it as it settles on skin, I was reminded of a couple of Annick Goutals that do this, that is to say one has to keep the faith until the real deal arrives. It does arrive and it is lovely after fifteen minutes. That flicker of strawberry or rhubarb is so clever because it's not constant, it delivers in little puffs with your body chemistry. I would venture to suggest that this is best on freshly showered skin and definitely not if there's any faded perfume on your skin beforehand. I have owned Legere for a few years now, is much loved by me. If I can get past that vegetal opening (I think it's Muguet) well, we're sweet.

Panthere stripped of its fruity effervescence and imbued with the skankiest most animalic aspects. The gardenia is heavily indolic, feels a touch dusty too. Very much a panther's roar as it subdues its prey. Perfect for cold weather, this is not for warm weather or the faint-hearted. Projects very loudly, will definitely last long.

Oakmoss and white flowers coming for a first plan. It has a a vintage scent in it. Reminds my a lady from 80's in her Mazda with plastic jewerly accessories, leather jacket and strong 80/90's make up.

This is quite a designer gem! A little sour in the opening, but it dries down to a beautiful, “dirty” gardenia musk. Contemplating on a full sized bottle..

As much as I love the original EDP and this one, I am kind of disconcerted by the fact the the two smell really similar to each other. A little too similar to justify a flanker. There is nothing particularly extra 'soir' about this, since the original EDP is such a masterpiece that it will register like a opulent and insidious night perfume any way you slice it. This one is the same. I cannot even detect a strong amplified floral newness here. It is primarily that expensive gardenia that somehow smells animalic, as it was before. And oakmoss is just as potent, not any more or less. I wish this had something else in it to offer a unique flanker experience. Vanilla, suede, some type of wood or spice like cumin? I don't know... something more. Hate to say it, but this will be quite the redundant purchase if you already have the original EDP in your collection. Still gorgeous though. EDIT: Soir smells a bit more lipstick-y than the original EDP. A touch more synthetic in a makeup smell sort of way. Still, very much the same perfume imo.

Well..to be honest...I bought this in a eBay auction, thinking I was bidding on the regular Panthere, not this Soir version....OOPS !!! But, I only noticed AFTER I had won the auction. I had sniffed and love the regular Panthere (newer version,not the vintage). I really do like the Soir version so far. It is a "sparkling" gardenia-ish scent. Maybe a "modern" chypre feel ...?? I somehow get a little tuberose feel as well. It is not an over-powering scent. The sillage/longevity is in the medium range to my nose.There is just that something about this scent that makes it really work for me. However....I may still have to buy the first version too,seeing as they are different enough to own both..IMO. My next Cartier will probably be Baiser Vole EDP....then i would like to test out the new one called Baiser Fou. All in all....I give a happy, sparkling 8 out of 10 to this scent....BTW...I love the bottle, and great sprayer too !!!

Nothing animalic about this scent. I loved it when I first smelled it and I found it more uplifting and pleasant than the edp- from the original flanker version. And I say flanker because the true original la panthere by Cartier was released in the early 80s and was created by Alberto Morillas. This perfume has a sparkling strawberry note mingled with a dissonant oakmoss accord. This olfactory chord of these two is dissonant if you smell your wrist up close, however it is delicious when smelled from afar. I say this perfume could be the best improvement on the Armani si edp formula without the sour wine note of the latter. 😊 Warm regards to all!

I could only indulge in one Panthere and saw this one for a bargain price. So I went to Cartier and tested them and think they are all fantastic. Now I own Edition Soir and on my skin it is a very pretty and deep smelling gardenia, without the fragrance being overwhelming. Not too rich, pushy, feminine. Rather it has the impact of a well done perfume oil. This is NOT a kitchen sink variety of notes and is extremely easy to wear. And how chic is the bottle! Soft projection but it's a floral that happens to work well on body hair and sticks around there for a day. In sum, a wonderful gardenia perfume.

