Gabrielle L'Eau

This is fresh, uplifting and watery. Very well blended - I can't make out any individual notes, and looking at the note pyramid, these are not notes that typically appeal to me, so that's a testament to the Olivier Polge and how he has managed to create such a sophisticated and delicate blend. Gabrielle L'eau hovers in the air and it sparkles. I heard someone compare it to the effect of Chance Eau Vive, and I agree with that. It's the sparkling effect. And unlike anything from the Chance line, I actually quite like this perfume. There is something very comforting about it... motherly and nurturing, but not a scent I would associate with my own mother, just the archetype of a mother. It's like bottling the effect of a sunshower - my favourite weather event. It reminds me so much of how the sunlight pierces through the water droplets, making them sparkle like diamonds. It doesn't happen often, and no matter how old I get I always feel pure joy when it happens. Because of the rarity, the sheer beauty of it and the rainbow that I know will come afterwards. Gabrielle L'eau bottles all of that beautifully, and it's that kind of emotional association that makes me like it so much. The only thing I don't like is the longevity. Much like a sunshower, I suppose something this beautiful was only destined to be fleeting. Whether I want to pay Chanel prices for that is another thing. I'll definitely continue to explore this one and see whether my feelings remain the same, or I find there is another Chanel freshie that I like more, other than Cristalle Eau Verte, which I also enjoy very much but feel is far too simple to justify the price tag.

L'Eau is delightful. I know it is not the longest lasting but for the Summer heat here in Florida it is perfection. I was not sure if I wanted it when I first smelled it awhile back but it has sort of captured me this Summer. I received a sample from my Chanel SA. Then when that was almost gone I ordered a large bottle. It is a white floral with some musk. Not a heavy musk. A refined light musk. There is a berry note that is sweet but not overpowering just a touch of it here. The florals are delightful. Jasmine is the most prominant to my nose. Then I pick up some orange flower. The green note is also there in a light and airy way. Nothing about this fragrance is dank. It is gentle and yet upscale. I find it a delightful pick me up midday. It sort of reminds me of an Guerlain Aqua Allegoria but with that Chanel refinement that is unmistakeable. I also have found that the Gabrielle lotion is great to help with longevity. If that is concern for some I recommend it. I do love reapplying as this is one of those attitude adjusting spritzers. I am in love.

For anyone that loves the smell of N°1 DE CHANEL L'Eau Rouge but disappointed by the way it fades so fast ... THIS IS THAT FRAGRANCE — amplified! I caved and bought the L'Eau Rouge because I love the smell. I've been wearing it nearly every day during the summer but, again, I hate that it fades so quickly. When I tried the Gabrielle L'Eeau at Ulta the other day, it struck me that it smelled just like Rogue but a little more potent and lasted way longer! Saving up for this one, for sure. SO GOOD! ETA: It smells NOTHING like the original Gabrielle or Essence. I purchased samples from Microperfumes and woah! Way too matronly, IMHO. Gabrielle L'Eeau is so delicate, subtly floral, and fresh.

I haven't been a huge fan of Gabrielle. I remember smelling the original briefly and thinking it was too sharp and citrus-heavy, whereas the Essence was nice but so blended that the florals had lost their character. Now in this L'eau version the florals are still pretty much blended to boredom, but what made me instantly fall in love with this scent are the berries - they actually remind me of my long lost love Miss Dior Cherie. As the scent dries down the berries are unfortunately lost, but the soft musk with the pleasant-yet-anonymous florals is quite nice; it retains some creaminess and doesn't feel hollow as many fresh scents do as they dry down. A new favorite casual freshie!

This is an absolutely beautifully constructed fragrance. I like florals but do not wear them too often, I find white florals can be cloying on me. I appreciated the original but it wasn’t to my personal taste, particularly the heart notes went a bit heavy on me. This however is absolutely beautiful. I get a lot of juicy citrus in the opening, there’s a very subtle laundry impression from the brighter florals and top notes and the floralcy is present, white floral but airy and creamy at the same time. If you are hesitant with florals and like citrus and green notes I would absolutely give this a try.

It sparkles. The more I smell this fragrance the more I like it. I bought it because I miss Coco Mademoiselle (which I can't wear anymore). And it reminds me a little bit of Coco Mademoiselle... except it's her young carefree niece. This is a light happy joyful perfume. I tend to not like florals. But this is a very fresh floral. Recently I sat in my garden among the flowers while the rain misted down and the sun shone cheerfully overhead and the birds sang: it's that. This is the scent of light spring rain in a flower garden bright with sunshine.

Fresh, sexy, youthful version of Gabrielle! If the essence version belongs to a billionaires kept wife (as I alluded in a previous review), this one most certainly belongs to their daughter with the already-large investment portfolio and fat trust fund. These fragrances smell like MONEY, and L’eau is no exception. Clean, classy, but also a little fruity, very fresh, and playfully fun. I like this one a lot — I love the Gabrielle range in general but this one really shines. Perfect for a spring in NYC to summer in the Hamptons type of signature.

