Mademoiselle Charrier

Hi Veda, I read your review and I remembered to have an old mini bottle for collection of Mademoiselle Charrier, surely oroginal and vintage, but completely different from the one here reported. I forgot completely to have this mignon ( 15 ml not so little), and honestly I must confess That I don't know anything about Charrier fragrances and that I never smelt any perfume of this brand neither this one, and I never saw any of them in any shop. I don't remember neither as I obtained the mignon, maybe inside a magazine many years ago.I tested after reading your discussion about similarity with Poison. Oh my God, you're completely right, it reminds the original old Poison, maybe sweeter and less spicy IMO. I don't know neither if it's again on the market nor where I could find it, but I think it could be a must for Poison lovers. I find instead Rumba very different, more noisy and louder. Finally give it a try.

Simply, a horror. I recently aquired a new 10 perfume set of miniature by Charrier and am working my way through testing them. In the bottle, Mademoiselle Charrier smelled a bit 'hippyish' to me, so I had high hopes for it and doused myself in it before going out on a shopping trip yesterday. Very quickly, though, I realised that I really don't like this one. A very strange smell which I thought was a bit reminiscent of CK Eternity (which I hate), but now I read the Poison comparisons I'm thinking 'ahhhh' - was never too keen on that either and can maybe see a slight similarity. I ended up trying to get all of this one off with soaked babywipes but my long hair had been down when I'd gone out in Mademoiselle and I'd only just washed it and now I keep getting a slight whiff of . . PESTO when I move my head in certain ways. Yes, pesto - basil, or maybe some weird accord containing the eugenol from the cloves here. I'm afraid that family of smells is actually worse for me than the smell of poo - really. A good spray of Agent Provocateur(original)to the back of my neck and a good swirl of my hair around it has almost saved the day . . Have to say I'm distinctly unimpressed with the house of Charrier so far - 3 of the ten minis have now been moved to the 'don't want' side of the cupboard . .

This is a fairly complex perfume, and rather unusual too. Charrier deserves more respect. The bottle I'm sampling form is different. It has a imbricately sculpted gold-tone rose for a cap. Also Fragrantica's note pyramid is more accurate and identifiable than usual. There certainly is plum, anise, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, amber and musk. The florality is light but present, rose and tuberose seem a fair estimation. Is it similar to Poison? ..Let's just say it's somewhat poisonous. Actually, Mademoiselle Charrier is more delicate and transparently nuanced. ...But if you layered it with an exuberantly excessive white floral. Giorgio? Full? Then sure, it might get as loud and trashy as Dior.