I purchased it by mistake instead of the OG which I love, and I was so disappointed upon the inital spray that I thought I wouldn't use it at all. The original La Panthere is like sparkling strawberry champagne with some dried fruits, but this one has skanky animalic notes in the opening and feels less playful somehow. Luckily, once it settled on my skin after twenty minutes or so it started to remind the OG way more. Still, if the original La Panther is playful, this one is a very serious, no nonsense cat. I think this flanker is more suitable for colder weather.

I bought this version blind off eBay for a great price. I love the original it's very beautiful and powerful. Soir edition just disappears on my skin even if I press my nose to my wrist after 30 minutes poof it's gone!. I wouldn't recommend this version unless you want to sample it first as I don't think it's worth the high price. If I hadn't of got it at a good price I would of passed. I will use up my bottle fast as I've stated it doesn't last and I keep spraying throughout the day.

This is quite different somehow! It has that gluey sticky sweet essence. Somthing sweetish with hint of baby powder and does of glue, pink floral, and dark factor that makes it soir eligible. I've always thought and still thinking cartier does quite an impressive fragrances as a designer brand, they use fairly quality ingredients and their blends ideas are quite on the niche side with their unusual creativity.

I admit it: I blind bought it based on glowing reviews here and because the bottle is so stunning. It was not a mistake, exactly: this fragrance is perfectly pleasant. However, I am getting nothing that would remind me of either the body or personality of a panther. This fragrance is thin, reedy, slightly sour, and vaguely vegetal. A more fitting name might be "La Praying Mantis".

This is the fragrance I have been looking for! There is a strong scent of tea when I first apply which lasts a few minutes. After that disappears, soft musk, oakmoss, florals, and powder really come through and dance together. It is very sweet, but soft, and not candy like at all. It's comforting and very present. I am definitely going to try the other versions.

My first thought after spraying this on for the first time in a long while is: (Linda Belcher voice) “this perfume is skanky and a little stanky!” Seriously though, another reviewer here mentioned Narciso Rodriguez as a partial comparison, and I agree. It’s like if they made a dirtier version of the Narciso Rodriguez EDP, but it’s not even that dirty.

I haven't owned one of these Panthere fragrances for a while, but coming back to Edition Soir, I appreciate even more what a work of genius it is. Opulent floral, mossy, animalic, long lasting, like nothing else on the market. Great bottle too, and price is very reasonable, bearing in mind its strength.

This looks and starts in a similar manner to La Panthere edp classical one, but it's way too musky to digest it. It's sharp and intoxicating, smells like some kind of condiment, can't put my finger on it. I love the original one, but i'll definitely pass this flanker.

I agree with the comment below. Yes, it contains orange candy, feminine musk, and a touch of makeup powder. You might not notice this makeup powder on yourself, but when someone else uses the perfume, it gives you the scent of a woman with heavy makeup.

A generous fragrant friend recently gifted me a large decant of this beauty and it is a beautiful scent. It reminds me of a nicer Byzance mixed with Narciso (White bottle). A yummy sweet gardenia on a peppery chypre base. Delicious juice!

Today I compared this version with the Original edp, and I could clearly tell them apart. The Original is sophisticated and chic, but the edition soir is much more flowery and, I am sad to say, too sweet. Not for me, this flanker.

Almost similar to La Panthere EDP Legere, but with an extra dose of skank. Super animalic, definitely mature, and acquired taste. I would not recommend Edition Soir nor La Panthere EDP to anyone under 30. Both are ultra-femme.

Like the destination, hate the getting there. “Carnal floral” indeed — once the top notes (LOTV and oakmoss?) take a cab home early. The sweet, musky heart keeps Panthere Soir in my collection. Best on rainy days?

J’ai porter la Panthere Classique que j’ai adore et puis j’ai découvert celle ci: l’édition soir <3 Un amour! Bcp plus crémeuse et chaude que la version edp classique. Une panthere pour l’hiver! Addictif !!!

Plus je la porte plus je lui trouve des similitudes avec Red Giorgio Berverly Hills dans l’assechement, sans doute la mousse de chêne... J’aime à la folie ces deux parfums!
