Sweet Taboo

After trying hundreds of fragrances in the past year, Sweet Taboo still has the best opening I've experienced. It is one of the few scents that made me go "WOW" after spraying. It's hard to describe it, but the cinnamon, cardamom and Clary sage work very well together. I think the cacao is present in the opening also. If it smelled the same way throughout the life of it, this would be a 10/10. But after the first hour or so, it just turns... bland. It becomes an powdery scent with a hint of orange. Where the orange comes from I don't know. Then it only lasts about 4 hours total. I debate a lot whether I should get the full bottle, as while I do enjoy the opening a lot, the price is too much for something I'll only enjoy for an hour. Overall it's a solid 8/10, with the potential to be a 10/10.

So first, the name totally reminds me of Sade's Sweetest Taboo (LOVE that song, LOVE her). I also really love this scent! To my nose, this is spicy cacao, with a bit of minty geranium. I can see why it's compared to TF Tobacco Vanille-I would say they are cousins- if you like one you'd probably like the other, but I prefer Sweet Taboo to Tobacco Vanille. I don't get the comparison to Wolfsbane at all. Wolfsbane reminds me of a more medicinal take on Black Orchid. Performance on Sweet Taboo is fantastic, lasting all day with decent projection. I would say this one is unisex. I'm looking forward to trying more of his fragrances.

Wow! I REALLY like this fragrance! The opening is an olfactory Autumn festival in a bottle! Deep, warm, ever-so-slightly sweet and super sensual. Warm, rich autumnal colors of deep golden orange, dark chocolate and creamy cappuccino swirl in my mind's eye as I sample Sweet Taboo. Alas, the dry down veers more into warm and masculine, powdery citrus territory, that reminds me of a men's fragrance that I've smelled before. I think I'm gonna give this sample to my sister-in-law to test on my brother. If she likes it on him, and he likes it too, a full gift-wrapped bottle will appear under their tree, this year. 😉

I love this, a favorite of mine. One spray (maybe 2) and you’re good for at least 6 hours or more. Reminds me of chocolate and coffee shops in the Seattle area. All I’d need to do is layer it with a pine scent and it’d remind me of the best things about the Pacific Northwest. A bit linear on my skin, and after a 2-hour punch it sort of fades away slowly and pleasantly. Delicious! My favorite time to wear it is when it’s raining in the morning and I’m out grabbing a coffee. Amazing in autumn, winter, and spring for chocolate coffee lovers.

Beautiful fragrance. Sweet and sexy. You think dimmed lights, a burning sweet candle, and an all around cozy night with this scent, or this scent is your best friend at a coffee house, art gallery, or shopping at a boutique store. The cinnamon reminds me of Chanel Egoiste and even the new Sauvage Elixir but not as bold. Very polished and I agree that it sits perfectly between a top designer fragrance and your favorite sexy niche fragrance like TF or TT. Its a LOVE.

I feel so sexy, so alluring, so delicious, so irresistible, so tantalizing when I put this on. All I can do when I spray this is sing Sade's The Sweetest Taboo. What a lovely fragrance. It's just something about that cardamon and cinnamon that lingers and gives it the right amount of a spicy punch! This is the scent that made me a chris collins supporter.

Stunning. Absolutely a breathtaking scent. Cost me an arm to purchase, but I have another arm. I WILL buy this again when I run out. Quality is TOP NOTCH. Wow

Just blew thru my 2ml decant. If anyone has a 10ml please let me know. Currently my favorite scent in my rotation. I enjoy catching this throughout the day.

The drydown hours in smells like a refined version of CK Shock for Him.

cacao, roasted coffee and cardamom! not too unique but really nice

Spicy amber with some gourmand hints. It's certainly sweet but not sickeningly so and there's a good amount of cardamom but again nothing too intense for me personally, it's milder than say Intoxicated by Kilian or even certain fougeres like Invasion Barbare by MDCI Parfums. I find it warm and comforting more so than sexy, with the cacao and tonka bean giving the scent a bit of a dusty texture. Sweet Taboo is a night-time and cold weather oriented fragrance that smells quite unisex and I feel this would fit someone in their late 20's and up. I managed to get the 50ml bottle at 50% discount and I think that's a fair price for this fragrance, but I would look at other options when presented with the full retail price.

I've been burning through my sample because I can't figure this one out. In the opening there is a fleeting, luxuriously resinous note of pine and I so wish it persisted beyond the first minute!! Then cardamom, vanilla, woods, warm spices, dark chocolate. I also get a cryptic floral and a smooth earthiness so with that, Sweet Taboo reminds me of TF Black Orchid. It feel closer to that than it is to any of my other spicy-woody-vanillas. Dries down to a pretty basic autumnal spice gourmand. While it's a gorgeous juice I enjoy wearing, I'm plagued by "I wish"es: I wish the pine lasted longer for me, or I wish I got the coffee note, or I wish it had better performance, and so on.

A warm spicy aromatic cardamom bomb similar to that of La Nuit de l'Homme by YSL. I'm picking up some cinnamon and the other listed notes, but quite subtle and in the background. Also, despite it's name, the sweet aspect isn't dominant and is rather balanced around a perfectly light sweetness. If you don't like cardamom, then steer clear because this has lots of it

It is a gourmand, which is more spicy than sweet, not at all overwhelming, but lasting. I like the bitterness of cacao and coffee inside a soft sweeter spicy blend.

I'm mostly getting cardamom, geranium, and benzoin. A really sexy scent. I don't think anyone could go wrong with this.

