1881 Silver

Classic, vintage beautiful scent. You still can wear this now suits old crowd very muscular perfume. This is belonging to Aramis,kenzo,quorum........family barber shop style.

I have 5 perfumes from the house. And that was my problem with this one. On its own the frag is good, fresh leaning towards barber shop but with the Cerruti 1881 for men signature. It's priced reasonably, performs quite good (6-7 hrs of longevity and ca 2 hrs of projection) and it has that bit of uniqueness that will make you stand out positively from the mainstream. It's not too strong, pleasant and can be easily worn with confidence. But as I have stated at the beginning, I own 5 other frags from Cerruti. And the Cerruti Silver on my skin is too similar to Cerruti 1881 for men EDT (smells kind of like a flanker). And eventually I like the original more. Hence for me it was a skip. Still I think it is a solid offer.

Sharp, minty lavender, something peppery, sharp citruses and moss. Has passing resemblance to OG, it's soapy barbershop clean. Slightly herbal. Pineapple is subtle and blended with the lemon and ginger in a way that makes it hard to discern. (Drydown has a note which reminds me of an old "Imperial Leather," soap bar. It was green and aimed at men, but no longer available.) Has some sandalwood too maybe? Platinum Egoiste kinda, at the start has a touch of Eau Sauvage Edp and a bit of Boss Bottled OG in the drydown, but is closer to CK Eternity edt most of all. Masculine scent, leans mature, best for spring days. Performance is middling, and when compared to OG feels a bit frustrating, like it never fully gets going.

I like this. It's nothing groundbreaking, but is a good fresh fragrance with a bit of an old school vibe. The ginger gives it a nod towards Bleu de Chanel, but I also get a bit of a fresh fougere thing going on in the vein of Drakkar Noir even though they don't really smell similar. I think its the Lavender in there. Performance isn't amazing but not bad either. I'm looking forward to trying this in the spring where I think it'll shine. All in all a decent freshie for people 30+.

Nice uplifting barbershop for spring, not too hot summer and autumn. It's very smoothly blended, kind like a refined aftershave. On my skin it last 5-6 hrs and projects mildly for 1-2 hrs. Can be bought for under 35 euros.

Lovely barbershop out-of-the-shower masculine fragrance. It's affordable, it's clean and metalic, aromatic and herbal.

A fragrance very reminiscent of my grandfather, but for some reason I don't dislike wearing it. It's a classic and clean scent that isn't too sharp or overbearing. Decent performance and very good value, $30 for a 4oz bottle is impressive with how sophisticated this scent is. It's not exactly something I would wear super often, but makes a great gift and a very approachable fragrance.

The other 1881's I own are: 'Men' - Top of the tree. A stone cold classic. 'Essential' - A miss, as far as I'm concerned. Too fruity. There's something 'schoolboy' about this one. 'Riviera' - A real hidden gem. A lovely mix of citrus, leather and woods. And then there's 'Silver'. Silver is quite a rare thing (in my collection anyway). It seems to cover all bases. Well. In many ways it's a 'catch all' fragrance. Summer, Winter, Office, Outside, Wedding, Wherever. No-ones ever going to be offended by it. Conversely, nobody's going to stop you in the street and ask what you're wearing and if they may sleep with you tonight. It's a kind of 'Modern loyal husband just doesn't want to smell bad' fragrance, but it's far from 'meh...' It's like a really nice, high quality antiperspirant that lasts half a day. When you don't live in 'Advertising Agency World' where we're all swimming The Atlantic after wrestling lions before parking our Ferrari outside the world's most exclusive rooftop restaurant for that midnight date with a top model, there's actually quite a call for a frag like Silver. I like it. A lot.

Very nice, fresh, woody-floral, with a unique aromatic-metallic overtone, but nothing like Egoist Platinum, and even less like Drakkar and Jazz, that's for sure! I just tested it and will buy it. Good work from Master Roucel!

Nice looking bottle and presently can be had for £25 in UK. I should add that this perfume came out 5 years too late as silver is usually associated with 25th anniversaries.

The majority of longevity votes are for very weak, and yet the majority of sillage votes are for enormous. Nicely done, people...
