Orangerie Musicale

I’m surprised no one’s talking about the similarity to Love Don’t Be Shy. To me, they have a very similar vibe. Gorgeous, with orange blossom and neroli dominating. In the drydown, it turns into beautiful vanilla with something nostalgic.

FIRST IMPRESSION: this is nice. i smell something very soft and similar to MFK 'Petit Matin'. it smells like a pastel yellow. it is sweet yet fresh and light enough. there's a citrus-y sweetness, along with colorful florals. it relatively inoffensive, not mysterious or unique in any way, like fresh laundry of someone else in a Mediterranean alley on a sunny day with cool breeze, flower pots everywhere, a shop close-by wash the floors and the soapy water fills the air with fresh clean scent. SEVERAL HOURS LATER... it is a high quality scent. as i mentioned , it is similar to mfk petit matin , and also matches the quality level of his fragrances. i wouldnt be surprised if it was a release from mfk. i enjoy this type of scent. i would still refrain from using such a scent as signature, as something is just a tad cluttered in this composition, cant put my finger on it. but still, a refreshing smell to pass by for brief moments and appreciate. 57/100

I tested this on arm with Penhaligon's Orange blossom on the other. Its summer where I'm at (31 degrees Celsius). I actually liked this better than Penhaligon's orange blossom because it blends well on my skin. It opens with a blast of citrus and white florals and as it dries down, it becomes sweeter on skin, and maybe a tiny bit creamy from the sugar-almond-vanilla combo but not cloying at all. It's fun and perfect for summer or spring. As I am familiar with the smell of anise, I detected it instantly but it's not that "waving annoyingly at your nose" experience. It's muted and I think it adds a bit of depth to the scent.

Green neroli with a sharp stingy quality like standing under a blooming citrus tree. Opening is so green for the first couple of hours that I’d consider it unisex. It’s not soapy, it’s pungent. Orange blossom is prominent after a few hours. Still very green and citrusy though. Great projection and longevity. Very well made - definitely worth trying if you like neroli and orange blossom, and want something more green and citrusy than soapy.

The star anise in this is very subtle. It's a predominantly sweet orange flower water almond dessert . Very dreamy, very South of France, very Summery. Refreshing gourmand with subtle background florals. Reminds me of L'Occitane products. I didn't find it to be very long lasting but very nice while it is present. You could probably get the same effect with an orange flower cologne and L'Occitanes almond oil spray.

Old fashioned heavy musky orange blossom with a borderline soapy/aldehydic vibe (which some may find nostalgic), but the most interesting part is when it goes into a bitter-ish citrus zest and benzoin. I don`t really get why "sugar" is mentioned separately as 90% of sweet perfumes here do not have sugar as a separate visual card/note. Interesting mix if you let it open, although the orange blossom really dominates and chokes out everything else here, in my opinion they could have reduced a degree (or ten) of that, to let other notes spark. It was a good combination initially, but got absolutely choked out by the main note, becoming just another one of those heavy fleur d `oranges, while costing a fortune in the case of CMDP.

Instantly, instantly gave me a big whiff of candy when I sprayed it on. Orange is my most-loved note, for whatever reason, so I think I will always have love for an orange fragrance, even if it's not really my style. This one reminds me of a lollipop-ified version of Tocca's Stella. Which is funny because Stella is already so buoyant and adolescent and happy. But OM's pronounced presence of vanilla (on my skin) takes this orange from happy flower to edible treat. Not really my thing, in the end, especially because I prefer Stella (and the nostalgia that comes with it, being, like, the second perfume I ever owned), but I could see how this would be alluring.

It's nothing special IMHO. Indolic citrus blossoms with almond, vanilla and sugar. Citrus with vanilla is a pairing I simply don't understand.

Beautiful. Orange blossom almond and vanilla. Delicate but serious longevity. One of my favorites among my collection. Works great on all seasons.
