Neroli a la Cardamome du Guatemala

An absolute stunner. Superlative citrus of impeccable unisex appeal, with a beautiful aura of cleanliness and fresh air, and even beyond that, also mind-blowingly well-engineered. Neroli perfection, in effect: this is very close indeed to the legendary Tom Ford Neroli Portofino with a very slightly less-sweet edge, and yet - crucially - somehow tweaked to give it absolutely kickass longevity. I'd love it even harder if I could actually detect the pepper or cardamom, though. I'd been chasing this all over the Web and the globe for months, having heard about it, and had been hoping it might be utterly transcendent, given my love of neroli and spice. It's not quiiiiiiiite there, though - the neroli could never be mistaken for anything else, and it's gorgeous, but the extra trimmings are kept so discreet they pass undetected under my smell-threshold. Still, it's a heartstoppingly good neroli: not bitter, not sweet, not imitated or stretched with anything too ambery or warm or powdery. So, as a true neroli-head, I'd say that while this might displace TF Portofino from my fragrance wardrobe it still couldn't edge out Yves Rocher Secrets d'Essences Neroli or Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir, as those two have a far more golden aura and a very different smell. Chopard Neroli is really the same aroma as TF Portofino, but just done better: never a hint of sherbert-lemon or cleaning-spray orange, just the genuine article all the way down. Bottle is gorgeous (oh, that sapphire blue!) and the scent's staying power is almost scarily good - especially for a citrus. I had thought it was a truism-because-it's-true that 'citrus scents almost never last', that the neroli note is notoriously shortlived, etc, but obviously that's all nonsense because this wonderful juice still gives out plenty of joy as many as 8-9h after application, even on me (where so many great perfumes often disappear without trace). The only issue is the price - at the high end, but still competitive to TF and giving (in my view) at least twice to three times the value. This is one classy contender. Definitely one of the finest nerolis ever made, even if it's not the most individual or offbeat. Jump on it if you get a good deal.

Mannnnn, this is such a hidden gem. I was shopping for creeds i Manila (it's cheap there) and since the weather is perpetually hot there, I tried this on. Mannnnn, it's the best neroli scent I've ever tried. I've smelled (and own) quite a few and this is the best I own. I even like it more than Jardin D'amalfi, which I paid a much higher price for. I'm quite curious about the perfumes the review below referenced (guerlain and yves rocher), cos to date I haven't smelled anything better. I do agree that it blows TF neroli portofino out of the water. I've recommended this scent to a few friends and none of them have bought it, blind or otherwise. Chopard just doesn't advertise their fragrances much and there's just no hype with them. Mannnnn, smell this if you spot it at the store. Blind buy it if you spot it at an online discounter. The ratings on this page is on point. The perfume has a lot of character for a neroli summer scent. The cardamom adds another layer of complexity.

It is a gorgeous neroli, orange blossom and cardamom beauty. It was the twist of spices that made me want to try it. The neroli is no 1 here with the more heavy, narcotic orange blossom a little distance behind. There is a wee bit of sweetness from the orange to soften. The ambrette is the musk element softening and stopping any hard edges. They keep this just about a unisex scent. It is almost a linear scent but the neroli gets more intense and sadly the orange and orange blossom almost vanish after 15 mins or so. The cardamom also becomes much more to fore as well. I've been looking for my ideal fresh, neroli warm weather scent and I think I've found it. Fresh, elegant with a twist of spice. It smells high end. I get moderate longevity and sillage in this 20 degree room.

Hands down this is the best Neroli perfume ever created. I wouldn't say this is identical to Neroli Portofino, it is more bright and lacks the Musc undertone, so it feels more clean and airy. It lasts longer though and it feels more luxurious and niche. No idea why this doesn't get a lot more hype, I guess Chopard is not very popular scent-wise, moreover this series never was widely available. Hopefully you can find this online so much cheaper than the official retail price, I got mine with a -60% discount. Don't sleep on it, just get it before it is gone forever. Huge like.

This is my happy perfume, it reminds me of carefree summer vacations, it smells like the sun and the wind that whispers through the orange and neroli trees. I like it more than the TF, it smells more natiural, also it is quite long lasting about 5-6 hours. I have a 100ml bottle and I truly enjoy every drop of it, it blends so beautifully with my natural skin scent.

This is a nice citrusy, slightly floral scent, with an undercurrent of spice. I enjoyed wearing this a lot more than I expected. It's a nice alternative to all the fresh citrusy scents out there. My only wish is that the cardomon had been a bit more noticeable.

