Greenbriar 1968

I ADORE this scent. The CB I Hate Perfume Olfactory offers (or at least currently as of 2026 offers) free tours and I went with my boyfriend and smelled the entire current lineup. It was a wonderful experience and I bought two bottles, this being one of them. The note that struck me the most was (according to CB himself) the machine oil accord. I couldn’t pick it out at first but when he explained it it was really easy to look for. I went to farm camp as a child and this smell is so nostalgic for me. The hay reminds me of the stables and the fields always smelled like the green notes in this, I even get a note of old barn. It’s also a lovely spring or summer scent which is what I was looking for and everyone I show it to really likes it. This is a perfume that has real artistic element that transports you to another place. Wonderful perfume, wonderful experience, 10/10

This perfume made me fall in love with scent as an art. Maybe it was because it was a special time in my life when I discovered it, but nothing transports me the way Greenbriar does - green and yellow, fresh and warm. I get hay, grass, dew, warm wood, sawdust, wet dirt. Sunlight filtering through a shed on the first warm day of the year. I don't think this is a scent to wear as an accessory, it's an experience.

On me this is straight up sweet, green hay with a subtle floral note. Sort of a creamy too, like vetiver or oats? Might be the cotton flower I'm picking up, not sure. Reminds me of Jo Malone Green Wheat and Meadowsweet, but Greenbriar It's fresher, greener, and way more natural, minus the sweetness, incense, or "perfume" quality of the Jo Malone. Only downside for me is that Greenbriar is much sweeter and way more powdery than I expected. I almost always hate powdery frags across the board, but found it to be a tollerable sacrifice in this one for the absolutely intoxicating natural meadow smell. Couldn't pick up any woody or leather notes, but still happy with it. Leans slightly fem to me, but would be enchanting on anyone it suits. Not FB worthy for me because of the powder, but will enjoy my sample. Edit: Went for a drive in the mountains last week and when I opened the car door, my nose was flooded by the exact, and I mean EXACT smell of Greenbriar -- so much so that I thought "wait, am I wearing Greenbrian rn?" and had to sniff myself to make sure. One of the most photorealistic frags I've ever experienced. Smells exactly like a sunwarmed mountain meadow with wildflowers. Will have to think more about this one. Edit2: Worn a few more times and loved it until my partner said I smelled like "A fresh clean baby with powders on it." Oh well.

was excited about this at first, it's not bad but as the other reviews say i'm missing the sawdust, hay, leather, tobacco etc smell from it and got too much sweetness than i bargained for. I'm also a sweet hater so it's definitely not strong but i wasnt expecting the fruitiness to be more prominent than the woodsy notes on my skin.

The first waft out of the bottle that I get, is the "Forest Floor" scent, of a Tatine candle .. or Demeter's "Dirt" fragrance .. the not-unpleasant, earthy smell of a damp, unfinished cellar. While I do love this particular scent, (having lived in a small lakefront cottage for 20 years, and the damp was just everywhere 24/7 )and am happy to have it .. the scent never budges from it. I don't get any of the sawdust, hay, leather gloves, pipe tobacco, or cotton. Just damp earth. This was a decant, and I can't help but wonder, if the gifter didn't shake the bottle up before decanting it .. because I only get the one note .. :)

I instantly pick up the mossy dirt and grass in this scent, and possible a hint of the sawdust. So far, so earthy. This scent feels a little flat compared with other fragrances from this House, and I would love to be able to pick up rich leather and tobacco notes but they just don't seem to be there or else evaporate before I can pick them up. Sillage is minimal and the scent only lasts for a couple of hours then needs a top up. Oddly enough, once the initial spritz has evaporated, I'm left with a scent reminiscent of Michael Kors' original female fragrance. I don't know how that's possible, but there it is!
