Fator Top

Released in 2013, Fator TOP was created by Fabiano JS, perfumer and founder of the brand, and is categorized as citric-woody. The inspiration was the places with tropical climates around the globe. In its official composition there are notes of bergamot, coriander, Artemisia, verbena and sweet orange, in the output. Then, in the body of the fragrance, oriental notes, spices and geranium. Finally, the base is composed with notes of patchouli, honey and vanilla. Fator TOP is that kind of timeless scent. On the skin, it works more like a fougère than as a citric-woody. In fact, if I didn't have access to the notes and be told that the composition has notes of moss, I would believe. The opening is rich in verbena, but it's not very citric, not even with the help of bergamot. The spices are suppressing any exaggerated content of the citrus notes and the honey seems to be present in all stages of the composition. While evolving on the skin, it is possible to feel the similarity with many other famous colognes, such as Drakkar Noir, Giorgio for Men, Gentleman (Givenchy) or Moustache (Rochas). The evolution of Fator TOP has many nuances of those classics that never go out of fashion and represent sober men. For this reason, although the High Perfumery is against the marketing by genres, I would say that this one is more suitable for men. With respect to the basic evaluation issues, Fator TOP has great projection, exuding very well for about 3 hours and lasting for about 8 hours. It should be remembered that is an Eau de Parfum. In terms of presentation, particularly, I don't like the bottle. In fact, looking some pictures on the internet, the initial collection (when the company was founded) seemed more interesting than this, which brings this application of colored strings. Without doubt, there is a huge manual work, but I think that there is a lack of cohesion, both in bottles and in finishing: the lids are different, the fonts used do not present well the name of the fragrances, etc. All this, in my opinion, end up giving a "cheap" aspect to the products, which could be using simple finishing bottles, in the same style of great houses in the business, like Serge Lutens, for example. What saves the products are the boxes, which are made of wood and covered with fabric, giving a little more luxury to the final product. Anyway, it's nothing that can't be studied and improved.
