Caprice De Sophie

very summery, citrusy and sweet floral scent. pleasant, not too strong. I don't really get any apple at all.

A pure, crystalline and almost transparent fragrance that is pretty and easy to wear. Notes of sweet apple give way to a slightly tart raspberry supported by a musky yet restrained jasmine. Under that are woody tones, but again very restrained. I also get sparkling tea like notes during the dry down. I wore this on a day when I had a headache but still wanted to wear a perfume and it was perfect. Sophie feels clean, innocent, simple but complete. I can see why people call it a fragrance for young girls, for those same qualities; but I think every one needs a fragrance like this in their collection. A non-challenging fragrance that is pretty and comfortable and wears close to skin. I tend to associate fragrances for young girls with sweet cloying synthetic notes like what you’d find in a drugstore fruity body spray. That’s what appeals to their taste and also their budget (or used to, before ten year olds starting getting Sephora Hauls). This isn’t that. Yes it has synthetics but so do almost all perfumes now. Most of them are good. I only object to them if they’re offensive or overpowering or super cloying, and this is the furthest thing from offensive. It’s not a big beast that will get a lot of attention but it is sweet and pretty and easy. People who like Versace Bright Crystal will likely enjoy this. Sophie wears close to skin and has a 4 hour duration.

I find this one pretty pleasant. Maybe I've been duped by the fancy Chabaud trappings, but I personally don't think it smells like a glorified bargain basement fragrance, like some others have said. I tried it around the same time as Caprice de Marie, so maybe that's why my response is much more favorable to Caprice de Sophie. It's subtle and charming, and the apple really does waft around in a pleasant way. It's not wildly innovative, no, but it gives pleasure, for sure, and that's not always the case! Won't be getting a full bottle, but I'll definitely use my sample.

Super fruity-in-your-face, bubbly, summery, sweet and young. Borderline gourmand. Noticeable apple and berries with powdery white flowers. (If you replace this apple here with strawberry, you will get Miss Dior Cherie I think) CMDP is too expensive with its prices though, for a consumer not to be able to find a cheaper alternative such as DKNY, Escada and Nina Ricci. This scent is super tasty and happy, but is it That original and affordable? Not really.

Opens with a sweet apple and ripe raspberries. I can smell freesia as well, but the kind in full bloom - no green notes detectable, only more sweetness. It's not sticky or cloying, but juicy and fresh. Keeps very close to the skin. I really like this one, it's girly and sweet but not musky. Most fruity mixes have a strong musky undertone, but this one is different (and better).