As a man in his 20's, I'd never wear this scent near anyone I'd want to impress. A lot of people are quick to say that anything powdery will smell like an old person, but I do think it can work in a classic boudoir sort of way for women. I don't know if powdery is the right word for what this smells brings, but whatever it is, when it blends with the good natured pastry scents of cardamom, vanilla, and cinnamon (maybe it's the cardamom itself?) it absolutely smells like meemaw's house to me. Definitely leans feminine. Maybe not actually TOO much of an old person smell, I think a beautiful woman in her 40s could pull it off, but it definitely feels too old for someone like me. I can almost see what they were going for, it's a very thick, rich scent that almost smells a bit alcoholic at times, but at the end of the day it will always go back to smelling like Christmas and cookies to me. Maybe a cutesy animal-crossing-fan type of person can pull it off, but they'd need a good outfit for it. ||| A+ smell but probably like a C to actually wear it. Kind of strong too. A miss on "Sensuality"

The opening notes on my skin are REALLY awkward on me. Very friction alcohol-like with a cinnamon that won’t quit. Then at the drydown, the alcoholic scent leaves, but the cinnamon starts taking even more space in the fragrance profile, like the taste of a banana you’ve been unfortunate enough to add to your smoothie. It’s only after a few hours of being used to my skin chemestry that it start smelling like the warm cozy perfume with a bit of soapiness to it. It almost makes all that cinamon hell worth it.

I think if you're an upright bass player in a jazz combo or a cool uncle with a nebulous (possibly criminal) past you could totally rock this one

To me this is a VERY spicy, VERY boozy scent. One of those scents that makes me feel like I could get drunk off of it just by smelling it

A really nice unisex gourmand. At first I wasn't getting the coffee, but I see after reading more carefully that the note is "coffee roast" not coffee bean, and now I do smell it. It's the scent coming from a steaming cup of coffee that is not too sweet, that slightly sour, even earthy smell. There is a definitely an herbal quality to this fragrance (bay leaf) mixed with some marvelous spices. And through the whole thing is running a sometimes powdery, sometimes buttery chocolate. It reminds me of Mexican chocolate at first, and becomes more buttery, like a milk chocolate as it dries down. Lot of cinnamon in here, perfectly blended in.. Really delicious, but not overly sweet, which I appreciate. It's making me crave spicy chocolate ice cream pops! The opening is really strong, I did struggle with it the first couple of times I wore it, but now I don't find it overbearing at all, just extremely comforting. It's a cozy scent :) I bet it would be intoxicating to smell on a man.

Nice smell, with an ambiance of notes; One that give me a strong sandalwood aroma at the dry down. Notes include, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clary Sage, Cacao Pod, Coffee, Geranium, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Benzoin, & Musk. At first sniff, I get the sweet Benzoin and Musk then it tappers down to a warm slightly spicy powdery aura. I get a baby powder aroma that is followed by soft musk. There isn't anything that stood out to me, and after wearing I walked away being reminded that this fragrance resembled a fragrance in my collection already: The Art of Shaving - Sandalwood. I do like this one, however, it seems redundant to purchase this since I own the other. Or shall I say, Sandalwood gives me that sweet spicy ambery fix. Decent 6-7 hours of performance. This is not a beast nor it offensive, but decent sillage, and average longevity.

Like other reviews, I do get the mexican chocolate first on; it's very well done, very gourmand without being sickly sweet. Rich, comforting, nice! Goes into a realistic tart apple cider stage when the cinnamon comes in, but still with a background of chocolate and woody notes. At this point, it’s 100% Halloween witch autumn. I adore this stage. An amazing rose note enters after that, really rich and pretty, boosting the base into divinity, but that doesn’t last more than a few minutes. The chocolate fades back and the whole thing goes a bit thin, with a woody dullness and an added edge of hairspray lacquer. It dries down like this. Very disappointing dry down after an hour or two of beauty.

Parfum sucré épicé cacao cannelle café vanille il peut faire penser à plusieurs très bon parfums que vous avez déjà senti ceux l’ont les jours que vous le porter les notes ce développe différemment il donne très bien sûr la peau ne pas essayer sur une touche il n’y aura pas le même effet dans l ensemble très beau parfum addictif avec une excellente tenue et un très bon sillage 8/10 mais franchement ne vos pas le prix 225$ les 50ml c’est comme même vraiment cher

This is a cardamom dominant fragrance. My partner likes this one, although he doesn’t care for fragrances. It smells good on him, but it doesn’t blow me away. Sweet taboo is more masculing leaning and has a minty/citrusy smell, which comes from green cardamom. The cardamom in here is a bit too much for me.

I get a blast of booze, cinnamon, cardamom, cacao and tonka...but then...slowly...I get a barbershop like note. This scent is like a big muscular guy dressed with pink silk and lace....something is a huge mismatch... Sweet spiced androgynous scent. Not something I desire to wear...

Smells like Parfums Quartana Wolfsbane and the notes are completely different! Sweet Taboo smells great but NO WAY IN HELLL is this worth $250.....does it come with a Free BJ's for a week coupon.....if not passs

Really enjoyed the initial notes, but the dry down is a citrus-dryer sheet (white musk?) that I just can't stomach. Oh well! Given the price point, you should really make sure you love this one if you buy it.

I know this may seem weird but this is tobacco Vanille if Prada made it. The musk gives it a bit of an expensive artisan soap nature. It’s warm and cozy but clean and musky at the same time.
