Lait et Chocolat

Step 1- an immediate bakery smell after they just baked some vanilla custard pastry Step 2- a super realistic dark chocolate scent. Photo-realistic even... Step 3- Raw cocoa powder - I really had an urge to lick it off my skin, which never happened before and I`m a gourmand perfume fan. It feels nearly unfair that after giving you such realistic tasty food smells there is no real food to follow :) Outstanding. The sweetness organically lands on something floral- I cannot idenitify the jasmine here to be honest, but the light floral ending gives it even more class. There is -some- conifer somewhere but all I can really smell is this lush totally edible, gourmand masterpiece. I thought their Lait Concentre was great, but this one, omg.... I consider CMDP a bit overpriced but I am seriously considering buying a bottle of this. P.S No, it does not smell like Chocolate Greedy by Montale with its milk chocolate and Middle Eastern oud.

This is my favourite for the range and one of my favourite chocolate scents. It is a little like the smell of uk kit kat chocolate bars, followed many hours later by a beautiful lactonic vanilla (which I prefer to both the vanilla and the lait perfumes from the same range, even though I assume they must have a lot in common). It's a cosy scent. Not a scent for serious bitter dark chocolate lovers so much. The equivalent of a warm snuggly jumper and a nice hot drink. Not as well known as it should be and the stand out gourmand from the range, even though lait de biscuit, also lovely but a little more spicy, seems to be the most popular.

This doesn’t just smell like dairy infused Nestle/Milo cocoa powder in those cylinder containers. Rather think of some in a cup mixed with hot water and cow’s milk (yes the particular scent that makes cow’s milk distinct to vegan options). The smell of the steam from that cup is what this smells like! I think I get the “steam” because this is still easy on the nose while being food-like, but diluted enough to be wearable. Great chocolate, milk, vanilla. The vanilla makes it more of a perfume in the dry-down, possibly also the floral and wood listed but they’re not noticeable. Very intimate but moderately lasting on me.

At first it smelled like a Nutella milkshake made with vanilla ice cream with extra Nutella, but as it dries down it smells more wearable with the freshness of jasmine to make it less dense. Definitely sweet and gourmand but not sickly. The chocolate is delicious and not too thick and slightly musky and nutty. I like that the chocolate becomes drier as it wears. I personally don’t get the woody notes but I don’t mind. I like that it’s a moderate performer and not too strong, because I wouldn’t be able to handle it if it was. Edit: I can see where people say it’s pastry like. It gives a chocolate croissant vibe.

Lait et Chocolate is one of the closest to realistic gourmands I have smelled. It is a very rich, fatty piece of milk chocolate or a glass of milk chocolate (not cocoa), with a very buttery biscuit cookie filled with rich, quality chocolate, and slathered with real buttercream icing. So soothing and calming. Very milky and buttery, but not overwhelmingly sickening like a lot of milky and buttery fragrances are for me. Very strong in the opening, but gets closer to the skin within a half hour, which, believe me, is a good thing, as it keeps it from being overwhelming. This is a very masterful gourmand.

This is Properly, choclolatey, choc drizzled with drinking choc powder and so cozy and moreish! I tried Montale's choc greedy and didn't like it, I found it greasy almost?! This is obviously sweet and i dont have a preference for sweet scents but I'm really enjoying this and can't wait to try it out on a cold, winter evening :) It's not a dry choc like Slumberhouse Ore, its almost like choccy pudding, lovely! EDIT: just want to add that how Montale choc greedy has an orio biscuit vibe going on, this is pure choclate, no biscuity undertones :)

EDIT: My first review was when I first smelled the perfume, I had a very bad impression sadly... It smelled like a very dirty and chemical/synthetic chocolate. Now that I sprayed for the entire day, it smells very good actually ! The chocolate is not as synthetic as I first described, it's more creamy chocolaty now (very addictive), one of my favourite. Sadly, the longevity and the sillage are pretty bad, doesn't lasts... But, I'm tempted to buy a bottle for now. So well, I take back my negative review ✓

This is SUCH a yummy scent. I am a huge lover of gourmands, chocolate, and lactonic notes in fragrances, so was looking forward to trying this brand. I *think* I prefer this one to Lait Concentre, but its close, they are both delicious. This smells like pure chocolate biscuit to me. Those shortbread cookies with chocolate on top. It's a buttery cookie with smooth milk chocolate. It encapsulates it beautifully. I try a lot of fragrances with these notes and this one is a stand out.

This is a delicious milk chocolate with vanilla hints and some jasmine in the background. A shy feminine scent for a ballerina. Soft, romantic, gourmand, dreamy chocolate, delicate and fragile dont expect a massive projection this is an intimate scent. Lovely for romantic movie nights with hot chocolate or for school teachers, music teachers. Love this house and I am about to order a full bottle of this lovely fragrance.

