Weinstrasse

I've visited Germany twice. Three times if we are counting the time my mom was carrying me. Let me not beat around the bush with this one, this fragrance is very close to my heart for many reasons. I visited my dad on his business trip in Germany decades ago. We took a spontaneous trip to a town a few miles away from Frankfurt that had a local castle which we toured. Afterwards we were walking down a large street of a town looking for a good place to eat. I wasn't old enough to drink in the US but my dad promised me a good beer since drinking age in Germany is 16. We approach an old tavern-like restaurant that seemed to be in the process of setting up for dinner since no one was there yet to eat. It was noticeable that the store was preparing for a sizable dinner rush as the smell of German cuisine like, currywurst, pork knuckle, pretzle, mustard and Kartoffelklöße were all present. Showing promise we settled for it. A strong beer and wine aroma was etched into the restaurant's atmosphere and of course its varnished thick wooden benches. I had a pork schnitzel and my father had a pork knuckle and we both paired the meal with a dark bready beer for full satisfaction. Weinstrasse will forever remind me of that meal and is subsequently the same smell of every authentic German restaurant I've visited. Weinstrasse, a woody atmosphere with a perpetual fruity, musty, booziness left in the air by wine and beer from the bar made by a tart and juicy grape note and a pissy, smokey, spicy, immortelle with blackcurrant leaves. Underneath a tart, comforting cool, herbal glow of German air in the Summer delivered by a green, earthy and bitter oakmoss and rooty, earthy, iris that expertly tempers everything and smells of tall wet grass on the countryside wafting in a strong breeze. Smoothly blended to fulfill an original concept. A very well done and unique chypre that does not reference anything and could quite possibly be a trendsetter in the genre. The aroma of Weinstrasse to me is quite possibly the closest a perfume has ever gotten to an authentic quality dessert spiced wine. Bitter, herbal, tart, earthy, with an understated yeasty and fruity sweetness. Refreshing, dreamy, cozy. Excellent!!! 🍇🍷🍺 10/10

Strange and beautiful. The grape top note is tempered with a musty delicate sweetness, then the drydown becomes another thing entirely with the oakmoss and immortelle? Lasted forever on my skin and even longer on my clothing. NIche quality and daring. Smells as natural as could be. Like a hayride through a vineyard at midnight when the shrubs have dew on them. Probably not a blind-buy for most, but this is full bottle worthy for me.

As a German, I didn't know that beside the 'Hessische Weinstraße' und the 'Pfälzer Weinstraße', there is another Weinstrasse in Missouri. Shawn Maher pays tribute to his maternal ancestors with this fragrance and lets me smell shrubs, grapes, mosses and a very nice immortelle note at the end. A modern, innovative fougère without lavender. Very remarkable and well done!

Smells like you're on a patio chair in a vineyard, right next to a field of freshly mown hay. On my skin, the hay is the prominent note, with the fruity and herbal notes filling in the cracks and smoothing it out. Very much a scent that invokes sunshine outdoors.

OK, SearchingScents wrote what is possibly the best review I’ve ever read. That said, it’s also spot on. This is an awesome scent and while I’ve never been to Germany, I do love currywurst and German wine. This one sounds different, and is, but it works!

Fantastic scent, that was a love at my first encounter. Top note of white grapes, followed by the hay and oakmoss. Dry down is wicked. Bought a bottle almost immediately after my first wearing, and although an EDT, it performs like a EDP.

Weinstrasse has an unique composition. Immortalle with some greeness matched with sourness from wine and sweetness from iris. Also, there is a leathery feeling in the drydown. I really enjoyed the composition in terms of creativity but unfortunately I could't wear it. Weinstrasse is not versitile.

It's musty in more ways than one. That is, there is a white grape must quality as well as a "musty" earthiness from the oakmoss, iris, cassis, and immortelle. It's somewhat too barnyard-esque for my tastes, but it is an impressive capture of the essence of St. Louis countryside in a bottle nonetheless.

To me this smells like fresh cut grass and a hard cider or fruity IPA. Definitely an old school profile. Honestly, it isn’t my thing. But I know for a fact that some older dudes on here will fall absolutely in love with this juice. Definitely fits confidently alongside other niche masculines. 6.2/10

Where's the grape? So much immortelle and oakmoss impression. Nothing that would conjure wine or vineyards. I am often far at odds with the bestowers of "best of" awards, and this is one more example.

this is horrid; I don't dislike it, I hate it; I expected grapes and a wine fragrance not bitter herbal horridness; this is fake oakmoss, immortelle and some smoke and sandalwood; dry and bitter

strongly disliked this perfume. The wine smell came through, which didn't bother me per se but not sure I want to smell like that, and a rubbery smell, backed by some musty oakmoss/cassis. Not for me!

This one was inches away from being perfect. INCHES. I did overspray, though (first time using), so next time I will only spray ONCE (henceforth known as the Kiste law), and so I need to try again, with only one soft spray. The oakmoss and iris kinda clash, a bit, causing a slight metallic tinge to the body. The grapes are wonderful, the immortelle is excellent, and everything else works well. Its just that metallic screech. If it's still there next time I try it, then it's going to be a no... It comes across with some iris-like qualities, though with metallic notes which unfortunately magnify over time. The metallic screech amps up around 2 or 3 hours in and it doesn’t let up until the dry down which is indeed unfortunate. It had potential on paper, but it didn’t live up to the hype I had built up myself. I did a minimal spray, but it just isn’t meant to be, I guess...

Immediately scrub. Any man I encounter that wears this, I would run the other way. Too dominant of a scent.
