Panthere de Cartier Eau Legere

Vintage review of bottle pictured. For a 1987 bottle it doesnt scream 80s. Grapefruit and mandarin mix with the orange blossom and gardenia..which, to some people give off a shampoo citrus orange blossom vibe, but its more than the opening. Its richer, has a presence but never heavy like an 80s floral. The white florals are watery light, freesia and jasmine takes the lead so its light for a summers day. The sandalwood gives it a slightly spicy support. It could also be as modern as today, which in 1987..something like this would almost veer into the floral aquatic genre. Its a delicate, feminine scent. Its very well blended so it has an identity of its own and the aquamarine juice with the adorable clear cat on the top is just a stunner.

I am so puzzled about this one. I bought a vintage tester for Eau Legere some time ago. Totally loving it: it has amazing sillage and longevity and is so well blended, that I cannot make out the individual notes. But also: Eau Legere is almost identical to Mugler's Angel. How can this be? The notes are quite different, and no-one else has commented on this similarity - which could also be due to Eau Legere being a rarely used scent. Now I have sprayed Eau Legere on one wrist and Angel on the other. Okay, I do smell the difference. Eau Legere is more dryish and flowery, while Angel is more sweet, heavy and dense. Angel's sillage is also stronger. Do try to compare, if you have the opportunity. My Angel is circa from 2012.

Charming and feminine, floral and powdery. It's so well-blended that I have trouble picking out individual notes. The top notes are citrusy. I smell an unusual flower, and from what I have read about karo karounde, I believe that's it. Its scent is described as "almond-like". I can see that. Sort of like heliotrope, but more exotic. Maybe some freesia and orange blossom too. I would categorize this as a powdery spring floral. The bottle is gorgeous. Even if I am wearing another fragrance regularly, I will always leave this one on my dressing table to show off. The multi-faceted, cool, aquamarine bottle topped with Cartier's signature panther is really stunning. They don't make bottles like this anymore!

This fragrance is a perfect spring scent...it is one of the best florals I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. A subtle white floral, not a punch to the nose, very fresh and romantic without being too green or too sweet for my tastes. Another thing I like about it is that I can detect the sandalwood and tonka bean almost immediately. I don't get much jasmine at all, mostly gardenia and freesia with a hint of orange blossom. This classic is perfectly balanced, beautiful, and very elegant. I've been wearing it for over four hours and it is still amazing me!

To my nose, this is an extraordinarily smooth take on orange blossom, with a hint of a soft powdery musk that I imagine as the clean soft fur behind a panther's ears. Soft and composed, it wears like a light cashmere sweater.