I’ve been searching for a perfume to layer with the regular Gabrielle EDP to brighten it and no matter how many I tried none quite... fit. I know L’eau has been out for a while but I just got it and it’s EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been layering it over Gabrielle EDP and it gave it the brightness and sweetness I needed! It’s so light and airy I just wish it had more sillage (I get that it’s a EDT), but I have no problem spraying more of it.

I really love this version of Gabrielle. I have the OG but find after having my bubba I'm reaching for lighter scents. Firstly the opening to L'eau is gorgeous! Sweet but not too sweet, fresh berries and tea then dries down quite quickly to a musky skin base with a whisper of the classic Chanel DNA. This is exactly what I've been looking for, something beautiful and unassuming which I can make my own.

Lots of disparaging reviews on this one, so I was really hesitant my first time smelling it. However, I found this to be a beautiful, albeit not complex, perfume. If you want to smell clean, clear, and feminine, this is perfect. Has an almost sparkling quality to it that I adore, and lasts moderately well on my skin. Definitely pleasantly surprised, and went back to get myself a full bottle!

I'm not a fan of Gabrielle EDP, but this is an instant love from the first sniff! What a gorgeous, feminine, uplifting, fresh and sparkling scent! You just can't go wrong with it. My fav fruity/floral fag this summer 10/10! 🥰🩷👌

It’s really pretty. I never liked Gabriele. But this one is sweet, light and young. Gorgeous fragrance!

This should be called “Eau de nothing toilet” totally disappointed in this launch, I usually love most Chanel fragrances and been wearing their fragrances for a few decades. I purchased this the other day and it was an immediate return the next day, when I first sprayed it there was a burst of fruit and floral with a lot of citrus. It was so beautiful! BUT...after two hours, I could not detect anything on my skin and nothing on my clothes. Even my husband could not detect anything, not even a skin sent after two hours. It also started to dissipate after about an hour. By the two hour mark, I couldn’t smell anything. I went back to the store the same day, the sales representative that sold it to me could not even smell it either and totally agreed with me. We were really surprised it was that weak. I know it’s called L’eau and it’s suppose to be light, but this is ridiculously light, not even worth it if you ask me. Although,I must say the flanker is quite stunning and fits nice in your hand, I went back and exchanged it for the essence, which has 20 times more longevity and projection. Chanel, I don’t know what you’re doing, but this is a complete flop in my opinion, and for the price point It’s definitely not worth it. They also raised their prices again and this fragrance in 100 ML is now at $220 plus tax.. I understand it’s Chanel, and I don’t have a problem paying for quality, but I need to at least get 6 to 8 hours out of my fragrances if I’m going to be paying this price point! Longevity: 2/10 Projection: 4/10 Scent: 8/10

Ok - this is delicious. It's getting hate because it's overpriced as Chanel usually is - yes. Agree. But it's now my favourite of the three Gabrielles. Ranking: L'Eau > Essence > EDP This one has this juicy red berry in the top, without being tart or too "creamy" (I actually find Gabrielle Essence very creamy and almost beachy, maybe it's the coconut). It's a simple, fresh fruity-floral. In airconditioning (or cooler weather), like barry1052, I also get a little bit of a tea (but a floral tea). Back in the humid outdoors, more fruity floral, but less choking than Gabrielle Essence for sure. Scent: simple, feminine, put-together, not mind-blowing but very easy to wear Projection: average Longevity: better than you'd think for a L'Eau. The same as the Essence for me. Value for money: Look, none of the Gabrielles are mind-blowing at the Chanel prices. But I think this one is the easiest to wear, and that makes it worth it (at retail) for me.

I’ve never been able to get into the OG Gabrielle; it’s just too grown lady/mature smelling to me. And I’m in my early 50s! Lol. But Gabrielle L’Eau is what I was after. She’s so pretty and feminine, and definitely “younger” than the original. A youthful (but not at all teenager-y) floral bouquet that just smells like a pretty girl/woman. It doesn’t have a WOW factor, but she’s definitely lovely and I’m glad I bought the 1.7 fl oz/50 ml bottle. Looks gorgeous and I’m really enjoying wearing it.

Another beautiful creation by Chanel. More of a green and citrussy in comparison to edp. Very refreshing, pleasant pick me up daytime scent. Reminds me slightly of chance eau tendre. I could not decide between edp, so purchased mini and used it up in a week. I find myself using this one more, when I want to smell great but cannot decide what scent to put on. Safe classy choice. Great for springtime, and it does smell better in cooler weather (I think all Chanels do).

