La Peau Nue

I wasn’t sure how I felt about this one at first. These are some of my favorite notes. Celine is my favorite house for fashion, so I really needed at least a miniature perfume for my collection. So I chose this one to try. Upon first wearing, I thought it smelled very retro vintage, 40s, 70s & 90s a bit green, earthy, with hint of cigarettes. I was getting more citrus, tobacco, powder, a little astringent. Reminded me of a vintage Chanel Cristalle EDP which does actually have some similar notes. I had sampled & did not care for that on me & sold ... However, upon second wearing, I get the ROSE! Red rose to me. & now my nose is making sense of it more as a powdery rose boudoir scent, a little bit smoky, earthy ... & it’s getting sexier & more mysterious. Just goes to show, keep trying it ... I think it had to warm up also into room temp from the cold mail. & then your skin should be warm too to try it. So, I wonder what it will do in warmer season. I like it now for winter though. & I’ve been wearing Putains des Palaces a lot this winter, and this is in the same vein, but no ginger or leather to overpower it, which is nice. and I might like this more with the beautiful romantic rose coming through when I’m in that mood. Sexy, red lipstick, powder, cigarettes. (I don’t smoke.) Less dirty than Putains des Palaces, more clean, creamy. Very French. This seems to sit close to skin. I’m appreciating it more & more. Might even become a fave.

I was excited to try La Peau Nue, Celine's take on an iris skin scent. In keeping with other Celine scents I've tried, this is understated elegance, high-quality and very French in style. The iris here is Chanel-like, powdery and refined à la No. 19 Poudré/Comète/La Pausa et al. It also brings to mind Diptyque Fleur de Peau and L'Eau Papier, and (to a lesser extent) Glossier You. LPN opens with the aforementioned powdery iris, strikingly reminiscent of the head of a newborn, as @Charlie2290 below says. The rice note adds a dry, paper-like quality to the iris as it develops, adding body. Some airy, powdery rose follows after a little while, adding a slight lipstick-y nuance to this scent, the perfect accompaniment to the iris. The vetiver drydown is remarkable, its dry woodiness complementing the iris-rose accord to perfection while making for a seamless progression from the papery rice note. It fades to a dry, powdery skin scent with vetiver lingering until final fade. Sillage is intimate and longevity is moderate. It is a feminine-leaning transeasonal scent. LPN is reminiscent of many other perfumes, but it is a beautifully-executed iris skin scent on a bed of vetiver. Limited price/performance ratio, but one of the nicest examples of the "your skin but better" genre that I've encountered. 4.5/5.

For me Celine have joined an elite group of designers who rarely seem to put a foot wrong with ultra chic, subtle and classical but still not devoid of creativity, perfume. La peau nue is very much in my wheelhouse and a pleasurable, powdery iris floral perfume it is too. There's a woody undercurrent without decending into papery, ionones which even a couple of the best Chanel iris/violet perfumes can have a tendancy to do. I've seen La Pausa in the smells like and without having smelled that in a while I'd say sure, okay, because the chanel synergy (without plagiarism) throughout Celine is evident. I think Polge made some of these didn't he? A minor critisism could be that this is almost too refined, refined out of existance and if you maybe want something which smells more of violet, iris/orris, luxury leather handbags and cosmetics, lipsticks etc... there are other fragrances which fulfill that brief better. That's me playing devils advocate though because for me this strikes the perfect, quiet, unassuming tone, I think it's a lovely perfume.

If this and Black Tie had a baby it might be my dream scent. Where Black Tie is a bit too vanilla forward with not enough Iris ...the Iris here is stunning. I love how dry, fluffy and powdery it is. I am guessing the combo with the rice powder punches up the rooty effect. I was apprehensive about the rose ...but it lends a light dusting of sweet floracy that isn’t too aggressive (similar to Narciso white cube’s rose). I am also not missing the violet that so often accompanies Iris. Sillage is very intimate (even in the opening) and the performance is average making the high price hard to swallow. But it does feel elegant and the quality is apparent. The citrus undertone is very understated and I only picked it up a few hours in where it brings a bit of astringent brightness into the mix. The vetiver is grounding and adds some earthiness to all the fluff. For me this is gorgeous and easily a love...I just hate the price. A beautiful but very pricey powdery skin scent.

Such an enticing, perfect name for this fragrance. La Peau Nue smells like skin that has been freshly bathed and moisturised with an ordinary lotion, perhaps Nivea or Pond's, but it's like a memory of this scene, idealised and romanticised, Vaseline-lensed, the fog still on the mirror. Because of the suggestion of nudity, I find this fragrance subtly sexy, in an intimate rather than carnal way. The opening is my favourite, when the iris smells more rooty and cold, kind of how lotion is cold. The fragrance grows more powdery as it settles, the rose finely milled, lending the lightest pinch of pink. I sometimes struggle with powdery or makeup-y fragrances, but this is quite special to me in that it flirts with the past, yet feels modern. The bottle is beautiful--timeless with elegant, considered details. Maybe I'm just lusting, but I may have to add this to my wish list.