Soft and mild, reminds of comforting cup of cocoa with milk and naturally sounding vanilla. I wear it in the early spring, when you still need some warmth. For some, it can be a therapic fragrance, as it somehow brings sense of safety, quiet happiness, and laziness, when you have so much time - a childhood feeling. Have never been into gourmand fragrances, but I enjoy this one a lot, would like to bath in it :)

So I layered this with Philosophy Fresh Cream and I smell like decadent hot cocoa. I will say when I sprayed this on paper I requested a return almost immediately, it smelled like chocolate smuckers chapstick to me. Juvenile, waxy, awful. On my skin it warmed up and layered beautifully. I’m super excited to wear this with woody vanillas for a smores like smell.

Soft milky chocolate biscuit in a bottle - that's ALL it is. :D Costs A LOT for such unknowin new brand! But smell is amazing!! SUPER NATURAL smell! It's so good! Quality jiuce like Tom Ford's stuff. Nice and powdery. Really good for male and female. As i said 100% chocolate biscuit smell. 3-4 sprays last about 3 hours, after that skin scent.

Believe me, this is not only milk and chocolate. It has facets and a beautiful Woody nuance. Performance is excellent and wearing it is truly an enchanting experience. Gourmands are not my first choice when it comes to fragrances but after Lait et Chocolat I will definitely Re-evaluate that. @deepgreenbeauty

sweet milk chocolate opening with a warm flaky pastry scent that comes after. Smells reminiscent of a chocolate croissant through and through, full dry down is less chocolate and a milky vanilla comes through. Chocolate remains but only slightly hours later, but a lactonic vanilla bready smell is what stays.

Bought a full bottle of this delicious scent!! cant help smelling my wrist since I put it on. the first sniff is a yummy smell includes dark chocolate with biscuits. not super sweet like lait Concentré from the same house. after awhile, it turns into a soft, sweet, and tender scent. sillage is pretty good

Oh my gosh. There is gourmands and then there is GOURMANDS. This is a hyper-realistic sweet chocolate milk, very rich, creamy, utterly delicious. It’s actually so hyper-realistic I’m not sure where or how to wear it, if that makes sense. Definitely one to smell if you can get yourself a sample. YUM.

Can't stop sniffing my wrist. I get mostly high-end milk chocolate (those of us who grew up with cheap American chocolate will know what I'm referring to) but it is not totally gourmand to me. There is a whisper of jasmine and woods that keeps this from feeling like you're wearing dessert.

A beautiful gourmand, it is indeed a cup of very sweet cocoa. It is quite realistic but as I smell it longer I pick up the jasmine and a slight dryness but it’s very much still chocolate. I enjoy it a lot!

This is not trying to be anything else, it is exactly as it says chocolate milk. Though a teeny bit different. So the milk note here doesn't really smell like other milk notes. If we compare it to Blanche Bête by Les Liquides Imaginaires, it's more dense like condensed milk. If you've also smelled the Bath & Body Works Milk Body Spray, it's also not like that. It's creamy and there's a lactonic facet, but it doesn't have those facets of grassiness as true milk. It's mainly due to how sweet it smells. The chocolate note is definitely there. It's not a hot coca powder chocolate, but like a really sweet and decadent milk chocolate you'd eat. Something interesting to me is, I feel like this smells yes like chocolate milk, but to my nose it smells more like coffee creamer. I'm also picking up on like a tiger milk tea, y'know really sweet and dense milkiness, just lacking any molasses note. It is decently linear I will say. Woodiness and jasmine, if those really are present notes, are almost entirely non existent. This is where I will say it is too sweet. It's not as sweet as say Love Don't Be Shy by Killian, but it's sweet in a way where it consumes the other elements that could make it more wearable. I wish the milk was more forward, like true milk. With toned down sweetness from the chocolate, I think it would've made it a little bit more interesting. Also, don't get the version with the clear cap. Whoever designed that thing needs to be fired. Because if you confuse what hole it fits into, you'll spray the nozzle. Furthermore, if you make the mistake of pressing a little too hard just when holding the bottle, you'll also spray the nozzle into the cap, and then the perfume drips onto the nozzle, onto the bottle and then it's sticky and gross. Try to find the version with the golden spherical cap. It also just looks better. Great atomizer though. It's just not a fragrance I could see myself wearing on my own, unless I was feeling really whimsical and going on like a boba and ice cream date. Not a bad scent, just a little too one dimensional FOR ME.

