Cristalle Eau de Parfum (2023)

Cristalle does the earthy, green, dewy gorgeousness of hyacinths perfectly. Perhaps it's because I'm now slightly jaded & nauseated by all the popular, cloyingly sweet gourmands, but I find the exuberant austerity exquisite. The rain is one of my favorite things in the world & there is a gorgeous, luminous & cooling dampness that I cannot get enough of in Cristalle. I am instantly transported to soggy, raw Washington State, visiting my sister by the ocean, when I wear this, or to cool, humid Florida during a downpour while on a winter trip to Epcot with my son. It doesn't surprise me that this was one of the last fragrances developed by Chanel, as it's the kind of fragrance one gravitates towards after trying (& becoming sickened by) everything else. Shimmering, complex, and sophisticated, it's aptly named & perfect for someone serious & completely uninterested in drama, games & frivolities. I adore the EDT & was afraid I'd be disappointed by the EDP after reading all the absurd reviews arguing that they bear little resemblance to one another. I'm so glad I did not listen, as the EDP is absolutely luscious. It is merely a richer version of the beautiful EDT, albeit admittedly (if not necessarily) missing a smidge of the luminously transparent citrus shimmer & sharper galbanum, yet more than making up for it with longevity. Layering the two is my idea of heaven. If I could only choose five fragrances for the rest of my life, this would absolutely be one of them. LOVE, LOVE. LOVE Cristalle to the moon & back.

I remember I did not like very much the EdT I smelled back in the 1990s, but I was just a teenager back then and I was more attracted by other kind of scents (although I also used to wear YSL Opium... not very teenager appropriate... lol...). This new EdP I really like it. I love the initial green blast and then, the fragrance gets softer, a bit sweeter, but green nonetheless. It smells really transparent and crystalline, fresh, but substantial, and so elegant and sophisticated. As many Chanel creations, it is a timeless fragrance, perfect anytime, anywhere, for anybody. It has indeed something similar to No. 19 (the greenness, the iris), but they are not the same fragrance. No. 19 is greener, dryer, in my opinion, more "professional", kind of cold and aloof, while Cristalle has a more approachable character (I love both, of course). I would really like to try also the Eau Vert version, because I love green, elegant fragrances.

I had never smelled the original Cristalle or eau vert: only the current EDTs. Melon is a no-go for me, and I’m not crazy about honeysuckle. So, of course, I blind bought this at a premium. I freakin’ love it! It’s not really chypre. It’s chypre-adjacent. It’s modern, not overly sweet, but not really dry either. It’s like a goldilocks for me. And not just another citrus freshy. There’s a super vague ashtray note (in a great way) in the base, but you wouldn’t detect it if you weren’t trying. Only you would notice it. This is one of my new favorite perfumes. Perfect for mild to hot weather, fresh but not a freshie. Complex but not esoteric. Performs well. Def an EDP and not EDT, so a little heavier. I love it. I don’t know why, but I would say this is a woman’s perfume. 35+ (or someone younger with a personality of a chypre.)

I had to purchase a bottle as I have been wearing Cristalle since 2001 and it is one of my favourite Chanel fragrances. The opening is more fresh and lighter than the original, I didn't get any oakmoss from the initial spray. Then when it settles on the skin after a few minutes - less than 5 mins, it smells like the original but a bit lighter. There is no oakmoss listed in the notes for the new version of the edp, however, I can smell it in the drydown and it seems to be more "modern" version of Cristalle. I am very happy to have the new version in this bottle in my collection. At least Cristalle has not disappeared all together, I am happy that I can still wear it even though it is a bit different from the original - I think this will be easier to wear in the Summer months, Overall, I still love Cristalle.

Pre 2023 EDP A sparkling long lasting, primarily, white floral. The opening, for me, is a bit strident so I spritz it on at least a half hour before going out. The dry down is a fresh, light but complex mix of floral notes that lasts for about eight hours. At the start of the dry down the projection is moderate and gradually diminishes to a close to the skin scent. On clothing it lasts much longer. This is a scent for when you want to feel luminous. It suggests a strong, sophisticated women who isn’t afraid to be beautifully feminine.