Celine La Peau Nue (2019) - Musky Floral - A skin-scent that feels like silk on bare shoulders - intimate, airy, and quietly magnetic. A perfect fragrance for those drawn to the old money aesthetic; understated luxury wrapped in quiet confidence. It opens with refined iris root and soft powdery notes, evoking the scent of timeless elegance. Soft but never faint, it carries a bright, earthy undertone that adds depth and poise. I’ve completely fallen for it; it’s been on constant rotation lately. The rose is beautifully subtle and well-blended, adding a gentle floral nuance without dominating. A rice-y note is present too, though blended so seamlessly into the composition that it feels perfectly natural; enhancing the texture rather than standing out on its own. It starts off soft, airy, powdery. There is a hint of a vetiver undertone, though it stays just as a hint, never overpowering. Settles into a rounder, fuller scent. Comforting, feminine and boudoir-like. I think about an art deco bathroom. Lipsticks and powder on the vanity. A retro bathtub with lion feet. Rose petals fill the water. Later on, it has a sugar icing ring to it that escapes occasionally. Makes me feel like a 70s femme fatale, accurate to the intention of its creator. I wear this to work, to play, to bed - it's really an all occasion comfort scent to me. Very good projection and lasting power.

Thmsyssf said it beautifully... perfectly fantasized version of gorgeous naked skin. La Peau Nue in combination with one’s pheromones would have anyone bite their lips. This is an elegant, soft, delicate, creamy, musky, powdery, lipsticky makeup iris scent. It’s not dry nor vegetal, but you really do smell the texture of the rice, you just feel like you are emersed into a cloud of rice powder under soft, clean, white bed sheets. So sensual, intimate and kissable. This fragrance makes my eyes rolls into the back of my head. Pure femininity in a bottle.

I somehow just love this one so much. To me it smells like rice. Well cooked, yummy, fluffy rice with a hint of milk. It is just so delicious. It is a more linear scent but it doesn’t bother me one bit because it is just one of the smells that almost have a warm temperature to it and they are extremely comforting. Performance wise I think this is actually one of the longer lasting ones out of the Celine range, but it is definitely more on the delicate and intimate side. I find this scent unique and classy :)

Trademark Celine. If I had to pick one perfume from the line to reflect the brand it would be this one. The powdery soft, buttery, woody orris root that is at the core of most Celine perfumes is almost stand-alone here. It's elevated with something freshening, quite sneezy, so aldehydes or Iso E Super but it's the beautiful iris that leads with support from distinct vetiver (second in prominence despite the voting) and old-fashioned rice powder creaminess.

To me, this gorgeous scent sits somewhere between La Pausa and Misia. It has some of the rooty, green aspects of the former and a bit of the cosmetic powderiness of the latter. Because of that it manages to be "friendlier" than La Pausa but not overly "make up" like at the same time. The final drydown is a lovely, transparent bed of musks and vanillic sweetness that lingers.

I fell in love with this so hard. I’ve been pining for months just to make this purchase. I think it’s finally time to take the plunge soon because I honestly don’t know if I could exist without it any longer! Saving my coins up for this. This is one of the best ‘skin scents’ I’ve ever tried. It’s delicate, intimate, and truly ethereal. Edit: Bought it. I'm smitten.

The real magic of La Peau Nue is in the drydown. Yes, the opening is beautiful soft, powdery orris and rice notes. But wait. In the base is the most stunning unisex vetiver and lemon that lasts and lasts. I sprayed last night at 10pm and 9 o’clock this morning the base of La Peau Neu is still going strong. Absolute quality and elegance.

My hunt for the perfect powdery perfume is over, La Peau Nue is the one. Powdery, creamy, the right combination of notes, not too sweet like many powdery perfumes tend to be. Vetiver adds a special touch. I couldn't be happier and it's not often that I am so overwhelmed by a new release.

Smooth, creamy, lovely iris and tonka skin scent. Spray a bit more and it develops some silliage, especially on a warm day. Reminds me of a cross between Replica Lipstick On and Heeley's Milky Musk. This is sensual yet comforting, too. I love it.

Like every Celine fragrance I've tried, this is well made and beautiful but ultimately boring, overpriced, and not very long lasting.

Very realistic vintage lipstick and makeup vibe but in a modern composition and elegant rich "your skin but better" profile.