Whoa mama, I absolutely love a good clean scent and this one is amazing. Intimate but intoxicating citrus musk soap or lotion. But not like TOO soapy, just clean and crisp and fresh. I wish it projected a bit more but I'm in love with it honestly.

Excellent. Everything about it is precisely what it should be - great materials, great contribution of the cardamom, which I am often not a fan of, the mandarin orange was perfectly chosen - just excellent work. Tom Ford, eat your heart out.

I bought the discovery set for this collection. This is the one that stands the most. Beautiful Neroli scent, however I'm still wondering if I should get a full bottle of this or Fredric Malle Indelebile. They are both a classy Neroli scent.

It's a very good perfume. I prefer this to TF Neroli Portofino. In my opinion, it is a bit more complex and has more character. I bought it for about 100$ and it is an excellent price - value proposition.

I really like this, but WHY has no one compared it to Fleurs d’Oranger by Serge Lutens? Citrus, neroli, orange blossoms, musk and wood. And cardamom instead of cumin. To my nose they are very much alike.

This is an improved version of TF Neroli Portofino with a much better longevity. Tried it out yesterday and love it. Great quality and well blended. Once i finish my TF bottle I‘m switching to this.

Yes! I agree with RB75 in that this is a far superior version of TF Neroli Portofino and at £195 you get 100ml of a very dense, rich and high oil content carrying Neroli superiore. Sadly, summer is now a long gone history, so I will not add this into my collection. Beautiful bottle as well. Finally, a prime release from the otherwise lacklustre release repertoire of this formidable jeweller and watchmaker.

The bottle, the cap and the sprayer are excellent! It doesn't smell exactly like TF Neroli Portofino, but it's in the same genre for sure. I think I prefer Chopard to TF, because it's more likeable, more easy to wear. It is soft and velvety, not sharp and piercing. Performance isn't good, unfortunately. I sprayed a lot in the summer heat, and got no projection at all.

it is a high quality and similar to TF Neroli Portofino. However projection and longevity seems even less than TF. But this fragrance 4 times less $ than TF. Also bottle and presentation 10 times better than TF.

This is a beautiful composition. It isn't really a soliflore, because the Neroli/orange blossom don't quite take centre stage, but neither do any of the other notes until the very end of the dry down. Initial spray: Neroli, orange... yep, both there - they unfold quickly but have no sharp edges, no hefty bitterness or sweetness. Perfectly balanced. Within a few moments, the cardamom arrives in it's spicy green glory, providing a warmth and familiarity right away. This smells unisex to me at this point. 1 hour in: the orange has faded almost completely, but the neroli/orange blossom/cardamom waft about in a mysterious way,slightly incensy, but without being sickly or cloying. Nicely propped by its ambrette and soft wood base. It's almost peppery, and very sexy. 3 hours in: cardamom is still just barely hanging on, the orange blossom has turned to sweet soap powder, and the ambrette/wood base asserts itself in a gentle and *almost* feminine cosmetic way. It remained like this for about 2 more hours until it disappeared. Easy to wear, classic, effortless, sexy, and lingers just enough... what more could you want?

What is the quality brand Chopard doing? And what a wonderful exotic name for this frag. And the bottle is stunning. It's one of the most elegant bottles in my rather large frag collection. But much to my surprise this is an exact dupe of Tom Ford Néroli Portofino. I don't get any cardamom, ambrette or white woods. Just mandarin, neroli and orange blossom. I have TFNP, and it's one of my favorite warm weather frags. I compared the two and I think NP is stronger, much deeper and richer and lasts longer. Not that Neroli a la Cardamome du Guatemala is a bad fragrance but I can't understand why "star perfumers" Nathalie Lorson and Alberto Morillas made this weak dupe of a world wide succesfull Tom Ford frag. Especially Morillas because he is a king of freshies for me (Versace L'Homme, Acqua di Gio, Mugler Cologne to name a few). Somehow I am still happy with this one because I got a 50 ml for 62 Euro's and it really smells elegant and nice but the performance is not that good.

A refined version of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. It reminds me of my Grandmother's house in Jerusalem. Citrus trees all around. Orange Blossom water added to sweets. This is comfortable, sweet, and cheerful and has evoked sweet summery memories. I pick up more neroli and orange blossom in this; the cardamom is hiding but is faintly there. I haven't tried TF's Neroli Portofino on my skin to compare projection and longevity. Chopard's lasts a good 4-5 hours before it turns into a skinscent for me. I must say this is the ultimate summer scent and has a magnetic elegance to it. Bravo once again Chopard!