I've been sampling gourmand perfumes for a good part of the day today and wasn't happy w/ any of them. Most of them were too linear and too foody. Yeah, yeah, I know that is what they are supposed to be, and I probably gave a lot of the perfumes I sampled a hard time because I was searching for something that they weren't delivering. That being said Lait et Chocolate is what I have been looking for in a gourmand fragrance. This smells like chocolate but it also smells like a perfume. I get the jasmine, the teak and the cedar as well as the sweet milk and vanilla notes. This is really nice, cozy, enjoyable and cuddly. A great casual date night perfume or just staying at home w/ your man cuddling on the couch watching the snow fall on a cold winter day. I think this is full bottle worthy. Edit: All of these gourmand offerings from Chabaud last a long time. I'm still surprised they are toilettes. My husband and bestie say this one smells like brownie batter. It kind of does. Like if brownie batter was perfume. I bought the travel set of this brand of gourmand perfumes and while they are nice gourmands and do what they promise I find this genre really isn't for me and when this set is gone, I won't repurchase.

It is a very sweet, desert like milk chocolate scent. If I smell it on paper or from a distance, it is a amazingly realistic milk chocolate scent. It is sweet and delicious perfume which is not too perfumey but truly delicious. At the same time, when worn by me, I feel like there are a few hard to pick up (very weak) notes that are ruining the completely edible experience to me. Probay jasmin, but also might be cedar or teakwood. Or perhaps the combination? I still absolutely adore it, but it keeps me from adding it to my absolute favourites list (that's because it has more notes than literal food :D). Musk is not noticeable at all and I'm glad, because to me musk mostly smells like sweat 😅 And it is a realistic condensed milk scent, but without anything weird, like can undertaste or spoiled milk. It is linear and complex at the same time. Performance, longevity are superb!

File Lait et Chocolat under fun. The opening was so interesting, and if it had stayed there longer I would’ve moved this into the love category...that opening though! which featured a perfect mix of chocolate (I was thinking of a chocolate biscuit) and a beautiful floral note (jasmine). The interplay was curious, unexpected and so much fun. Dry down was less interesting but no less natural: milk and probably musk are now jockeying for position, and I’m getting less floral notes. I’m transported into a working kitchen, the aroma is fresh and fills the air. I love that I can find Lait et Chocolat in a smaller size too—for a 30 ml at around $50. A solid deal from Chabaud and an enthusiastic like.

I got the chance to try this on from a niche perfume shop. This was a nice fragrance! Really heavy on the lactonic part and very chocolatey too. Out of the whole Chabaud Lait line, this was the most prominent scent in a way that if you sprayed this on and passed by someone, they can definitely tell that the notes are vanilla, milk, and chocolate. After a few hours of trying the whole Lait line on different parts of my arms, this was the only one I can smell without having to dig my nose in. However, I didn't buy it because it cost way too much. If you love milk chocolate, you should try this!

This is a cozy delicious chocolate without being cloyingly sweet. It starts with dark and rich chocolate but I can't smell any jasmine there. When the chocolate fades a bit, the milk, vanilla and teakwood jump out and create a scent similar to a cup of hot chocolate. It is chocolate bar in the beginning and hot chocolate in the middle. This is the first time I tried chocolate scent and it smells so good. I am glad I got the sample when I bought lait concentree. In fact I like this much more as the lactonic scent turns sour on my skin.

this is throwing me right into one of those lindt lindor truffle commercials where the fancy chocolatier guy stirs the pot of molten chocolate... def more milk chocolate than dark! almost like a german hazelnutty kinder bueno note? either way, it's hyper-realistic, and i would definitely be skeptical of wearing this in public, since i'd be afraid that someone would want to take a bite. lol.

It's okay, pleasant. Not sure if it's FBW tho. It's a gourmand but it's not necessarily photorealistic as in it still has a perfumey quality to it. My problem with it is that it doesn't last at all, but also I find that the milk note this house uses is very sour milk. Like curdled, gone off milk. Quite disappointing but I have Chocolate Milk from Sugar Milk Co. which I love.

I’m not a gourmand girlie, BUT, I like this one ☺️ It feels very high quality, cozy and uplifting. It has this photorealistic high-quality milk chocolate bar with hazelnuts smell which is so pleasant. Unfortunately my husband finds this one overwhelming, so I’ll probably just use the rest of my sample when I’m not in the same space as him. The projection is quite strong

Chabaud is the master of subtle and cozy perfumes. Lait et chocolat smells like a nuttier version of nutella, it's a gourmand fragrance but not sweet like lait concentre, it's just nuts, cocoa... warmth. It's very intime and that's why I think it's perfect for the office. I got a sample and I would love to buy a bottle, but it's on the pricey side.

This smells exactly like chocolate scented calculator and pencils from the Scholastic book fairs. Slightly musky, synthetic scent. It's still smells delicious, though. I actually really liked this because it's so tame and not overpowering at all. However, someone said it smelled like pencils and I haven't worn it since... lol

This reminds me of the chocolate drinking straws. Smells just like cocoa powder. This is really realistic. If you’re a gourmand lover, or on the hunt for a chocolate fragrance this is worth a try. It’s okay, not really for me. But, I can see why a lot of people like it.