This is the best iris perfume ever.

It’s very powdery lipstick rose scent. The more time passes more rose comes out with sweetness and still that powderness. It’s definitely the make up powder rose kind of scent. If you into that you will love it. I can also smell rice powder really we, the rice note is very similar to the creed love in white. Not comparing the fragrances just the note of rice powder. So I also tried Masque Milano and it’s different, very different, the only thing is the same is the makeup vibe and the L’Attesa is way more powdery, like a makeup dry powder compact and it pretty much stays that way and I actually hated it at the dry down, it’s almost vintage like scent. Celine has gorgeous rose dry down. It’s more similar to lipstick on by Maison Margiela but more niche quality, softer, more sweet rose. I remember not liking Lipstick On for its potent lipstick scent but Celine is not like that, it’s softer. I really do like it. I’m still waiting on Chanel la pausa sample to try and compare. Update with Chanel la pausa, still not it, it’s much better than L’Attesa and much more closer to Celine Le Peau Nue but the rose and may be rice powder in Celine is what makes it so pretty and special. Chanel la pausa is a little more green almost herby like dusty field flowers in a good way yet fresh.

Though it bears a superficial ressemblance to the rather tame Narciso and the rather delightful Castaña, La peau nue troubles me. The first time I wore it, the adjective "post-coital" came to my mind, unbidden, and a second wearing has not erased that impression. La peau nue, with its vanilla, iris and a hint of tobacco, smells of softness itself - mounds of cotton wool, feather pillows, nose to nape intimacy. Is it clean skin, or slightly sweaty skin, or just after a shower skin? I'm not sure, but the overall impression, though it should be rather beautiful, is repellant, like witnessing a private act. Not one I'll be wearing again.

I smell this and remember a spring morning - I’m fresh out the shower, I’ve put on a soft scented body lotion and I’m applying lipstick, getting ready for the day. Creamy, melts-on-your-skin orris and rosey lipstick. This feels like a hug and sits close to skin like one. One of the quietest perfumes I ever tried. Doesn’t really last much on me either, gone within a couple hours. I would get a bottle of this for those “no perfume” days but it’s just too pricey for what it is..

Soft and beautiful scent I prefer this than misia Chanel I own both and they share same make up powder vibe but this is even softer sillage than misia .i only bought the 100ml won’t buy it again cuz of the sillage way too soft for the price but don’t regret buying it. lasting performance is weak to moderate.rice notes and orris dominate which I love .i still hope the performance will changes the more I wear and the older the bottle we will see

I’m instantly thrown into a purse filled with lipsticks. This scent is close to the skin, powdery and very boudoir. The rose isn’t sweet, it adds to the delicate ness of the scent. The rice adds a very wheaty/granular and powdery aspect. It’s a fragrance that is hard to explain and to try out for yourself. This reminds me a lot of eau de lingerie by guerlain

I wanted to love this way more than I do... I find it weak and it doesn't last long. I adore the scent, and I still wear it almost every day however it is disappointing considering the price, I wouldn't purchase it again honestly which pains me to say because I really like it.

Testing my sample; smells like Jergens skin cream, gets very powdery and rooty as it dries down on my skin. Feels very clean, like your skin at its cleanest. I prefer scents like this in the warmer months, but you can wear this during any season. Sits at arms' length on me.

A real orris fragrance. More a makeup scent than a skin scent. Lipstick in a bottle! A little vintage to my opinion. If you love Vermeil by Bienaimé or Étoile d'Une Nuit by Goutal, you need to try it. Compatible with open space, perfect for work.

I love this one very soft and feminine

After reading all the great reviews endorsing this fragrance, I just cannot understand why I am not experiencing at least some of what others are. I received a mini yesterday and decided to wear it today. I am slightly disappointed as I can barely smell it, even when smelling directly where I applied. I put it on before getting dressed this morning, and could not smell it while having breakfast, so applied some more, quite a lot actually, before going to work. It is a chilly day today, and maybe this needs warmer temps to open up, or maybe this needs to be sprayed on to get the full effect. I will transfer some into an atomizer and see if it performs any better. Maybe this mini was adulterated, though I doubt it as the seller had lots of positive feedback on this fragrance. Still, I would now like to get a sealed factory sample to compare. It could also be me and that I am anosmic to this scent, in which case only time will tell. That has happened to me before with some other fragrances that I can now smell. Well, whatever the reason, as of this moment I'm happy that I didn't bb a bottle which I almost did last year before swearing off expensive bbs. I will update this review if anything changes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that at some point I'll be able to enjoy it as much as other users are now.