It smells like a fruity tea at first this is not the type of green as for N19 but leans a bit green-tea like ~ less white floral than edp & essence not that creamy as well, I can’t wear the edp and essence in the summer but this version L’eau is a summer Gabrielle for sure ! Fresh and clean dry down to a soapy scent will comeback for more updates

this smells like the pantene shampoo (: i very much enjoy it. it is feminine, pretty and the classic chanel high quality. i can picture a young 20-40 year old woman wearing this, but of course anyone can wear this fragrance, this is just the age range i think would enjoy this most. the packaging is gorgeous as well.

This reminds me so much on serpent bohème by Boucheron.- I'm surprised no one mentioned it here...I really like it but it sucks that it's so weak that you can barely smell it after half an hour. Anyway, the scent is beautiful, simple yet enchanting. Maybe it will stand out more in high temperatures

An elegant, light, floral classic. These perfumes are smooth, polite, warm, and luminous from start to finish. Subtle in perception, they sit close to the skin. The classic, effortless elegance of a young Chanel woman. Safe blind buy for a young lady.

An Elegant white floral with berries and musk. I actually like it. Not as sharp as the Essence and original. A softer take. I wish it lasted longer and had more projection. A bit "light" but it is in the name.

This was also given to me as a sample and I find this ok. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I smell an orange note in this but is not listed. For me this smells like an orange with a hint of jasmine.

White Foral straight up. With a bit of aldehyde but its not giving old granny perfume. I smelled elegance, expensive. Pretty long lasting fragrance.

I loveee the smell of this, it's my favourite scent at the moment. I just wish it lasted longer considering the price.

This perfume is seriously not that wonderful and it is an unneeded flanker to the original Gabrielle, which is honestly much better than this. Gabrielle L'eau does not remind me at all of the original Gabrielle and it (Gabrielle L'eau) is very sweet, fruity, cheap and synthetic smelling. I don't smell most of the white flowers in this scent and I only BARELY get a hint of orange blossom. (I agree that this smells like Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian, which is also incredibly sweet and has white florals that are overpowered by the fruity notes.) Sillage is average at best and so is the performance, barely lasting 6 hours on my skin. The price is okay though and it honestly isn't exorbitant in my opinion. I just don't think that Gabrielle L'eau is at all original and it kind of reminds me of a Victoria's Secret body spray. 5/10 from me for this concotion.

A bit of a disappointment to be honest. This has no longevity and requires frequent reapplications during the day, a bit like a fragance mist. On the positive side, it can be light and pleasantly refreshing in summer. I don't smell any white flowers (I wish) but mostly (sour) red berries and musk. I do enjoy it while it lasts! This was a present so I'm not complaining too much, and the bottle design is very elegant.

I’m a fan of Chanel! But this was so basic like any light floral from any time period and it faded on me in five mins!! My Chanel 5 leau lasted much better than this and projected

I tried it today at Nordstrom but it wasn’t for me. Just too fruity for my taste. I prefer Gabrielle and G. Essence. Won’t be adding it to my collection.

A terrible flat fruity-something that can be appealing for a 15 yo who wants to tell her friend at school that she wears a Chanel's.

Go for the Essence. You do not need this at all. It's totally not what No 5 L'eau is to No 5, or even L'eau Privee to Coco Mademoiselle.

I really can’t stand the Gabriel line. Fruity Floral 2/10

This is not really similar to the OG Gabby. It is in the same vein of Versace Bright Christal (VBC), Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty (CKSB) and even maybe a little Cerutti 1881. It has a very refreshing opening and leaves a floral fresh feeling behind for just a jiffy before disappearing into oblivion. I think it is remarkably similar to CKSB in the way it smells but CKSB has a much better performance.

This is a nice, pleasant, pretty floral scent, but it smells nothing like the original Gabrielle or its flankers thus far. At least the original Gabby had *some* character (although that is debatable), but this one literally smells like a cheap drugstore fragrance that I would perhaps wear to the gym. Pass.

Why are Chanel fragrances so expensive in the US and Canada? I mean, they aren’t cheap in Europe either, but still there’s a difference in European and North American pricing. I’ve just checked conversion rates and Gabrielle (in all versions) should cost about 175-180 USD for 100ml (with tax included!)

I just got it today so first impression is a crisp soft floral, I don’t get any fruits and I expected it more creamy and a bit sweet I won’t call it boring but the original had more punch , this smells watery to me but still with a hint of class. Not a love but the Chanel style.

Gabrielle L'Eau, by Chanel, smelss like cranberry juice, jasmine and wild strawberries. A sour berry scent with a touch of floral to make the composition less sharp.

This feels like a mix of the original Gabrielle with Prada La Femme. I can feel some honey; perhaps honeyed florals or a smooth beeswax note.

I haven't liked any of the Gabrielle's until this one it's bright and fresh, I'm not getting lots of fruit it's a crisp white floral

All Chanel fragrances (except perhaps for Allure, and its Intense version) have been weakened and watered down at the altar of IFRA.