Smells like Cadbury mini eggs candy. Not the cream filled ones but the solid chocolate ones with the candy shell. The chocolate was a blast at first then quieted down to a milky creamy smell. Didn’t seem to last long on me but the smell is wonderful while it’s there.

This smells like you’re drinking a very concentrated cup of hot chocolate, not the watered down kind. And you have it right up to your nose, but the person beside you is wearing a very light floral perfume and the two scents together make this beautiful scent.

Smells just like a bourbon cream! The strongest projection of all Chabaud gourmands in my opinion. Super photorealistic so I'm not sure I could wear this out often enough to buy a full bottle.

Dark chocolate sweet but with a slightly bitter note. Overwhelming short short-lasting, very enjoyable, but with no follow-up.

A sweet, soft milk chocolate cookie-ish scent

Wow - the opening of Lait et Chocolat smells like the scent you get when you open a bag of cocoa powder, and the powder whirls around you - the kind of cocoa powder that is already mixed with sugar and ready to mix with cold milk. Then it becomes like a glass of cocoa powder mixed with oat milk (it’s milky but not too lactonic and doesn’t go sour). Slowly the vanilla mixes in, adding sweetness. The woody notes support and adds depth, but they are not prominent at all. I’m not getting any florals. If you love chocolate scents and want to smell like a glass of chocolate milk, this is worth a try as it has a super realistic chocolate note. It’s not dark or heavy, it’s sweet and edible. Unfortunately, I can’t think of a situation where I’d want to smell like this in public. Maybe if I worked as a barista as the fragrance would mix with the different coffee scents in the café.

This smells exactly like the now discontinued Bath and Body Works pure simplicity cocoa body scrub, which was my absolute favorite body product in the world when I was in middle school. It's a linear milky chocolate with minimal sweetness; I don't get any of the wood notes that are supposedly included, which is a shame since they might have improved longevity. I have better luck with performance if I spray this on my clothes, otherwise it's pretty much nonexistent on my skin after 30-45 minutes. The bottle is a let down considering how much Chabaud is charging for an EdT - the cap in particular is offensively flimsy and cheap feeling. Overall, this is not a great value for your money and probably not FBW unless, like me, you are a sucker for mid '00s Bath and Body Works nostalgic scents.

Pulled this out today after a long while of not reaching for it and remembered why it wasn't a love. The opening has a very heavy grain scent, like corn pops cereal, and something just verging on burnt. There is also a very harsh black pepper scent, not a pleasant spicy note but like you're taking a giant whiff of peppercorns. It dries down to a very milky chocolate scent. It's more milk than chocolate. It makes me think of Fresh Cream by Philosophy but Fresh Cream doesn't have the harsh opening. I don't hate it but I just can't love it with that opening. I do enjoy something about that chocolate milk dry down. I'm going from a like to an ok, I was being to generous before. Note: It hit me the other day the opening smells like the burnt marshmallow scented Crayola marker, the black one.

Lait et Chocolat sounded like a dream made from creamy milk and rich chocolate. But in reality, it’s unfortunately more like a jar of unsweetened cocoa powder tipped over onto warm, musky skin. There’s no real lactonic creaminess, just a dry, dusty cocoa caught in the air, sandy tonka grounds smoothing its edges but never melting it down. For visualisation, just picture the faint scent of a baking tin long after the choco chiffon cake is gone, a musky, powdery gourmand ghost rather than something indulgent. No cream, no decadence, chocolat sans lait—just a faded imprint of sweet butter and packet cocoa, lingering like a memory on fabric.

I'll rest my nose before trying again but I don't any jasmine, and I love that flower. I really just get a milky, candy-like chocolate. Or I'm sorry to say, cheap compound chocolate. There's nothing wrong with that mind you. It's just not specifically what you want from a fragrance perhaps. I can only describe myself as smelling like I rolled around in condensed milk and flaked milk chocolate. I get no wood either. I probably wouldn't wear this on its own. I think it'll give a nice sweet chocolate boost to some fragrances I have.

After applying my sample of lait et chocolat, I was immediately turned off by the "buttered popcorn" note, though the fragrance felt balanced despite it. The jasmine emerged after a couple hours and the scent mellowed into something not unlike the cocoa butter sticks you can get at the drug store. A nice fragrance, if that sounds appealing to you.

I like the idea, but the execution has some flaws. There is a chemical undertone in this fragrance which other people here noticed too. This chemical scent ruins the fragrance. It smells like an alcoholic cleaning product within the chocolate scent. If this chemical scent was not there, this fragrance would be a lot better.