Just got the new bottle (batchcode 9101) and compared the smell to my 2001 Cristalle edp: to me, they smell exactly the same from start to.... 1 hour in. No oakmoss or treemoss was ever listed in the ingredients of the edp. So the change in smell that some perceive, may also be influenced by what is rumoured and hyped up about reformulations... who knows. Anyway, I’m glad I have enough Cristalle edp to enjoy and last me a good while again. ;D

With all the fragrances I have in my collection this is one of the very few that I’m considering buying a back up bottle of - it smells beautiful radiating from my arm. Green, crisp, slightly tart, floral, and so elegant. Can easily see this being a signature scent. I feel that it’s warmer in its composition and not as cold compared to Cristalle in the older bottle, but it’s near enough the same. Batch code 8901.

Just been to shop where they still had old rectangular bottle tester on display. Smells exactly the same as the new bottle. But different to what I remembered it 3 years ago. Go figure. To the perfume. Cristalle is a very appropriate name - it feels like a dew on a little white flower with a lot of foliage. I still detect oakmossiness close to the heart.

It's almost pure hyacinth. I love it so much. I love hyacinth notes in perfumes anyway, so this is perfect for me. It's incredibly fresh and green. Amazing for spring and summer. Strong as well. Whenever I wear it I can smell it all day. I personally adore it.

It smells exactly like the stuff sold in the old bottles, any difference is the result of ageing or seasonal harvest differences. Just say no to endless reformation hysteria!

I challenge anyone to provide any proof the formula was changed as well as the packaging. Why does everyone just assume? If I’m wrong I’ll admit it!

This is a country club female soap, exclusive to only the very elite upper class... perfectly groomed, white tennis skirt... this is money!

I wanted Cristalle based on the Fragrantica article on the 2023 version and now it is mine. Amazing! What a scent! Bright and hard. Strong. Floral but crisp. Sweet, but not a gourmand. True to its notes it is mainly hyacinth yet with fizzy and delightful citrus edge and with sweet fruity nuances. The flowers are clean yet have some edge, especially to the hyacinth note. Something green and true to the real flower. The honeysuckle is also well represented and iris and jasmine. It is so pure and je ne sais quoi. In character it reminds me of Truth by Calvin Klein. Yet here we have Chanel quality that is evident. It evokes feelings of intense freshness and flawlessness. Spring garden hyacinths, may honeysuckle or summery jasmine. Yet somehow makes me think of snow. With its clarity. It is much more intense than the eau the toilette, which is great. I don't have anything like it in my collection, just Truth comes to mind. It is Chance-like in strength. The best office Chanels are still Gabrielle, Chance Tendre and N°19 Poudre. But this is also fit for any setting of day wear. Rather a personal scent, mood booster. Sillage is soft. In the morning I still feel it on my skin, mainly the sweet jasmine. The joys of having such light, radiant base. I like it, close to love when worn globally. It is adorable. Reads spring-summer to me, but I will be trying it in winter but maybe in February when the hyacinths grow. Funnily enough it is not that far from Flowerbomb Nectar I was wearing yesterday! Also a floral bomb but without candy effect. Just the flowers here are different. It has a sweet and joyous base, making the scent girly. Floral and sweet in a fruity way.

