As someone who tends to prefer powerhouse fragrance DNAs from yesteryear, it is not often that I find myself liking a modern fragrance let alone owning one and wearing it often. In this case Chanel’s Allure Homme Sport is one which breaks the mold. It opens up with a creamy yet fresh citrus accord (orange) and dries down to a powdery, clean musky soap. The orange freshness is present from opening to dry down. This isn’t necessarily a complex fragrance however with Chanel’s immaculate blending this doesn’t really matter to me. There is an ‘effortless’ quality to this which I find quite charming. It smells rather elegant and self-assured. A reviewer below stated that they find this to be “a little bit dated” (!?). This was released in the same year as I was born..being 22 now does that mean I’m old? Of course not. With today’s current market of blues, hyper sweets, aventus-ey clones, borderline female ‘men’s releases’ wearing Chanel Allure Homme Sport you will not only smell superior but you will stand out like a splash of red paint on a white wall. Side note - if compliments and validation from others is of significance to you then you will certainly be pleased with this. From experience women seem to like this one. As for the performance, I initially thought this one didn’t last all that long and wasn’t too noticeable after hour 2. I was wrong. I’ve been wearing this for the last few days during the current heatwave here in the UK and after working and exercising (sports coach) in the sun for several hours I have received compliments at the end of my work day which was surprising. I would say this lasts a good 7-8 hours minimum, projecting well for the first 1-2 hours then leaving a more intimate (but strong) bubble with good silage for most of the life cycle. Overall I think this is an excellent fragrance which can be worn pretty much all year round but is best suited to the warmer months of the year. Can also be worn both casually and professionally. If you are looking for something easy to wear that’ll work for pretty much any situation then this might just be the one for you. 8/10

I think what makes this fragrance so amazing is that Chanel managed to create a relatively simple composition of common citrus, woody and sweet notes. Yet it is precisely the quality and subtlety that sets it apart, and this cannot be replicated by any imitation or fragrance inspired by it — and there are quite a few of those out there. Perfume lovers often lament how Chanel can sell such an ordinary perfume at such high prices. My answer is that they can, and they don't have to worry that any imitation will surpass their own fragrance in quality. I don’t know if it's the quality of the fragrance ingredients or the perfumer's blending, but this simply smells high-quality. I don't particularly care for this type of scent, but I can still appreciate its quality. I’ve bought several imitations (from Lattafa thru Afnan/Armaf to Versace), and not a single one was even one-tenth as good to justify their low price. The latest one I bought was Missoni Wave, and it was no different. Even though the 50 ml bottle cost 'only' €14.99, it's not worth it. It doesn’t smell unpleasant, but it’s ordinary and boring. Every time I wear it, I think, 'Well, I'm not satisfied, but at least I saved money.' What’s the point of that? No more clones or knock-offs for me — it's pointless, and a true perfume lover will always opt for the original. People who buy imitations and bash the original, claiming it is overpriced, are the same people who, if they could, would download perfumes from the internet in the same way as they do songs and films. I know I'm being harsh, and I apologise if anyone was offended by my words., but I had to get it off my chest. Take a minute to think about it. How much have some of you already spent on various clones of an expensive fragrance, hoping to find the perfect one (cheap and good quality), and how much did you spend on these imitations? It might equal the price of one full bottle of the original — that's what happened when I was looking for the perfect Aventus clone. I spent the equivalent of 150 ml of the original juice on the clones, which I didn't enjoy at all..

The opening is akin to many common male citrus freshies, but the dry down is magical. The woods, vetiver, and ambers really shine and transform this scent from your run-of-the-mill citrusy thing to a layered masterpiece that smells uncommon and luxurious. It starts to get so creamy and smooth after the first half hour, but not lotiony like so many freshies with a tonka and vanilla base. I think the aldehydes keep it airy and fresh during its dry down. It shines at around hour 2: The woods have actual presence and the vetiver adds this perfect touch of clean earthiness. The musk adds body and helps to ground the scent. The vanilla and coumarin are so creamy and almost almondy. The sillage also peaks at this time, and you will get noticed and complimented. As more time passes, the citrus eventually fades completely and you're left with an amazing amber woody vanilla with a touch of clean earthiness from the vetiver and musk. Allure Homme Sport lasts 8+ hours on my skin with 7 sprays - three on each side of my neck/top shoulders, and one in the back. I like to triple spray most EDT freshies to help them diffuse off my skin for longer. It will radiate slightly greater than an arms length for the first couple of hours, then it begins to dial back. I think this performance is pretty great considering its composition - at least on my skin. I absolutely love Chanel designer fragrances, and Allure Homme Sport is my #2 from this house right behind the OG Allure Homme. #3? Platinum Egoiste. 9.4/10 - get this one in your collection before the end of summer.