It had me. A sheer cloud of powder, soft and starchy, orris folding into warm basmati, something earthy yet see-through. A whisper of rose hums beneath—feminine, muted, like skin touched by warm field air rather than perfume itself. Dusty but clean, pretty intimate, but in the most effortless, casually chic way. But after five minutes on skin, the fragrance makes a turn. For the worse. Soap bubbles rise, crisp and white, washing away the warmth, the depth, the quiet, personal allure. What was once a tender, skin-like scent is now just scrubbed. Sanitized, stripped down, pleasant in the way fresh laundry is pleasant—neat, practical, lifeless. And not in a refined, aloof way, rather in an ultra boring, invisible way. It had me, and then it lost me.

I want to love it but there’s a bitterness in it that prevents me from being able to appreciate this. It’s also got this violet kind of vibe as well that bothers me like in Insolence...I don’t know...I just can’t figure this out... Otherwise, it is a very nice powdery and subtle scent. And the longevity is really good! 6-7 hours! The very dry down is lovely but that bitter note persists throughout the duration on my skin and it’s so sad 😞 Definitely a try first. Oh well...😔

This is a pretty dry scent it’s actually reminiscent of older lipsticks/makeup. I can’t get any bergamot or florals out of this but I do pick up the rice, orris, and vetiver. It’s a clean scent but not a scent profile I’d spend this much for a bottle.

Classic rice powder, iris and skin. Very like the drydown of Parfum d'Empire's beautiful Equistrius, but with an unpleasant sour/off note, less balance and poorer longevity. If you like this style of perfume, I suggest you try out Equistrius.

I had high hopes for this but it's kind of boring. The orris isn't particularly earthy or creamy, just a basic lipstick orris. There's a hint of rose and I don't get any rice. It's very faint as well.

The iris is classic make up borderline cheap plastic doll scent. Sillage almost non exist, longevity up to 6 hours on the skin. Overall.. why do you want to smell like cheap plastic doll? Why?

This is a very dry, dusty kind of bland iris scent. Side note it does not smell anything like Zara's Romance D'iris, as there is no violet here, and Romance D'Iris is a violet bomb.

Extremely powdery scent. The rose is fresh and discreet. Leans feminine, imo. Amber Molecule from The Perfumer's Story By Azzi is a better choice, imo.

This resembles paper, printers, and mineral water.

I had 3 of my friends try this scent. It was a unanimous dislike for the perfume. With 3 out of 4 scrubbing it off. This one is a no for me, as the notes in the perfume continued to fight each other and the end result is not a nice dry-down.

If you like smelling like a baby that just took a bath, this is your perfume. I personally don't like smelling like baby cologne or baby wipes. That's definitely not for me.

La Peau Nue is a scent profile I love, but one which I really struggle to wear. This is a classic "makeup powder" smell - pale shades of iris, rose, slightly lactonic rice, and some earthiness from the vetiver. Nothing here is at all musky or animalic. In fact, it's quite a cold, detached sort of white softness. Like porcelain. Extremely pretty and well done. But I find myself questioning when I would want to wear it. It's a little too retro for the office, and a little too formal for home. It also reminds me of a LOT of scents I've tried before - all of which are also very good. La Pausa by Chanel (which is sharper and earthier), Blanc Poudre by Heeley (which has added vanilla), Iris Perle by Les Indemodables (makeup powder + ylang and sea breeze), and Le Heure Convoitee by Cartier (extremely similar, with a strawberry note. fabulous). 4/5

'Skin-scents' are so subjective but this one's my fave. The savouriness of the rice pulls heavy on my skin which helps, stops it leaning too makeup-counter. It lasts on me too, with a close sillage, for 6+ hours. I'd understand the powder bomb in the opening being off-putting, but within a minute or two the dry down is gorgeous - smooth, creamy and comforting. No lactonic notes are listed but the composition is milky to me. I don't detect any waxiness, but maybe that's my nose :D Definitely not the best of the Celine line (Eau de Californie and Parade are superior in all aspects) but a beautiful easy scent if you enjoy Celine's orris-nuanced DNA. Will be my next buy from Celine as I've burned through about three samples. If I really want to show up, this layered with Chanel's CdR or La Pausa feels feminine and refined!

Ok after several wears I'm obsessed with this and going for a bottle. It is just a beautiful powder (and I don't love powder necessarily) and in contrast has a conventionally "masculine" quality, perhaps the vetiver and bergamot combo. I sometimes wonder if I'm smelling like someone's uncle. Though it states iris as a main player, it is not the buttery waxy earthy iris but the powdery presentation of it. L'Attesa, which it is being compared to. is dry and sour and though I adore L'Attesa also for some of the same reasons as La Peau, I would not say they are similar.