I adore Cristalle Eau Verte and found it and the perfume version back in stock on Chanel. I just purchased a bottle as a late birthday present. I was in two minds on getting either another Eau Verte, or the perfume, but opted for the perfume, I figured it would be a stronger, longer lasting version over the Verte. The initial spray is cigarette smoke to me, which was a real surprise! It thankfully mellows out on the dry down. That smokiness (not sure if the right word) sits behind the main tones afterwards, and add a bit more body over the Verte version (which I love for it's clean and freshness). It certainly adds another dimension to the Cristalle. I did think I'd possibly made a mistake going for the perfume on my first spray, but it's growing on me every time I wear it. I would likely go for another Verte once this is used up, as I would personally say they are different beasts, and that smokiness was unexpected. I do think it will grow on me however, I am sniffing myself frequently throughout the day and enjoying it more. It's a grower thought. I think if I'd sampled this before purchase I would have not purchased, but my preconceptions on the Verte version may have just worked in my favour.

Icy florals with amazing citrus opening topping the flowers. Sheer but long lasting. Leaving a lovely fruity-floral trail without even one heavy note. The flowers: honeysuckle, hiacinth and jasmine are starting to bloom, with spring rain drying on them in intense sunlight. Uplifting, fresh floral. If Chance Eau Tendre is too juvenile, this is bright like N°5 L'Eau without the retro. For a romantic. A trustworthy Chanel chic.

I was pleasantly pleased by how this still smells like Cristalle. As mentioned below, it's not a carbon copy but it was never meant to be. Older customers for one reason or another are no longer buying Cristalle, so why not try and appeal to gen z. Lighter, brighter, more floral. Not much else to say, you've smelt the original I assume. You get the gist, I don't think you'll be disappointed

At my job there were a bunch of hyacinths mixed in with some other flowers and I thought “wow that’s gorgeous I wanna smell like that”, so I hunted down a fragrance profile that fits what I wanted and found this. It smells exactly as I hoped it would. Gorgeous hyacinth scent perfect for spring

This is a very pretty scent, and unusually discrete for being Chanel. It's green and floral, and easy to wear, but I can't get away from the fact that once in a while I get a whiff of something that makes me think of stale water from a vase with a bouquet of flowers :/

It smells very fresh yet powdery, which gives it a vintage feel in my opinion. It’s not a juicy, wet type of fresh, but more powdery. Pretty, soft, inofensive flowers and citruses. It does smell expensive but also crowd-pleasing.

Hyacinth in perfumes is a funny thing. I adore the flower, I can inhale the scent all day long and I never had a hint of headache from it. It is intense and intoxicating, but its sharpness isn't aggresive and it's more elegant. In fragrances, though, it seems a little tricky to do it right. In vintage perfumes it often gets that slightly stale tone, which then makes people call them outdated or worse. This Cristalle EDP has just such a green, a little wilted hyacinth, but it's still a lovely Chanel creation. It took me some time to recall what it reminds me of and it is Guy Laroche Fidji EDT. Very nostalgic for me. I'm not sure I would ever wear it, but that may change. Suggestions for fragrances with prominent hyacinth note are welcome.

Cristalle never was my kind of scent, but seeing hyacinth and honeysuckle as prominent notes I HAD to try it. The notes listed in the drydown , iris and jasmine, are also two of my favourites. Seeing many reviews complaining how different this is from classic Cristalle gave me hope. But nope: this is definitively Cristalle. Bitter cold opening, damp earth drydown, a lot of green in between. But no honeysuckle, and to be honest no hyacinth too, just green stems and cut grass. I was here for the flowers and I found myself deep inside in a cave. I understand the appeal, it's otherwordly and eerie and imposing and primal. But it's not for me.

I have worn Cristalle all my life up until it was discontinued. My one and only, my true love. It was elegant and complex, not too sweet, with a citrus opening. I also found it woody rather than green, the dry down was phenomenal! Fast forward to today and the new formulation.... I’m so sad, it’s not my Cristalle, it’s reminiscent of it and it’s recognisable, but the new one is linear, has no dry down and just disappears after an hour. My heart is broken, I sold my new bottle and I’ve moved on to new loves.