It leans more clean and polished than sporty, with a slightly powdery, musky drydown that is pleasant but fairly linear. While the longevity and linearity hold it back slightly, it stands out as a relatively unique and refined option in the fresh category, though it would score even higher if it offered better value for the price. 8/10

One of the best fresh fragrances ever, and probably the best in the whole Allure Homme line. It's fresh and clean without being overly citrusy, like many other freshies tend to be. It's a perfect balance between aquatic and citrus. At the same time it's soft and cozy without being too warm or cloying. And at the same time it's also distinctly masculine without being too harsh or heavy. The ingredients are perfectly balanced so that nothing specific really sticks out too much. The only drawback is that it doesn't last a very long time. It's fairly strong and very fresh and aquatic in the first couple of hours or so, then it turns into a much softer and distinctly less aquatic skin scent. Personally I think I like this drydown phase the most in terms of the scent, because it's very soft and cozy while remaining clean and masculine. After another few hours, there's not much left. It lasts longer of clothes, of course, but for some reason I think it smells much better on skin than on clothes. If only the longevity was better, this might be a perfect fresh masculine fragrance. But even with the relatively short life span, I still feel that's it's worth it simply because the scent itself is so good, so extremely well balanced, so fresh AND cozy AND manly, and is utterly inoffensive. I haven't smelled anything else in the Fresh and Manly category that is this smooth and soft. It's just the best despite it's fleeting nature. In short, this is Clean and Healthy Masculinity in a bottle.

A strange but interesting scent that, when it was released, felt truly unique. It has a sharp synthetic smell, much like Eau Extreme has synthetic sweetness, but both in a good way. It starts fresh and sharply powdery, almost like play-dough in the opening. People call it mandarin, but they need to eat a real mandarin and smell it, this does not smell like mandarin. It’s more of an aldehydic freshness. It becomes moderately sweet in the base while staying slightly fresh and sharp. A very fun, complex, and interesting scent to wear, as it starts like nothing you have smelled before and goes through a long transformation before settling into a warm vanilla and tonka bean base. This is a great versatile scent that can be worn at the office, in school, on a date, or while hanging out. It will not offend anyone. It works all year, though not ideal for hot weather. A great gym fragrance for cooler days and the winter months. This scent is over 20 years old and still feels relevant. Truly a timeless creation. Like Chanel always does, they create scents that set trends. Millennials and younger generations like this scent. It gets the unspoken compliments, not the kind you hear, but the kind you observe. Nobody gets verbal compliments unless it is from family or by asking. And when you ask, they tend to lie. The stares, the body language. That is the true evidence of a fragrance that appeals to the opposite sex.

Friends, we are gathered here today in memory of perhaps one of the best fresh fragrances to hit the designer market. When I heard that this was reformulated I simply laughed at the idea, thinking it to be a sick joke and saying to myself "They wouldn't dare..." The joke was on me and the dreaded reformulation has occurred. It has taken away a genuinely pleasant aroma and now deprives so many of us of the splendor it once had. While we mourn the loss of a what was once my signature scent, we pay tribute and celebrate the performance it once possessed. I remember the hype this fragrance once generated in this community. The buzz it generated provoked me into picking up a bottle. I remember the fresh, vanillic, and aromatic accords filling my environment within the first few atomizations, instantly lifting my mood as I start my day. I can't help but reminisce of the days the sillage of this scent would easily solicit compliments from those around me and carry me through a shift without hassle. Unfortunately, this beautiful gem is a shell of it's former glory, left with only half it's performance intact. I refuse to remember you in this weakened state... We had a good run and made the most of our brief time together. My signature scent, 2015-2018

After having tried around ~35 fragrances, this is my favorite of all in terms of the smell itself. I also think someone back in 2004-2009 around me wore it but I don't know who, but that gives me memories of it. It opens with an amazing citrus blast that has depth and mystique to it. It's not a gourmand citrus but an abstract one. It also has a kind of high tech 2004 aura around it. In the first part of the dry down (like first 10-20 minutes) the citrus sort of disappears, but then somehow the citrus comes back and stays there for the rest of the dry down. It smells like the opening but without the sharpness. It's hard to describe why you like a smell over another. No description can really capture why, it's just that the smell is amazing and hence my favorite. I also feel like it works very well in extreme weather, both when it's very warm and when it's very cold. The citrus note somehow really shines when it's really cold out and really warm out. It's not as prominent at room temperature, not sure what that is about.

