Cereus No.4

According to LuckyScent the notes in Cereus No.4 are as follows: cedrat(citron), grapefruit, green apple, tagetes (marigolds), marine notes (calypsone?), galbanum, vetiver and papyrus. So yes, Natt, there are more than three notes here...MUCH more!! As a big fan of citruses (and their ilk) I am in love Love LOVE with this fragrance. So clean, so bright, so "shiny", so absolutely pure!!! The listed citruses are usually dry, sour or zesty. Here the crisp granny smith adds tart sweetness to a bright freshness; and the marigolds and "calypsone" keeps it clear and fresh like water but not overly "aquatic" with dry, soft flowery nuances. Amazing! The utterly green vegetal drydown is superb: galbanum's resiny almost powdery green "scream", here, is quieted to a softer feel (sotto voce); the vetiver is dry and clean, and the papyrus (a pulpy reed-like scent) adds just enough uniqueness to the other basenotes to keep it earthy, yet ethereal (in how it smells and feels, not how it lasts). For a citrus aromatic to last this long...there must be some quality ingredients and masterful blending here! I MUST own a bottle of this wonderful fragrance!!! To see (and smell) that must be simply amazing! This House is aptly named: their scents are rare, stunning beauties and it is a true scentophile pleasure to sniff and wear them. Cereus No.4 first caught my attention because of I have this fetish for wooden cap. It's just like Kenneth Cole Signature, but its scent doesn't do anything for me. This is not the same case with Cereus. Cereus No.4 is nothing like any Citrus Aromatic scents I have tried in the past. Even though there are only 3 ingredients listed but I smell more than that. By the way, I have no clue how the papyrus smells, so I am not gonna even bother trying to figure it out. Its opening note is super clean, fresh, and savory. Savory?! :)~ Yes, I smell something like fresh cut celery, juicy fresh apple bits, sweet orange, and a really mild spicy ginger. There may not be celery (or it's papyrus?!) but it does smell like it! It smells so tasty that I just wanna pour over ice and drink it. After about 15 minutes, the celery begins to disappear. The savory vibe is still there however. Oranges are still present, but not as prominent as this light ginger. In addition, I smell something rooty/woody; giving the scent a little maculine feel. OMG! It smells so good. I just wanna trade ALL of my citrus scents for one of this! Alright. So the scent is absolutely amazing. It s similar to Eau De Cartier at the base, but Cereus has way better opening. Now here is the problem. It's quite a niche fragrance, which means it's hard to find and expensive. Also, the lasting power is questionable as it is cologne on its label. For all citrus aromatic fans, this is the one to try; a must try!!! and do not miss it if you come across one. Update: Bought it and love it!

Cereus No. 4 is basically a men's version of D&G Light Blue pour Femme. Like Light Blue, the prominent notes are green apple, lemon, and wood (papyrus in this case). It's tart, sour, and smells quite natural to my nose. A rather light fragrance that stays very close to the skin. Perfect for hot weather.

I have decided that I will collect all of these Cereus masculines due to the great prices you can find online (cheaper than most low end designers now). I own 7 and decided to pick this up due to the great price. I was pleasantly suprised on how good this actually is. Now let me preface this with the fact that it does have performance issues from a sillage perpective. You may get a good 2-3 hours before it comes in to the skin; however, that isn't necessarily bad as I am learning. This is sharp and a bit metallic due to the apple/papyrus combination but not in a bad way. As one of the other reviewers pointed it this is not sweet at all. It is sort of a tart dry green apple with this sort of screechy note. It smells like there is vetiver or some woodsy/musky note in there also. This is sort of like Versace Eau Fraiche but it isn't sweet nor is it acquatic. For what you can get this for this is great for meetings, movies, church, family dinner or any other place where closeness to others may require a more subtle scent. As stated earlier I am beginning to learn that there are times where a nice aroma is more appropriate than filling a room or even having others that aren't a few inches away from you smell you. If those far away from you can smell you then you may be assaulting those close by. Scents like this Prada Infusion, Mugler Cologne, a nice Bvlgari scent may be appropriate given the environment and situation. Being fragrant could very way be better received. Anyway this is nice for the $20 or so dollars you will pay for a tester but would be nice even at a designer price.

So I've got you on my skin, and in my face, and in the brain where your fragrant compounds react with the excited verbal cortex producing this string of words trying to slither around your transient nature: You utter your opening chord to me in a cloying citrussy thrust, not much more, and nothing else but citrus. Citrus, citrus evrywhere, the vision gets really yellow with the tinge of something woody in the background - might it be the mentioned papyrus? ,cedar? And then, rather swiftly after the introduction, you lose your yellow intensity and transform yourself into citrusy weakling lingering onandonandon until the lemonade drydown. Now you are revealing yourself - you are a lemonade with the class, paper umbrella and sugar frosted glass. And mandatory wooden walking stick. You'll be gone with the gulp, maybe two. Cheers.