I bought a 10ml sample believing it to be the original. However, the hit of hyacinth told me immediately that, unfortunately, I got the new version. These flowers absolutely ruined an amazing fragrance, which was fresh and green. If I wanted something hyacinth/ lilac smelling, I'd opted for these, but I never thought to be do disappointed by Christalle. What a great shame, will give it to someone floral loving. UPD: Maybe I will keep it, after all, because several hours later it starts smelling like the original. If I could withstand the flowery part. And, if it, fortunately, turns into original, what was the point of tampering with this stupid flowery stuff???

Smells exactly like No 19 eau de parfum

I have the original version which is a chypre. This is a completely different perfume which is beautiful but has none of the distinctive melon or oak moss notes. This new version is fizzy, floral and light and super bright. It is very contemporary and leans young. It is like a super-fresh spring morning. It lacks the elegance and poise of the older version which is a classic. However, if you crave the old version, try Frederic Malle Le Parfum de Terese which is an even better version of the same thing. It would be perfectly reasonable to have both versions of Cristalle as they are completely different perfumes.

I do not have the old bottle here to compare - my impression is that it is mostly the same, if not modernised. I like it a lot, but I am not sure how it will perform, so do test before buying! Chanel appears to have major difficulties to make their older perfumes, last. For example, in their masculine line I can't think of a single fragrance that has a stellar or respectable performance nowadays, which is a pity because some compositions (Allure Homme, Platinum Egoiste) really need a good performance to blossom.

This is my favourite Cristalle, and maybe even my favourite Chanel. Having fallen in and out of love with various versions over the years, I went back and forth between this and the Eau Verte and have finally decided this is the one. The new EDP opens bright and fresh like the EV but the EDP has a much more pleasant dry down. It’s powdery, fresh, floral, and sweet. Very likable even for aldehyde-averse people.

This is an effortlessly light, crisp blend of citrus and floral notes. The balance of sharp lemon and soft jasmine creates a delicate, almost sparkling quality, making it feel like stepping into a sun-drenched garden patio of your coolest aunt. There’s something incredibly special about it! I liked it so much I ended up buying a backup FB of this 2023 new release, open to trades or sale.

Hi everyone - I went to the Chanel counter a few months ago for my beloved Cristalle and was told it was no longer...and now I see here that it's back. Has anyone experienced and reviewed this version? It feels like the notes are completely different - oak moss and vetiver where are you? Or is that only the EDT. Is it the same Cristalle or something completely different.

@Kuty22, saying a perfume ' smells like an annoying senior citizen' is not a review, nor is it helpful. I wouldn't think of adding this to your collection personally, it's for those with excellent taste who can appreciate fine French fragrance and wear it well.

Definitely a spring summer vibe. A hint of an ashtray type smell. very green and very citrusy. I'm on the fence about this one. They don't even have this in the USA. I finally got my hands on a bottle. I will come back and update once the fragrance is older.

I hope someone would give an honest review here so that I would know if it is a safe blind buy. Please comment if it’s a safe blind buy. I am into Bright crystal, D&G light blue, Moschino I love love, and eclat d arpege.

Calm down everyone, just as Babbino already said, the formula remains unchanged from the previous version. The same ingredients are listed on the box, as well as the same formula code. No change, only a new look!

This smells like an annoying senior citizen (but you know they used to have fun back in the day😌) I love it though, I'm waiting for the opportunity to add it to my collection

@A_Ferrera that would be a no. I just hope the notes listed are inaccurate, otherwise, it's not even a reformulation. It's a completely different fragrance entirely.

What a dry and bitter opening this one has! Then it gets slightly more floral but retains a ”dated” feel all the way through. Not my favorite.

I've just had the confirmation from Chanel Canada that the formula stays the same. It's not a new fragrance just a new bottle design.

Very beautiful version, definitely more of honeysuckle and it feels more sophisticated and elegant. Bought it without hesitating

So does this new version have Oakmoss at all? That’s one of the main reasons I’d get it tbh. Needs the oakmoss!

This has the Cristelle dna, but lack “the cold b**** attitude”. I guess the problem, is the artificial oak moss