One of my favorite easy fragrances. A strong citrus opening before turning into a smooth vanilla creamsicle. In my opinion this has the Eau Extreme beat by a long shot (although I still love the EE), and is tied with Edition Blanche (which smells like a lemon version of this) for my favorite summer fragrance, although this can easily be worn year-round. I find that the online consensus regarding poor longevity and performance of men's Chanel fragrances is an example of a falsehood being repeated so often people start to believe it. This fragrance consistently outperforms MANY niche fragrances I have tried, from Xerjoff to Nishane to Creed (obviously Creed, but still). This whole online narrative of designer being inferior to niche is pretty tiresome, and the discourse around longevity and sillage is no exception. Allure Homme Sport is no Mancera or clone from a Middle Eastern perfume house, but it still has beastly performance on my skin. One of the greatest, and it’s Chanel’s best seller (behind Bleu) for a reason.

The perfect summer fragrance. Fresh, but complex. Citrusy, but not zesty. Oceanic, but not too salty. Clean, but not sterile. Perfect for summer, but great for every occasion. The citrus here is not sharp like lemon, but smooth and equally as refreshing. The aldehydes give it a slightly metallic, cold feeling that is never sterile but instead feels like a breeze of fresh air. The vanilla here makes it a very round and creamy fragrance, which is usually hard to do with fresh scents. And the musk and neroli just tie it all together giving it a very clean and well put feeling. This doesn’t smell as natural or airy as some other summer/beach fragrances, but it smells the most put together. Like luxury in a bottle. This feels like the equivalent of a vintage white-dial Rolex. You could easily wear it to a millionaire’s wedding at a beach in a five star hotel in the Maldives. At the same time, it wouldn’t feel out of place just going for a beachside walk with friends. I don’t think I’ll ever let it leave my collection.

This is a love for me. It is perfectly balanced and rounded. This is an abstract fragrance, seemingly less concerned with realistic accords than the overall impression. Because of this, to me, it almost smells futuristic, outside of time. The scent unfolds and evolves over its lifespan on the skin, and smells of higher quality, at least to me, than Versace Pour Homme. The opening is very refreshing and enjoyable, and smooth too, featuring lots of juicy orange with something foamy and or creamy. As the scent dries, it develops more texture, and the middle and drydown are my favorite aspects of this scent. Something almost earthy-chocolatey presents itself in the heart, followed by a transparent vanilla above earthy notes. In the air, you smell the same rounded fresh “bubble” that you get from the stronger Bleu de Chanel concentrations. Overall, a masterfully crafted, very enjoyable, and absolutely inoffensive scent that you can wear to any occasion, whenever you want to smell fresh, clean, and elegant.

As an introvert, I hardly feel the need to announce to everyone else, "Hey, I'm wearing a fragrance right now". I prefer to be discovered; accidentally would be the best scenario. CAHS does just that. Soft, sporty from citrus, and somewhere you can smell a slight hint of the sea. Then it dries down to mostly tonka beans, powdery, I may add. Not truly a sport nor a sweet fragrance, a hybrid I suppose. Which makes it perfect to be a versatile fragrance to use in almost every occasion. Interesting approach from Channel. Having smelled the Eau Extreme, I still prefer the "original Homme Sport". A balance between sweet and freshness. Performance is notoriously "bad" in today's standard: 2 hours of projection, then skin scent for about 4~6 hours. Which leaves 6~8 hours, depending on where and when you apply. Apart from the price, a good blind buy. There are "clones" and ones that are inspired by CAHS. I tried the other ones occasionally but I have to say nothing beats the original one.

