I agreed with Truffles, there’s a hint of Anais Anais. Very soapy too.

Argh... Celebre by Avon but just tone down the rose ever so slightly & add a load of grass and voila, this is what you get. Also agree with Truffles about the aftershave... When I first opened this I really liked it... less than an hour later I didn't like it.

Croyance by Charrier The name translates as faith or belief. Amazingly, I am now directly comparing two versions of Croyance separated in time by more than sixty years! Indeed, the older bottle is labelled as 'Charles V', a former trade name used by Charrier. The disappointing result is that there is no comparison to be made, quite literally so, The formula has been COMPLETELY changed, no, replaced. Only the name remains the same. Even sadder, it is the older fragrance that is immeasurably more rich and pleasurable ...Yes, even after 60+ years (so much for progress). Don't believe the tales of vintage perfumes going off (very often). Rather such quality ingredients were truly built to last, even if some top notes do inevitably escape into the aether. Obviously there is nothing else to do but provide two completely separate reviews. Croyance by Charles V, from the 1950s or early 1960s. Testing it now on blotter and skin, I detect notes of peach brandy, honey, cinnamon, roses, ylang-ylang, other floral touches, oakmoss, and wood. Yes, the overall effect is similar to many other well-aged and honeyed chypres. ...and that is a glorious thing. Croyance by Charrier, from sometime in the past decade or so. A green muguet, lightly overlain with rosy peony and jasmine. A warm musk rests below. One must be fair, This is fine for being a simple muguet spring floral. I've smelled many worse muguet-leading fragrances than this. Of course, comparing it to a vintage chypre will make it seem cheap and plain, but this is a decently wearable scent. Also, despite what has been written below, this scent is not particularly similar to Cacharel's Anaïs Anaïs, which is much less green and not predominantly a muguet.

Anais Anais .. .. half an hour later, aftershave. Sorry, I can't be more descriptive about what kind of aftershave but if I was going to buy an aftershave, it wouldn't be this one.
