La Petite Prairie

Shawn really nailed the concept with this one: a modernized timeless scent based around the scents associated with an open prairie. The opening is quite bracing and sharp, but slowly, a pleasant gentle softness emerges, both aromatic and juicy. The vetiver is only in the background and serves as grassy reminder of the fragrance-name, but I would never consider this a vetiver dominated scent. Strange that several other reviewers don’t get rhubarb in this, but I certainly do. It lends that semi-bitter juiciness that is its hallmark. This is extremely pleasant as it dries down to a soft floral, calming aromatic blend. It might lean a tad feminine in this respect but certainly is for anyone. Great work! It’s a very strong fragrance, especially for the first hour. Lasts a long time too

Pineapple, rhubarb, tea, and light florals sit atop a smooth vetiver base. The tea comes as a result of the pineapple accord, but it’s a major player. LPP is juicy and sweet, but not overly so. It performs like an EDP, as do all the frags I’ve tried from this house. If you enjoy fruity fragrances with a kiss of florals, you owe it to yourself to at least try a sample. Beautiful stuff, this.

Having grown up in the Great Plains, I thought this would a comfortable scent. It is, but to me smells more like my second home in northern New Mexico near the Arizona border. Probably the aromatics in it. Either way it is a lovely scent that both my husband and I like.

The pineapple note here is really nice.....Long lasting edt more than 8 hours with moderate sillage.You can blind buy this if you love pineapple.It also generates many compliments.

This is a very genuine rhubarb scent. Photorealistic in the opening with a juicy, tomatoey, citric, watery, refreshing, and ripe tang indicative of freshly picked rhubarb stalks for the first couple minutes. If *Ripe* or *Ripeness* were ever a concept in fragrance it would smell exactly like the opening of La Petite Prairie. Green, refreshing and juicy. La Petite Prairie showed promise the first day I tested it but as I test it in different situations, climates and otherwise there is something from its profile makes me slightly self-conscious when I wear it. Obviously great ingredients are used in this composition however blended in a way that produces something slightly off. La Petite Prairie takes an unfortunate turn in the mid where some herbal, medicinal, character shows its head and smells like the exact same scent profile of a product known as Citronella Mist Insect Repellant but with a fruity, tangy rhubarb masking the medicine. The Citronella Mist is an all-natural product that is Deet-free and is also a body spray. Citronella Mist smells naturally of citronella but in La Petite Prairie I don't know which note is causing this strange, stale, green, medicinal facet. It is green but in a slightly discordant way, with a duality of refreshing but somehow also stale, like molded, bitter, citrus rinds but thankfully not chlorinated. It is nowhere near as unbearable as Malik Al Taif by Areej Le Doré which is unwearable for me because it smells exactly of the Citronella mosquito repellant incense coils I used and not of something that should be worn. Somehow the fruity rhubarb in La Petite Prairie which starts fantastically with a refreshingly, fruity, tomatoey and watery profile, slightly saves it from smelling too commercial or cheap to my nose. But the other notes are struggling to combine to maintain the well-thought out Rhubarb note. In the far dry-down of La Petite Prairie almost 7-8+ hours later the stale medicine facet leaves and the fragrance smells very refreshing, green and clean once again. La Petite Prairie get points for uniqueness, performance and ultimately being a natural smelling composition for a Spring and Summer freshie but loses points in execution. In my opinion, something must be left out of this formula because the juicy rhubarb note is being burdened throughout the wearing experience by something once again stale like spoiled citruses in sunbaked drinking water. I've been hard on La Petite Prairie, but somehow I do really enjoy what it does if I ignore a part of its profile, unfortunately in the air it remains too stale smelling to warrant more enthusiastic wearings. I will keep testing it to see if my opinion somehow changes later. 8/10

Rhubarb only in the drydown, and it is crisp and green, not sweet and fruity. I will overlook the fact that no listed notes in the composition are present on any prairie and give this a 'like'.

This a fresh fragrance that has some uniqueness. The citrus, vetiver and florals are joined by a fresh natural rhubarb, and some herbal notes in the drydown. Not a sweet rhubarb pie thing, more like cutting up fresh rhubarb. However its too fresh, light and airy for me. This is a unisex fragrance, but I think may slightly lean feminine.

I don't know what people are sniffing or if they are voting based on notes. This is NOT a rhubarb fragrance. I own tons of them. This bitter and herbal with an ambergris saltiness. It is all vetiver, rosemary and geranium. Not a fan of these types of fragrances but if you like herbal then you may enjoy this one. No fruits in it at all.

Quick first impressions: Springtime in a bottle. Nice juicy citrus start, quickly moving into an herbal and grassy vetiver. A little bit of bitterness mixes with light gender neutral florals in the heart, and it gets drier as it moves into the base. Almost smells like there could be a gentle dry sandalwood, but this could be the java vetiver. You'll probably like this if you like vetiver. Very natural feeling, and looking forward to further samples. I love Confluence and Santal Auster, and this one is really good for it's style and is gender neutral, and feels classic while retaining modern sensibilities. That seems to be the M.O. for the house.

It started off with a wonderful rhubarb-citrus blast which kept me captivated, and then...then the vetiver crept in. Yuck. In no universe could I ever enjoy this. Not at fan AT ALL.