Thanks for the feedback! You’re right. Rereading what I wrote earlier, I realise I went a bit overboard. I still have a few Arabic knock-offs at home, left over from when I used to buy almost exclusively knock-offs. It has just occurred to me that a replica is sometimes the only way to find out what the original smells like, or at least get a rough idea, because samples aren’t available for all perfumes in our country. I was really annoyed to realise that I’ve spent over 1,000 EUR on imitations over the last 12–15 years, and I’ve never been as satisfied with them as I have with the originals. The first imitation I bought was a copy of the Chopard 'Heaven' perfume. I think it was called 'Ocean', but I can't remember the brand. I bought it because, even back then, the original fragrance was already discontinued. So, to conclude, I’ll amend what I foolishly wrote in my previous review. When a perfume enthusiast truly loves a fragrance, they’ll save up for the original.

Do not believe those who say it smells like Versace Pour Homme (VPH). It does not. So before you pick VPH as a "cheaper alternative" - just go to an offline perfume store and smell them side-by-side before jumping into conclusions. I don't suggest to make any conclusions based on a 1 ml sampler of VPH because it may have Tonka beans which a full-size version of VPH does not, and in that case the sampler of VPH will smell a bit similar to CAHS. VPH - starts with synthetic Lemon, then turns into a floral scent which in the end mixes with Cedarwood and Oud Wood. Basically a floral scent that finishes a bit heavy with the wooden notes. There's no sweetness at all. CAHS - starts with sweet Mandarin, then becomes powdery and finishes with a combination of sweet (Tonka beans) and woody/earthy notes. Nothing floral about it, instead - a sweet citrusy scent with a bit of woody/earthy undertone. Subjectively smells more expensive and not at all linear.

Got this for testing. This one is pretty light on my skin. The scent is great. Reminds me of Versace Pour Homme. Same style and feel to it. This is more airy but also enough in it to be different. I don't think I'd buy a bottle yet since I already own the other. Maybe once I run out. If there were more of a different direction it went.. I would consider picking it up.. but they're both so similar and Versace is much more affordable. I kind of think this is over hyped and not hyped enough at the same time. More like it's the Line that is over hyped. This scent isn't really talked about much bc there are more choices in the line up. I love this one. There isn't a bad time to wear this. Well.. maybe not middle of winter. It can be great anywhere. In my opinion this doesn't get enough recognition bc it's overshadowed by the Eau Extreme. Great stuff. 8/10 for me.

Am I the only person on earth who likes this more than Eau Extreme?! This is a case of "Don't fix what is not broken". I find this excellent if not perfect. The price tag is a bit high, some people recommend that the Versace Pour Homme is a better alternative considering the price. I agree to some extent, but I believe that Versace is a bit lighter and has a sportier vibe than this one. Maybe in the 2000s, Allure was considered a fresh sport fragrance, but by today's standard, think this is a bit sweet for that matter. Maybe a little heavy for the very hot and humid days under direct sunlight, but other than that I think you can wear this anytime, anywhere, even in a more formal situation with ease. I love this well-balanced fragrance and I'd rather wear this over any "Bleu" fragrance out there these days.

Chanel’s Allure Homme Sport has to be one of my all time favorite fragrances for men! As a woman I definitely like fresh scents that have a little sweetness to them on a man. I love the sweet orange and salty sea top notes. I smell a little spice and it could be the pepper, but it smells like cinnamon to me which is fantastic and the base it definitely a warm vanilla. I think that the notes blend so well together in this fragrance so that it is not too candy sweet nor too sharp smelling. As much as I like fresh citrus scents, there is nothing appealing about a man smelling like a lemon bomb or a Clorox wipe what is so strong it burns your nose. I personally love Allure Homme Sport and every time I smell it on a man I always stop to give a compliment!

This is a perfect casual scent. Very very bright orange off the top that lasts and faintly stays throughout the entire life of the fragrance. This dries down into a sweet musky creamy scent with hints of mandarin. Its tonka-musk base allows this to be comfortably worn during the night as a light relaxed scent as well. Not a typical ‘night out’ fragrance. You get sweet musky whiffs of it well into 6+ hours of wearing. Not a beast mode performer but it’s better off not being one. This is probably not for the office, an interview, or formal event. This is nearing a casual luxury type of scope. Daytime wear on your days off, casual evenings, gym sessions. 9/10 I think the retail price for a 3.4 ounce bottle is a touch expensive but well worth it.
